Nextdoor is a stupid app for idiots to complain about petty issues. If you bring up any important topics such as the mismanagement of your HOA, you will be blocked! They also won't give any information on how you supposedly violated their community standards!

Please think twice before initiating Nextdoor for your community or joining your community page. I have witnessed over the last 6 months our community being torn apart. It inspires rude, curt, harsh, insulting, hostile and defamatory statements to be made. You see a side of your neighbors you gave never seen before. Fights are started and long time friendships ruined. Leads have an enormous amount of power and use it to support their own agendas. They will allow horrid conversations to continue if it supports how they feel on an issue and stop and/or delete those conversation that don't support their views while allowing controversy to grow. Nextdoor is very one sided in supporting Lead's action and disregard the multitude of complaints they receive from neighbors. Much of the damage is unable to be recovered from.

Love being local
July 18, 2019

Making new connections, learning about great local events and service experts, buying and selling made easy and up to date information during emergencies are only a few of the valuable things Nextdoor gives us!

The app and website seem like a good idea at first. Then you get to know your neighbors. NextDoor has its share of garage sale items, and swim team meet details, but there's an ugly side. Every person "who looks out of place" walking on the sidewalk gets called out on the app. God help you if you're black and knocking on doors in our neighborhood.

The app sends "push notifications" for urgent alerts tagged as "Crime & Safety". This means that every bored, stupid Desperate Housewife who gins up a fantasy of danger now has the ability to push her stupid blather straight to your cell phone.

Case in point: This Tuesday, after a Memorial Day party at the clubhouse. The remnants of a water balloon fight were spotted by an especially stupid, fearful neighbor who posted about our "SCARY" "black tar heroine[sic]" problem.

If you think you hate your neighbors, but want to be totally sure about it, get this app or visit the website. You will never doubt how much you hate them again.

Bias Crap
April 28, 2020

Run by a leftwing bunch of $#*! that will delete your posts and threads for no apparent reason other than some members disagree with your views. Oh, and the ultimate honor is when they suspend your account for four days. Then you know you are getting too close to reality... don't waste your time on this trashy site...

Toxic platform
January 27, 2022

NextDoor creates an environment of toxicity by allowing their "Leads" to wreak havoc through power trips. They don't have any criteria for people to be Leads. Complaints about abuse by Leads are not dealt with. Hate this platform! Cancelled my membership and encourage others to do the same.

I signed up, thinking a great way to know what's going on in the neighborhood. Mainly for Problems like B&E's, Vandalism, Jockey Boxing, car theft, etc. It's nothing like that! Overwhelmed by ignorant people, airing all kinds of pointless info.( ie "My neighbors plays his music too loud). If you want to join an online "Sewing Circle" with a bunch of Karen and Todd's griping about F-All. Do yourself a favor and avoid it, you'll hate people even more!

Found Adriana as a super referral for home cleaning services. Adriana is a dynamic deep cleaning pro to put our condo up for sale. Looks good enough to stay. Fast, reliable, competitive pricing, good communicator. A true five stars out of five *****. Forget the rest, even on Groupon, and you won't regret. Tom Flynn 35 years a real estate broker, appraiser, FHA Compliance Inspector, Bank Inspector and 100% EBay rated buyer/seller so no B. S. here. Choose Adrianna! Did way more than expected. Did like her own home and family coming for Christmas clean!

Good Local Information.
December 21, 2019

I have been able to successfully use several of the recommendations that I have gotten from my neighbors. It makes me feel more secure about calling someone when a neighbor has recommended them. Also go information about what is happening nearby.

I used to love nextdoor, but now all people want to argue about is politics. You have one side making the most heinous claims, yet rarely do their accounts face suspensions or bans. However, anything considered to be 'conservative' is muted in a blink of an eye.

Criteria for Leads (area leaders) is insufficient. The supervision or management between the Leads and the corporate office does not exist. Try to establish protection plans for neighborhood safety and you will be stepped on and your message deleted. Nextdoor is only for small talk from simple minded people where bad people feel safe in attacking clever ideas. The number of emails you get per day is overwhelming. Out of about 100 emails you might get 2 or 3 messages of value. If you see a black cat walking down the street, this is the place to report it and discuss it. Nextdoor is a for-profit company that profits from advertising. They simply threw a program out there and let it regulate itself at ground level. If you are smart enough to read then you can find better places to communicate with your neighbors. Look for Meetup.com groups.

I check on this website at least once a day. So far it has helped several members find their lost pets and share their stories with us. I always know when prowlers are lurking and anything weird or dangerous is happening in our neighborhood as well as local events taking place.

I love the Nextdoor app. Fortunately, ive never seen any negative posts. It's all been very helpful. I'm not concerned about having to divulge my address because anyone who is on it has also divulged their address.

Love Nextdoor for service referrals, and general info on what's happening around me. Being older, single, with no kids - I don't have the usual ways to connect with neighbors. I have also acquired, for free or low cost, some needed items from their postings. Invaluable to this self-employed Dance Teacher, who works odd hours, but has been here for decades;~)

Nextdoor is an excellent source of neighborhood news, information on nearby medical professionals, repair services, dining, just about anything. You can ask for help, sell stuff, help solve others' problems, and get help with your own.

3 weeks trying to get my business verified. Sent in back statements with the company name listed. Still wont verify because they cant understand that in small coastal towns of the pacific NW you have a street address where you DONT get mail and another address where you do. Thats ok From what Ive read now online glad I havent spent any money advertising here.

Big Scam! First red flag is return address - no actual street number and not even mailed from my state. The person listed as the sender does not own property in our county. Find a better use of your time.

I have found this company Nextdoor very intrusive with Ads and unreliable for oversight in content. It's too bad Nextdoor has been bought by corporations that pay advertisements rather than focus on small businesses and actual neighborhood run services.

The crime & safety part of Nextdoor is useful. It's good to know what's going on in your area. I wish someone provided this info separately.

Nextdoor attracts opinionated people who have to be right. After some time there, you realize how much better life was before you knew anything about your neighbors. Everyone was nice because they didn't cross boundaries, and get into cliques and gossip. The old saying is true: fences make good neighbors. Nextdoor cultivates the opposite of that. It brings out ugliness, competitiveness, hubris. I'll never go back.

Big Brother & Sister!
November 16, 2017

I finally deleted my account as there are way too many who obviously have nothing better to do. Tried to make some money by walking/boarding dogs and the minute I posted regarding services, they slapped my hand. Funny how when others kids post about mowing grass, etc., they stay on the site for months! Donna B - you are so right!
