It is a sick website and poor excuse for a neighborhood "tool." Google "Nextdoor" - the search results push everything down except for the corporation's website. Trying to contact "Staff" is an exercise in circular blocking. They don't want you to contact them. The Leads are morons in my neighborhood.
They remove your posts on a whim from their army of Adolescent moderators including your For Sale Posts...They also protect Criminals and Jeopardize the safety of their users by removing posts from their users that point out neighborhood community crimes...They then in turn remove any posts critical of criminal behavior and then restrict the accounts of those that posted because Nextdoor stats that anyone posting about crime or theft in their posts are guilty of public shaming...like shaming criminals is a bad thing...These people that run Nextdoor are a bunch of insane Liberals is San Francisco, so this policy of theirs should surprise no one. DO NOT USE Nextdoor.
Posts by my neighbors are very helpful. It's nice to know that someone else in my area is having a problem with cable, etc. It makes it easier to get the cable co to escalate it to an area issue, not an individual problem. For the most part, people are civil. I like that I can adjust what I want to see.
It's great to share information with neighbors and get updates on neighborhood issues. I live in the Sierra Foothills in California and we have issues with weather, fires, wild animals, and security that are routinely discussed. Also keeping up on home values and other local issues in the community.
Leads are bullies and generally side with the criminals. Heaven forbid you report a crime or try to get a response from the company, you'll get mocked and harassed and ignored. Best to stay quiet and not report anything or your account will be deleted. This platform is a haven for criminals and the customer support is nonexistent.
Overall, I feel ND offers a great opportunity for neighborhoods to connect with each other. It offers a wide variety of topics for people to share, who are genuinely interested in community, services, recommendations, and concerns in the area.
I have used Nextdoor a multitude of times looking for recommendations of various services. I find it to be a wonderful tool in many facets. I visit Nextdoor on an average of 2/3 times daily. I stay informed about things going on in our area whether good or bad.
I like the ease of finding out the goings on of my neighborhood. Whether it's yard sales, new people moving in or out, or just wishing everyone a Happy Easter, or Merry Christmas. It's also a way to meet your neighbors.
I find the Next-door neighbor web site is an excellent way to stay in touch with things happening in my local neighborhood. It can be very useful if I am looking to buy things, sell things, or need to find resources for projects that I may need help with.
They delete factual information of neighborhood events that don't fit their political leanings. They delete opinions if they differ or challenge their liberal mantras. They are part of the cancel culture trying to promote their personal political and social agenda to move the U.S. into becoming a socialist country.
Initially, I found Nextdoor to be a wonderful site where I could go and find out what's going on in my neighborhood. However, recently, when I clicked on a post "car burglarized" it immediately took me to a bunch of advertisements and I could not get back to the post I was trying to read. Completely frustrating. I'm sad to say I don't have the patience for this site and will most likely delete the app.
I enjoy the up to the minute nature of the news and situations covered on the Nextdoor website. I also appreciate getting a variety of opinions on various issues without the conflict which can arise in large group conversations, which have their place, but can become hostile and uncomfortable. It also gives me the chance to consider other views and ponder the points they raise before the time to vote. And it keeps us connected, and gives us opportunity to act in a neighborly way.
Twice I have received in the U.S. Mail an "invitation" from someone who just gives a name and street name: No email, No actual address. No phone. AND this unknown to me person wants me to join a group giving out my entire personal history?
Who is crazy enough to do that? No phone, no email, no return address? From the facilitator?. Thanks, but No deal.
Drama. The site can be used for deformation of character, prejudice and malice even by Federal Gov't employees with the US Secret Service. It can create polarization of neighbors and attacks on opposing views. Do not use the site for Homeowners Association. Also Nextdoor will ban you from the site if someone calls stating that they are with the Federal Gov't without proof. Also the Lead Adm can read your private emails and delete them if they are not what they want others to know.
This website is for people to just talk trash about others apparently. They want to kick people when they're down and they have no life of their own obviously they want to get in everybody else's business. It's just a gossip website
I had to deactivate my account because I reported a racist post that was not taken down and I continued to receive racist comments. Yet, Nextdoor will censor any word that comes near swearing, or "mean" toned content. A really stiupid site for really stupid people.
This site has nothing to do with neighborhood friends. This site has much more to do with political control of the local neighborhood and those that oppose, get booted for life!
Next-door is a waste of time!
It clearly states that there's no bashing and no slandering but they continue to let this happen time and time again. I don't understand it, they are suppose to help you feel safe and help you but really all this app does is cause drama. I get it's okay to have an opinion but there's a difference between an opinion and bashing. I've seen it for several weeks now, against people, companies. It's ridiculous I've reported it but nothing helps. I give up on this app and the community I live in.
First I didn't find the site to be user friendly and I
Can't believe all the personal information they had about me and my neighbors. Scary to think if they figured out to get all that information from me and my neighbors then anybody can. I am also concerned about all the child molesters that will also be on this site. Now if they didn't before they know your name. What you look like know email information and your exact address. If they are one neighbor hood over they can and will watch you. I believe it puts out children in danger. Now I know somebody going to say i know or we know who they are and where they live. The thing is now they know also. All it takes one mention that you have kids. I think the creator of this program. Had good intentions. I see it a flop..
The only thing that makes this app and social media site remotely useful is connecting to neighbors via sub groups that are set up outside of the normal site. Since next-door has partnered with GoFundMe, it's become really annoying, trying to decipher which GoFundMe are actually legitimate, and which are scams. Note most of them are scams because no one vets anybody. They just let them on the site. On top of that there is this constant nanny state where admin pull comments simply for saying common sense things. Very woke. If it wasn't for the subgroups, I wouldn't even bother. It's very toxic.
Answer: The negative reviews are honest reactions to being duped into sharing too much personal information (that Nextdoor now owns and will NEVER delete and will continue to sell to advertisers until your dying day) to join a site that seems friendly on the surface, but which does NOTHING to protect users. I was bullied by a convicted murderer, who is a Lead in my neighborhood--and I was banned from the site for complaining. Leads are nothing more than early adopters of the site who have been assigned power over other users so that Nextdoor does not have to police it's own site. In short: No. The negative reviews are not wrong. Heed them! I wish I had known before it was too late!
Answer: Forget about nextdoor and leads. Get a life, a real one. Don't waste your time with toxic online communities that tend to get the worst out of people. My advise is run away while you still have some dignity left.
Answer: Kay is right. That is their policy. However, don't expect them to hold to it. We have leads unfairly removing only some people's comments and Nextdoor does nothing about it. Best bet, dump nextdoor.
Answer: Neighborhood. Rocks is in development. Another 6 months.
Answer: Truth is like oil and water. As long as the scam artist have enough venture capital (other people's money) they will continue to shake the bottle leaving it a murky view obscuring the truth. Run out of cash, they'll be exposed for the incompetent boobs they are and the top dogs will clear out their bank accounts and move on to the next scam. One look at their "leading edge tech" pulled right out of the 1980's is proof enough they will die in the tar pits just like the fellow dinosaurs. Want a state of the art app? Check out https://wiggio.com or www.neighborhoodlink.com
Answer: Dallas, SiteJabber rates it at 16%. It would surely rate lower if there weren't so many fake positive reviews. Folks review Nextdoor either 1 or 5. The fives read like ads about Nextdoor's features and potential. The ones are written by real people and give accounts of how awful their experiences were.
Answer: Several other reviewers on this site have had the same thing happen to them. We have been fully banned from nextdoor (beyond just "suspension"), but they keep our profiles, and sometimes our names still appear in the neighbor registry. They refuse to remove us fully, I suppose, in an attempt to misrepresent our endorsement and participation there. It's clearly unethical, but their TOS states that they can do this, as any nd apologist will point out.
Answer: Here's a tidy answer from corporate... Hi Colleen, Thanks for getting back to me. Our Community Guidelines prohibit posting about Lead activity on the main newsfeed. If your Leads are inactivate and youre concerned about moderation in your neighborhood, you should reach out directly to Nextdoor Support. If you have any specific concerns I can help you with at this time, please let me know. Best, Amanda Nextdoor However, the minute you alert corporate to issues with leads in your community you'll find your account terminated. They are very protective of the information surrounding who really is controlling the activities on the boards. Most people in my community are under the misguided impression that corporate is in control. They don't even consider it is their neighbor who sits in judgement.
Answer: Nextdoor wants your full legal name, house number and address and your email address that they link all together. As an added bonus... They have a little map that you can click on. That way if, OMG, you offend someone the little map leads them straight to your house. Run, do not walk, away from this site. No good comes from Nextdoor.
Answer: Your name and address will be known to everyone who uses the NextDoor application and website. I don't suggest using it. I recently discovered that low income apartments in ghetto areas might be able to use the application to do crime. Car theft, asaaults, kidnapping and just about everything else under the sun.
