Not sure how so many people came out of the woodwork to give one-star reviews but I haven't had any issues with makergeeks.
I ordered some filament during a grab bag sale and it works just as well as hatchbox, if not better.
Placed an order for filament in early December, immediate charge to the credit card. 50 days later after no communication, I requested a cancellation and refund. Got a cheery, will do and we'll have that done right now in reply. Nothing has happened since despite a reminder email that was sent two weeks ago. Total silence.
Please check other reviews before you think dealing with them is a good idea. F in BBB for example.
Despite being advertised as US brand it is all just badly prepacked chinaware, which by itself is just fine, but also at their prices its way too expensive. Than you have delay until it even ships and also late delivery, then incomplete part list, also some parts broken, no documentation of any kind but worst is customer support which has trouble understanding even scope of problem, let alone solve it. We will not be buying here any more.
What can I say that hasn't been said already? Don't buy from here. I tried to give them a second chance and they screwed me again. Double charged me one month for my Geek box without delivery, ignored all my emails, out of 7 months subscription, delivered 2 times, and more I'm sure but not worth getting into. Finally had to call the CC company and chargeback for the undelivered product. Oh well... To their credit, the product that did get delivered was worth the prices, but you end up paying double or triple from my experience with there dishonest billing.
One last thing: what company do they produce for as they claim? I've never seen any other distributor carry plastics with the temps they use for PLA. I have to assume that that claim is another bunch of B. S. from a B. S. company.
I ordered the 2 roll grab bag item, and ended up receiving to my cheer the two colors I was hoping for: black and red. The shipping occurred well within the time frame estimated in checkout.
I've been printing with the black pla, and it's been performing over my expectations, all parts have printed as expected, 230 was a little high on my prusa for non-sagging top layers, but that was fixed by just going down to 220.
I've experienced no clogging, the filament width seems self consistent, and the price per value is rather great in my experience.
I'll be going back (and have since this order) for my needs going forward.
Requested a refund, havent heard back. Very frustrating, like there filament, but cant print with it, if they dont ship or even communicate.
Will be filing a complaint with Credit card company, attorney general and BBB next week if they do t respond.
Placed an order on October 29th... Did not ship for 2 weeks... Cancelled order which they responded via email... Its Nov 29th and I still haven't gotten a refund despite twice a week emails that they said they would... Lousy customer service. This has also happened to a couple other people I know... Frustrating...
It was taking a while to ship my order filament. I sent a few emails, but was pleasantly surprised how quickly someone got back to me each time. In the end MakerGeeks and I were able to come to suitable solution by replacing a filament on my order with a stocked version. My order was shipped immediately to my satisfaction. It is always pleasure doing business with a company the responds immediately to their customer. Great job MakerGeeks!
Placed my order on 6/19/17 and today 8/14/17 i finally decided enough is enough. 2 months and no communication. Their excuse was "we are still waiting on the Black ABS colorant to come in"... for 2 months... I will NOT be doing any type of business with this company in the future.
Bought some filament during their Black Friday sale and waited over a month for it to ship. It never shipped. Finally cancelled the order and still waiting on my refund. It's good filament for a great price - if they actually ship your order. Personally, I can't wait months for filament that I already paid for.
I have been 3d printing for over a year as a semi-professional business (still have that day job :( ).
I have been using Maker Geeks for awhile now. I have had little to no issues with their filaments. They stand behind their product and work with you if there are any issues.
Fantastic company to deal with and top notch service.
Highly recommend!
I used to buy from these guys pretty frequently since they often had deals that made it the cheapest filament that would print decently. You always had to deal with long leads times and having to always keep an eye on the order; more than half the time they would forget to ship the order and you'd have to email them asking where it was. However since their quality has also gone to garbage; after getting two rolls of 1.75 filament that had spots with greater than 2mm diameter that kept jamming in the printer I gave up on them.
I've ordered from MG a couple of times now. Sadly, there won't be another. And with the loss of my business, they also lose the business of the entire school I mentor at. All because they won't actually ship anything... anything at all.
I keep getting responses "We are late getting our colorant, we'll ship what we have"... or "We're upgrading you to xxx so we can ship it". Nothing. It's over 2 months, and all I have are variants of the same response. I suppose I should be happier than others here, at least I'm getting a response! Still, I'd rather have the material I ordered.
I note that the blog announcement on their site says "We have a new website! It's faster, it's streamlined"... but they don't say anything about "We'll actually ship orders now!". Just that they can take them faster.
Oh well. Bypass them. I'm going to try some from other places and see how it works. At least I have a higher probability of actually getting something to try!
Placed an order 3/17/17, showing "usually ships in 5-7 business days". After waiting a until 3/24, where the order status still showed it had not shipped, raised a case with their support email. Got a standard response from them, indicating it would be another 5-7 business days. Emailed support again 4/6, got no response.
I have now raised a dispute with the credit card company.
I would never order from them again.
I ordered once and never got the product - emailed them because you cannot call them and they said they will ship it with free filament which never came. I just thought there was some mistake so I ordered the same product again with a response saying they were back ordered 2 months later I still have not received any product.
After being a fan of MakerGeeks for quite awhile, I finally experienced what so many others have gone through with them. Placed an order, and over a month of no shipping info, I emailed them. No reply. Emailed a week later. No reply. Filed a BBB complaint against them. No reply. Finally had to ask my bank to reverse the charge. What a shame, they do have good filament. If you ever get any. Everyone stay away.
Ordered a mix of HT-PLA and PETG and PETG-CF. Took 5 weeks and many emails to get the HT-PLA and PETG. I never got the PETG-CF and although they agreed to refund me for it, I have yet to get the refund. I'll be opening a ticket with credit card company...
If you decide to order from these folks, good luck to you!
Apparently these guys make filament for other companies (according to the info on their website). It seems like the wholesale orders have the highest priority for them. Next comes direct orders for full price, and if you order during a big sale you probably won't get it.
I have been buying filament from MakerGeeks for many years and have had amazing experiences with them. I have bought everything from Maker brand PLA, Maker PETG, ABS, to Raptor PLA. All has been very high quality stuff. I cannot say enough about how the team actually cares about their customers. If there is ever any issue, please contact them and they will make it right!
Edit: I just noticed all of the one star reviews below. Not sure who these people are, but I can personally vouch for Josh and MakerGeeks that these reviews do not represent him or his company and team. Not sure what agenda these reviewers have...
These guys not only make their filament right here in the USA, it's great quality and consistent. Their customer service is top notch as well, and they provide great tech support for their products. Do them and yourself a favor and support a small business.
Just wanted to let folks know that all but one(Mike F) of the five star reviews for this business are fake; all the 5 star reviews are posted on the same day! If you are gonna fake reviews at least be a little more clever about it! Once again makergeeks proves that it is just a shady operation all the way around. Check the BBB too, they have 7 complaints currently filed.
Answer: Even though BBB is another useless scam, Sally D here is correct. MakerGeeks is a cleverly operated niche scam business that targets customers who do not have time to dispute a $400-$900 charge. They randomly fulfill orders with generic filament, never fulfill larger orders, and seem to employ a few people to run the website, some blogs, and produce fake reviews, like 50% of reviews in this thread. You can help shut them down by complaining to FTC, local MO authorities (assuming that they are in MO) and to domainabuse-AT-tucows.com where their domain name is registered.
