I have heard about Karen's on this site. Yep! This Karen objected to me adding a laughing emoji to her inaccurate over emotional rant. She messaged me and continued the rant. I responded and then blocked her. Note-I never threatened her. I challenged her lack of facts. Of course, she whined and I was the one suspended. I read through the guidelines. No, I did not nothing wrong. I appealed and they still insisted in suspending me. I can't wait until the suspension is up. The Karen is going down!
Nextdoor gets 0 stars: This site is terrible; I was unable to get help from Admin: I asked for help from the admin team, about getting my location updated. Instead of helping me they closed my request before the time was up. The site won't let me update my location; I have to wait 30 days. I joined to post about my missing Diabetic cat, the cat will be dead before the 30 days is up to update my location. USING THIS WAS A WASTE OF TIME!
I truly regret trying this before reading the reviews. Nextdoor is truly a spying and chain letter platform. Please don't make the same mistake. We have a commercial in-home server system with commercial software. We are able to block ads. We can ID what ad server spies use and then collect data after we block them. Works GREAT! Blocked literally millions of ads. First Nextdoor spys on you to target ads. Pretty normal. What makes them stand out is the sheer volume of the ads. In 6 hours before I deactivated, I said deactivate not remove (another story) In 6 hours we blocked 5396 ads from the Nextdoor ad server. Not many can have a commercial in-home server system. We can get statistics. Nextdoor takes the cake when serving up ads compared to others. Lol. I also dislike the "chain letter" marketing by Nextdoor acquiring your contacts. Once they have them, they have them forever. In addition, the site itself is mediocre. But that is my opinion. If you read this review stay as far away from Nextdoor as possible! Conversely if you like social media of any stripe give them a try.
While I initially liked Nextdoor, I discovered that they libel their users who civilly and articulately voice political policy questions or opinions on topics affecting the neighborhood, by labeling them as discriminatory, which insinuates that the poster is racist or against a particular segment of the neighborhood population. They insist that people post particular topic discussions to certain groups, but have NO link in their menu for those topics or groups.
Worse, through these bans, thoughtful, empathetic, and compassionate people have their reputations damaged, which is evident in the real world by people recoiling when they discover the person was banned by Nextdoor. The recoiling people think that Nextdoor only bans repugnant or vulgar people or scammers. Not so. Nextdoor appears to target anyone who does not tow the Socialist Democratic platform or conflicts with the beliefs of a particular moderator. This is VERY anti-American.
Just because a poster uses a "key" word does not make a posting discriminatory. Moderators need to be able to read and understand concepts.
If they are going to limit freedom of speech, which they are allowed to do as a private site, they need to have direct links to where what they allow is to be posted, such as: Upcoming Events; Kittens, Dogs, Pets; Thefts and Thieves; Political Policies; and etc.
Nextdoor has the potential to lead the field in the community social environment, if they would simply allow freedom of speech. By giving people a place to express their feelings and opposition to ineffective or ludicrous policies, that would enable problem solving, which would lead to more peaceful can calm neighborhoods. But banning people and labeling them as racist or discriminatory when they aren't will eventually lead to a cascade of libel lawsuits against Nextdoor.
The Nextdoor app. Does not protect your privacy. They put me in harms way when we were a victim of a crime. We had a neighbor witness trespassing. There was theft of mail. When I shared with neighbors next door shut it down. Boycott this app. They are untrustworthy
If there was a zero star review….
Do not trust the Nextdoor app as they do not monitor for scammers, animal trafficking from illegal backyard breeders and act on false reports that lock out legitimate users. Their staffing is terrible and customer service incompetent. My account was locked from someone making a false report. Be careful what you post as there are people using this app to get into your personal information. Ring is a far superior place for finding out important neighborhood posts regarding criminal activity and lost pets. Nextdoor is a ridiculous excuse of an attempt at social media.
Nextdoor fails to take into account that not all neighbors are friendly and safe. I question what the true endgame of Nextdoor is, as they refuse to allow you to only use first names. Recently, I was stalked and harassed by neighbors who think it is okay to racially profile and put up questionable, second hand stories about an incident involving another person from another site and the "supposed" men of a certain ethnicity that did not do anything to her, she just "felt" suspicious. It wasn't until I filed a formal complaint to Nextdoor that they took the post down. The point being that they do not monitor the content that is put up and leave the site open for people to post whatever they want. The creators of this app seem oblivious to the fact that we don't live in some utopian society where every single neighbor is as wholesome as The Andy Griffith Show and that we don't want to reveal our full identities to a possible crazed neighbor. There was a mob mentality forming on the particular post and the damage has already been done. They just open themselves up to lawsuits.
I recently joined Nextdoor, and they are just as bad now as they were then! One guy was creepy. In fact - I had a nightmare about him. He kept posting "off the wall" comments to me. He even posted that he wanted to be my naked plumber. Nextdoor had no problem with that, even though this creep was on the verge of "stalking" me. Then, as if that wasn't bad enough, two guys made a rude comment to me. I responded with a rebuttal, and Nextdoor accused me of making an offensive post. In fact - they claimed I was "shaming" the offender. Really? Then how come it's OK for them to "belittle" me? Apparently - the males run amok on this site and say whatever they want! This is typical liberalism right there! The women are scrutinized, while the males are excused. I had a liberal boss (female) who did the same thing! I read online that Nextdoor is "racist." They need to add "sexist" to it too!
A while back, a woman posted about a neighbor harassing her. He called the cops because she parked her car near her children's bus stop. She did this because she wanted the children to be safe. This really made me emotional because of an incident that happened to me years ago. I was in grade school and 3 mornings in a row, there was a strange guy standing near our bus stop. I remember us kids just stuck together and didn't say anything. In fact, I remember telling my Mom about all this. I didn't realize (until years later) how much danger we were in. Maybe it was because we quietly stuck together or maybe one of the neighbors were watching. Thankfully, nothing happened! So I posted this and applauded this woman for watching out for the kids. At first, I got unconditonal support, from a lot of people! Including a cop from the police department! Another woman was even sweet enough to feel bad about what I went through. For a while, all was well. Then all of a sudden, out of the blue, I get their Gestapo letter. They said I'm being invesigated for my post. They claimed it could be offensive! What? Why? I SAID NOTHING WRONG! I was SO MAD, I BLEW UP! I got online and wrote a scathing post back! I told them (though bleeped out) what they can do with their bogus site! They wrote back and said I was being hurtful and this post too is being investigated! This is a lot of nerve coming from people who attacked me first! I dealt with Gestapo investigations from a prior job and I'll be d(bleep) if I will deal with it from their stupid site! It didn't take me long to cancel and get out! So these idiots can investigate all they want because I no longer belong. I'm also entitled to FREE SPEECH! And speaking of which, I told them I will give them negative reviews every chance I get! In fact, I hope they go under!
The Nextdoor review team consists of people who also post on Nextdoor. They wield their "authority" like weapons against anyone who disagrees with their views or ideology. Given that the ones who have the time to spend skulking through posts all day tend to be retired seniors, in general, their views are outdated and obsolete. It's easy to see why the membership base of this app is attrition and the stick value tanking.
I have been a member of Nextdoor for years and noticed numerous women, senior citizens, and many others become victimized by an individual known as Daniel Turnball in Henderson,NV. Nextdoor continues to allow this convicted thief to operate on Nextdoor. The Leads and moderators are useless. Can't wait until this site is shut down. To many people are being victimized.
I would post questions like... Who is watching the Super bowl or Who is watching the State of the Union and most of my post were censored for not being respectful? A few days ago, i decided not to deal with any social media platform that Censors me. So, I'm off, Facebook, Youtube, and Nextdoor. We can not support censorship in any way. I'm only on Twitter which allows Free Speech and Open Knowledge.
In, Canada, they are seriously criminalizing Free Speech. If you use hate speech or misinformation online... you can get life in prison? Yesterday, Walmart in Lou, Ky is Cashless. NO CASH! Now, poor people go to Walmart... they don't have credit cards or bank accounts? The great global purge is here.
Most contacts that comes across if consecutive, will be taken down. Their moderation does little good. I have seen six to one to keep a comment or post up and nextdoor still take it down. One good way of getting kick off, just support Trump. In fact the name national politics from the main feed just because of it. It is ok to mention BLM but don't mention any white groups. If you do, plan on getting banned fo thirty days.
What a pathetic platform. This platform targets conservatives and believes that their ideology is the only and "right" ideology. They spread disinformation. Perfect example. "In light of the violent insurrection in Washington D.C". This is on their platform. PATHETIC
Nextdoor app lets white people post about anything but if I posted something they always had a problem for example I am a caregiver once I posted about me providing care for the elderly and they deleted my ad but someone else a white lady was posting about her job and how she can provide services for a small fee and her ad was not deleted I also heard this from other minorities groups just stating the truth.
Site contains too many complainers. It should be called NextDOG since it's like a show and tell for dogs.
MericansNextdoor allows people to bash other people of race and ethnic backgrounds. They love when people stir the pot. Nextdoor used to be about neighbors, now all people do is complain about everyone who's lives they don't agree with. They are the worst company on the planet. Beware they are racist against minorities!
Don't write the truth about what a large real estate company did to you or the post will get removed. They don't have any you know what to let users post bad things and corporations with a lot of power. I have had better luck posting the truth on facebook. They don't seem to be afraid of posting corruption between corporations and the local government.
The moderation on Nextdoor is not objective. There are groups of neighbors that appear to band together and report individuals that go against their political beliefs. Unfortunately moderators are not rotated and band right along with the groups as long as their politics are similar. If you post about a political candidate with actual facts, some bozo starts reporting everything you post as disrespectful. The supervisors often don't return emails when you request a higher level review. Nextdoor also doesn't seem to be removing data from people who have left the platform. This makes me wonder if they are trying to inflate their numbers of people who are on Nextdoor. Someone needs to use an external auditor to shed some light on this potential issue because advertisers who pay for ads might be getting less than what they are told. Nextdoor already had to go through layoffs and I am not seeing any changes occurring.
Fix your moderation Nextdoor. It's broken and your space isnt welcoming for everyone. It's become a cesspool of ill informed political zealots who want to control the narrative and you are allowing that to occur. You can do better.
I posted about a cat I moved off the road that had been killed by a car. They deleted it but the owner saw my message before it was deleted and got to bury her beloved animal. I deleted my account after that. What asininos!
My experience of NextDoor is that there is an enormous amount of misinformation, some outright lies.
Answer: The negative reviews are honest reactions to being duped into sharing too much personal information (that Nextdoor now owns and will NEVER delete and will continue to sell to advertisers until your dying day) to join a site that seems friendly on the surface, but which does NOTHING to protect users. I was bullied by a convicted murderer, who is a Lead in my neighborhood--and I was banned from the site for complaining. Leads are nothing more than early adopters of the site who have been assigned power over other users so that Nextdoor does not have to police it's own site. In short: No. The negative reviews are not wrong. Heed them! I wish I had known before it was too late!
Answer: Forget about nextdoor and leads. Get a life, a real one. Don't waste your time with toxic online communities that tend to get the worst out of people. My advise is run away while you still have some dignity left.
Answer: Kay is right. That is their policy. However, don't expect them to hold to it. We have leads unfairly removing only some people's comments and Nextdoor does nothing about it. Best bet, dump nextdoor.
Answer: Neighborhood. Rocks is in development. Another 6 months.
Answer: Truth is like oil and water. As long as the scam artist have enough venture capital (other people's money) they will continue to shake the bottle leaving it a murky view obscuring the truth. Run out of cash, they'll be exposed for the incompetent boobs they are and the top dogs will clear out their bank accounts and move on to the next scam. One look at their "leading edge tech" pulled right out of the 1980's is proof enough they will die in the tar pits just like the fellow dinosaurs. Want a state of the art app? Answer: Dallas, SiteJabber rates it at 16%. It would surely rate lower if there weren't so many fake positive reviews. Folks review Nextdoor either 1 or 5. The fives read like ads about Nextdoor's features and potential. The ones are written by real people and give accounts of how awful their experiences were.
Answer: Several other reviewers on this site have had the same thing happen to them. We have been fully banned from nextdoor (beyond just "suspension"), but they keep our profiles, and sometimes our names still appear in the neighbor registry. They refuse to remove us fully, I suppose, in an attempt to misrepresent our endorsement and participation there. It's clearly unethical, but their TOS states that they can do this, as any nd apologist will point out.
Answer: Here's a tidy answer from corporate... Hi Colleen, Thanks for getting back to me. Our Community Guidelines prohibit posting about Lead activity on the main newsfeed. If your Leads are inactivate and youre concerned about moderation in your neighborhood, you should reach out directly to Nextdoor Support. If you have any specific concerns I can help you with at this time, please let me know. Best, Amanda Nextdoor However, the minute you alert corporate to issues with leads in your community you'll find your account terminated. They are very protective of the information surrounding who really is controlling the activities on the boards. Most people in my community are under the misguided impression that corporate is in control. They don't even consider it is their neighbor who sits in judgement.
Answer: Nextdoor wants your full legal name, house number and address and your email address that they link all together. As an added bonus... They have a little map that you can click on. That way if, OMG, you offend someone the little map leads them straight to your house. Run, do not walk, away from this site. No good comes from Nextdoor.
Answer: Your name and address will be known to everyone who uses the NextDoor application and website. I don't suggest using it. I recently discovered that low income apartments in ghetto areas might be able to use the application to do crime. Car theft, asaaults, kidnapping and just about everything else under the sun.
