I have been selling on here for over a year, and they are horrible, when you sell something and something happens during shipping like gets crushed at the Ups and i had another Barbie that got legs and walked off the cost for both Barbies were 350.00 and they would not pay me but we pay for protection fees lol they told me i dont pack right but have had 215 sales and many repeat buyers, and good ratings so thats a lie they dont have a phone number and send the same reply which is bad the problem is solved lol nothing gets done. I even had UPS to check my box before i send them and they said they were fine. Even write FRAGILE all over the box. They rip the srllers off like they do the buyers shame on yall.
Mecari is ok if you don't want customer service that can help you. They refuse to do anything to help you with any issues. If there is a problem it is yours to fix not theirs even though there may be no other way to fix it but have them do so. I was liking it but poor customer service is where I draw the line. I don't expect that from sellers and I don't give that to my buyers. I will continue to use all other platforms except for Mecari.
Few things happened. I sold an item that first of all, the buyer received it and did not rate me as a seller, which is stupid because the buyer needs to rate you as great or poor seller before you get paid. So after waiting and waiting to be paid, or be reviewed, they buyer requested a refund. Great! Ship my stuff back and you can have your money screw this site. What a dumb rule after being rated get paid. Anyhow, there is no way to accept the return. Its been requested and I cannot approve it. I want to badly, get my stuff back because I paid for it to! Then all of a sudden I ghet a message saying its been cancelled.? So what now theres no way to get my money back? They can buy from you, not review you as a seller and request a return or a cancel? Well guess im out money and that buyer scammed me. Bull$#*! site. Should have just stuck with EBAY
I bought an item that arrived in a condition I did not expect. I simply wanted to return the item. Mercari refused to accept the return stating they felt the item fit the description. I disagree. I don't think it is unreasonable for me to say o would not have bought the item had I know it were in this condition. If I return the item, how does that hurt the seller? I don't understand their ethical stance or their plan to compete in this market. Reading other reviews it seems they have earned their low standing.
I have placed like 5 orders on this app and none of the orders get shipped. Sellers just waste your time, energy and money, this app has no backup for customers except for wasting their time, I have even trying to place orders since a month and no order gers past the shipping process 0 star app review and service.

I purchased a brooch back in December 2021. The brooch was lovely and I really appreciated the purchase. So I leave an awesome review and the seller gives me 3 stars! What the@#$%?! And then the seller blocks me like a coward... and this is how you get treated on Mercari... lovely.
I purchased a Pinkie plush (from Pinkie and the Brain). I got a confirmation of purchase and paid for my item. 13 days later, I am wondering why my item never came. I get on to track my shipping and see that my purchase was cancelled because "the item is being held for someone else". I was never emailed, texted or notified in any way and it is right before Christmas. This site is trash and I am never using them again.
I sold a item on mercari and was provided with a shipping label. Once i shipped the I was told by the buyer that the product arrived damaged and missing. Instead of mercari honoring their worries free shipping, i was stuck without the product and money. Never will I do business here again.
Just recently, I bought myself a very expensive item worth $350. Accidentally it was shipped to the wrong address but no worries, I picked it up a week later, but the seller insisted on an early rating which was suspicious. I refused it but mercari put it through anyways. When I opened the package, it was empty. I called the seller out on the fraud in which she says that I scammed HER (the usual jerk act). I filed a claim with mercari, and after a long process of me running back and forth to the post office, getting all the information they needed and explaining, taking pictures and praying, mercari decides to release funds to the seller before the claim was even finished! Do NOT trust this company. Your money is in their hands and it's nearly gaurnteed you won't get it back. $350 lost to an inconsiderate scammer. Run before you get trapped in their stupid game.
I ordered a phone battery. Shortly after receiving, i discovered that changing it was very involved. I was told I couldn't change it myself by someone who works for Assurion.it was way too complicated. I ask mercari if I could send it back, but they told me I was beyond my return window. They only allow 3 days for returns.
After paying for my purchase, the seller cancelled, saying they couldn't ship within the time frame required by Mercari. Seller agreed I could re-buy once they were back in town. Seller then waited a period of time and relisted the item for higher price. When I message about this, seller said they're selling it for someone else and they wanted more for the item. Then she blocked me.

I brought a Nintendo Wii and it works okay but the USB ports are damaged and don't work. This wasn't listed on or shown before I purchase the wii. I messaged the seller he never got back to me. Reach out to customer service they said it's a three day return policy which is the craziest thing I ever heard there should be a least 30 days. Customer service was so rude to me and blew me off saying it was my problem basically. I work in customer service this is not how you treat a customer at all. This whole situation is a scam. I will never order from this website again and I recommend no one buy anything from this site horrible service probably the worst service I ever had. I recommend and other website do not use this website at all.
Not impressed with all the seller scams. Lots of Target items with drastic markups and huge shipping fees! For example: I bought a $5 pillow at target and wanted to get another for a friend. Mercati was top 3 hits in google search with lowest price at $15 + $11.95 shipping for exact same pillow (even noted in ad as Target brand) utterly ridiculous and a total ripoff!
They don't follow there own rules. I shipped with there label following all the rules. Shipped with FedEx and FedEx said it was package safe. The item was broke in shipping which is insured and they didnt reimburse me. I'm going to fedex Thursday and seeing if they collected the insurance. This was antiques. Mercari has no protection at all for sellers, if you sell and item and the buyer claims they did not get what was described in the photo, Mercari will grant them a refund and as long as they use their shipping label they can literally send you an empty package, that is exactly what happened to me the buyer kept the item and sent me back an empty package. The buyer was given her refund and I was scammed. I contacted the postal service and they confirmed the package had no contents and I sent mercari the proof and they responded back me to after 3 days saying its too late buyer was already refunded. It is a horrible horrible company! I took all my items off the site as I will not allow myself to ever get scammed again. Shame on Mercari!
I listed a couple of items and then they closed my account and asking to provide receipt of all the item i listed. Seriously? Most listed items are from my closet and bought some of it long time ago. Waste of my time. Support service are rude people. Never again.
Seller sent item that reeked of cigarette smoke. Odor isnt a "valid" reason to return and since return was requested can warn others either. Reviews with 5 and 4 stars were left mentioning the smoke. The buyers upset enough to leave appropriate ratings likely requested refunds! Buyers Beware!

Most all of the merchandise they sell is fake if you do not review the merchandise within 3 days of receiving it they automatically do it for you and then if the merchandise is not as described which my 2 experiences it was not you are stuck with it
If you do notify them before 3 days that the merchandise is fake they make it so hard for you to return it that most people would just say the hell with it.
They ask for so many pictures then after you send them they ask for more they just want to get you so discussed that you just say forget it
There other scam it when they ask you for information in a email a normal person would just hit reply and answer there fake questions the scam is under there email address it states reply to another email address big time scam so if you just reply to the email you received they will say you never did
They are also owned and operated by a company not in the USA be warned do not do business with them.
