Priceline Reviews Summary

The overall reputation of the company reveals significant dissatisfaction among customers, primarily due to issues with booking accuracy, hidden fees, and inadequate customer service. Many reviews highlight frustrations with non-refundable reservations and uncommunicated changes, leading to feelings of being misled. While some customers appreciated the initial pricing, the subsequent hidden costs and lack of support during disputes overshadowed these positives. A recurring sentiment is a lack of accountability from the company, prompting numerous customers to vow never to use the service again. This feedback indicates a critical need for improved transparency and customer support practices.

I had booked a hotel stay in St. Louis but then tested positive for the coronavirus in Colorado. Priceline refused to refund my money. The alternative could have been me showing up to the hotel anyway and spreading the highly contagious virus all over the place (my symptoms are mild but I am positive) but Priceline doesn't care about the community. They care about money and lining their pockets. My customer service agent, Emma, was extremely RUDE. Horrible human. Emma... chat agent on the morning of 3-13-20, needs to be fired. It's bad enough I'm sick and then she is rude as could possibly be and actually disconnected the chat even though I wasn't finished. I waited 149 minutes to speak with a human. Condescending woman. Hardly decent customer service.

Travel ban
March 13, 2020

I realize that they are overwhelmed, but most of the numbers that have hang up, dont accept email or reservation and then hang up.

BUT ON TOP OF THAT OUR TRIP IS CANCELED BECAUSE OF THE TRAVEL BAN. NOT A THING i CAN DO.
BUT THEY SAID THEY CANT REFUND EVEN THOUGH IT IS STILL MORE THAN A WEEK AWAY AND THEY PROBABLY WON'T PAY THE AIRLINE OR CAR RENTAL. KEEP IT FOR THEMSELVES
I WILL BAN PRICELINE FROM MY SEARCH LIST 20 50 FOR FEES BUT 500

I've been on hold for 57 minutes, for the second time today. No answer. My event was cancelled due to Coronavirus and attempting to cancel. I understand that this is the case for a lot of people, but no back up plan?! I'm in healthcare so I understand the impact, but this is horrible! I'll probably be charged because I can't sit on hold all day. Talk about taking advantage!

With problem after problem. This was the first and last time i use this service! I had asked to cancel the room I booked because the show I was going to see was canceled due to the viral outbreak. They said no. They cant. Oh well so I rescheduled my day and planned on going to do something else. I invited my sister and her boyfriend and wanted to change the room I was getting to accommodate them. Nope cant do that as well. I was hung up on twice. Becuase I seleced the option of issues. But when I selected the option change the date tada! I could talk to someone. Soooo aggravated I called the hotel and told them the situation. Thankfully Hampton inn solved my problem in less than five minutes.

Priceline is quick to grab people's money but when you have an issue for them to take care of, they put you on hold for 8 or 9 hours
This is unbearable

Worst possible company. Coronavirus is shutting down endless events, schools, venues, etx... Priceline says you are SOL as they have a no refund policy. Coronavirus is not their fault.

Crooked and low
March 11, 2020

Called to either cancel flight or get credit for later flight due to the corona virus in New York. New York was quarantining neighborhoods and getting ready to close subway system. It was too risky to fly to New York at this time. Priceline wouldn't refund my money or even credit me for a later date to fly. And this was for a total of 323 dollars. Bad thing about this is by what Priceline is doing will cause some people to fly there anyway risking getting sick or getting stuck in New York because people may go anyway because they can't resceduale of get refund

I booked two nights at a hotel through Priceline, booked separately because last minute decision. Paid for 2, stayed 2 but charged twice for first night... duplicate charge has been pending for 5 business days. Priceline insists they will "research" my duplicate charge for 3 MORE business days before emailing me a letter of release. Seriously! The proper thing to do would be to release the duplicate charge (its been 5 business days... today it the 6th day) and research their own error on their own time, and dime. But instead I have to continue to wait for my $96.49, my money! Because of how they have handled their own error and the amount of others who have complained of similar situations going back 20 years (unbelievable) I will never use Priceline, for anything. I encourage others trust your bank account to another company. I didn't mention the language barrier that prevents the reps from truly understanding the problems or being able to effectively address complaints/issues. Also, it says my second stay is still open, but I stayed and checked out. They spoke to the hotel while I waited on hold to confirm their forms of payment were correct. When you book through Priceline, they send the hotel a type of online gift card to pay for your room. Then the hotel uses it to pay when you check in. Everything was verified and the hotel did everything right. The charges on my statement are all from Priceline, wtf is there to research aside from their billing/booking errors?! I have reported them the BBB for just bad business practice. I hope everyone else does to so they have to face consequences for using or holding our money inappropriately.

I have had a terrible time with Priceline over the years using their service. Their customer service is never helpful, and completely inflexible to an individual's travel plans. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!

They also price gouge you if you are a few minutes late on a reservation! That is not way to run a company and not expect a terrible review. Look at their star rating people... Thousands of unsatisfied people do not lie.

I wish I could give ZERO stars, but that is not an option.

Priceline charged my AMEX twice for a single night hotel stay. One charge for the night BEFORE the stay, one charge for the night OF the stay. I've contacted help desk numerous times in chat and via phone. They say it was the hotel's fault and direct me to the hotel. Hotel says it's Priceline and directs me back to them. When I've provided all details related to the duplicate charge, Priceline tries to contact the hotel but says "they will not answer the call". This despite me having just hung up with a very helpful agent who is willing to answer the call. In several attempts to address this I've been: hung up on twice, dropped chat twice, and told there is nothing they can do about the charge. Have disputed via AMEX< but putting this out there to warn others of Priceline's TERRIBLE customer service and untrained agents and unwillingness to help reverse an obviously incorrect charge. I'm uninstalling their app and not using their service any longer.

PRICELINE IS THE ABSOLUTE WORSE TRAVEL SITE! They have an ad for a hotel that was supposedly across the street from a function we were going to. I booked the room then after booking they disclose the address and low and behold it's 15 miles away! Want to guess what's next problem? Yeah that's right bookings are non refundable, non transferrable and non changeable all which was not disclosed until after booking. Wasted an hour on the phone with customer service and a supervisor to get nowhere and no empathy just a money hungry travel booking site that won't budge and help even though they have deceptive ads. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this travel site at all costs!

Not good service
March 6, 2020

I booked a trip with Priceline. My flight on return trip got changed with 11 hrs layover instead of 4 hrs. When I ask them to change my flights with same layover as my original booking. They gave me a hard time. It isn't done yet. I'm still in talks with them. Today I had to call them 5-6 times. Agents don't have enough knowledge to resolve me problem. They kept saying every time I called them, let us check the airline policy. They also made me to call airline, airline told me they can't do anything while booked it Priceline. In the end it's a big hassle. I'm not going to use these agencies again to save couple hundred dollars. Airline charges the luggage while I book with agencies. So in the end you pay same and have a lot of hassle. No thanks

After much searching, I booked a hotel in Atlanta. Looking for one that did not say anything about having to pay for parking like many of the others stated. We get to the hotel at after 7 in the evening only to be told that parking was $32 a day. (There 3 days) The hotel blamed Priceline. I filed a complaint through their chat. Right after this, I made a different reservation and then found out I have a work meeting to be at during the same timeframe. I called asking to cancel or just move reservation. I was told by the rep and then her "supervisor" that per their policy, there was nothing they could do. There is no way that absolutely nothing can be done to help a customer. They just won't help. I filed email complaints with several corporate people only to be told they weren't going to do anything either. They don't give a $#*! about their customers. They are only about the money. I at least expect dinner & drinks before I get screwed!

I was scammed
March 5, 2020

Put a hold on a hotel in Rhode Island, thought I was on the actual hotel website. Somehow when I clicked I was moved to priceline. After I put "hold" for the room, the receipt came up saying it was nonrefundable. Called immediately and the customer service representative laughed and cursed at me then hung up. Called my bank. Somehow this priceline has control over our banks. No other way to say it, this priceline is scamming us. Gave one star because I couldn't go any lower. Priceline needs to be regulated.

I talked to a very mean customer service. She ended the call without answering my questions. Manager can't answer customers.

When the rental car company told us that they couldn't rent cars because their system was down, I tried calling Priceline relentlessly to get a real person on the phone with no luck. I thought "well if I go on their website and rent another car, that should make it easy to get reimbursed for the higher price I'm sure to pay on the spot to rent another car." That was a mistake. I chose the cheapest available Economy car on their website which was $50 more than the first car I rented, which was apparently a Mid-size car. When I was FINALLY able to get someone from Priceline on the phone later that night, they not only told me that they wouldn't pay this $50 difference because it wasn't the same class of car, but they wouldn't refund me the money for the car that I COULDNT PICK UP BECAUSE THE RENTAL COMPANY WOULDNT GIVE IT TO ME. They were extremely heartless on the phone, very scripted with their "I'm sorry for the inconvenience" lines, and I'm still fighting trying to get my money back that I paid for a service that wasn't given to me. I will never use Priceline again and if you do, I hope for your sake that you don't have any issues and have to call customer service.
