I'd never heard of Musician's Friend until I happened on their site while doing research for a Martin guitar I was thinking about buying. As it turned out, they had it on a special hot deal for $200 off the regular price. It was too good to pass up so I bought it. Then I started reading reviews that told how bad they are and I had a lot of second thoughts. As it turned out, I made the purchase late Tuesday evening, it shipped on Wednesday and I got a brand new Martin guitar in the factory box this afternoon. They couldn't have done better.
They ship with UPS which cannot make a firm delivery date. Got a ship confirmation from UPS with a delivery date and then the day before delivery I got another message saying they can't make the date with no updates for delivery. Been 4 days and still waiting. Musicians Friend was no help at all. Maybe my order will just show up one of these days. Recommend purchasing locally and not online unless you have lots of time to sit home and wait for your order
When trying to cancel a backordered item I've called four times and you can only speak to customer service in India. They can do absolutely nothing. Each time I was told that the item would be cancelled from the order and I would receive confirmation by the end of the day and I have never been notified. I've asked to be transferred to a customer service rep in the U.S. but they say they can't do that. They offer free shipping because they wait until they have a lot of items going to a particular area to ship which means you may wait weeks for your order. Just a miserable experience and I will never do business here again. BTW, everything they sell is available on Amazon for the same price or less.
I sent complain in and still have not heard anything back from after the person holler at me about a snare drum. The one I brought back. Didn't offer to see if the drum can fix all it needed was a small part. And the drum would have been fixed. He set there and arguing with me. I thought coustomer was always right but that's not true. If y'all read this I hope and someone calls me thanks have a nice thank you
The web site promise shipment date on 2/11/2011. But it never come. After calling customer service, they don't have any inventory for it until 2/28/2011. There is no notification of the order delay and the web site keep cheating on customers about the deliver date.
I've always had good experiences with Musician's Friend. I've been ordering guitars and accessories from them for over ten years and I have never had a problem with returns, quality of products or any type of bad service. I year or two I had ordered two different guitars on the same day from musiciansfriend.com and decided that I was going to send one back. I contacted them through their 800 number and they were very courteous and understanding of my situation. They had already shipped both guitars already and when I called they told me that they would stop the shipment of the guitar that I didn't want at it's next checkpoint and would refund my money at no charge. I've always had great service with Musician's Friend and frequently order from them and recommend them to other people looking for musical instruments.
I bought a Dean Flight guitar for my son for Christmas (2015), and the situation has been eating at me, so I feel others should be warned. The guitar comes with a gig bag. It comes with it on ALL websites I can buy it from. Musicians friend, however, decided to only send a guitar and keep my gig bag. So Christmas morning came, and my son opened the box and only received the guitar. I feel I was stolen from since they took my money, but didn't deliver the product. Look elsewhere to buy. I wish I'd have read reviews before shopping with them.
I ordered a VSL orchestral library from MF. Two days later I received used serial numbers. VSL support confirmed that the numbers were already registered to an MF account. In other words, someone at MF stole my serial numbers before sending them to me. I've spent a week trying to get valid serial numbers with no resolution in sight. I have turned the matter over to PayPal to try to get my money back. I will never do business with this company again.
Bought two brand new guitars and both had separate, bad issues. Customer service was a nightmare and I even had to spend about 20% of the original price returning the guitars. Long time customer lost.
I placed an order and paid in full. I have an email receipt showing payment and screen shot of my bank account showing they took my money. However, I never received my order and they made no attempt to send it. When I called to ask what was going on the customer service tried to extort more money out me saying I had to pay another $220.00 on top of the full price I already paid or else they wouldn't send me anything. Complete scammers
I stopped doing business with Musicians Friend several years ago because their customer service stinks, and when you order a new item, many times you will receive B-stock, open-box, or demo items sold as new. As a company they have absolutely no integrity. Because they were the only vendor that had an effects pedal I wanted, I decided to give them anther try. BIG MISTAKE! Not only was it poorly packed, but the factory box had been opened and the pedal was defective. I called and got an RA# and returned the pedal the same day I received it. Musicians Friend received the pedal on 8-3-20 and as of 8-11-20, no refund. I had to call my credit card company and dispute the charge. It has come to my attention that Musicians Friend and Guitar Center(owned by the same holding company)will have to file bankruptcy this year. I hope so, it would be excellent to see these rip-offs out of business.
I ordered a PRS DTG and it was out of stock I was told it would be around December so I canceled the order and was told it would come off my credit card account in a couple of days. It's been a month and it is still showing as pending. I called today and was told they would take it off right now if I made another purchase today. Stay away from this company. This was my first, and last order. I have been on the phone waiting to speak to a rep at least three times. They said that they first ship by UPS and then USPS takes over. I told them they have a rotten system and they will not be getting my business again. As of this writing, I still have not received my order. The USPS tracking site says that the package is not in their possession and this after placing my order one week ago. STAY AWAY.
Deliveries late and missed Christmas with my order by 3 days, then when I contacted them they were going to refund my purchase, but then sent me RMA instructions instead. Lies & terrible customer service is their company policy!
I stopped dealing with MF a long time ago, every time I would order a Guitar amp or distortion pedal, or fuzz pedal, they would send me used equipment that some poor little rich kid sent back to them. Because they had a 45 day exchange policy. I Got tired of receiving used junk. When I pay for new equipment I want NEW.
I have called and emailed them many times over the past few years, have NEVER -- never -- received a reply. Not once. That tells you everything you need to know. It's infuriating. Why bother? Why not remove the phone # and the email link?
I purchased an "open box" speaker with a lvl 3 rating, from what I understand that's pretty good. When I received the speaker one of the wheels were broken and when I hooked it up to play music, they speaker was bowls and crackling. I have an event this weekend I was depending on this speaker for and now I have to ship back this piece of junk and when they receive it I gotta wait 7-10 business days, and the gentleman I was dealing with was laughing while talking about the whole thing. I won't be returning.
Their site stated that they had my item in stock but a day after taking my payment I received a "template" email saying their count was off and that it was on backorder. I called their customer service and the support person was not very helpful or apathetic. He said the site said it was in stock because they had 1 in stock, but not two. Wrong. He said the one they had in stock was on its way to me, so the count should now be zero. I just went back to their site and started the order process and it say "In Stock". These guys are either full of crap or have the worst inventory control system. Don't trust them.

There is misleading information on the Website!
When I opened the boxes of each product, I saw that it was not packaged properly, and all the original packaging plastic bags and protective materials were missing!
Some scratch on the products. TOO BAD!
My brother and I bought Schaller straplocks and the nut keeps working it's way loose. One of my brothers. Guitar hit the floor, I came close twice and that's enough for me. Going back to Dunlop where I should have stayed. Just writing this so this doesn't happen to you. I do like Schaller products, just not this one, needs improvements.
