They give so much power to a neighborhood "Lead" who is nothing more than the 1st person to join! My neighborhood has a Homeowners Association (HOA) but the Lead started the Nextdoor "neighborhood" with multiple areas & HOAs. I could understand if we had a small neighborhood but we have 140 lots which is more than the Nextdoor minimum! But our lead has "Blackballed" our request for our own neighborhood like an '80s fraternity! To make matters worse the "Lead" named our geographical neighborhood after the nearby cemetery. Try getting your neighbors to join an app & tell them they belong to the dead person neighborhood!
From a customer service POV, NEXTDOOR has FAILED. After repeated attempt to get an account established and having their system FAIL, I sent them this message: "The simple thing to do was for YOU to fix the problem that exists WITH YOUR SYSTEM... And NOT make me jump thru 27 hoops to get YOUR FAILED SYSTEM to work. You ask for an unreasonable amount of personal data just for me to get access to a system that may be of no value to me whatsoever. You could have simply verified my account from your end and allowed me access. I am DONE with fighting your system. If at some point my community feels the need for me to be on this system I may reconsider. As of now, I can not possibly recommend your system to anyone. It appears to be more of a scam to collect a large amount personal data."
When I first it was a great site and still is only less so. It was a good place to find out what's going on in the neighborhood, especially the crime. But then you get one or two people who take over the site with their "crusade" and won't let go. I got tired of reading about the same issues every single day. Nextdoor used to have a block feature but that went away quickly for some reason. Just getting tired of people complaining about city government and actually doing nothing about it.
Full of complaints and negative comments. No one really cares or is trying to make the community better. Was the most wasted time while I was on there and added no value whatsoever.
I was one of the 1st users of Nextdoor, and thought it was a great way to connect with neighbors. But I also didn't feel comfortable using my full name. I also liked that it allowed people to give away free services/goods to each other.
But all that has changed since the introduction of the "Neighborhood Leads", which are just basically power-hungry $#*!s that love to delete posts and accounts willy-nilly for "self-promotion" or "not having a name that sounds like a person I know" or "giving away services and not paying into our stupid small businesses platform".
$#*! this platform. I will tell everyone I know to avoid it. It's just a bunch of complainers and racists anyway.
I just got my new roof this week. I could not be more satisfied. I would highly recommend this company as they provided outstanding customer service and an excellent roof. I love my new roof.
Here's my most recent pm to the lead:
Lisa, just found this. Once again, you and or Kimberly have avoided the content you judge worthy of censoring. Kimberly originally said to delete my last thread, that morphed into a mandate to combine all my threads and now it has morphed in you closing my threads. Then you accuse me of "using some powerful words"? Good grief. All you or Kim has done is not provide one ounce of proof as to what your decisions are based on, rather just keep accusing with no proof of the accusations.
You simply tell me to read the guidelines. Well, I did. I haven't soap boxed, unless of course, you think replying to a post directed at me is using a "soap box". I haven't used ALL CAPS... oh please, my little bit of capping is no different than anybody elses.
You accuse me of "powerful words" when I can't get a specific answer on anything, just generic replies that reveal nothing as to your decisions. Gee, wonder why? What am I left with to consider. Subjective censoring? Personal bias?... as to what is really going on here?
And, here's some "powerful words" from your lead Kim on my threads:
"Measure B FACTS behind the claims
Don Noakes from Burbank Media District East · 1d ago
Kimberly King-Burns from Burbank Media District West · 1d ago
I'm just tired of all of the various delays, whether NIMBY neighbours or otherwise: "
"Truth behind Measure B: what's really going on.
Don Noakes from Burbank Media District East · 1d ago
Kimberly King-Burns from Burbank Media District West · 1d ago
In my experience with burbank city council, i take a good long look at anything that dr. gordon opposes... and inevitably take the opposite tack. From the national guard armory winter shelter to many other community issues, he has often been on the wrong side of history."

I can certainly see why the good doctor is popular: he almost always says *no* to anything that requires an expenditure of any sort, whether allocated or sought via taxes;-)"
Yet, she tells me to shut it down.
I get what's going on here. It's too bad it has to be this way.
BTW, other's used very powerful words at against me and others on these threads. I can't be responsible for their actions either.
I've been posting for decades and I've seen situations like this before. Now, I have to do what I do in situations like this. Good Day.
Obviously it seems like RIPOFF organization trying to harvest information from unsuspecting tenants. I am not sure how they got my number but then they demanded more and more information. It sounds very suspicious.
No contact number and no one to talk to very suspicious.
They sounded so weird.
My subdivision and the one next door are considered one community. The neighborhood right next door has a bunch of bullies who are always making accusations about other neighbors and their children. One of the women is just a renter and really stirs $#*! up. In one thread they posted about someone riging doorbells in the middle of the night and said they hoped they didn't accidentally shoot a neighborhood teen because if they get a ring in the middle of the night they are answering the door armed. Ok I get it but these women are constantly bullying and accusing neighbors. As a mom of a teen I feel lie I could be accused and I live in the neighborhood nextdoor. They get real nasty if you disagree with them. I hoestly wish I never joined. My subdivision is very peaceful and this is makin me very nervous of the crazies a block over, with their mob mentality.
Do you enjoy big brother watching over you and telling you how and what to think? Do you enjoy censorship? Do you want to fight and argue with your neighbors? Then this is the website for you.
Neighborhoods have been doing just fine without your disservice and ulterior agenda.
The "leads" hold absolute control. They censure whatever doesn't fit their less-than-factual world view (Leads are the "victims" even when the court system says they are bullies). In our neighborhood (Fr... A...), this is a site for agenda and cyber bullying in general... and Next Door is apparently complicit.
Ok. Loved it for a little while. Buttt. Many shortcomings. Mainly it is not monitored or maintained. This classifieds live forever. Impossible to contact posters. Just very weak software. But it serves a purpose.
Most leads are agitators rather than moderators! Be warned, if someone does like a proposal, word or sentence when you post something, you get scolded, berated or your post(s) gets removed... This is worst than the famous Condo Commando syndrome. You try to post something about your neighborhood to help or warn your neighbors and "BANG", all the goody two shoes and nervous politically misinformed come out of the woodwork to attack you. Sorry but my understanding of this site was neighbors helping neighbors and not a platform for personal views. AGAIN another game of humans acting like humans at their best!
Leads are only allowing what they want to, with no regard to guidelines. They appear to have all the power to sensor subjects for true conversation, and NextDoor management will not take any action on the Leads, no matter what.
What makes it thousand times worse is that the Leads are not elected, they are just the first people to sign up for this role.
Because the comments stay 'hidden' so to speak (not in public), neighbors show their worst side by inappropriate commenting.
STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS!
Majority of the leads here in Cupertino CA. Have regularly abused their powers of being a lead... Shamelessy promoting their own agendas and deleting and banning anyone who speaks out not in agreeance with their views.
Leads have allowed profiles proven to be fake to flourish.
Just recently some leads tried to solocit 75K in donations towards their own appeal trial since two superior court judges ruled against the iniative they authored and shamelessly promote non stop.
Leads have modified neighborhood boundaries to fit their own agenda.
Nextdoor support is a joke and has ignored multiple complaints by members including myself and just recently my account was terminated after sending an email to nd support asking why this behavior is allowed to continue unchecked.
An employee by the name of Bobak has never replied to any of the compliants sent to him.
I have 450+ screenshots compiled to support my allegations and will be delivering my dossier to multiple media outlets.
FYI... Nextdoor is a front for data collection of real estate under the guise of being a helpful tool to our communities.
I also have created a survey to allow others to share their experiences... Please share so I can include in my report.

I have been on Next door for a year now. I have had nothing but negative experiences. I have maintained a low profile and never confrontational. But still have experienced and witness such bullying by the leads. They incite billing and negativity, which is not how a lead should behave. I have made several complaints along with others to no avail. They simply do not care.
Our Point Venture, Texas neighborhood lead Janice Cox has been a nazi about anyone promoting anything in our community website yet she gets to promote her website, members have complained to Nextdoor.com many times about her conflict of interest and abuse of her position but they don't care, luckily most of the neighbors think Nextdoor is a joke and dont take anything they see posted on ND seriously but come on! You can see pictures of her promotion at www.pointventure.co (not dot com) Gotta love small town news!
I received a card in my mail to sign up for nextdoor and I had seen who was the neighbor hood LEAD for my era I was horrified to find out it was Mr Chad S. I did a back ground check and found out he had a criminal record for assault and DWI and other convictions and I was talking to my neighbors about this person and I had also found out allegedly that he is the neighborhood drug addict so i was told allegedly. Thats not some one that I want to deal with or would want to share my private information with. Nextdoor should do a back ground check before letting some one be a lead for any neighborhood. This is a horrible service I don't recommend Nextdoor for any neighborhood
Let's take into consideration we don't know anything about the leads other then they did something fantastic in the community. Now let's look at the fact there could be a convicted sex offenders trolling everything people post in their neighborhood. Now I researched the leads and I didn't find any RSO, I did find one lead is is old likes 18 year old gay porn. Every right to view legal porn, but is this what you want to know about lead? Think again about who is watching you in your normal everyday life.
Answer: The negative reviews are honest reactions to being duped into sharing too much personal information (that Nextdoor now owns and will NEVER delete and will continue to sell to advertisers until your dying day) to join a site that seems friendly on the surface, but which does NOTHING to protect users. I was bullied by a convicted murderer, who is a Lead in my neighborhood--and I was banned from the site for complaining. Leads are nothing more than early adopters of the site who have been assigned power over other users so that Nextdoor does not have to police it's own site. In short: No. The negative reviews are not wrong. Heed them! I wish I had known before it was too late!
Answer: Forget about nextdoor and leads. Get a life, a real one. Don't waste your time with toxic online communities that tend to get the worst out of people. My advise is run away while you still have some dignity left.
Answer: Kay is right. That is their policy. However, don't expect them to hold to it. We have leads unfairly removing only some people's comments and Nextdoor does nothing about it. Best bet, dump nextdoor.
Answer: Neighborhood. Rocks is in development. Another 6 months.
Answer: Truth is like oil and water. As long as the scam artist have enough venture capital (other people's money) they will continue to shake the bottle leaving it a murky view obscuring the truth. Run out of cash, they'll be exposed for the incompetent boobs they are and the top dogs will clear out their bank accounts and move on to the next scam. One look at their "leading edge tech" pulled right out of the 1980's is proof enough they will die in the tar pits just like the fellow dinosaurs. Want a state of the art app? Check out https://wiggio.com or www.neighborhoodlink.com
Answer: Dallas, SiteJabber rates it at 16%. It would surely rate lower if there weren't so many fake positive reviews. Folks review Nextdoor either 1 or 5. The fives read like ads about Nextdoor's features and potential. The ones are written by real people and give accounts of how awful their experiences were.
Answer: Several other reviewers on this site have had the same thing happen to them. We have been fully banned from nextdoor (beyond just "suspension"), but they keep our profiles, and sometimes our names still appear in the neighbor registry. They refuse to remove us fully, I suppose, in an attempt to misrepresent our endorsement and participation there. It's clearly unethical, but their TOS states that they can do this, as any nd apologist will point out.
Answer: Here's a tidy answer from corporate... Hi Colleen, Thanks for getting back to me. Our Community Guidelines prohibit posting about Lead activity on the main newsfeed. If your Leads are inactivate and youre concerned about moderation in your neighborhood, you should reach out directly to Nextdoor Support. If you have any specific concerns I can help you with at this time, please let me know. Best, Amanda Nextdoor However, the minute you alert corporate to issues with leads in your community you'll find your account terminated. They are very protective of the information surrounding who really is controlling the activities on the boards. Most people in my community are under the misguided impression that corporate is in control. They don't even consider it is their neighbor who sits in judgement.
Answer: Nextdoor wants your full legal name, house number and address and your email address that they link all together. As an added bonus... They have a little map that you can click on. That way if, OMG, you offend someone the little map leads them straight to your house. Run, do not walk, away from this site. No good comes from Nextdoor.
Answer: Your name and address will be known to everyone who uses the NextDoor application and website. I don't suggest using it. I recently discovered that low income apartments in ghetto areas might be able to use the application to do crime. Car theft, asaaults, kidnapping and just about everything else under the sun.
When neighbors start talking, good things happen.
