From looking for others lost animals, to tracking suspicious persons or activity, this website gives us all the ability to interact with neighbors in our own neighborhood and those close by. You can also recommend companies that do things like lawn work or tree trimming, to window cleaning and maid services
I love this app. Not only is current news available, many lost dogs and cats have been found by the community. This app is also wonderful to ask for help or volunteer to help someone else. Neighbors are so helpful in recommending business services.
I find Nextdoor to be a very good method to stay in contact with neighbors. In our neighborhood we had an entrance sign that was unreadable, and not a good start to any entering the neighborhood. I posted a question regarding this, and it generated several responses. I saw that people were interested in doing something about it, and we held a meeting to discuss it. One thing led to another and the result was that we started a project to improve the sign, including raising funds for it. After several months we had a first class attractive sign that enhanced the neighborhood. Before and after pictures are posted below. This is just one example of communication. More and more have joined the online site. We use it to post notices of yard sales, warnings of criminal activity, etc. The one thing I dislike is that commercial entities post on it. Aside from this, it has proven to be very useful to us.
I am super happy with Next Door. I have started a community garden and crafting group through the site. I love that it helps my neighbors stay informed and get to know each other.
Great help also for pets in need.
Next door is my go to source for recommendations, warnings, and information. I love how news travels through this app. Everything from coyote spotting to fundraisers to suggestions on plumbers are all right here.
To many political discussions which always turn into a huge argument not a debate. The topics should not include politics as we all
Know it is a set up for disaster.
People are rude, hateful, judgemental
And plain mean.
I only look at the stuff for sale now.
I can no longer engage with Thea conversation. Nextdoor used to be fun.
Overall I like the website, but the speech control is out of control!. Also, the ADs are super annoying. I rarely go on Nextdoor anymore.
It's mostly like Facebook, but with more of your immediate neighbors involved. If you want to find out the worst in people that you can put faces to, this waste of time is for you. Hateful, spiteful, petty, self-involved grievances are constantly aired. If you do make the mistake of getting involved, they'll gang up on you and get your account suspended. Really, just go sort your sock drawer and don't waste you time here.
ND is just another radical liberal San Fran run company. They have gotten full of themselves with censorship, biased moderators and leads. They are more concerned with generating revenue from their never ending nauseating ads and have obviously forgotten their core values and mission statement. They release platform "enhancements" that make the user experience worse than what they already were.
Nextdoor is a toxic wasteland of bigotry, conspiracies, misinformation, hate and lies run by a support staff that doesn't care or help. Extremely biased Leads and Review Team Members are allowed to target and bully individuals by reporting and voting to remove the most polite, factual, and innocent of comments even though they met all guidelines and local subject matter. The irony of Nextdoor is that while the platform was designed to help people be more connected to their communities and meet their neighbors, it acts to create a constant state of paranoia and alienate users from themselves and each other. I was constantly targeted and now indefinitely suspended for giving the most benign trivial comments as exampled below on my local neighborhoods gun violence. I was deleted for stating space aliens probably look nothing like humans. Nextdoor support staff are completely incompetent so save your sanity and avoid this horrendous app.
If the Nextdoor moderators don't agree with what you say, it's deleted and you are put in Nextdoor. It is okay for certain people, left-leaning people, to make rude remarks and make fun of those they don't agree with no repercussions! I will never use this app again!
I was just booted off Next Door, for daring to mention the holy grail of the medical community - vaccines. I was reviewing a veterinary hospital in Fayetteville NY, that kicked me out of their practice for declining their medications for my dog. The 'doctor' very rudely asked 'SO WHAT DID YOU COME HERE FOR?" I answered quietly - 'An exam'. What's wrong with going to a vet, for their professional exams, their worm tests and blood tests, (all of which are expensive enough) but declining their useless - sometimes dangerous - medications? (I know 4 dogs and 1 cat that DIED from Bravecto -A drug promoted by this animal 'hospital'). They took my money for the exam, but when she figured out that I was not there to buy their drugs, the 'doctor' STORMED out of the exam room, and never did an actual exam. (Later when I requested a refund for the exam that never happened, I was refused - demonstrating once again what Fayetteville Animal Hospital actually cares about, and it isn't your pet)
SO I did the neighborly thing, and posted a review on NEXT DOOR, which was 'REMOVED' for 'illegal information'. (Adults are not allowed to weigh all the data you know; we're incapable in this new tyranny that used to be the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave).
After I posted a copy of the 'removal', I was summarily suspended from NEXT DOOR - your local commie outfit that permits only cute puppy pictures, for sale items, and cat adoptions. But nothing of 'gravitas'. So here it is! My negative review of both Fayetteville Animal Hospital, AND Next door AND YELP! The pay for good reviews fake review platform that if you give them the $$$ will hide negative reviews under a cloud called 'Not recommended'. (Which when I visited that page, I discovered OTHER disillusioned former patrons of Fayetteville Animal Hosptial, one gal who actually referred to the doctor 'Kevorkian'..
It appears Nextdoor is run by Right-Wing conspiracy theorists. Many of ND guidelines are violated by their own Moderators and Team Leads. They post right-wing articles and attack anyone who disagrees with their views. Neighbors, who have reported them, usually end up being suspended. Yet, a neighbor who posted pictures of flowers and their dog had all of their posts removed LOL. Team leads often have duplicate accounts and, even tho those accounts are reported, ND allows them continue.
Next door is very restrictive in the conduct and comments allowed. Relative to visiting an HOA and learning to exit stage right. Statements and comments are misinterpreted to their way of thinking.
Next Door users take advantage of comments they choose to be offensive when they're not.
If there was a zero star review….
Do not trust the Nextdoor app as they do not monitor for scammers, animal trafficking from illegal backyard breeders and act on false reports that lock out legitimate users. Their staffing is terrible and customer service incompetent. My account was locked from someone making a false report. Be careful what you post as there are people using this app to get into your personal information. Ring is a far superior place for finding out important neighborhood posts regarding criminal activity and lost pets. Nextdoor is a ridiculous excuse of an attempt at social media.
Nextdoor fails to take into account that not all neighbors are friendly and safe. I question what the true endgame of Nextdoor is, as they refuse to allow you to only use first names. Recently, I was stalked and harassed by neighbors who think it is okay to racially profile and put up questionable, second hand stories about an incident involving another person from another site and the "supposed" men of a certain ethnicity that did not do anything to her, she just "felt" suspicious. It wasn't until I filed a formal complaint to Nextdoor that they took the post down. The point being that they do not monitor the content that is put up and leave the site open for people to post whatever they want. The creators of this app seem oblivious to the fact that we don't live in some utopian society where every single neighbor is as wholesome as The Andy Griffith Show and that we don't want to reveal our full identities to a possible crazed neighbor. There was a mob mentality forming on the particular post and the damage has already been done. They just open themselves up to lawsuits.
Most contacts that comes across if consecutive, will be taken down. Their moderation does little good. I have seen six to one to keep a comment or post up and nextdoor still take it down. One good way of getting kick off, just support Trump. In fact the name national politics from the main feed just because of it. It is ok to mention BLM but don't mention any white groups. If you do, plan on getting banned fo thirty days.
For a site that requires people to prove their identity through state issued ID's or utility bills you'd think they would be more professional. Look at the way they responded to my verification request.
This platform is a good idea, but the way it's run stinks. I was kicked off because a rogue Lead & his buds shuts down political opposition by making mass email complaints. ND's robotic response is to kick out anyone complained about.
My account was recently suspended when some local bigots decided to report me for using a nickname after I started pointing out their bigotry on multiple posts. I submitted the requested identification and the customer support has simply just been ignoring me, I opened up another account which was immediately unreachable after the beginning stages if setting it up. After reading a couple more of these negative experiences, I'm inclined to believe the site itself is being run and moderated by bigots as well.
Too bad Next Door is BIAS against conservatives.
When you silence what you dont agree with you manipulative others to hear and/or debate.
Next Door agenda is plain and simple "their political view or the highway."
Maybe the average middle class, hard working legal citizens will be able to get their information and other truths out through other avenues.
I think many will remember who allowed them to disclose information and who silenced them.
Amazing ND does not silence groups who burned and looted cities for one year but you talk about a President that cannot complete a sentence and you are shut down.
Fairness to hear 80 million citizens is not found on ND!
ND contributes to the division by silencing what they do not agree with.
How long will the silence go on?
Answer: The negative reviews are honest reactions to being duped into sharing too much personal information (that Nextdoor now owns and will NEVER delete and will continue to sell to advertisers until your dying day) to join a site that seems friendly on the surface, but which does NOTHING to protect users. I was bullied by a convicted murderer, who is a Lead in my neighborhood--and I was banned from the site for complaining. Leads are nothing more than early adopters of the site who have been assigned power over other users so that Nextdoor does not have to police it's own site. In short: No. The negative reviews are not wrong. Heed them! I wish I had known before it was too late!
Answer: Forget about nextdoor and leads. Get a life, a real one. Don't waste your time with toxic online communities that tend to get the worst out of people. My advise is run away while you still have some dignity left.
Answer: Kay is right. That is their policy. However, don't expect them to hold to it. We have leads unfairly removing only some people's comments and Nextdoor does nothing about it. Best bet, dump nextdoor.
Answer: Neighborhood. Rocks is in development. Another 6 months.
Answer: Truth is like oil and water. As long as the scam artist have enough venture capital (other people's money) they will continue to shake the bottle leaving it a murky view obscuring the truth. Run out of cash, they'll be exposed for the incompetent boobs they are and the top dogs will clear out their bank accounts and move on to the next scam. One look at their "leading edge tech" pulled right out of the 1980's is proof enough they will die in the tar pits just like the fellow dinosaurs. Want a state of the art app? Answer: Dallas, SiteJabber rates it at 16%. It would surely rate lower if there weren't so many fake positive reviews. Folks review Nextdoor either 1 or 5. The fives read like ads about Nextdoor's features and potential. The ones are written by real people and give accounts of how awful their experiences were.
Answer: Several other reviewers on this site have had the same thing happen to them. We have been fully banned from nextdoor (beyond just "suspension"), but they keep our profiles, and sometimes our names still appear in the neighbor registry. They refuse to remove us fully, I suppose, in an attempt to misrepresent our endorsement and participation there. It's clearly unethical, but their TOS states that they can do this, as any nd apologist will point out.
Answer: Here's a tidy answer from corporate... Hi Colleen, Thanks for getting back to me. Our Community Guidelines prohibit posting about Lead activity on the main newsfeed. If your Leads are inactivate and youre concerned about moderation in your neighborhood, you should reach out directly to Nextdoor Support. If you have any specific concerns I can help you with at this time, please let me know. Best, Amanda Nextdoor However, the minute you alert corporate to issues with leads in your community you'll find your account terminated. They are very protective of the information surrounding who really is controlling the activities on the boards. Most people in my community are under the misguided impression that corporate is in control. They don't even consider it is their neighbor who sits in judgement.
Answer: Nextdoor wants your full legal name, house number and address and your email address that they link all together. As an added bonus... They have a little map that you can click on. That way if, OMG, you offend someone the little map leads them straight to your house. Run, do not walk, away from this site. No good comes from Nextdoor.
Answer: Your name and address will be known to everyone who uses the NextDoor application and website. I don't suggest using it. I recently discovered that low income apartments in ghetto areas might be able to use the application to do crime. Car theft, asaaults, kidnapping and just about everything else under the sun.
Nextdoor has a rating of 2 stars from 3,044 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Nextdoor most frequently mention social media, real name and free speech. Nextdoor ranks 508th among Social Network sites.
