MyHeritage is the easiest family tree builder to use. It is the best one out of a number of sites that I have tried. The MyHeritage team are constantly working to make it easier to research your family history.
Brilliant!
MyHeritage is the easiest program to use on the internet. I have tried others and, while they are good, they aren't as easy to use. Having the Family Tree Builder to use and synchronize my online tree is also very useful.
I am discovering new family members, bridging gaps within our knowledge and exploring and gathering our historical family tree and all sorts of references we can now keep for all our family into the future!
The DNA results were on interesting, but the constant trying to sell upgrades gets rather irritating
I do a lot of research on the Jewish heritage of the Green family! And I get noticed as a potential robot! I think I understand but maybe unnecessary! Also I am retired and on a fixed budget, I can't afford to upgrade all the time!
I haven't received my results yet but I am confident that heritage.com will assist me to recover more of my Jewish ancestry! I've heard that you're the best! I need more details through my DNA and know you can help!
Shalom! Dennis
I still use Ancestry.co.uk as my primary website. HOWEVER, I continue to use MyHeritage as my permanently accessible genealogical website. Have found out that my maiden name was misused even when the older Ancestry IGI's were used, and I am slightly crestfallen. I have yet to find such discrepancies within MyHeritage. Additionally, the government Censuses are absolutely free on MyHeritage, whereas nothing can be found out except with an extended subscription from Ancestry. Lastly, MyHeritage continues to find ways to extend membership benefits, and the attitude of 'continual improvement' always attracts me back to MyHeritage.
Fascinating information! So helpful and easy to use! I love finding out more about my family history.
I was offered a very good deal to renew my membership and took up the offer. I have been very happy with the MyHeritage site for many years and due to personal circumstances, I was unable to renew my membership when it was due. I am very happy I can continue my research.
I have been able to expand my Tree since completing a DNA Test and contacting family I did not know existed. I received a lot of 'Hints' with the new additions, it is unfortunate that some people do not check their 'Discrepancies' and correct them as I came across a mother and child being 200 years apart. So, you need to be careful when Confirming Matches.
The site works really well. A lot of records to search, hints to records and matching trees is very helpful. I really like the photo restoration and animated life story, really brings your history to life.
The Feedback is very helpful, but sometimes the information relates to another family member instead of the one indicated, so a manual check is essential. Having said that, I have found a number of family members who I didn
T know at all which is most interesting and as I said, very helpful.
I have been a member for a while now and have found My Heritage to be better than Ancestry or Find my Past.
When I started, back in the day, I knew of only three Grandparents, two Parents, two Uncles and two Aunts, and 8 cousins of various degrees, now my family tree has over 2,500 people in it going back over 600 years or more. I have found cousins in the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and even Poland.
I only had 13 relatives when I joined My Heritage, now I have over 2,500. I wasn't in touch with many branches of the family, now I am in touch with second cousins three times removed and third cousins twice removed. What can I say, speaks for itself!
I started my family tree on Ancestry.com. I would get a notice or discovery maybe 2 or 3 times a year. I ran across My Heritage and decided to check it out. Now I get updates and family finds a few times a week. So much better at finding family members. It's pretty easy to maneuver the site and your tree. Just explore the site and you can get the hang of it. Glad I have it.
I was focusing on my connection with a particular individual in medieval Scotland. Haven't found him yet, but I've gone back to an English direct ancestor born in 1502, and discovered I'm a descendant of the captain of the Mayflower! Also got a DNA surprise: I'm over 28% Scandinavian, probably from Shetland Islands. I was expecting mostly English and Scottish.
This service provide mobile, desktop and online service. Very good seach service on other family tree services. Excelent Photo editor with AI help.
This has taken me quiet a while to get my act together and chase my family history, I am now well on the way to tracing back my fanily tree and hopefully putting the last few pieces of the puzzle together.
I could not have achieved this result without all the connections that this site has provided.
Thanking eveyone concerned.
After being a member of a few other web sites, I found that this one was the easiest to maneuver. It has so many new features and I am about to upgrade again. My experience has been awe inspiring as I have been able to find my father's ancestors dating back to the 10th century. I have 25 generations of these ancestors and it's still growing thanks to this site. I would highly recommend it! It is the best!
Overall with MyHeritage I am very satisfied. And as a junior genealogist, I have much to learn, MyHeritage is the perfect program for me to help advance my skills one step at a time. MyHeritage keeps evolving and so do I.
I have been using MyHeritage for many years since I first initially started a tree in Geni and then switched over. I also use MyHeritage Family Tree Builder which syncs with the main website and they update each other when doing so, however just the main site and adding Discoveries it finds can add duplicates to the tree with similar but incomplete information depending on which source the Discovery is getting it's information from. If from other people's family trees that are not fact checked against official census, birth or death or marriage and immigration records you can add individuals that are already in your Family Tree Builder but are not recognized by the main website tree.
I now do all of my work in MyHeritage Family Tree Builder and when I get a notification from the main website double-check to see if some of the possible new people I could add are already in my tree. Discoveries have been useful to add new information and in many cases additional marriages of ancestors as when a spouse passed away it did not take many of them long to remarry and blended families were the result of his, her and our children which can then be checked against official records.
The other area that could be improved is a better way to contact people with incorrect family trees when receiving a DNA match Theory of Relativity. I have many cases of having a grandfather in someone else's tree actually being an uncle or cousin in my tree, so there may be a DNA connection but it's the wrong person. It would be nice when rejecting the connection in the other person's tree if an option could be given to easily contact the tree manager to explain the rejection and offer them the correct information resulting in more accurate Theories being offered.
There are many new innovations being offered which are cool but these tree building improvements would make it even better.
Since I have had eye surgery, I haven't had the chance to work on all the features. Hopefully, I will be able to and can give a good review.
Hesitantly, I answered the phone. Once the call was completed, though, I felt that I had both the newest tools to complete my task, as well as a good deal, financially. My conversation with the sales person was informative, and exceedingly low pressure.
I've been using MyHeritage for a number of years and found it to be invaluable for discovering my past family members. I have recently used the DNA facility which has been interesting and I am continuing to build my tree.
Answer: My issue was the automatic renewal without any kind of courtesy reminder prior to the effective date, as other businesses do. Advising one year in advance is a poor business practice. When I contacted them immediately on the renewal effective date, they refused to cancel and offered me a 25% discount. They eventually gave me the full refund but it was due to me turning it over to AMEX to resolve. I do however agree with the advice to base your renewal on your own personal experience.
Answer: You can find your site subscriptions via MyHeritage homepage - pull-down menu on the right upper corner button "Settings". Then click on "My purchases", and button "Site subscriptions". Click "View details". The details contain section "Cancel subscription". Maybe you can get advice by mail from MyHeritage support team (support@myheritage.com).
Answer: If you are looking to get as many connections to your tree that you can, use My Heritage. If you want flexibility in who is added to your tree, use Ancestry.
Answer: Dear Jonathan and fellow users, In regards to the FTB not working, I may have found a solution, please follow these directions. Please right click on the FTB icon on your desktop, and click on 'Properties': Once you have opened the 'Properties' menu then click on the 'Compatibility' tab: If the field "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" is checked, and it says below "Windows 7", uncheck the box.
