I like MacKenzie Childs whimsical products, however, it is becoming increasingly obvious I have to find another company for unique decor. I have made numerous attempts to contact their customer service during COVID. No response. Customer service at the call center, when calling was available, was equally poor. Mostly rude reps.
Shipping is always delayed. Some products are inferior. There is no opportunity to rate products so caveat emptor applies ALWAYS. Such a pity. I think there are some talented artisans working for MacKenzie Childs. They need to find another company for showcasing their artistic talents.
Never will I order from them Mackenzie-Childs again. I placed an order in July and it's now the last of August and they haven't even shipped my merchandise. Customer service is the worst from this company.
I purchased a small black & white teapot and found that they did not use stainless steel scews/washers to attach the decorative top.
After a while I noticed rust had appeared and when I contacted them they said I had it over 60 days and they would do nothing.
Worst customer service I have ever experienced. Whoever heard of not using stainless steel around water.
I purchased two sets of placements 8 total for my wife as an accessory to other kitchen items recently purchased including a tea pot, wall switches, tea bag canister and tea towels. After two days of use a stain
On one of the placemats ruined the appearance. After speaking to a company staff member and sending a photo of the placement we were told the stain was normal wear and tear. Now for $ 80.00 we expected a lot more durability then two meals worth. After three more calls a representative agreed to credit my credit card account AFTER the item was picked up and returned. 3 weeks now after the agreement and still waiting for pick up or credit. Horrible service from anyone especially from a so called exclusive company.
Time to search for a new company. Rest assured Mackenzie - Childs has seen the last of my orders.
I ordered two items through Mackenzie Child's website November 7th. After two weeks without the notification that they shipped I sent an email asking when they were scheduled to ship. Got a form letter back with no date. A few days later got the shipping notice for one item. Waited another week and asked when the second item would ship and asked if they could expedite it as it was a gift and got a nasty email stating that they would not be expediting any orders. A month after I placed the order I got the email the second item had shipped. They used to make all their items in the factory in Aurora now most of their items are made in China. Expensive for Chinese garbage
I have a wide variety of their black and white table pieces. They do NOT stand by their products... even if defective. I was so disappointed that they would not replace a chipped pitcher that is always hand washed and only use for flowers. They would not offer a discount to replace it.
I have hundreds of dollars of purchases still waiting to be shipped! Orders were place mid of May to the first week of June. I've emailed them for a status on the ship date for my orders and I'm getting the Covid excuse; "due to Covid, your order may be delayed." Well, after reading the previous reviews, this problem existed BEFORE Covid! Why have items on your site that you either don't have in stock or can't/won't ship?! Meanwhile, you have my money and account tied up! Every few days I'm being recharged or charged a different amount! But, still no merchandise! When (if) i finally receive my items that will be the last purchase. BUYER BEWARE: if you plan to shop for Christmas gifts, place your order by August!
I don't think I have ever dealt with a company that had worse customer service. If you are thinking of making a purchase from them, run and don't look back, because it you have any problems whatsoever, even if you have spent hundreds of dollars with them, the only thing they will do is throw you under a bus (that is, if they even respond to your concern). For the price they ask for their products, one would think they would show at least a little graciousness toward the customer. I will NEVER purchase from them again, and I will make sure to tell anyone who will listen to keep far away from them. The only thing one will acquire from them is your time wasted, your money wasted,, and a headache.

I can't get MacKenzie Child customer service to hear me. They only have email, no phone number. I have been trying to contact them for 6 months and they will not respond. Once they have your charge card information they will use it to charge whatever they want.
Beware!
The absolute worst customer service ever— ordered back in July have yet to fulfill the order. Keep charging cc authorizing and reauthorizing without any update on the status. No response to multiple submission to customer service email. They are a fraud.
I ordered 2 weeks ago and my item has not been shipped yet! I emailed customer service twice and never gotten a response. I called them and a representative promised to email me back ASAP for an update and will make sure she gets ahold of the warehouse. I called them again 8 hours later since i never heard back from them and another customer representative told me she did not see any follow up note from the previous representative i have spoken to. I need items shipped by Christmas and this company is giving me a hassle as a first time customer! I will never order from this store again!
Great looking catalogs. A beautiful web presence. E-mails hawking exceptional goods on pretty much a daily basis. However, caveat emptor (buyer beware). As much as you may want to purchase MKC wares, you will likely be made to wait for MONTHS before ever receiving them. Their e-mail based customer service is all that's available to field your questions as to order status and given all that responsibility, their C/S representatives have no authority at all over when it is an order may ship. There's no short-list. Dealing with this company is a test of patience and NOT for the faint of heart. If you want to be made to wonder (and maybe even worry) as to when (and if) that cherished item will appear on your doorstep, then give them a try. I strongly advise against it as I am sure that you've got better things to do with your time (as do I.)
These valences cost $100 each! The fabric is cheap and thin. These valences will become sun-bleached in days. In addition, the print is a cheap facsimile of this pricey patterned. I spent the outrageous amount of money believing I would receive a substantial product that would withstand the test of time. Instead, I feel like I have been hoodwinked. I truly wish I had read the reviews here before I bought.
I have been a collector for decades. I placed an order during the "barn sale" for the first time and I can tell you I will NEVER BUY anything again! I received the most hideous teapot with a white lid and the base is totally yellow. With two pieces it is not usable. I spoke with customer service after waiting months for the order only to find out they will not exchange it. BUYER BEWARE! It was my first time to shop from the Barn Sale! I never leave bad reviews unless the are warranted. I like to leave great reviews. Sadly their customer service is HORRIBLE!
No delivery days, they answer you if you are not happy cancel the order. I am speechless, the force you to cancel and second time i cancel. No more orders from them
They don't deserve even 1 star;(
I ordered items from the company on July 28th and still have not received the order. Have contacted customer service several times, email only, they have no in person phone customer service. Email replies keep saying my order is on the way, and when they finally sent it October 2nd, it was missing one, very expensive, item... that I have been charged for.
Terrible service from what is supposed to be a luxury brand. Not up to par for the price.
I ordered ack in July and we are now in September and still my orders have not shipped. I contacted customer service they email because there's they are not answering phone calls and still no response...
I ordered Christmas decorations and still haven't received them as of December 20th. I have sent multiple emails and have gotten no response. I am a frequent shopper at Mackenzie Childs and am part of the rewards program. As of today, I will never shop at Mackenzie Childs again. They do not care about their customers...
Ordered $395.00 worth of merchandise on the 6th of December, was told it would be shipped on the 12th. Was shipped the 23rd and received it on 29 December. I believe they lie to keep your sale. "Just in time for Christmas" Lol.
After wife opened products I was amazed we paid $95.00 for coffee canisters that are made in China. (peeled the stickers off) Not sure why they are advertising on their website now hiring painter, etc. Guess to make it look like they are being made in the U.S.A. $95.00 for a Chinese $5.00 canister. Greed has overcome..
Bought many things with them. They all come now from india, china etc.
Customer service is extremly bad. Items always backordered. They never get a single purchase from me and if you look at their bbb and yelp reviews you see the complaints all are about similar nature
Answer: I would like to find out, I like their enamelware, not Ugly pottery, but the shipping time and service is terrible.
Answer: Not possible. Ive emailed now 6 times in 3 weeks with no response.
Answer: Their whole line ---- and I have two households with lots of Mac-Ken products inside and out --- is whimsical, happy, quirky... almost unique. It is NOT quality. Never was... Their products from kitchenware to chairs are for view, not for use. There is no quality in any of it. Just recently, I paid to have their kitchen side fish chair (almost $2K) repaired, my cost, by a furniture restorer here. It's a cute piece but is NOT for daily use. We owned it only two months and are empty nesters in a pandemic --- almost no use. STill, it's not for a large person. We are not large... Their tuffet arrived with one stool leg broken. These are pieces, once only American made, now coming from nearly everywhere else. Still, whimsical if you can get them. But don't order anything that you are not willing to lose the cost. And if it does arrive intact --- a $700 lampshade arrived with its lamp missing --- take care; you may not want to use it. That's the truth. And, again, I have two houses full of merchandise. But I am buying no more... until IF this ever resolves itself. The word is the company is going to fold.
