Order placed 7/27, few items shipped quickly... I was shocked! The remaining 8 items, still waiting on. Only way to contact is email... which their site will not accept, keep getting message to try again later! Love their items, but last order from them! Wish I could rate them 0 stars!
I was surprised to see my purchase with a "made in China" notation. This adds to my conclusion that there is no logical reason for their ridiculously high prices. Perhaps once upon a time they were artistic products but that is so over.
MacKenzie childs has beautiful products and a very high end price. They have NO customer service department so if anything is wrong you are out of luck. No one returns your emails and there is no way to remedy issues. Ordered a set of reindeer ornaments. Two were not delivered from set and one reindeer I received two of. Also the item went further on sale before I received order. No possible way to fix any of these things. Totally no response.
I've been ordering from Mackenzie Childs just this year and have a bad taste in my mouth for this company! The quality of the merchandise is very poor! It's had chips in the coffee cups and is discolored around the rim! They tell you that if it has any chips in it to not use it! Well what happens when it arrives that way?!
Although I received credit for it. Mackenzie child has already ward me that they would not exchange or refund me for any defects that I might find on my order that is coming from the online barn sale! I feel I'm already doomed before I get my items!
I definitely won't order from them again and will let everyone know how awful their product is. Please save yourself the headache before you press the keys in ordering from them!
If you do decide to take the gamble, all I can say is good luck!
I purchased Mackenzie Childs coffee mugs from HQ. I read instructions on care and only washed them in sink with soap and water. While washing out cup I noticed a chip at the bottom of the mug down to enamel. It's a good thing I didn't swallow this. Called HQ and they said they only warrant them for 30 days. I paid a lot of money for these cups and expect them to last years with proper care. The quality and reputation of these products have gone downhill. I'm not surprised since they are made in China and I'm sure MC makes a good profit for poor quality. Will never buy this product again.
They offered me a 20% discount on a new tea pot because seeing my photos of broken, chipped, rusted teapot, they said it was unsafe and I should buy a new one... for $400. Also, my enamel pot from MacKenzie-Childs is chipped inside and thus unsafe to use. I only hand washed. Attractive looking lowest quality products. Horrible
My teapot rusted after less that a year. I read several reviews with same problem. I was offered a 20% discount on next purchase. My son bought me the teapot when he was just 22 because he felt it was a special piece. I have not told him it turned out to b garbage. OH I forget they offered to send me a damn screw and wing nut to replace the corroded one. Go Fiqure!
Ordered a present and allowed time for the item to come in based on the shipping and delivery time frame. Item never shipped within the noted timeframe. Called on 2 occasions and both CS Rep could not tell me anything other than it has not shipped yet and they do not see a date when it was going to ship. They were both rude, one even cutting me off saying there was nothing she could do and I basically just have to wait. Neither could answer why they do not follow through on shipping times for an in stock item. This company has very bad customer service and does not uphold their shipping promise. Still have not received the present and the special occasion is tomorrow. Who knows when I will ever get the package and what condition it will be in. Was thinking about starting a collection for a friend, but now will never buy from this place again. Based on the reviews I am now reading I should have never bought in the first place. Do not buy from them.
I purchased a Mackenzie Child's whistling teakettle in late august from Williams Sonoma. About a week ago the whistle fell apart. When I was trying to put it back together I noticed the metal ring around the top is loose.
Williams Sonoma will not refund or replace because it's beyond thirty days.
Mackenzie Childs will not refund or replace because I purchased it at Williams Sonoma.
This lousy teakettle cost approximately $150. For this kind of money, hey - for any kind of money - I expect a product intended for daily use to last longer than four months.
I'm disgusted. Angry. Frustrated.
And I'll never spend a penny at either store again.
I ordered a Courtly Check Letter and it snapped in half. For the price that it is sold for, you would at least think it was made of solid material. I emailed the company to see what they could do since this was a gift and they refused to give an exchange since it is out of the 90 d window of purchase. I will never purchase an item from them again considering this was a gift and I am not embarrassed.
Purchased a salt and pepper shaker and used it for less than a month. It started peeling. They said there was nothing they could do. Sorry. Amazon, they are not. They were very curt and suggested that I dropped it or damaged it in some way. Wow! What lousy customer service! They don't care one bit for customer satisfaction. Shabby way of doing business
For many years I was a customer with Mackenzie Childs. First of all the quality of all of their merchandise is now poor. You cannot reach a customer service person by phone and I would never recommend any of their products. When I do get an email from corporate They are rude and not accommodating.
Horrible Customer Service!
They only sent me half of my barn sale order. They said they emailed me about a credit card issue. I never received an email from them. I was told by a supervisor that I could re-order the items at 20% off! What nerve! I will not purchase items from them anymore!
I have placed my order 13 days ago still not shipped, I called the customer service she said they are backed up. Funny they said the same last time I ordered from them, 2 weeks later it still was not shipped. I get bombarded with emails from MC promoting their line. And when I place an order it takes them forever to ship out. Terrible service.
After many years of being a Mackenzie Child's customer, it appears we need to let them go. My wife has hundreds of their items throughout the house and has loved this company until this year. Presentation, long ago when an item shipped, had as careful thought as the product itself.
Now, wrong items shipped two months late. Their "new" system changed the original order we made, assigned it a new order number, then shipped higher priced items (Bowls) than we ordered. Similar, but larger and really can't use more of this size. Took days and multiple emails pleading with them to respond. Finally, they do respond a week
Later rudely and blaming us for the miscommunication. They will do nothing.
Really? This is not the first problem this year BTW.
This company needs to get themselves together quickly or I'm afraid they will suffer a tremendous loss of customers. Such a shame.
For at least one year and counting Mackenzie-Childs continues to ignore customers --- even their best ones --- orders, complaints, etc. It has gotten so bad that even the stores that carry their merchandise primarily cannot get a reply from them. If they are about to close, then pay their customers their back orders or $$$ and close the doors --- with whatever reputation is left. Do NOT be sending me expensive catalogs to order more and be advertising new products on your site. Don't you have any pride?
The top to the butter dish I ordered did not match the bottom. I returned it about 2 weeks after their 30 day window because I had been out of town. I paid to insure and mail it. They refused to give me a refund, just a credit I could use over the phone. This was an unusable product because the purpose of buying something like this is for its appearance. If I wanted mere function I could buy one for 10% of what I paid. I was upset and the supervisor said I was yelling at her (I was not) and said she would disconnect the call. They simply did not care, at all.
If you want their products, don't buy directly from them.
I ordered an item at a greatly reduced rate during this year's Barn Sale, and 10 days later, I received a letter saying the item was oversold and my order was being cancelled. The item I purchased was still listed in the sale on the next day, so I don't think it was actually sold out when I paid for it. I designed a new nursery around my purchase, and now I cannot complete it. They offered me a 20% off coupon, but the item I bought was 55% off, so it's not enough to help me buy something comparable. Other items I had on my cart were removed when they sold out, so it makes no sense. I said I would wait for a new shipment, but they said it was being discontinued and apologized for the inconvenience. Still not acceptable since I already spent $2800 on the nursery and now I'll most likely have to change it. Terrible way to do business.
Purchased a couple of items about a month ago, emailed them, called 800 number, they refer you to the website... I am about to call bank and dispute transaction. If they are not capable, they should not be in business!
Ever since the company sold the service level is terrible. Even to make a purchase you are told "so sorry". I had the Memorial Weekend Discount, and DID try to check out but the site wouldn't let me. I emailed three times to explain what had happened and only got "Sorry". There is no phone number to call-- they one they had for years is disconnected. I have been purchasing from them since the 1990s AND am a Loyalty member, which I will be ending. I will also be selling all my MC items on Marketplace.
Answer: I would like to find out, I like their enamelware, not Ugly pottery, but the shipping time and service is terrible.
Answer: Not possible. Ive emailed now 6 times in 3 weeks with no response.
Answer: Their whole line ---- and I have two households with lots of Mac-Ken products inside and out --- is whimsical, happy, quirky... almost unique. It is NOT quality. Never was... Their products from kitchenware to chairs are for view, not for use. There is no quality in any of it. Just recently, I paid to have their kitchen side fish chair (almost $2K) repaired, my cost, by a furniture restorer here. It's a cute piece but is NOT for daily use. We owned it only two months and are empty nesters in a pandemic --- almost no use. STill, it's not for a large person. We are not large... Their tuffet arrived with one stool leg broken. These are pieces, once only American made, now coming from nearly everywhere else. Still, whimsical if you can get them. But don't order anything that you are not willing to lose the cost. And if it does arrive intact --- a $700 lampshade arrived with its lamp missing --- take care; you may not want to use it. That's the truth. And, again, I have two houses full of merchandise. But I am buying no more... until IF this ever resolves itself. The word is the company is going to fold.
