Scam site
April 17, 2020

Been trying to adopt and been contacting various "foster" places. This seems like scam as no one ever responds. This site should be shut down.

We adopted a small dog from Peanuts Place last Fall. We live in a community that requires black aluminum fences. Within minutes of bringing home our dog, who was feral - she ran through the fence and was gone for 11 days. We searched every day, posted signs and put on social media. Eventually we got her back. But she was terrified of people, particularly children, and we have 3. She would hide behind the couch for hours. After months, we realized that things were not improving and gave her back to Peanuts Place. At the time, we were verbally promised that we would receive a refund. Although we realized that if we could secure a replacement dog from Peanuts Place, it would not be necessary, so we did not ask Colleen for a refund. We just trusted she would do the right thing. Last week we looked at 2 dogs from Colleen. But when we brought them to our home to meet our dog, who was as sweet as can be - one dog was hostile to our dog and the other nipped at our daughter. We kept looking and we found a sweet girl to adopt from another agency. When we contacted Colleen to get our refund, she told us that she never made that promise and only offered a replacement dog. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS AGENCY. COLLEEN DOES NOT DO THE PROPER SCREENING AND WAS DISHONEST WITH US. I hope this helps other looking for pets.

So much for doing the right thing.

I have been going back and forth with *******@petfinder.com. I have asked for management or corporate to give me a call and discuss an issue we have currently been made aware of. We received an email from Quality stating that we could not charge an application fee from your site per Code of Conduct. So, we changed our application within your site and our Petfinder Pro account. Our business website remains with an application fee of $20. We charge this fee because we were getting inundated with FREE adoption applications (100's) that were frivolous and a waste of our volunteer resources time. We feel within our organization, that the $20 fee reduces the overload to serious inquiries only. Once we receive and application, the applicant is sent an email requesting the needed information and items to complete the application process. When they are not charged a fee, the apps just sit waiting on their needed documents. Once they sit for 2 weeks with no response we have to move them to inactive. We have never had an issue with any other organization because we charge this fee to deter frivolous apps. We also put the $20 app fee towards their adoption fee if they are approved. I am not understanding why if she changed our app for your site, why we would be removed from PetFinder. Thus, the reason I am wanting to discuss with management or a higher up. We have used your service since inception of SRGDRR which has been 8 years and because we are the largest Great Dane Rescue and Rehab in the United States with a huge volume we needed to find a better balance on the amount of apps we were receiving in whole. Again, we have no problem allowing the adoption apps from Petfinder being no charge. We just need to keep it on our business website. Please advise and do not send me back to Quality as they are refusing to discuss or even assist in escalating to management. Thank you and look forward to hearing back from someone. I was told there is no phone number to contact, they prefer to hide behind a keyboard.

Recently my husband and I lost our beloved Spookey Kitty of 11 years to diabetes. Our household mourned, as she was loved greatly as our baby girl. We decided to fill the empty hole with a new fur baby. Spookey was a very intelligent black Bombay who my husband had potty trained and she was taught to fetch. She was raised from a kitten with our two dogs and loved them dearly. Once we started the quest to adopt another Bombay based on our previous experience with our kitty, we tried Petfinder. Each time we followed the steps to adopt a specific kitten, we received a messages back stating that the kitten were interested in had to be adopted with another kitten because they had bonded to a sibling. My husband and I lease in senior housing that only permits one cat. We reached out about another single kitty on Petfinder. We received a response from Nora Leon who was fostering the kitty. She responded that the cat had to be adopted with her sibling, My husband expressed his disappointment and ask if there was a way to get around her two cat rule. She sent my husband a ridiculous post about how treacherous a single cat can be when separated from siblings. My husband sent back the loving pictures and videos we had of Spookey assimilating and snuggling with our two dogs and us for 11 years. He let her know that we were not children acting on a whim, but a hurting empty-nesting couple who simply wanted to share our love and attention with another kitty. We have seen that when cats are adopted in couples or groups, they ignore their humans who want to love them. Nora basically told us Petfinder could help us and to try another site. My husband saved all of the communications for future investigation. I think it should be made clear when posting an add for a single cat, that the sibling has to adopted with. When people make donations to a site to help feed and shelter pets, they would expect to have the opportunity to adopt on of the pets they are helping to support. I strongly suggest donating to a site with better transparency.

You can sent in a request to adopt a dog, but the service is slow. It should not be so hard to adopt a dog.

DO NOT, i repeat DO NOT go through this site to try and give an animal in need a forever home- the people who you have to go through to get to said animal will NOT let you adopt! It's as simple as that. I inquired about a kitten last week 2/3/19 and was asked to fill out an application. So i did that and fairly quickly and sent it back to them. The contact told me that she and somebody else involved could not figure out how to open it- such a time waster, so i suggested i just come to the pet store where the little kitten was being held and fill out the paper form. No problem, so i went there the next day, Saturday, held and bonded with this kitten and as the "volunteer" there commented more than a few times how much the kitten loved being held by me, she also stated that i'd for sure be approved, that i'd hear back no later than Monday. I filled out the paper application and informed the volunteer there that the REST of the information needed is on the application i filled out online and emailed, this would include the THREE references and more time consuming questions- you'd think you're opting to adopt a child! It's ridiculous. Anyway, I get an email back saying that they "never received the application" and DENIED and dismissed me! FACTS: i filled out ALL of the questions on the application and submitted it. FACT: they didn't know how to open it and so decided to deny me, that the "board" decided to reject my submission. How terribly, terribly unfair and disheartening. I feel worse for the kitten. He would have had a forever home with me but because he's under the "Care" of people who cant open a simply google document, he's stuck in a cage! Please pass this feedback on to anyone seemingly getting their heart set on an animal up for adoption through here- very bad service!

Adoption
May 20, 2022

I can start by saying that I will never apply with them again
Upon my application for the puppy "Peter"
I was left to feel like a pile of crap I was asked after explaining my situation to them
Which was why did I have to euthanize my dog when I had already explained my baby girl trixie had to be put down because her acl/Ccl had completely torn on her back legs and she couldn't walk
We had plans for her surgery we got her custom casted braces
My son passed away a few days prior to this happening
The surgery was 5000 to 7000 each surgery with no guarantee
Her response once again she was confused with so many options out there why did You put her down
Well one you just lost me there I think my child's funeral expenses come first!
I have fostered many dogs for the shelters
So I really wanted to get a dog that needed a home and not a seller but you caused that not to happen congrats on losing a dog a good home
Love them dearly
They are family to me
He would of had a great home but thanks anyway I found my boy I miss and love my girl
My beautiful baby girl trixie and my new handsome boy tucker
Thanks anyway petfinder should find new people y'all suck stay away!

We had been looking for a specific breed for a long time, a golden doodle or a labradoodle. We found a little puppy girl at 3 months that was on PetFinder. We "signed up" to even be noticed by the people who had the puppy, but at no cost. This was unusual because sometimes it costs even twenty dollars to submit your email, name, etc to look for a labradoodle or a golden doodle. So at no charge we submitted our contact information and got an email back. Every email we received back from this "women" not sure if it even was a women, was short with no details at all. A sentence or two at the longest. Extremely vague and didn't seem too concerned about the puppy, or us. So the first week we were told we could come Wednesday, (we are also two and a half hours away from this dog). Then at the VERY last minute, we were told we couldn't come due to a "family emergency". They then said we could come Friday. Friday comes and my parents even one in town, hoping they could drive with us to get our new friend. Late Thursday night we receive an email that says "family matters have turned even worse". So they say "it will have to be Monday". Sunday comes and there's no email about what time to come, where to go, nothing. Monday comes and still no email back, then Tuesday, then Wednesday, then Thursday, and it's still the same. We emailed everyday about this puppy and never heard a single thing back. HOW RUDE? Who does this. The whole thing was just sketchy and they didn't seem concerned at all about the family that was PLANNING on purchasing the puppy. Don't trust this site. I've read many reviews just like this one. Who knows if the puppies and kittens are even there, and if they are, who's taking care? Who was taking care of this puppy while the lady was out of town due to a family emergency? We will never know. Just hope the poor dog is in good hands now and is with a loving family. (Btw, I hope someone from Petfinder reads this.)

My husband returned from deployment and wanted a dog. I sent an email expressing interest in meeting one of their dogs up for adoption and possibly adopting him via email. I wanted to bring my husband there and surprise him by letting him met the dog, along with our other dog. I left my information requesting to be contacted. Collette wrote back and said " We don't do surprises, that said all adoptions start with an application." I was shocked by the response. I wrote back advising we'd already adopted a dog and requested not to be on their email list.(because I "don't do rude people") Collette writes back and I was shocked at how disrespectful she was. She wrote, and I quote, " Congratulations on your new pet! Hopefully it doesn't get returned when the "surprise" wears off." I was absolutely floored that an Executive Director would be so unprofessional and display such an ill demeanor. I will not speak against anyone adopting from Miami Valley Pit Crew because I have been a pit mom for the last 10 years and love the breed. However, I WOULD say prepare yourself for an unprofessional and unpleasant experience. I have adopted many pets and have worked in the Veterinary Field for 9 years. I have helped place many pets in loving homes. I can not believe someone with this demeanor would treat those who are trying to help save lives of pitbulls this way. AND TO TOP IT ALL their mission is
"Encouraging change through positive example". Are... you... kidding me?! Each year I donate to pit bull rescue groups. I will NOT give a dime to this organization as long as Collette Davis is the Executive Director. I shared this story with my co-workers and they've agreed to do the same and spread the word. Go elsewhere if you're looking for a " Positive Example". I have attached a picture of the email sent to me for your own eyes to view.
