Nextdoor is censuring posts now. Any reference to rioting in your location is now deleted. The last I saw was an article from the local newspaper the reviewjournal giving readers information time, date and location of a potential hotspot.
Nextdoor has labeled itself as a neighborhood website. Nothing could be further from the truth.
This is a warning that if you are looking for a site where you can freely share information with neighbors without fear or censorship, NextDoor is something you should run away from.
Nextdoor just suspended my account because of some racially heated threads that were not even started by me. It has become a utter cesspool of leftist, socialist ideologies, butthurt feelings of white progressives wallowing in their own white guilt whilst kneeling at the altar at the church of the blm. I speak my mind, always will! I would just recommend if you want a good place to find out the going's on in your neighborhood, just talk to your neighbors instead. Avoid the Nextdoor website like the plague!
A hateful place to go. If you join and post a conservative opinion the Nextdoor liberal vulture members will go on the attack with insults and threats. If you object to that Nextdoor will disable your account for not meeting community standards. It appears Nextdoors idea of an upstanding community are only those who have hard core leftist points of view--stay the heck away from Nextdoor
This anti-American San Francisco based social media tool is the absolute WORST when it comes to selectively censoring any comment no matter how polite that does not agree with all things liberal militancy. It is now dominated by Gestapo brown shirts that hate-bate, race-bate, bully, and then hypocritically gang up and label you as ignorant, hateful and even dangerous.
We are living in an era where freedom of speech, freedom of press and freedom to politely express your opinions on social media are under assault by social media platforms which are all based out of California. Nextdoor is the absolute worst!
After using Facebook for years, going to Nextdoor is like another world. Anyone can report your comment, and you'll find yourself with a Disabled Account. I posted an article about health and safety regarding COVID, for those in my community to read, titled, "NIH director says wearing masks is not 'optional' to curb pandemic's spread". I was told this was not allowed. Uh, why? People post about fireworks scaring their pet, but updates on staying safe, is crossing a line? I created a group, and an individual was repeatedly removed for posting harassing comments and conspiracy theory, and 3 messages to the ONLY Lead, asking if this person could be blocked from the group, offered NO response. I posted in mid-July about my ex having a party of roughly 100 people for his birthday, none wore masks, and my young adult children were there. I got useful information from neighbors, on who to contact about testing. I never gave a name, or home address just my ND area where this happened, so no one there knew who my ex was. My comments to those being helpful were respectful and I ignored those that were hateful, and were they hateful. My account was Disabled for 3 days, and these were the reasons I was given for why. In the last month, my account was disabled twice because they said someone reported that I moved, when I had not. They give 24 hrs to respond. The first time I missed that deadline and it was a hassle to get it reinstated. Then I got an email saying I wasn't using my real name. I have only ever used my real name. I sent a copy of my license as proof.
I will say, it is a good place to get a quick response if you need to hire a handyman for a home repair. I therefore give it 2 stars as it is not only a retake on Angie's List, but meant to be a community service tool. But ONLY if they agree with you.
Nextdoor for the Oak Park area of San Luis Obispo County is a cesspool of misinformation on such topics as COVID and damaging libel against moderate and left-leaning politicians. Facts are not tolerated if they challenge the false narrative and propaganda beloved by the moderates. People A popular reason for banning people is "not using their real names" when the directions clearly direct people to use the name the neighbors know them by. Given that presenting the science on the benefit of wearing masks, for example, will get a person a timeout for weeks or even a banishment with no recourse, Nextdoor is actually a public health hazard and has contributed to the exponential increase in COVID cases, hospitalizations, patients in ICU, and deaths in the county. Nextdoor corporate doesn't appear to give a darn.
I was harrassed and called vulgar names by someone who did this to many on nextdoor when they used the full name nextdoor requires to find me and harass me on facebook i attempted to alter my name to prevent this from happening again i was kicked off facebook but the person who berated me vulgarly was ok with nextdoor but im kicked off for trying to protect myself from being vulgarly harrassed
My roommate met Dave in home depot in helping her find the toilet tank set and Dave gave her his card. My roommate and myself set an appointment for Dave to come out today to complete the job and he only charged $45 and did a wonderful job for us and also very professional and friendly person.
I say "illegally" because Nextdoor has made a point of partnering with local government agencies to post notices from them and let them present their items of interest. When they do that it puts them into a category where they cannot censor opposing opinions. Well, the Gestapo leads go nuts nationwide making sure they practice discrimination against some protected classes as well as certain political opinions... ILLEGALLY.
Terrible company in left wing San Francisco, CA. They suspend all conservative voices and promote liberal hate america members. Don't disagree with them, THEY WILL SUSPEND YOU!
I'm retired and donate much of my time volunteering in the aesthetic preservation of my city. I also use various social media to expose those who violate city and state ordinances! And unsurprisingly, I'm often wrongly accused by those who violate said ordinances, via their reciprocal posts! Unfortunately, its been my experience for "NextDoor" to react in haste, and without investigation or confirmation of others reciprocal claims. They also frequently rush to judgement and accuse members like myself of violating "NextDoor" policies without themselves having an understanding of the scope of these requirements! Thus, their ineptitude and illiteracy is of similar competence to that of the police who arrested George Floyd! Though we can at least be thankful NextDoor moderators are not provided handcuff's, tasers and firearms!
Just a correction to my last message, guess I was wrong to say my membership was canceled. Pardon. I will give them another star.
All people do is act like children and tell on you if you have a strong opinion and they dont agree with it. I got kicked out for 15 days and was given no explanation at all. The admins are a joke and hide in the back waiting for an opportunity to block someone. They are all a bunch of $#*!s if you ask me.
More of a site where the burglars and thieves get to learn about and know about innocent victims, as I have personally noticed this. Nextdoor does not manage their policy violations, and when you complain to Nextdoor about this, they attack you. Site is not managed well at all. People do ask for illegal things and the site just does not care. Really not a neighborhood site. And they sell your personal information, because I used a phone number that no one has, but now all the scammers call that number, all day long. Admins on Nextdoor are sleeping and really don't care.
Many years ago, NextDoor informed me that I'd been made an "admin" and started sending me other neighbors' comments to moderate. While a few of the site's guidelines make sense (don't threaten people or advocate breaking the law), most (be kind, don't soapbox, etc.) are virtually uninterpretable.
I've been able to see how my neighbors and fellow admins navigate this. Sadly, it's only led in one direction--the unclear guidelines are abused to simply censor political views that don't align with the majority view. Worse, neighbors who flagrantly violate harassment rules are given a free pass if they're working on the right "side." As a result, the variety of discourse has suffered, and NextDoor has become a fairly uniform political propaganda platform. When my neighbors need to borrow a lawn mower these days, they're more likely to simply send out an e-mail, and I don't blame them.
You cannot EVER voice a conservative or patriotic opinion without getting slammed by a swarm of liberals, and I mean slammed on your face. It's always the same toxic mob who resorts to vulgar name-calling, and threatens anyone trying to defend themselves with "I know where you live".
One woman make the fatal mistake of describing some boys, who covered the limestone in our botanical gardens with graffiti, as black. Oh the horror! You would think she had just founded the KKK. Thankfully, our police chief, who is black, intervened on her behalf, and reminded everyone that race is given on a police report. It's just not worth the drama to be on Nextdoor. It sucks the joy out of life.
I've been suspended from Nextdoor twice now. First for using the term 'thug' when referring to the rioters and looters. The second time for pointing out someone is 'mask shaming' after she admitted she lectures people if they don't have a mask on EVEN if they have a medical condition.
Nextdoor has a good idea, but terribly implemented. Site is full of nasty political battles, misinformation and bullying is rampant. The "Leads" do nothing to make sure people follow Nextdoor policy and even participate in the bullying. Example. Selling animals is not allowed, yet the same people get away with breeding and selling animals over and over no matter how many times they are reported to Leads. They need to overhaul the system of reporting and shutting down nasty threads and abusive users. Certain threads that always lead to fighting and abuse just need to not be allowed. Could be good, but not right now and its getting worse.
The Nextdoor montra is that they they are for local people and local businesses. However, every aspect of their direction is related national contracts stomping out the voice of local connectivity.
I had a open-house for my office which I posted so that we can start a meet and greet function. Basically a harmless event post. They immediately shut down my service. And at the time, unless I purchased a national package I could not gain any whisper of advertisement. A useless social media platform. It has no sense of neighborly edicate.
Hence is why I use Alignable, FB and other platforms to communicate. Nextdoor is a great concept. However, a huge fail.
It takes a real intellectually dishonest scumbag to color other people's children as inherently RACIST based upon the skin tone they were born into. Then to use your Nextdoor Neighbor platform to promote this slanderous racist divisive and inflammatory rhetorical deep within our communities and censor and silence any dissenting contrarian voices is criminal behavior in the eyes of many. If you they don't cease and desist then I hope they get swiftly sued for every penny they own for promoting and turning a blind eye towards RACISM on your social media platform
Answer: The negative reviews are honest reactions to being duped into sharing too much personal information (that Nextdoor now owns and will NEVER delete and will continue to sell to advertisers until your dying day) to join a site that seems friendly on the surface, but which does NOTHING to protect users. I was bullied by a convicted murderer, who is a Lead in my neighborhood--and I was banned from the site for complaining. Leads are nothing more than early adopters of the site who have been assigned power over other users so that Nextdoor does not have to police it's own site. In short: No. The negative reviews are not wrong. Heed them! I wish I had known before it was too late!
Answer: Forget about nextdoor and leads. Get a life, a real one. Don't waste your time with toxic online communities that tend to get the worst out of people. My advise is run away while you still have some dignity left.
Answer: Kay is right. That is their policy. However, don't expect them to hold to it. We have leads unfairly removing only some people's comments and Nextdoor does nothing about it. Best bet, dump nextdoor.
Answer: Neighborhood. Rocks is in development. Another 6 months.
Answer: Truth is like oil and water. As long as the scam artist have enough venture capital (other people's money) they will continue to shake the bottle leaving it a murky view obscuring the truth. Run out of cash, they'll be exposed for the incompetent boobs they are and the top dogs will clear out their bank accounts and move on to the next scam. One look at their "leading edge tech" pulled right out of the 1980's is proof enough they will die in the tar pits just like the fellow dinosaurs. Want a state of the art app? Answer: Dallas, SiteJabber rates it at 16%. It would surely rate lower if there weren't so many fake positive reviews. Folks review Nextdoor either 1 or 5. The fives read like ads about Nextdoor's features and potential. The ones are written by real people and give accounts of how awful their experiences were.
Answer: Several other reviewers on this site have had the same thing happen to them. We have been fully banned from nextdoor (beyond just "suspension"), but they keep our profiles, and sometimes our names still appear in the neighbor registry. They refuse to remove us fully, I suppose, in an attempt to misrepresent our endorsement and participation there. It's clearly unethical, but their TOS states that they can do this, as any nd apologist will point out.
Answer: Here's a tidy answer from corporate... Hi Colleen, Thanks for getting back to me. Our Community Guidelines prohibit posting about Lead activity on the main newsfeed. If your Leads are inactivate and youre concerned about moderation in your neighborhood, you should reach out directly to Nextdoor Support. If you have any specific concerns I can help you with at this time, please let me know. Best, Amanda Nextdoor However, the minute you alert corporate to issues with leads in your community you'll find your account terminated. They are very protective of the information surrounding who really is controlling the activities on the boards. Most people in my community are under the misguided impression that corporate is in control. They don't even consider it is their neighbor who sits in judgement.
Answer: Nextdoor wants your full legal name, house number and address and your email address that they link all together. As an added bonus... They have a little map that you can click on. That way if, OMG, you offend someone the little map leads them straight to your house. Run, do not walk, away from this site. No good comes from Nextdoor.
Answer: Your name and address will be known to everyone who uses the NextDoor application and website. I don't suggest using it. I recently discovered that low income apartments in ghetto areas might be able to use the application to do crime. Car theft, asaaults, kidnapping and just about everything else under the sun.
