I had booked a dining table and six chairs. The booking was done in mid April with a request to deliver by mid June. Early june I was given a window of 12 hours to accept the delivery request, due to inability to reply by SMS (as I was overseas), the product was sent to another customer as per their product roll over policy.
A second date was allocated and that too was deferred as they did not have the products.
When I requested a cancellation I was told that since I had failed to accept in the first place I would have to forfeit the deposit amount which was 25%.
After reading the plan for their new house, my daughter and son in law paid a $1500.00 deposit on a grey fabric lounge, to the salesperson at Nick Scali Bankstown store, in NSW.
Three days later, after physically measuring the room they discovered that the lounge suite would not fit into the lounge room by 300mm.
My son in law immediately called the store and explained the situation to the salesperson.
However, the salesperson from the store, explained that the contract to purchase the lounge stated they only had two days to cancel their order.
My son in law and daughter explained to the salesperson and regional manager that they were more than happy to purchase another smaller lounge from the company even if they had to pay a higher purchase price.
The final word from Nick Scali's regional manager was the lounge was already ordered from their supplier (in Vietnam), and the company could not cancel the order.
However, the regional manager said, "as a gift of goodwill, if my daughter and son in law returned to the Bankstown store and purchased another lounge, Nick Scali would give them free extended warranty on another lounge".
In a nutshell, they lost their $1500.00, as the company would not even consider changing the order for a smaller lounge suite, that would fit into their home!
Thet have now purchased another lounge from a reputable family company, plus their new lounge was delivered free to their new home in 10 days.
What a horrible experience for a young couple who have worked very, very hard to save for a deposit for a house, let alone be ripped off by a company that has no values, or flexibility, except making a profit at anyone's expense!
I was treated really well the day of Purchase then badly. Waited many months for my suite. Have had it less than a year it has not enough padding and leather very low quality and has been put on extremely loosely and needs alot more filler. Waiting for it to be done. Very poor quality. So upset. Thought it was Italian but made in Vietnam. Wish I d check reviews b4 if wasted my money
Purchased the Byron bed advertised as Marri wood. Item arrived with veneer peeling off the sides of the bed. No description of veneer as a material. Customer service is horrendous with no response for 9 days and then a pathetic response received. Save your money and shop elsewhere.
Purchased a two seater lounge from Nick Scali with battery operated recliner function. The first battery on one of the chairs didn't even work on delivery. Took three months to get a new battery Three months later another battery gone price to replace $345. Don't buy anything of these people.
I honestly loved my lounge but the quality of the fabric is far below standard and don't even get me started on warranty. What a joke! You get better couches that last from fantastic furniture. We have a couch under 2 years old and the fabric has faded lighter in some patches and then a orange/yellow fade. Our couch sits in the middle of the house and always have block out blinds down. But they won't fix our couch or do anything more about it blaming a window we have in the lounge room.
Second of all they ask you to get another opinion from a lounge repairer but anyone who has a slight interest with Nick Scali won't do it as a conflict of interest. So yet again I have a couch not even two years old that looks like $#*!. Oh and don't worry about the two emails we have sent saying that someone will get in contact with you, they won't, don't even bother. Just save yourself the time and don't buy their $#*!.
And nothing can be done about it. Totally pissed.
My partner and I bought a table for the show room in Fortitude Valley in Brisbane. Kevin was the sales representative. He told us the table was going to get delivery on the Monday and it never got delivered. I call to find out what was going on and the delivery people said that the delivery has not been by Kevin so that they just put a random delivery day that happens to be 15 days after we purchased. I mentioned that the invoice Cleary had the delivery date, they acknowledged that but still said that Kevin missed putting a date in the delivery system, I got in touch in Kevin and he was in a rush to leave for the day and mentioned he was not working the next day, at the end the booked the delivery for the Friday. They were happy to take the money all at once but still refuse to deliver the goods. I am still to see if they will deliver. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM HERE EVER!
Having recently purchased a Hunter recliner lounge all I can say is I am extremely disappointed with the quality of the product. The alignment is completely out on the recliner and I was informed that the Australian standards accepted a 20mm deviation which is what I have with this lounge and it looks shocking. This is NOT what is in the showroom and I was informed that they sit together. If the lounge is not against a wall there are the electric plugs visibly protruding from the back of the lounge, to be told that these lounges are made to go against a wall. I was not informed of this when choosing the lounge. The leather on one of the lounges was creased on arrival and has significantly worsened since it has been sat on. I would recommend for anyone thinking of purchasing a Nick Scali to think again as they are NOT the quality they advertise and what they were previously.
The modern design choices of this long established Aussie furniture and homewares favourite Nick Scali are always first rate. My family and I have always been really impressed by the quality and style.
Friendly Customer service from purchase to delivery and although it may be hard for some to understand that a custom designed lounge in your choice of colour does actually need a few months of lead in time, the end result will not disappoint.
We now have a stunning leather lounge and 2 gorgeous marble coffee tables. And at the price we paid they are very competitive. Thanks Nick Scali we will be back again and again!
We got scammed into buying what we thought was a full leather lounge as it was advertised to find out later most of the lounge is pleather and started to disintegrate after owning the lounge for only a few months! We complained, and they sent out the leather doctor with nothing but excuses. We have since had an independent leather doctor look at the lounge and told us it is not leather. But he can say that because he doesn't have to rely on Nick Scala's work to feed his family.
Started with a service person at Macgregor store who had absolutely no awareness that I was wanting to have some space when browsing for what I was looking for. Went to another store where this improved however this is where customer service ended.
The installation of the lounges is poor- electric mechanism hanging out the back of the lounge, connecting lounges not joining, leather on one of the lounges is of poor quality.
When trying to connect by phone to the store of purchase you are blocked at the call centre in the Phillipines. I have spoken with several call centre staff to be lied to stating they are not permitted to connect calls to the store, others stating they will send urgent emails to not have a response.
The after sales of this highly priced product is nothing short of completely absent. I am extremely disappointed as many years ago I purchased Nick Scali products however in 2023 they are a very different brand of which I would not recommend to anyone.
Do other boomers find it ironic that the next line in the TV theme tune after "are you feeling all right?" Is "I'm not feeling too good myself"…(Traffic, "Feelin' Allright, 1968).
While happy with the customer service when purchasing lounges, the after sales service and response to complaint was more than disappointing.
Three out of five rechargeable batteries have now needed to be replaced. The process involved with the off shore service centre, the associated limited understanding of the issues, need to provide photo evidence - which requires upending of the lounges to access information -, lengthy delays in replacement batteries being available and then not having service jobs linked to the one call out.
The servicemen who attended to the call were wonderful, but also clearly frustrated by the processes and incomplete information passed on to them.
Unfortunately, seems the rechargeable batteries are problematic, have limited life and once out of warranty are upwards of $300 each to replace by Nick scali. Fortunately, I have been advised (by a Nick scali employee) that the batteries can also be accessed through other furniture companies, such as Freedom, and at a much cheaper price for the same product.
Keep well away from this store. The manager and the second in charge ripp me off for over $470 in an order they could not deliver. Promise the money back within 7 days. And still no refund. Danger Danger Will Robinson.
Worst service ever, made payment in full, bed delivered with part missing.replacement due following week.then day before receive email saying it will probably be delivered in a month, no reason given for delay. Extremely poor( non existent customer service) Had to phone and find out what was going on several times.still waiting for promised call back.no apologies and very vague with delivery information. Cancelled order and got full refund. Would give this company a zero review, feel sorry for staff working for them
I recently brought 3 items from Nick Scali. Firstly they charged me 3 delivery fees, though it was comming in the same truck. What a rip off. Secondly their customer service team (don't know where they are located) was so rude with their attitude, approach. Gone are the days where Customer comes first. Its their way or the highway. I was trying to explain to them about the problems I was having with the delivery time, there was no consideration of what I was telling them. Very threatening in saying if you dont accept the order we cancel your order and your deposit will be forfeited. This is the last time I am using Nick Scali, I will be going else where in future. So buyers please be aware when you buy something from them.
So disappointed in this service
If waiting 8 weeks longer than advised for our $8k lounge to be delivered wasn't disappointing enough (kept cancelling our delivery)
Then when finally arrived, we were to find our 2 battery packs do not work. So we can not use one lounge, we now have to wait weeks for a technician to come and look at this
Not happy
The Hunter Leather Lounge we purchased had a tear, was replaced. However, the new replacement has a 2.5 centimeters height discrepancy in one of the lounge seats. Unfortunately, after scheduled bookings from their offshore phone provider representatives we have received last minute text of "the technician is sick." TWICE that has happened; this is not a fobbing off of hoping we will "go away and live with this inferior" product, After 8 text correspondence and speaking to offshore service providers (no direct line to branch at all) I am fed up. Contacting Consumer Affairs and will use the power of many social media news/outlet to share my dissatisfied experience with this company. Ther is nothing Italian in any Nick Scali product!
Don't bother buy any of the furniture that has battery packs, they don't even last a year and charge $345 to replace. I will never buy from Nick Scali again between the batteries and how long everything takes to get done, they are a waste of time and money.
Their delivery service is woke. Took a morning off work as they said they would be there between 7 - 10am. Rang at 9 and the driver said they were just loading and that they would be there around 11. Sat around and got another text saying they would be there between 12 - 2. This is on top of several emails all advising different delivery times. So basically I had to use up a days leave to wait around for a delivery that was promised between 7 - 10am. There needs to be an overhaul of their delivery service/text messaging as it just causes frustration and anger.
