The Valley store is amazing. Jason and his team go over and beyond to help the costumers. The are very professional and friendly. Wouldn't go anywhere else!

I'm writing this review in reference to the "office manager" Jay at the location on 596 Lenox ave. Jay is very aggressive and unprofessional. First time I encountered his distasteful behavior I had to let him know that this is not the way to speak to a customer. His behavior is unacceptable and disrespectful if you ask me. Second time he called my phone from the very start with an aggressive tone.
As a paying customer whether on time or late there is a level of professionalism that should be upheld as a "manager". It is not ok that I should feel bullied/pressured as a customer.
Jay needs to learn or be better trained in his phone etiquette and how he handles/conducts himself.
I've had two encounters with him via phone and both times was the same aggressive and unprofessional tone. Two encounters is two too many. I have also witnessed being in the store his tone seems to be the same.
This type of behavior makes me extremely uncomfortable. I wish that I never purchased anything else from this location. I have purchased furniture from here before when I initially moved to Harlem NY in which I bought out earlier than my contract. But at the time he wasn't at this location. One things for sure two things for certain when I'm finished with this purchase I WILL NOT buy ANYTHING ELSE from this location.

I had been looking for a coffee table and end tables for our guest home. I went to several different place and I didn't find any that I like. I had one more stop to make but I saw the Rent a Center store and thought well I check to see if they have something. The salesman I dealt with was Garrett. I told him what I was looking for and and he said he had 2 different sets. He showed me the sets. I explained that I had one more store I was going check and it was on my home (30 miles). There was one set that I liked but was not the exact color I was wanting. I asked him if I purchased it could I have a refund if the other store has what I wanted. He said "Let me check" He went into the back office and then came back to counter and said "Yes, I can do that." I purchased the item and he loaded it in my truck. I went to the other store and found the tables that I wanted. I drove back to the Rent a Center to get a refund on my credit card. Garrett was at lunch so I spoke with the Assistant Manager Jason. He told me they do not give refunds. (This item was brand new in the box. Had not been touched by anyone but Garrett in two hours). I explained to him what happened with Garrett and again he told be they do not give refunds but I could wait on Garrett to come back from lunch and discuss it with him. I waited for over 30 minutes. When Garrett arrived Jason had discussed this with him. When I approached Garrett and told him I needed my refund he said they did not give refunds. He lied! Of course I became angry because I spoke my mind. I told him and Jason to look at their cameras and they could see that Garrett lied. He told me I could call the 1-800 number and file a complaint. I left the store very angry. I was on hold for 47 minutes. I spoke with a young lady and explained everything that happened. She said she would send the complaint to the district manager and he would call me within 48 hours. That was 4 days ago. I have heard nothing. I would not recommend this company to anyone. They have absolutely no integrity. They lie just to get a sale. The worst service I have ever experienced with a company.

FREE BED BUGS WITH EVERY PURCHASE. Hello my name is William and I worked for Rent-A-Center in May and June of 2023. Anyone who has purchased from this location is risking adopting an infestation of BED BUGS! The BEDBUGS and COCKROACHES have taken over the backrooms of this store and have been seen inside the furniture by multiple employees. THIS PROBLEM IS KNOWN! Yet they are still here casually selling their at-risk merchandise to unsuspecting customers. I recently refused to continue working at Rent-A-Center until they exterminated their infestations. I told the manager this on June 18,2023. These BED BUGS have been in the store for MONTHS! These BED BUGS have also INFESTED ANOTHER EMPLOYEES HOUSE and THEY'RE STILL THEIR AFTER WEEKS! Honestly the level of disrespect for the customers, merchandise, and employees here is unmatched. NONE OF THIS WAS TOLD TO ANY POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS! Now it is June 28,2023 and have NO WORD back from the manager on site. Complete and total ghosting after she asked if I would come back to work if the bugs were gone. All my inquiries about the BED BUGS and coming back have been met with complete silence. The SAME WAY SHE'LL TREAT ANY DEAL WITH YOU! Do not buy here. Do not come here. If you bought here and you have bugs call Rent-A-Center and have them send a bug exterminator to your location. For all the good it has done for my fellow employee... I like many consumers like nice things but, can't afford to buy them straight out. So we turn to places like Rent a Center. These people get trained and paid to be dishonest and untrust worthy. They encourage sales only to harrass and extort their customers until they get there items back. They have never actually gave or done anything for my community, but take. And their Corporate offices promote these practices by playing deaf and dumb when you call them out and provide proof. Before my mother passed she was renting an brand new living room set from Rent Way. They really cared about there customers because they wrote that furniture off for her just to show appreciation for being an loyal customer. Thier competition was 3-4 doors away and it was RAC. Rent Way was forced out of business. Because tthere is no place for compassion when vultures are hovering. What's even more sadder about today is it's legal for places like RAC to strong arm consumers. Put brand new prices on dirty furniture, over charge triple on all very used items let you almost pay it off and work to get it back before you do. Their stores stay over stocked with the same furniture that the whole city has rented at least once and they still rent it to consumers on an 2 year agreement or more. Places like RAC have been around an long time and they become greedier and greedier by the second. They prosper off being liars, cheats, and thieves. From my personal experience RAC should be catagorized as an second hand casino. Because every time you deal with them, you are taking a gamble. God for bid you lose an job, limb, or anything of that nature. Because if you don't pay they will come to that same job you lost to pick up their money or merchandise while your picking up your last check. And if it's an limb? They'll come and harass you during surgery. They need to be audited more because I know that all the money they steal is not getting reported.
I HAD CHANTEL OWENS SHOW UP FIRST AT MY NEIGHNORS HOUSE THE OTHER DAY BANGING ON THEIR DOOR SO HARD THEY WERE SCARED TO EVEN ANSWER IT. THEN AFTER SHE SAT AND BANGED ON MY NEIGHBORS DOOR FOR ABOUT 5 MINUETS THEY ANSWERED. CHANTEL PUSHED HER WAY INTO MY NEIGHBORS HOME LOOKING AROUND THEIR HOUSE SAYING SHE KNEW I WAS IN THE HOME. MY NEIGHBOR SENT THEM TO THE CORRECT ADDRESS AND WHEN SHE CAME TO MY DOOR SHE BANGED SO HARD MULTIPULE TIMES. I WAS IN THE RESTROOM ONLY MY 5 YEAR OLD WAS IN THE LIVING ROOM. SHE BANGED ON MY DOOR FOR AT LEAST 10 MINUETS STRAIGHT SO HARD THAT MY FRONT DOOR BECAME ADJAR AND MY 5 YEAR OLD WAS CRYING AND SCREAMING SO SCARED THAT SOMEONE WAS TRYING TO BREAK INTO OUR HOME. ALL OF THIS HAPPENED EVEN AFTER I HAVE BEEN WORKING WITH SOMEONE IN THE STORE ALREADY AND HAD REVIEWED THE PAYMENT PLAN. I HAD JUST GOTTEN BACK INTO TOWN AND MISSED TWO PHONE CALLS OVER THE WEEKEND! BECAUSE OF HER I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND RAC TO ANYONE. WHAT SHE DID IS ILLEGAL AND SO UNPROFESSIONAL! DO NOT RENT ANYTHING FROM RENTACENTER UNLESS YOU WANT TO HAVE CHANTEL COME TRYING TO BREAK DOWN YOUR FRONT DOOR AND SCARE YOUR CHILDREN AND SEARCH YOUR NEIGHBORS HOUSE FOR YOU LIKE THEY ARE THE FBI. Cuz Time your late or have other obligations which may cause you to have to make a split up payment on monthly commitment the mgr and staff be rude to day I made a payment and mgr tried to play me instead of saying I owe 20$ late charge she calls back and say from the 15 til the first that'll but me at 90 and said I was hearing what I wanted to hear
I don't know how dumb she thinks I am I just observed how she took advantage of my intelligence especially when I am sitting here having to had supply my own air conditioning and get school clothes for my kids but back to the part of insulting my intelligence and she wants to see whether or not I can subtract I'm not thinking cleary because of stress from new owner and the fact I was sexual assaulted in public and have been in tears since it happened she wants to play my top and again instead of saying thanks for paying 60$ on a 70$ payment she's trying to say I owe 30$ more dollars but wording it as if I owe 90
Then also when I'm late she will talk over me rude as hell and keep interjecting and keep interjecting trying to get a ride out of me and take me there as if she's recording then when the payment is made she'll call with this nice cockamamie demeanor and say that she's there to help and she'll do so anyway she can buy that's cap cuz if your heart is like that and your work etiquette is on point you'll never talk over me in the first place she more conniving and cynical today than she ever was and I've under gone to much for the mess to add to my stress
Years ago I moved into a new home. I was looking for nice furniture that I could afford while making house payments. I looked in many furniture stores for something unique and different. I did not have much luck since I was looking for something that would be durable but with darker colors. One day I was going to a dry cleaner and next store was a Rent A Center. I decided to just take a stroll and see what they had. Since I have never rented to own furniture I was a little skeptical. After going in I was surprised to find something I really liked. I found a black sofa, chair and love seat that had such a pretty pattern. It was like sprays of paint in multi colors. The set also had these really cool glass tables with stone bases. I also loved the lamps that where black poles that went up and over the sofa with 5 globe bulbs that fanned out over the furniture. This set was very different and was really neat. I talked it over with my boyfriend because I was not real keen on the idea of paying interest to rent to own. We both decided to do the transaction because I really wanted the set. Well let me say that I was happy at first until the sofa that I was paying so much for was starting to sag. I had the set for less than 1 year and the cushions where so messed up it was like sitting on a marshmallow. I had to keep turning them over to try and make the sagging not appear so much. I also was sorry I bought the tables because they never stayed clean. I had to dust them everyday. I did like them but they where a pain. I called the store and told them about the furniture falling apart. They did nothing and I was bound to a contract. Either make the payments or the furniture gets taken. Since I was so upset I went to the store to talk to manager there and advised him of what was going on. He never did anything to fix replace or repair the flabby furniture. I wound up paying it off. And then giving it away. I will never buy anything from these scam artist again. In the end I wound up paying almost double for furniture only because I liked the look. Well looks can be very deceiving. Remember this my friends. The sweetest candy can be rotten on the inside. These types of company's prey on people who can't afford to buy lavish furniture promising to back there products. What a big joke. I like the design of the furniture but if I knew it was put together with elmer's glue and cotton balls, I would have made it myself. I would have been better of with bean bag chairs at least they are meant to sag. I hope this helps anyone who may consider using fraud furniture stores.
