After the fact, I now know why they rate 1.5 stars out of 5, and are not accredited by better business bureau.
My experience after booking is their refusal to cancel a reservation due to COVID concerns with my risk status. After maybe 5 phone conversations they required me to obtain the hotels permission to cancel the reservation. The hotel was very willing, but Reservations.com required the hotels written permission. An email was not sufficient and the hotel was then required to submit permission with a PDF transmission. While they accepted this, they refunded the hotel fee but stated that they would not refund their fees. Out $50. They should not be allowed to do business with any hotel group.
I will be reporting them to the better business bureau. NO invoice - so cannot submit a business claim and hidden $15 fee. As stated above the site did not even indicate that it was not the hotel that I was actually staying at. I was under the full impression that I was dealing directly with an on-line booking for the hotel I was staying at.
Google search had name of the (actual hotel), reservations.com. Operator led me to believe it was the actual hotel. She did not correct me when I asked her. When I called to cancel the day before the reservation, I called the local number to the hotel and they informed me I booked it through a third party, but they did not show which one. I luckily found my mistake and successfully obtained a refund. Sleazy way to do business.
I am only addressing their pricing. We reserved an hotel room through them. Their price was $30 more than registering directly at the hotel. Their price was $60 more than we would have paid through Expedia. Live and learn. Never again!
I, too, was surprised to learn my reservations were not made through the hotel itself - even though I started out on the hotel's website. Through a series of circumstances I didn't stay at that hotel and canceled my reservation with the hotel manager and with her blessings. But low and behold, it wasn't in her control to refund my money! Eventually, l ended up working with Reservations and my refund was returned timely. I'm avoiding second party booking agents but will be willing to work with Reservations.com if needed.
I accidentally booked two rooms when I only wanted one. The site did NOT give me a "review before booking" option. When I discovered I had booked two rooms I called within five minutes to have it changed. It took four phone calls to their customer service, and three emails, plus a phone call to the resort itself over the span of two weeks to get the issue resolved. Twice I was assured a supervisor would call me back and they didn't. Once I was assured it was fixed and it wasn't. They never did update my reservation confirmation. The only way I knew it had been resolved was the credit to my credit card. Do yourself a favor and reserve directly with the resort or through a more reputable site than this one.
I accidentally hit confirm instead of cancel, I contacted customer service immediately and was told that my reservation was non refundable because it needed 24 hours notice. The customer service rep was rude and unprofessional. I spoke with the hotel and the hotel had no problem canceling the reservation for no charge. But reservations.com still charged me. SCAM! Stay Away.
Worst customer service and worst site to book from. I called within 12hrs to cancel my reservation and they couldn't cancel. All they could say was we do not cancel when the hotel allowed cancellation. Please stay away from this site. Its a con job site. Somebody should file a lawsuit against them. Supervisor Bill ID ******* was very rude and least helpful.
Booked one room and they charged me for two. I called to find out to get the other charge off of my account and they had charged me two fees of 14.99 which they said was. No refundable. Needles to say after 9 phone calls oneotel charge was credited back but not the 14.99 fee. After 8 more phone calls and speaking to a supervisor it was finally credited back to my account. TO Save your self a lot of time and headaches, DO NOT USE THIS SITE
I don't travel that much but when I do I make sure that all my bookings are complete and secure so I won't be left hanging when I arrive at my destination. Reservations.com has always been my partner during my travels. I can rest assured that my hotel bookings are confirmed.
I tried to cancel a reservation 10 minutes after I made it on line and was told it was non-refundable. I am fighting it tooth and nail!
I didn't find out about their refund policy until I received the confirmation email after I made the purchase.
What a scam!
I thought I was booking directly with the hotel! The confirmation shows USD! This is Canadian hotel, why they charge me USD? They also cash my money from the credit card. I finally realized I was booking with third party company. After I made the cancellation in two hours, they charged me service fee! They also make the reservation just like you are booking with the hotel website. Very terrible experience booking! Never ever in my lifetime!
Honest service. They keep to their words and deliver as they promised. They have a reliable and 24 hour present customer service will and ready to answer your worry at any time. They are gentle and speak clear English. I admired their service.
Everyone behind Reservations.com deserves a clap on the back. Was having a little problem with my booking but apparently it was nothing that the customer service couldn't fix. Thank goodness for that!
The website's cancellation policy was hard to find on website and I booked the room. I explained it to customer service and they allowed me to cancel my reservation and refunded all my money except for the $14 dollar service charge, They responded to my email promptly.
Reservation.com charges a $19.99 service fee. I googled the hotel I wanted and unfortunately this was the first result. I didn't pay close enough attention that it was taking me to Reservation.com site as opposed to the wynham.com site. My bad! However, no where did I see on their site that there was a service fee. The service fee was indicated in the email confirmation I received but was non refundable if I cancelled. This made the somewhat reasonable price for the motel room $20 higher than I had anticipated. I guarantee I will pay closer attention to where google search takes me as the first priority.
They don't provide accurate information... with a non-refundable option
We booked a hotel from the airport and they promised that there is a shuttle to pick us up, and when we booked and went outside there was no shuttle, when we called the hotel they said they don't provide shuttles any more... when we returned back to reservation.com they answered that it is the hotel responsibility... we don't recommend this service at all
Caveat: I didn't pay enough attention to the url.
Having said that, though, I have booked through several booking services in the last 60 days, as well as in the past, and have NEVER been charged a service fee of any sort.
"Customer service" really isn't, and will only tell you that you didn't pay enough attention to the checkout screen.
I did call and confirm that the room is reserved, so there is that. And, from what I have seen in other reviews, I suppose I am fortunate that I am only out an additional $14.99.
I will pay the stupid tax, this time, but never again!
We booked a hotel through what we thought was the hotel website. It turned out it was not. During the booking because the asked where we were located and our ZIP code which seemed weird seeing as we thought this was a local call and were canadian. We asked the service agent where he was from and said he was with the hotel. Phone the hotel and he was not. Sat on hold to cancel the reservation for 40 minutes and told we will get a refund in 30 days. What bull$#*!. They are impersonating hotel websites. They need to be up front about the fact that they are a third party and dont represent the hotel
They over charge on taxes and fees and when they are called on it they lie about it. I can prove it. I made my own reservation at the same property and the taxes and fees were more than half of Reservations.com charged. Plus they charge a booking fee. What a racket. Crooks and no customer service. Stay away!
Answer: Call your credit card company and report it as an unauthorized charge. You may have to cancel your card and get a new card and card number, but it's worth it.
Answer: Impossible to get money back. They're just scumbags!
Answer: Yes, this company charges a fee, which it will not refund even if you cancel your reservation within minutes!
Answer: Hello, Thank you for question. Please contact us at support@reservations.com so we can better assist you with this matter. Thank you for your consideration and we look forward to hearing back from you. Sincerely Reservations.com Support Team
Answer: It can be, if its refundable reservation. Every reservations has a different cancelation policy. Mostly last minute reservations are not cancelable.
Answer: My experience is the same. reservations.com obviously nails a lot of unsuspecting Canadians this way. They don't make any attempt to help you out when they are confronted by this way of hosing us. Its a sleazy organization.
Answer: Hello Brodie, We have sent you an email this morning regarding your concerns. Please email us directly so we may assist you. Sincerely, Customer Support Reservations.com
Answer: Yes, you were billed. Call your credit card company and report it as an unauthorized charge. Your company should remove it, send you a new card and assign you a new card number.
