Priceline Reviews Summary

The overall reputation of the company reveals significant dissatisfaction among customers, primarily due to issues with booking accuracy, hidden fees, and inadequate customer service. Many reviews highlight frustrations with non-refundable reservations and uncommunicated changes, leading to feelings of being misled. While some customers appreciated the initial pricing, the subsequent hidden costs and lack of support during disputes overshadowed these positives. A recurring sentiment is a lack of accountability from the company, prompting numerous customers to vow never to use the service again. This feedback indicates a critical need for improved transparency and customer support practices.

They are not willing to return my money for a hotel room even after I showed them the proof of written note from doctor that my husband is sick. They give lame excuses that they can't trust written note from a doctor and they need to talk to hotel representative to confirm. In past 400 hours they haven't been able to contact hotel and keep giving lame excuses. I will not recommend them to anyone.

Priceline sucks
June 11, 2019

The car rental rate is always confusing. They pre-charge you full amount. And they won't refund back even if I got a lower rate when picking up the car from the counter. The counter has no idea why Priceline gives a higher rate. And if you check back with Priceline, their customer service has the worst whatsoever attitude. They are repeating. We negotiate the best price... like totally nonsense

DONT GET PRICELINE INSURANCE. It's a scam, they can't sell insurance and you still have to add sit when you get there. And PRICELINE WONT refund you for the fake insurance they sold you.

We still had to buy insurance.

They double booked me on the same flight. No notification about the double booking. 26 hours on hold, 18 different calls, 9 different supervisors, and no resolution on the issue in 6 weeks. Instead I have 900$ of an extra ticket sitting on my credit card. Supervisors keep promising call backs and resolutions, but there has not been a single one. This company just lies and frauds you out of your money. Avoid at all costs. I would gladly pay 200$ extra dollars to book directly on the airline's website instead and save the hassle.

The art of the con
June 8, 2019

Read the fine print. The company's business practices should be illegal. I booked a week long car rental with them but was unable to pick up the car. Never mind, I was charged for the car for one week anyway. The company has no business ethics. Their motto is apparently to con customers if you can. I'd recommend trying another service. Priceline sucks!

Booked 2 nights hotel through priceline. Got to hotel in different country and they didnt have our reservation. We spent 3 hours on the phone with them. Every hotel in the area was booked solid. We ended up going home early because we had no where to stay. Absolutely horrible

Priceline customer service is mostly out of US and will leave you on hold for so long you may find yourself having aged from the experience. It's a crap shoot, odds are the agents will be politely or not politely, indifferent jerks.

Worthless
June 7, 2019

My wife and I We were supposed to fly from EWR to FCO airport on May 19th that we also had insurance on. We unfortunately missed our flight due to an accident on the New Jersey turnpike that resulted in it being shut down. I called both the airline (TAP) and Priceline for help and neither had anyone to answer the phones. We arrived at check in at 5:50 and was denied check in because the gate was already closed. We were not offered help to find another flight by the TAP associates at the airport and was told to start looking at other airlines. Priceline wanted to charge me $175 a ticket to "cancel" my flight that I had already missed. This insurance that they offer is a joke as well, I will never use this service again.

Stay away!
June 5, 2019

Don't ever use these guys. Terrible service, will not make reasonable accommodations for customers, will not change flights despite notice. They act indifferent about it over the phone, and have deals set up with credit cards to override/prevent disputing of charges.

You may have used Priceline before, or had a friend/family member who has, and may be thinking to yourself, "This doesn't seem too bad". But the problem with Priceline is that behind the prices are a litany of horrible customer service practices just waiting to betray you, and ruin your vacation or work trip. You cannot ever trust when/if this will happen, but for certain, if you keep pulling that trigger at Priceline then you are eventually going to wind up getting shot.

My hotel was canceled 3 hours prior to checkin on a vacation. I had a 4-star Marriott booked that simply decided to sell my room to someone else AKA "overbooked". Priceline allowed this activity. What's worse, when someone informed me they would get me another room at the same rate, they lied. They simply canceled my room and returned my money. When I called customer service to ask what was happening, they said because I canceled my room there was nothing they "could" do. I explained they canceled my room, I did not. They called me a liar and said an agent couldn't do that, like a mysterious force was keeping their hand from clicking "cancel" until I blessed them to do so. I received absolutely no assistance and was told I would have to wait 2-3 days for them to review the situation. I paid over 5 times the amount for a same day hotel replacement. For my trouble and considerable cost, Priceline sent me a 5% off code. 5%! I would have felt better if they sent someone to slap me in the face. A week later an email came that said, "Because you canceled your room, there is nothing we can do."

So there is an obvious and intentional policy scam in place for these situations that everyone unwise enough to use Priceline should be aware of. They do not care about you or your business as much as the do retaining a modest profit margin on a simple transaction such as above. Just think about how many more times I would be using their service if I could trust not being shot in the foot on vacation for it! But instead I am dropping this review everywhere I can imagine. This is a foolish, badly managed business that you should either stay away from or expect to have an important trip seriously ruined by. Don't say you weren't warned.

I booked from Priceline a hotel room in Boston's Westin Hotel for July 4th Priceline charges me $347.00 for a room of which the hotel if I directly dealt with them the room would be $218.00
When I called Priceline on this issue they told me nothing could be done, you agreed to a non refundable room. What a bunch of bs since I booked only 15 minutes earlier. Priceline is nothing but a bunch of crooked thieves and crooks.
Not only did Priceline promise me a room on the higher floors with a city view they lied... I contacted the hotel directly and booked a second night thru the hotel for $218.00. I was told I'd be on a very low floor from Priceline of which was unacceptable and was told different from the booking agent. After battling with 2 different bookings agents I hung up and dealt with the hotel directly and got my room with city view on a high floor I was paying for.
Never again will I use a third party booking agency. Priceline is terrible, they lie and tell false information just to sell a room off.
Do yourself a favor if you don't want the stress is deal directly with the place your staying at and book through them directly... You will find you can save a lot of money not booking with a third party agent.
Priceline you suck horrible not only with customer service but policy as well
Buyer Beware!

The deals that you get in Priceline are not worth the trouble of booking. You can use Google to look for hotels and book directly and the hotel then works with you if you are making changes or upgrades you rather than going through a third party. Booked hotels for a week over Memorial Day week traveling from Chicago to Houston and no changes were allowed at the hotel. I was stuck with a room I could not use when I booked with Priceline and the hotel charged me full price for another room. No refunds.

I used to be a travel agent. Priceline is decent as far as prices and being a one stop shop. Here is some accurate info. Based on my personal experience with them. For car rental you'll need to be honest if you don't have a credit card and are using a debit card and be prepared to make a decent sized deposit. I've seen a lot of lines of people with this issue at the airports. Click the "using a debit card" option always on the site if this is your case and save yourself the headache as otherwise Priceline will assign you a rental company that does not accept debit. For hotels NEVER EVER USE EXPRESS DEALS because you only save around $20 and for some reason they really think a Howard Johnson is a 3 star resort. Choose your hotel based on star rating and location, you'll be happier you splurged that extra $15. For flights NEVER USE THE EXPRESS FLIGHT DEALS unless you are okay with flying redeye meaning you fly at 5am or some ungodly hour on a carrier that will still charge you for bags anyway. I recommend you choose your flight time with a higher price on the carrier that allows for the free or less expensive bag. Cost wise, it's ALWAYS a wash and you're saving time and stress and it's far more comfortable. I run away from Spirit and choose JetBlue and Southwest often for example. For timing everything Priceline is excellent if you book your flights first. Book and pay for the flights then they offer you the car to be picked up immediately after you land, no messing with timing or with multiple sites. Priceline even allows you to add mileage, points and so on. Priceline also allows cash back using ebates which saves more money. Priceline gives constant alerts on timing, travel updates, flight schedule and so on. Getting an agent to help out is easy and fast too. Do they always have the absolute best prices? Not always but pretty close. With this one site I can get literally everything booked, planned and set up and have an agent if I need one.

Luckily I only got ripped off by a little and didn't have major issues like I've read about here! They tacked on fees for booking a hotel. I specifically asked about fees and was told it was taxes, but turns out it was fees. Have never had this problem with other booking agencies.

After booking through Priceline, I was charged $255 for the vehicle (including taxes) plus $88 for insurance. Upon arrival in Burbank, I agreed to upgrade my insurance coverage, buy a tank of gas, and add a second driver. I was shown the invoice and told that I would only be charged for the ADD-ONS BEYOND what I had paid for through Priceline. When given the invoice, the clerk showed me that I had been credited with paying $313.89 (I had paid $343 through Priceline and knew they had to make something) and that I would owe $191.06 for the upgrades. I agreed to this. However, I have been charged $313.89 through Fox on top of the $343 through Priceline. I have talked to both companies at length with no resolution and have now filed disputes with my credit card company. DO NOT USE 3RD PARTY BOOKING COMPANIES, AND STICK WITH WELL KNOW RENTAL CAR COMPANIES. I DEFINITELY SHOULD HAVE KNOWN BETTER!

Last week I tried to a book to go to Orlando and stay at The Swan hotel however it kept saying that the flights were sold out so I kept trying to switch the flights pay a little extra it did not matter because I was I getting the best deal however by the time I got done which was 4 hours later of trying to book my trip the price had gone up so I decided to wait until the price went down and today the price went down and I was trying to rebook from priceline and again it kept saying the flight was sold out however it was not sold out there still seats available since I looked at other sites and then I called Priceline and they said to refresh and it exit out of the page last week when this had occur I exited out and the price jumped 200 dollar. Then when i did exit out and redid all of it the price was the same thankfully however when I got through my card was decline so I called l my card company I said are you blocking my card what's going on they said no we're not declining it Priceline they are not accepting our payment. Then I called Priceline again and they said the flight is not available and I told them yes it is since other booking sites have the hotel and flights. Finally the manager I talked to said the price might be changing I told her I have been trying to book this package for 2 hours so it's not that fair I would have to pay more. Now my hotel is sold out and the flights are going up again should have booked with another site l. Would have paid a little extra but this headache and disappointment would have been avoided. I feel like this was false advertisement and they just kept denying it so they could get more money for this package.

RUINED MY TRIP!
May 28, 2019

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! They sent my last name over as my first name to the airline and to the rental car agency. Security would not let me through to get on the plane which caused a missed flight. Priceline did not care and charged me a cancellation fee for the rental car when all I was trying to do was change the day. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!
