I have talked with so many caring people in their chat room, that is moderated. The prices are dirt cheap for a dating site. Its a god send to have this and not have to try a normal dating site that stigmatizes you.
Your missing out if you don't give it a try, its great talking with others who understand mental illness.

Do not register for this site! Most of the users, a good 99% of them are psychopaths, including the owner! A lot of these psychopaths have multiple accounts to trick new users. The chat room or what should be called the psychopath room MUST be avoided! I don't use the site anymore but when I did, I noticed when a new member joined, they would only stay on the site for perhaps a week and not come back. The worst users come from Washington state and the UK. If you want to feel worse than you already do, than by all means join this site BUT if you want to feel better, than don't even bother joining.

I think all chat sites have some element of trolls, scammers, whiners, and drama queens. NLL is just like every other site. It gets its mix. Throw in a lot of mental illness, and you can really have some interesting days... The sitemaster could do a bit more babysitting... That being said, I will say, I have been on the chat site since October of 15, and have really enjoyed this site more than any other I have been on. I am not the leper on the wall with MI in a room full of people who don't get it. This is mostly about chatting on the site. Its free, you can pick your default font, there arent sexbots popping up every so many programmed seconds, and I have met some genuinely decent people there... One in particular, when I wasnt looking for dating there, ended up being involved with... so yeah, I an NLL success story, and I am thrilled I went there... even without having run into a wonderful person that I adore romantically, I have made several friends there, skype with several, and it keeps the lonliness at bay, which is why i went there to begin with... Isolation is very tricky adversary, and it breeds depression. I use NLL to combat that, and it works. Also, the lifetime membership is a great deal! I paid for one month once to have benefits to change my name, and Oh My, it was 3 bucks... didn't break the bank!

I'm an attractive girl in my twenties and I hardly get any mail here at all. Its like a dead site lol. I get plenty of messages on other sites and my tinder is ablaze lol. It truly sucks because I hoped to find a connection with a man who understands mi, but the guys here are duds unfortunately.
Usually 5 people online, the same profiles of mute male users, but even if more are on no one talks? If y'all are so lonely, maybe this is why. I like men to be more assertive. I know they can be anxious, but your on a site to connect, so try at least. When I do get mail ir a 'smile' it's from men old enough to be my grandpa. Boring site, and the bugs here make it hard to communicate, maybe thats why I dont get much mail.

Just like any other site on-line there are frauds, scammers and genuine people. Personally, I haven't had and dating or relationship luck on the site after many years. There are haters and real people among the chronically normal and undiagnosed as much as there are among those who are psychiatrically labeled.
Despite no luck personally, I still like the site a a viable alternative to way more expensive dating sites with as many, if not more, scammers and frauds.

As others have said, stay away from the chatroom, it's effectively a front for criminal activity. Pleas to the webmaster are ignored, while complaints are routinely dismissed with genuine members being labelled "paranoid" - charmed I'm sure. Thus fake users are allowed to run rampant. There's even a admin from Russia who can't speak English one minute, then is rattling off perfect sentences the next. - Despite the sites help page advising people to be wary of members from the eastern bloc.

Word to the wise, never send anybody you haven't met in real life through NLL, money/gifts, no matter how persuasive or reasonable they might seem, because there are women on there seemingly making bank, at the expense of the mentally ill.

Awful awful place.

I purchased a lifetime membership because at the time it was a good deal. I ended up canceling my membership and deActivating completely. I met 2 guys in real life from this site. One was local and the other lived a long ways away. Neither of them were romantic, but more like temporary friendships. Neither of these guys had a diagnosis of any kind, but just felt more comfortable on the site.
The problem is the chat. There are cliques and they lash out at other members. They gang up on people. It actually made me feel worse. I got a whole lot happier when I got off this site and less depressed. The webmaster is not responsive to problems of inappropriate behavior. There are mentors on the site and one of them is not particularly healthy or helpful. In fact she is toxic,
After I got ganged up on I left the site and moved on to better things in real life. It's a waste of time and money as well as emotional energy.

NLL, a community of people who may struggle more than most who sometimes like to date, has a lot of perks. If you're recently diagnosed with a mental illness or have had one for some time and would like to meet others with similar difficulties or experiences, NLL is the place to be.

The site offers a simple yet robust way of searching for other like people, if dating is your thing, of all kinds. If you're looking to make new friends, NLL is also great for that.

The NLL chat room hosts all kinds of people with unique backgrounds, idiosyncrasies, difficulties in life and their respective challenges, like most people. The mods are great as they have proven themselves to be incredibly compassionate, patient and open-minded to both new members and old. They always have something helpful to say and are nothing less than great people with good hearts. Most of the individuals I've met on the site are doing everything they can to get a handle on their challenges; which usually involves medication, mindfulness, and therapy.

That's not to say chat doesn't sometimes take a wild turn; as topics can range the entire gambit at any given time.

Most people are on NLL for the same reason; to find like minded individuals and to share in their journey; to vent, to ask for help, to find reassurance that they are not the only ones suffering their unique illness.

Kudos to the web master for creating the site and mad respect to the community for helping my life be less lonely.

Long time subscriber here, bought while I was homeless instead a hot meal! Have observed the site go through various stages and while the majority of problems seem to stem from the sites chatroom, with racist comments being thrown around with great aplomb / threatening & abusive language / moderators abusing their positions, it's other areas of the site these same members pollute that have been taken offline. Au revoir to the wonderful forum and blog sections, features that were advertised as lifetime guaranteed access, while the chatroom remains open. Backwards logic by site administration.

Very disappointed to see what NLL has become, and how Jim seems to have allowed himself to be manipulated by a certain member, into shutting down parts of the site. Jim should be begging former members to return, those who made NLL great in the first place, than placating those eternal whingers (but only when it suits), who have contributed to the sites downfall.

The webmaster spoils what could be a great site. He really doesn't care about the atmosphere on the site, or whether the site works properly. He lets people get away with very unpleasant behaviour. Also the site is full of bugs that never get fixed. And the webmaster almost never replies to e-mails. And on the rare occasions that he does, he doesn't care about what the person has written to him about. The chatroom is sometimes OK though.

This site needs to be shut down! The people posting positive reviews for this site, are the nut jobs from this site. Don't believe any of the positive reviews. The worst part of the site is the chatroom and the people in there, especially the moderators who are bullies. The site is worse than middle and high school! A lot of 40 year olds on here act like 10 year olds.

I have been a member of nll for 14 years. Made some real life friends from the site. But dont go on chat. Screwed up people are on chat. People that easily insulted or feel slighted. I am a bible reading christian and my faith has enormously helped my mental health. I also am very functional in the world. The chat room has women in their 30s that for some reason cant get dates or boyfriends so they are jealous of male attention you get from guys on chat. And if your older thsn them, prettier than them, they cant handle it and their claws come out. I live a wholesome with good values and have no problem getting suitors. Basically its a bunch of loser women on chat that have never been married. Its AWFUL. Stick to adults on the site that you can message. Sometimes you bump into good eggs that are consistent. Chat is loserville to the max.

Stopped into chatroom reluctantly just to take a peek and what a surprise! A dark force lies in the chatroom. Drug addicts and alcoholics that have a gang run the chatroom and a couple of mods are in on it. Dont be a fairly healthy person or attractive because you will have the gang show up and start problems. A bunch of $#*!es and freaks! The person that runs the gang is * and she is a heroine addict. Her and her beau. They have various accounts and come in as the gang as other users. * is her pseudo account. The white trash girls in the gang scope out guys to basically prey on and lure into their sick dysfunctional world so anyone who is threat is booted out and humiliated. The people in the gang are * and a few others. Its not a place to get help or better. The place will get you sicker. A bunch of white trash drug addicts hos and broken drug addict men! Stay far far far and far away! It is hell! Literally.

It's good value and promises something very positive to people with mental health issues (such as myself). However, the comments regarding the aggressive attitudes on the site are true. Recently, 'Jim' the webmaster, installed a new website template, which not only brought it up to date but also got rid of the toxic forums, although the chat room still exists. The messaging had teething problems and despite emailing 'Jim' about this, I received no response whatsoever, but did find that someone had been poking around in my profile blocking people and messaging other profiles that were then deleted. I started chatting to someone (supposed to be from the UK) who seemed really nice, but I noticed that some of the writing sounded American and not English and quite fake. The profile was suddenly deleted. I smell a rat. Previously I've had smiles from people who are nowhere near me and never reply to messages, and this seemed like a trick to get me to buy a membership. If you live anywhere other than the US, the users are few and far between. I've cancelled my membership.

I was treated like a piece of crap on this site!, The bad part is, it was the guy running the site!... Accused me of being a scammer, he sent me an email telling me I was so beautiful that he thought I was spam. After leaving him a message I was still marked as spam!... I was making friends in the chatroom, then all of a sudden they were all calling me fake!... Its sad when you go on a site feeling bad and leave feeling worse!... STAY AWAY FROM THESE AWFUL MEAN PEOPLE!
