Maxsold needs to tell the sellers to list at a reserve price and introduce penalties for "lost" items - when I bid, im entering into a contract to buy that I can't back out of - yet sellers are allowed to lose $#*! and then I gotta fight and wait to get my money back - if a seller loses
An item- they should be paying me back 5x the price of what I paid for the lost item to cover travel time and time it takes to get my money back - and that should be legally binding - if maxsold holds the funds for the seller, they need to make this a part of whatever contract they have with the seller - because as the buyer, I'm ultimately the one maxsold is making their money from, as I'm the one that pays buyers premium and saves them the trouble of delivering items by going to pick them up
And as I said, stop using your employees to bid up items, make your sellers list at a reserve - I have proof of this too btw...
Treated decorated disabled handicapped buyer with rudeness disrespect and dishonor in front of other buyers! Loyal Helpers, Webster, NY, can not be trusted!
Disrespected disabled handicapped buyer at sale in Webster NY. Now facing ADA violations too! Told of issue with one of the numerous lots purchased. They flipped out on us and started yelling! They refused to give us our merchandise and stated "we don't do curbside, next time bring someone with you, I'm not selling to you, your not getting s**t, you can deal with MaxSold".
I won an auction on Maxsold for a porcelain vase and wood stand. I paid for it and made an appointment to collect it. The vase was described as Antique Japanese. I am an antique dealer specializing in Asian porcelain and stands. It was obvious from the Maxsold photos that the vase was fraudulently represented as antique (it was modern, and worth very little). The wood stand however was authentic, and worth $200-300. Ie, I won this lot for the valuable wood stand, NOT the fake Japanese vase. My pickup appointment was at 10am (the first available pick up time). I was first in line, and the first person picking up (I got there early, and the line formed behind me). The seller then told me they had given the stand to someone else by mistake (pretty hard when I was the first in line!). They then tried to pass me off with the fake vase. When that didn't work, they admitted they realized I probably won this lot for the stand (apparently they recognized my name). I got scammed on Maxsold. This scam is simple. A worthless and valuable item are listed together on Maxsold. If the auction lot sells for a lot of money, then you get both. If it goes for a low price, then you are offered the worthless part only. I left the worthless vase with the seller. This scam cost me an hour of my time driving back and forth, plus the time bidding on the item. Plus the time dealing with Maxsold to try and get my money back. The only reason Maxsold gets 1 star, is because there is no option for Zero.
Maxsold is unsafe. They share the exact location of estate sales, and everything available to steal. Within a day of our auction going live online, the house was robbed of every bit of silver. The same thing had happened at one of their other auctions a couple of weeks previous. They can't prevent robberies, but they could start by not providing street locations - and advising upcoming auctions when there has been a robbery (we would have removed all of the lots in that case - of note, the house had stood empty for 3+ months with family and a paid caretaker checking in every couple of days - the robbery happened as soon as the auction went online).
I can't begin to tell you how wonderful the Maxsold Team was to work with. After losing my husband to ALS and my mother within a year, to say I was an emotional wreck is an understatement. Unfortunately for them, I was a train wreck but they all were so compassionate and helped me threw the process of getting on with a new chapter of my life, with no excess material baggage. Thank you. Shawna, my team lead is the most understanding lady. She was my rock at a very different time. Her team was outstandingly professional. Please use MAXSOLD when you need these services! Kudos to you all.
As a seller, I was completely satisfied with MaxSold. They were efficient with their communication with me, arrived on time to photograph the items I was putting my home on the market and needed to clear all the contents. The online auction occurred on the dates we agreed and Pick Up was arranged and was efficiently conducted. Staff was courteous and experienced. Accounting was provided quickly and to my satisfaction. I would recommend MaxSold wholeheartedly. Thank you for a job well done.
I've been buying on maxsold for several months now. I am very unhappy and angry with their work. During this time they managed to lose 5 of my things! Not 1 or 2, but 5! This is very unpleasant and terrible. You come to pick it up and suddenly they have lost something. I spend time and money on gasoline. Of course, they return money for things, and they think that this is enough, but I don't think so... There should be some other compensation. I don't think that this is a good business, you can't treat your customers like That.
Conducted my own onsite sell. Read all the instructions, even if like myself you're aware of how to conduct live auctions successfully. Once you get the hang of completing the catalog, it's all pretty much good to go from there. Just remember to save each entry before proceeding to the next. Everything went pretty smooth during the customer pickup following the sale and afterwards, payment was prompt (much sooner than anticipated). Overall, the Maxsold support was fantastic, from start to finish. I'll be using their service as a repeat seller. Like any auction, remember the benjamins add up at the end of the day, so don't be too disappointed if some items don't go for high dollar.
Biggest benefit was having such a breath of fresh air when you look around and see how much space was created following the sale...one less storage unit to pay rent on. Enjoy 😊
We sold everything we own to move to Texas. This includes lots of furniture and paintings, collectibles and several other items. We made less than $600 on a household full of stuff - even a leather sleeper couch. The pictures were not done professionally and I believe we should have sold our stuff on our own and would have made more than 3 times of what we made through MaxSold. Unfortunately we did not have the time to sell on our own so I reached out to MaxSold. I would not recommend them at all.
I ran a seller managed auction. The service provided no help, and they were not clear about the fees they would charge on the back end. Most items sold for next to nothing, and also a third of the buyers didn't even show up to pick the items up. The whole experience was a waste of time and money.
1. Maxsold -Management doesn't think of seller/team reader with attitude towards, or due to non-experience with dealing with issues.
2. Whenever items are missing from the site or switched items with other auction winners.
They just try to make excuses by covering their faults.
Maxsold doesn't care for how we get there or with hope to get the winning items.
Obviously Seems like Maxsold thinks time spent to get there and gas is free, not mind disappointing.
I strongly recommend setting up manuals toward pick up processa and dealing with pick ups.
I met a lot of people complaining at the site for pick up.
Bid ended 1dollar doesn't mean the seller can remove items valuable more than 1 dollar.
Maxsold please care for the pick up process train employees.
Not only care for your commissions but you should train employees
MaxSold lurs you in with $1.00 bid increments, and entice you with a Max bid, but beware, the $1. Increments increase to $3, $5. $10 + quickly. They do not have this printed on their site so if you're not watching it, and you think the max bid will be $1. (it will increase quickly to more $, and you don't know about it until they have used it to get to your Max bid. So if you bid on MaxSold, keep an eye on the $ increases...for each bid. It used to be $1. Increments, but no more...
I've received purchased several items from multiple MaxSold auctions. Every time the items were already prepared for pickup, clearly marked (lot numbers and my name) and pickup went smoothly with no issues. Can't wait to see what treasures I find next!
Wow, thanks so much for the kind words, we are so happy you enjoy shopping on MaxSold!
Thank you!
I've had many experiences with Max Sold and not one has been negative.
My wife just purchased a brand new adult bicycle for a $$$ fraction of buying it from the store.
The staff are very helpful, friendly and polite.
I love thier auctions.

Wish I would have read these reviews before I sent them my bank account info, pictures of my family antiques and Any of my personal info…they just sent me a bill that I owe them! They lead you to believe you will get something and, at the last minute they turn the tables on who owes whom…should have listed in Facebook Marketplace or had a weekend yard sale…all nice and cheery to lure you in but, they help the bidders, Not the sellers, as Every one of these reviews has stated…they feel you owe them All…not a good or nice service to those trying to Share a Little profit…they're greedy…BE VERY AWARE!
I won an item and was charged at once. After that they have changed the pick-up location to 25 miles away. Maxsold.com sent me 2 emails reminding about pick-up and my responsibility for abandoning the lot. When I arrived to the pick-up location along with a hired truck I learned from Maxsold.com' subcontractors that my item is MIA and its owner decided to keep it. I wasted the day and $40 for a truck deposit. Maxsold.com has not refunded nor notified me until I contacted them. It took almost a week to reply: they offered me a refund and a worthless $20 gift card. They clearly do not respect own customers: 3 days between the auction's end and pick-up no one even raise a finger to warn me.
Purchased a couch with description of 10/10 like new, far from the description took 14 pictures of marks scratches down to the bare and none of these were in the pictures when considering buying. Complaint answer you buy as is, I could have made these marks didn't complain enough when pu. Was given 10% refund didn't cover truck rental as these were couches Very disappointed customer
Not happy with Maxsold. Bought the bike that had mechanical problems. Only found out about them when brought it home. Was refused in refund with excuse that I had to show the issues at pick up location. Was overcharged with premium fee. No way to choose the day convenient for me, only the day they tell you. So say goodbye to either your purchase or the plans for that day. I would not buy from Maxsold auction again.
It's disappointing that we provided this customer an unsatisfactory experience. Although requests made after pickup are considered on a case by case basis (as they are outside the agreed to terms and conditions of bidding noted below), we are committed to being fair to all our customers. Without more information and/or the completion of a refund form however, we cannot support this customer’s disappointment. They should reach out to support@maxsold.com to provide more clarity on their specific situation. That said, there appear to be 3 areas of concerns (Our refund process, 15% buyer’s premium, and fixed pickup date) - all of which are highlighted in our Auction Information and (agreed to) terms and conditions that are required reading prior to bidding. These are outlined as such to avoid disappointment for all potential buyers on Maxsold's platform. Anyone reading this can review them here: www.maxsold.com/terms
Refunds
Maxsold has two models - Maxsold Managed and Seller Managed. In one offering Maxsold is never on site and therefore has no visibility of the items sold. In the other, our teams catalog and thus have a bit more awareness of the items. That said, regardless of who is cataloging, both honest mistakes and dishonest actions can occur - thus, Maxsold uses a transparent claims process that has worked for centuries in the live auction world - specifically, the buyer is to inspect the item at pickup in full view of the Seller/auction staff and/or other buyers and make a claim (partial/full refund) if the item is found to be in a condition other than what was described before leaving the site. In both models, the process is the same and is outlined in the bidder terms (www.maxsold.com/terms) and on the buyer invoice:
CLAIMS: ENSURE YOU INSPECT items at pickup (and preview if available) and IMMEDIATELY inform the MaxSold team (or Seller if Seller Managed) of any issues related to mis-cataloging of condition (remembering that you are purchasing used items in AS IS WHERE IS condition). By departing from the pickup site you acknowledge that you have all your items and that you are satisfied with them and/or have brought up issues with the Lead on site. NO CLAIMS ARE PERMITTED AFTER REMOVING ITEMS FROM THE PREMISES as condition issues cannot be validated once items are released into your possession. If required, bring an expert to validate purchases at pickup. We are not responsible for the acts or omissions of the Seller.
This ensures fairness and transparency to both the buyer and the seller. When a buyer accepts an item without inspection, they are waiving any potential claim issues as, once the item leaves, there’s no way for Maxsold or the seller to know when the (potential) issue was created. Was it lost in transit? Damaged on the way home? Or is it someone trying to take advantage of the process (by ignoring a transparent opportunity to make a claim).
Bidders that accept and live by the terms love that the as is where is used goods start at $1 with the highest bidder winning. It’s a fair and transparent model for those who can accept and abide by the terms and conditions laid out (and agreed to) prior to bidding. To date, Maxsold’s error rate in selling used goods is unmatched in both the used and retail industry at less than 2% of all goods sold.
Buyer’s Premium
Like most auction houses, MaxSold charges a buyer’s premium that is average for the industry at 15%. It is listed on our website, confirmed prior to being allowed to bid, and calculated and displayed with every bid entered by the bidder to ensure they know what the bid amount is with Buyer’s Premium added. (see Billing/Invoicing paragraph in our bidder terms or check out the auction information of any auction we are conducting)
Pickup Day
To ensure an efficient experience for everyone and to create a finite experience for our Sellers, the pickup of all the goods in an auction are pre-set prior to the auction launch with it typically being only a few hours on one day. It is also specified that, if a bidder cannot attend (or send someone in their stead) on the scheduled pickup day, they must not bid. (see Removal/Pickup paragraph in our bidder terms or check out the auction information of any auction we are conducting).
MaxSold continues to reinvest all funds made in the pursuit of its vision to Sell. Everything. Simply for downsizing and estate clients without judgement:

The US company person I talked with was an appraiser, so she knew the value of our vintage and antique items. The local person was not very knowledgeable about items, more of an organizer for people clearing out houses. She charged by the hour, and after all was done, we didn't even clear $100 for literally thousand of dollars of antiques. The Lots she grouped were so large that adequate descriptions were not possible. Also, the number of "eyes on the auction" was pathetically small.
Answer: The site states clearly that you must pick up your article at the specific time and place. If you cannot do that or arrange for someone to do it for you... then don't bid.
Answer: Definitely not on their youtube channel as they've removed the ability to comment. This alone was enough for me to steer clear.
Answer: Please see our past auction results at http://maxsold.com/past-auctions/ - every auction we've done is listed for public viewing. You will see the sell through rate for each auction, and you can calculate the percent sold. Our average sell through is 98.7%.
Answer: Winning bids are charged to the credit card on file right AFTER each auction ends, along with 10% buyers premium and the applicable retail sales tax for your region. The first time you bid at any of our auctions, your card will be pre-authorized for $1.00. However, it is only a bank authorization for validation, not a charge, and it is usually removed in about a week by your bank.
Answer: Hi Peter, We found that when minimum bids or reserves are put on items, they typically go unsold. For more information on why we start our items at $1 check out this link: http://maxsold.com/reserve Here are some Seller FAQ's https://support.maxsold.com/hc/en-us/sections/200632154-Seller-FAQs You may also reach out to our sales team directly at our toll-free number 1-877-257-7799 ext 2. Answer: $700 + 30% if they do the photos and pick-up. If you do the work on your side it is $300 or 30% whatever is higher. It is near the bottom of this link. https://get.maxsold.com/sell-with-maxsold/

Hi Nancy,
We are sorry that you were not aware of the change to bid increments. There has always be a differing level of bid increments as pricing increases, the last change / update was around 2 years ago. Here is a link to the website where it is listed for future reference,
