I take my animals regularly to the Vet. However, I live in NV only part-time and Dr. Anderson at Vetco Petco indicated it had been a long time since my last visit. I explained that no, I go annually to the Vet back home. She further diagnosed my dog with a heart Murmur, recommendations for care exceeded $1800, which I thought was unreasonable for a heart work up and teeth cleaning. I opted for a second opinion. My dog, my dog in 10 years has never been sick, had never had any diagnosis and was scheduled today and the PetCo grooming; however he was declined services. I'm shocked. Dr. Anderson, makes a diagnosis on a 10 yr old dog and puts in her criteria no grooming? Weird. I'll take my dog elsewhere. I believe the standard of care is to see the Dr. Annually for shots. I believe most pet owners chalk it up to it's the Dr. advice and pay whatever, but only you can be your dog's best advocate. Unnecessary testing and cardio grams and even teeth cleaning can stress your dog out. I think weigh your options before treating your dog unnecessarily for the benefit of the Vet.

My vet has faxed in approval 4 times and Petco claims they did not received. I never had this problem with any other on line pet RX company. Don't use PETCO!

No Issues!

I order from Petco every 1~2 month to get pet food and haven't had bad experiences. I would buy from them much more often but a lot of their supplies go out of stock very quickly so it doesn't leave me much choices but to buy elsewhere or in-store. However, there are a few things I would definitely keep in mind as a customer:

1. Their same day delivery is $35+ and there's very little mention on the product page that the item is delivered by DoorDash. Personally, I don't mind since it's free, but it would've been nice to know sooner as I felt bad not knowing that I had to pay gratuity or tip to the driver which is optional but I felt like a jerk not doing so.

2. They cancel pick-up orders without reason. Although it's usually because they're out of stock, this should be specifically mentioned to the customer. At the end, I still get an email from Petco asking me to rate my item but the item was out of stock so I never got it.

Overall, my expectations are not high for a pet supply store. They get the job done, they delivery my items, customer service treats me with respect so I have no complaints.

Absolute worst customer service from grooming mgr Alex. We had a 1pm appt for a simple nail clip. We always see Beth, but she's not back until next week. Last time she wasn't there, a man did his nails where they were bleeding. When Alex decided, at 1:10pm, to come talk to me, I told her I didn't want the guy because of our past experience. She said I offended both She and the guy groomer and I could leave. I asked why. She said if you don't want him, you are insulting us. Told me to come back next week when Beth returns! I told her I'll never step foot in that store again, and asked her name. Entire time had her arms crossed, very non welcoming. I woukd like to hear from the regional mgr. This is completely unacceptable to a consumer.

The worst online service

Petco has the very worst customer service. The customer reps are incompetent. Very frustrating to deal with. Suffice it to say I will never order from Petco or step foot in a Petco store again. Many stores come and go and there are at least 6 other on line stores providing pet products. Go elsewhere

Leopard Gecko Abuse
September 23, 2021

I have personally made 5 separate comments regarding the leopard gecko enclosures at the location in Carlsbad off of Vista Way. They are kept in fine grain sand which can cause severe ailments including metabolic bone disorder which is irreversible. It would take 20 minutes of time and materials on site not 5 feet from the habitat to fix this issue. This petco location is actively killing the animals they're trying to profit from and refuse to make this simple change for the good of the animal.

Petco in morgantown wv (Summer) who stated she was the manager, screamed at my 9 year austic son for touch dog food. As his mother it is my place to stabd up for him. I nicely told her it was not her place to scream at him. It is ok to ask him or nicely tell him to stop. If she wantes to scream she could scream at me. She followed up with it is her store and she can yell at anyone and if i dont like it to leave the store. I began to take my 3 children and walk away. It was obvious she was having a bad day. Then she scream i said leave my store. I asked to speak witg manager. She said i am the $#*!ing manager. Asked who was in charge of her
She continued with i own this place. At this point i told her i wasnt completing my shopping and asked her for her name. I said ill will just report her. She she said if i didnt leave she wpuld call police. I shocked her when i replied please do. I completed my shopping spoke to police. They were shocked. I left and called customer service. Some austic children have a sensory issue. They touch everything. Screaming at them scarea them and isnt affect. Its not his fault. He was hitting or making a sound. Just touched 2 bags of dog food. I will be returni g my products and will recommend to all friends, family, and service members to not support such a horrible store. That disrepect customers and yell and hurt children.

Don't shop here

This is the worst store and I highly recommend you DON'T shop here! I went to their website to see if they had deworming meds for my dog and the results showed they had 5 in stock. When I got to the store there were 4 boxes of what I needed on the shelf. I took it to the checkout line and the clerk grabbed the box and left. She didn't say anything to my husband or I…not hello, how are you or even to tell me she had to go check the cabinet to grab the actual medication since only the boxes are put on the shelf. Finally she came back and very rudely says, "we don't have this!" Mind you, these are the first words she spoke to us. Instead she could've nicely said I'm so sorry but it appears these are out of stock and I'll have the boxes removed from the shelf. My husband then asked her why the website says they have plenty and why there were also 4 boxes on the shelf? Again in an extremely rude tone she replies with, "I'll remove them from the shelf." That's not what I asked. I reminded her it was extremely frustrating for people who look at the store website ahead of time so they don't have to go to 10 different stores to come in and find they have none even though all the boxes were on the shelf, but then it's even worse when the clerk is rude and clearly doesn't care. I was the jerk because I needed something from her store. So because I expressed my frustration to her store, her website and her bad attitude she says to me, "don't ever come back here". Well guess what…I only went there as a last resort and I now remember why I stopped shopping there years ago. The animals are in poor condition and are marked down because they've been in the store so long, you have terrible customer service and you have nothing in stock even though your website says you do. I have no problem with never going back. Shame on you Petco!

I was a victim of false advertising/fraud. First, their banner says "Free same-day delivery on orders $35+ when you order by 2PM". There is no footnote or anything noting any exlcusions at all. Second, when I went to checkout, on the checkout page it specifically said "You're saving $12.24 on this order PLUS free shipping!" but then when I placed the order, I was charged $11+ for shipping, even though my total order was $46+ dollars and even though it specifically said the $12.24 was on top of free shipping. When I contacted customer support to get a refund on shipping as free shipping was advertised & gauranteed at checkout, they said there was no way they could do it. They gave all kinds of excuses that blatantly went against what they advertised and what was promised at checkout including that I wasn't getting free shipping anymore because of the $12.24 discount, even though the checkout page specifically said I was getting free shipping in addition to that. They would not honor their agreements and engaged in fruad. Also their customer service chat feature is almost impossible to use because it was a white background with white font, so customers cannot see what/when they are typing.

Shipped quickly & they have a lot of inventory.

Grooming services

I have been utilizing Petco grooming for many years and this is the first time they truly did a big disservice. I scheduled an appointment for my dog at 4:15. At 4:20 EXACTLY, Brittany (a groomer from Petco) calls and says you are 5 minutes later we can't see your pet. I told her I'm in the parking lot (which I truly was) and she said sorry we are booked. I am sorry that you guys are booked but I scheduled an appointment. I do understand if their plate was full for today. But you don't tell someone no if they have an appointment scheduled and is within the 5 minute grace period. I work in a customer service job myself and I would NEVER tell someone that. Thank you Brittany for making Petco lose a customer

My order was messed up somehow in their system and they were unable to work with me to get the problem fixed. Was even told by the customer service rep that there was no supervisor! Finally gave up and ordered from another provider.

Petco has been absolutely awful to work with. I have had the same issue on my account for over 4 months now and have called multiple times. I requested to have my repeat delivery canceled as I no longer need pet food from them and every time I call to get help (because their app never works) I get told they will take care of the issue, call me back when it's completed, AND IT NEVER GETS FIXED!

I am so over Petco, I still have the issue and no one has seemed to care that this is a huge inconvenience to me. I am now wanting my entire online account to be deleted off their system because this. Has. Been. A. Headache.

Very unprofessional. I still have my issue of having repeat deliveries when I don't want them. They are wasting my time and energy and I am SO put off with their services.

We have been faithful customers of Petco repeat delivery program for over 5 years! For the last 2 months they have chosen to cancel our order in favor of sending our bags of food to new customers. No doubt in hopes of snaring new fools to replace those of us who have wised up about their repugnant marketing strategy. But read more, their quality control is horrible. The smell differs from bag to bag with some having a distinctly rancid odor. And God help you if you try to work with what passes for customer service. They couldn't give you an honest answer if they wanted to, and they don't want to!

Dog $#*! customer service. Petco repeat delivery is dog $#*!, it kept sending items early and I had to go out of my way to return it to the store. Anyways, the representative wouldnt let me explain the situation and he himself was confused about what was happening instead he "escalated" the problem but, nobody got back to me about what was going on. Rude customer service employees

Went into the seekonk MA store to pick up filter media for my aquarium. While there figured i scope out other items thaat they carry. First it was an employee looking for something in the isle that i was in. A few seconds later the employee and a manager were in same isle. Both left isle and emplyee in pet dept comes in isle with the emloyee from earlier, looks at something on the shelf, making a few comments then left. I have worked in retail for over 15 years and know exactly what they were doing. Very unprofessional. Will never go back to that store again. I will order off amazon first.

For the second time in 3 months, an order I placed online for same day pick up has been canceled. When I place the order in the morning, the inventory is available, and a few hours later I get an email saying the order has been canceled. The first time this happened, I let it pass. This being the second time, I can no longer trust Petco to meet my pet care needs. As a result, I will be switching where I shop for my pet food and supplies.

Placed an on line order. Went to return it in the store., Currently they are not accepting returns under the umbrella of COVID. I am all for keeping the public and employees safe. I asked about a free return label. In store and on the phone I am told they are offering it. When I called to process the return today, I have spent 90 minutes on the phone, have been disconnected 5 times and denied access to a supervisor. They tell me this is not the case so I should just hold the products until they accept in store returns. In the meantime, I have products that are of no use to me and they have my PALS rewards and my money. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. Even worse, I posted this on their Facebook page and while the response was prompt I am simply told what the script they read from dictates... Hold the product until the in store ban is lifted. What is wrong with this picture?!
WHILE PETCO MAY BE WHERE THE PETS GO, THE POINT CORPORATE IS MISSING IS THAT THE PETS DON'T TAKE THEMSELVES THERE AND DISCOUNTING THE VALUE OF THE OWNERS RESULTS IN LOST REVENUE.
