Good for general information about lost dogs, gardening and searches for repair and services. Weak on discussions about local governance such as school districts, municipalities, special taxing jurisdictions, and HOAs.

Like Nextdoor
July 3, 2019

I don't read all the notifications I get from Nextdoor, and I seldom have posted anything myself, but I do like to read and interact with interesting posts. I like best the ones from my own neighborhood but also like that it includes other neighborhoods -- and the people I've actually dealt with [handyman, seller, etc.] have all been from other but nearby neighborhoods.

Nextdoor neighborhood app was full of drama. Same profiles internet trolls posting needless comments. The posts were uninformative with posters not including enough details or failing to follow up. Basically a time waster. Stay away

Generally great. Only bad with political soap boxing or busy bodies. You guys are doing better on the former. Perfect site for reporting crime, finding pets and learning about good vendors. An invaluable service,

Housewife Experts
April 21, 2021

After giving great advice for animal and rodent control, here comes housewives who have never farmed or know the business end of a shovel with their untrained/unproven pro tips. I will not go back to this novice forum again.

Nextdoor-WPB is the main sewer in Florida. They must have a contract to support the QAnon nuts. Private thread setup, then invaded by Repubs. Now everyone has been deleted. The worst site ever. So many have left because of harassment and moderators join in. Do not use this site unless you enjoy being bullied.

Don't join!
February 9, 2017

Streetlife breached the Data Protection Act by passing our personal details to Nextdoor without our permission. They rounded us up, got us verified and sold us. There are many reasons why you should not reveal your name and address on a forum: scams, nuisance phone calls, stalkers, irate posters etc. "I'm on holiday next week - please burgle me". All burglars have neighbours! I once had a mental Streetlifer send me threatening messages; you wouldn't want someone like that to know where you live.

NDPV
May 23, 2019

I have been a Lead now for almost six years and for the most part my experience has been good. Better indexing and search tools for the CG would be a big help. Things change and unless we read everything every day we have no idea what is current. A way for Leads to contact support like the old *******@nexteoor.com would be very helpful. We have almost 1500 members in NDPV and have had very few problems. I think all in all most of our members think ND is a help for the neighborhood.

Nextdoor app is a team of ppl who want to control the narrative but doesn't like when express your views. The ppl persuade the policy makers to ban or block ppl who are free thinkers, while they call you degrading names and taunt you. This app is full of crazy with covid-19 jab driven maniacs. Especially, in WELLINGTON, FL

Stay away
December 19, 2018

There are multiple reasons to stay away:
1) not really a neighborhood site. You get news about lost dogs from 30 or so miles away.
2) Lots of random posts about events with no info. Ex: "yardsale this weekend in the neighborhood. But since it covers a huge area, you have no idea where
3) Politics. A neighbor started posting these longwinded stories that were essentially political copy-pastas ending with numbers to donate and join the resistance. I reported it as spam and was immediately attacked by the "neighborhood lead". It seems they have a deal with the local DNC. It escalated until threats were made and I quit the site. Now I know how creepy my neighbors are, and they know where I live.

Wish I could leave less than 1 star. I will be happy to provide the emails back and forth, anyways nextdoor is horrible, they will flag/ban/suspend your account if you do not comply with their crap. Someone posted pictures of the maiming of small rabbits and squirrels, I told them its illegal to shoot ANY kind of weapon in the neighborhood. Now my accounts disabled.
Whishy washy admins and leads, total crap. This site has brought more drama in the last 6 months than I've experienced in the other 21.5years of living here.

Negative Posts!
November 5, 2016

I signed up for Nextdoor at the invite of a neighbor just recently. I posted 1, that's it, 1 post and received so much negativity about a measure that would prevent endangered animal parts from being sold in our state. I guess Oregon is still full of rednecks, even with all the Californians pouring in! Good grief! Just getting word out about something soooo many people have heard nothing about. That'll teach me! I deactivated my account today. Not worth the headaches from juvenile adults! Cyberbullying is alive and well in the Portland metro area.

I am a solar business who pays for advertising on the site. On the personal side I offered discussions on climate change. I was accused by some that I was promoting my business on the personal web site. I seem to have been kicked off the site for talking about this serious issue. I am entitled to bring up subjects even though I have a parallel business account. I received a congressional award for my 40 years of work on sustainability issues and have knowledge to share. I was actually been pejoratively called a self serving capitalist. Never given the chance to defend myself and some plutocrat on the board of this misguided organization decided to suspend my account. I am withdrawing my advertising account.

Write your review to help others learn about this online business's he concept of this site is s good one. My problem is though I have addressed issues undef the correct category, I am catching out HOA BOD either not answering a question or a few have turned out to be incorrect answers. My Lead is married to a BOD and guess what? I just was suspended. I posted several messsged, even asking the lead for advice on the wording, ended up deleting it and still was suspended. Discrimination. Fyi there are many attorneys that specialize in HOA's gone wild. It's a big business. Waiting on a reply from Nextdoor. So at this time I'm not sure they are to blame at all.

After using the service for a couple months I began receiving alerts that people had accepted my invitation to join Nextdoor and offering me opportunities to send more invitations. I'd never given any authorzation to use my name in their marketing efforts. Sounds like they sent some thousands of messages using my name and street without my authorization. Or perhaps they setup their app that some single accidental clik authorized this without my knowledge. There is no way to contact them so I posted a message to the group referencing what they did. My message was quickly deleted & I haven't received any response. It's a slimy business model that shouldn't be supported.

Not long after I joined Nextdoor I was inundated with junk emails and those nasty, threatening voice mails and telemarketing and I am on the do not call list and my number is not listed. And when i posted a simple community policy question for condo homeowners on how to dispose of hazardous to the board is was deleted and I believe that a lot of the posts may not be fully truthful. As soon as I canceled the service the voice messages and telemarketing calls stopped. I have to reset my PC to get rid of the download that is required and now my PC runs great. Plus they post your address on their website. I think it is more to deceive people to join then misuse their personal information to spy and censor what is posted or asked. I would question providing or allowing access to all your personal information.

The policing of content is awful. I go on the app or went on the app I should say to see if there are any lost dogs, to see pictures of snow and wildlife in our backyards, And to read of any wonderful announcements. However I came across political content particularly an activist group trying to recruit in our neighborhood. I am not going to say if it was left or right the fact is it should not be allowed no matter what the content is. Our neighborhoods are polarized enough and with the last election we have seen deterioration of relationships between neighbors in my community. Next-door has become another app that allows toxic polarizing content on its site. It should ban any political content and dangerous disinformation.

During a discussion on the safety of covid shots, one of my ignorant neighbors told me I should get a tattoo so everyone knows I'm unvaxxed. I'm Jewish. This was extremely offensive to me, the other commentors joined in telling me to basically shove it and I was a menance to society. In case people didn't study history, that's what they did to jews (that my ancestors fled Hungary to get away from) before shipping them off to camps. My account was banned after I reported many comments for being a "conspiracy theorist". Glad to see the stasi has arrived in the states and these tech companies are perpetuating and giving them a platform for their hate.!
