Un fair
July 15, 2016

I was a buyer on posh bought a coach wallet had a tiny hole they failed to do anything I'm assuming because the seller was making them a lot of loot. So I became a seller I have Chanel items, pink Victoria secret socks, shorts tees. And more I was selling my items very low to get buyers to start off so almost 2 months of selling I had 5 star ratings top seller about 100 listings made over 800$ but posh took 20% that is a lot but hey it was helping clean my closet so reading rules one of them is you can't sell replicas because it's disrespectful to the designers I've seen so many replicas omg I seen this one person selling a Chanel blanket for 300$ but seen it on ioffer for 27$ omg ok fine make some money but to burn someone for that much is not right so I reported it and they send there generated emails saying rest assure were on it thx for keeping posh safe blah blah so I kept seeing things I'm just a honest person I reported it and how does posh repay me they deleted my account for the following reasons you can't sell lotions or bath & bodyworks items I'm like that don't make sense so I did research on posh found people selling the same items but used so that's my story if anyone has money to spend on a fake Chanel item way over priced then this sight is for you. And know I'm not jealous of what so who ever leaves me a ignorant comment you can shouve it.

Terrible
May 6, 2019

First and foremost, they do not have a customer service line. If you have an issue or concern, you have to email them. Then you have to wait 24 hours for them to get back to you. Garbage. Moreover, they take 20% of sales, which is quite high in comparison to other selling sites like eBay, mercari etc. Mercari is crappy too by the way. Buyers want to pay as little as possible for everything. They don't take down unfair reviews of items from buyers who rate on fit, or lie about item specifics, or say they received an empty box etc. Scamming on the site from buyers and sellers is atrociously common. There's a lot of counterfeit luxury items. I've even heard of poshmark employees buying luxury items from other sellers and having the sales canceled to steal the items. It's difficult to tell who is a trust worthy buyer, as, sellers are not allowed to rate them. If buyers do not go back on the app/ site to press that button that says "accept", when they receive their orders, the sellers have to wait three days to get paid. From the buyers' side, it can be really difficult to return items. If you purchase something, you have an hour window period where you can cancel the order. Otherwise, you have to wait 7 days to cancel, or, have it shipped and then wait a few more days to receive. Especially, if the seller doesn't respond to messages. Shipping fees along with taxes are outrageous now. You find an item for $25 you end up paying $35/ $38 for it. There are scammer sellers on the site, and sometimes, they're hard to detect unless you read each ones love notes
(reviews) before you buy. If you're not happy with your purchase you have to keep it anyways. Good luck trying to get a refund on an item that was improperly described or damaged. I would not recommend anyone buy or sell on this site. You're better going to a thrift store. Or, even low cost shops that sell brand new, name brand, items they buy at low prices from the high end stores at seasonal sales. Poshmark needs to go away.

Scam
May 6, 2024

I place an order on a Sunday morning. I did my research and found a few different places to purchase, one of which offered free delivery. I decided to check one more site, Poshmark. They offered the item that I wanted at a cheaper price, but didn't give me options for shipping quotes. I decided to start the order since sometimes that option is only presented at the very end. But when I press to continue thinking that I was going to be taken to delivery options, the system told me that the purchase had been completed. The final prize was much higher than any other sites because of a ridiculous high shipping cost that I didn't even approve or was offered as an option. I emailed customer service department to cancel the order. I received an automatic email acknowledging received of my cancellation request. But 24 hours later, they emailed me telling me that the item had been shipped, and they could not cancel the order, which is weird since my cancellation request had been made 24 hours prior, on a Sunday, within minutes after ordering. About a week later, I received the item, and not only was the bag where it came in broken, and the packaging for the item opened, but it was a completely different item of lesser value and quality. At that point, I requested a return, to wish they replied that they were not going to accept my return Because the item had never been misrepresented. I sent them screenshots of the order with the description and picture on their website of what I order, and pictures of what I actually ended up receiving, which are two completely different items. I also sent pictures of the opened package, which points out to the fact that it was not even brand new as they advertised. They refused to accept the return, and they even have the audacity to say that as long as their description is accurate, they will not accept returns, even If the item I receive doesn't fit their own description, which makes no sense, and only shows how professional company, and how they are out there only to deceive and deceive. In their eyes, the item you purchased doesn't have to be the same that you ordered or in the condition they advertise it as long as you receive something. I had to contact my American Express to dispute the charge, which they responded by saying that is not uncommon from such companies. I would never recommend anybody to do business with these company. It's a scam.

I purchased a dress/tunic from a buyer who claimed that it was an original. As soon as I opened the box, I KNEW it was a fake. Not only was the garment the wrong material, it was also the wrong size and the tags on the dress were from the wrong company, and it was made in the wrong country.

I immediately requested a return and explained why. Poshmark asked for more photos, and then made the decision that there wasn't evidence to prove the dress was a fraud. When I reached out for them to review the decision MY ACCOUNT WAS LOCKED FOR 24 HOURS, which was 'technical error.'

I reached out to the designer of the item to prove the authenticity. He emailed me and told me that from just glancing at the pictures he knew it was a fraud and that I could use his email as proof. I submitted more proof to Poshmark. They refused to look at them claiming that they could only look at the initially submitted photo.

Here is their reply: We recommend relisting the item in your closet for sale. We ask that you ask for additional photos and or ask detailed questions regarding the item to ensure correct item accuracy.

I have been a 'Posher' for yearsssss, and with 100% certainty I can telly you this- Poshmark is pure and utter bull$#*!.

Warning for Sellers
June 22, 2020

I just wanted to share my story because this was crazy.
So to set the scene. I've been on Poshmark for almost a year, I've made dozens of sales and have exclusively 5-star reviews. I've even made a handful of purchases and always left good reviews for those sellers. So I have a good reputation with this site and assumed that it would mean something.
One day, I sold this pair of quite expensive men's khaki pants. They were in perfect condition when I shipped them and I had a very detailed listing, as I always do, explaining that they were gently used but like new.
When the buyer received them, they put in a case for a return due to a rip. Now, to be fair, my photo wasn't completely clear in that one area. The rip was on a back pocket and due to the lighting in my photo, you couldn't really tell considering the rip was so small. Tip for sellers: take good and detailed pictures! On the other hand, the buyer's photos were horrible. They were zoomed weird and unfocused but the only sure thing you could see was a tear in a khaki material.
Despite me saying there was no rip and asking for further examination, Poshmark took my money back and accepted the return. Now, understandably I was mad, but I waited to receive my pants back.
Low and behold, I got the return. They sent me a completely different pair of pants! They're men's khaki pants, but a different size, slightly different color, the buttons don't match. It's undeniably not the same pants, and I easily proved that with pictures.
After yet another complaint, Poshmark returned my money to me, but let the buyer keep his free new pants.
The two takeaways here:
1. If you want free stuff, just return something else and they don't question it and you'll get to keep the item without paying. This is the benefit of Poshmark's completely nonexistent customer service.
2. As a seller, always take way too many pictures and if you have a complaint, ask for as many pictures as possible. But good luck, Poshmark sides with the buyer no matter what.

I sold something on Poshmark but by mistake sent the buyer a $400 romper instead of the $20 vest she bought (made a human error when shipping a bunch of stuff).

The buyer opened a case saying it was the wrong item and tried to return it. Poshmark's operating procedure is to email the buyer a return label to print out. The buyer is HANDICAPPED and doesn't have a printer so she was unable to do this. Instead of mailing her a label or helping her out, they told her they couldn't help her. And they LIED to me saying she was being uncooperative.

There is NO reason Poshmark couldn't have simply printed the label themselves and mailed it to her. Or at least TOLD me what was going on.

Instead they lied to me saying she was being unresponsive, and ignored the pleas for help from a HANDICAPPED lady. Considering Posh has taken a cool EIGHT HUNDRED AND FIFTY dollars from me in fees in the last year alone, they could have helped out.

Poshmark is PURE BULL$#*!. They do not protect you AT ALL. Customer service, my $#*!.

This review is about the business model of Poshmark. I recently watched some YouTube videos of people who sell on Poshmark giving expert advice on how to source items to resell and what and how to price. So basically they run around to all of the thrift stores and consignment stores, buy up anything good, and raise the price by at least double and then again to cover the PM fee and shipping discount.
I had a $10 skirt listed that I had already paid 2x for on PM and just wanted it gone. Someone offered me $7. I would have made $4 plus I would have had to pack and mail it. I went to the offerer's page and she had a large store with items priced triple what I was asking for this skirt. I think my item was going to be repriced and resold. As an experienced Posher she would have known what my profit margin was. I called her out on it and her response was that it was a business economy and nothing personal.
The point of this is that anyone who buys their clothing second hand and hopes to find something good at a reasonable price has to compete with the greedy resellers. I now understand why a jacket that may be $12 at the goodwill is $40 on Poshmark.
The business model has changed from a way to sell your unwanted clothing and purchase mistakes to a whole army of resellers making sure no one gets a bargain. I'm not saying you still can't find a deal but I wonder how long that is going to last.
In addition, if you happen to receive an item mis-sized, damaged, or misrepresented, good luck trying to return it. Sellers will fight tooth and nail to not get an item back. Unless you can provide proof you are stuck with it. There are no consequences for sellers who misrepresent because there is no rating system that anyone but the seller sees. The only consequence is they may get the item back. If you try to resell it on Poshmark you will have to price it double just to break even. Your mistakes will get expensive.
This is my take as someone who has been buying and selling on Poshmark for several years now. I have a pile of expensive unwanted shoes and clothing that I will have to sell at a loss to get rid of and it will still not be a bargain for a buyer.

Taking 20% of your item is way to much. That means they keep $20 out of every $100 you sell. Way better site to work with that don't gouge you.
