This service is nothing more than a virtual auction to see who will pay the most for a ride! We got tricked into clicking for a $10 per mile ride (all the other offers were much higher!). Then they kept changing the arrival time until it was eventually 75 minute wait while we stood on the curb! When we tried to cancel, it was too late.
I've only used Lyft once. I heard they were superior to Uber so I thought I would give them a try. The driver picked us up in a timely manner in a sick Audi, really nice ride. But he did not speak one word of English lol. My friends and I are a laid back group, but it did get a little tricky trying to tell him to turn left/right when we don't know Spanish. I do like how you can tip right on the app and don't need cash like with uber.
I absolutely love Lyft. They do a great job. They let you know about the cc holds. If I leave my valuables in a Lyft ride, I don't expect the driver to check behind m, because I'm adult and should be responsible for my own things, but I've had several drivers contact me and also return things that I have left in their vehicles at no extra charge. I have also entered wrong info into the gps, and they still get me where I'm going. As with any company, things can go wrong, but Lyft definitely does a great job trying to make sure everything runs smoothly.
The ride itself is usually OK with the driver being competent and getting you to the right place. However, I've had frequent problems with my request being arbitrarily cancelled without warning because no one would take my request - or worse have a driver accept it and then cancel at the last minute. Given that I've thus far been using it to get to work while i work on my license, this is pretty unacceptable - especially since it means I can't trust the estimated time of arrival either.
Both services periodically suffer from faulty mapping systems where the pickup location is incorrectly identified even after the correct location is shown on the app initially. This happens more often with designated hotel pickup locations, like in Las Vegas. I noticed that many drivers use their own cell phones with Google maps precisely for this reason. When this problem does occur, it is extremely frustrating for the passenger, especially since often the drivers cannot be contacted by phone or text. In my experience the problem does occur more often with Uber
So if you're 2 minutes late coming out they can charge you for it. If they are 2+ minutes late picking you up the price sure does not go down. As you're standing in the cold watching them turn around several times etc.
Why do y'all charge me $60 sometimes $80 to go down the street? When usually it's about 15. 17… and I have to have 3 more words for my complaint to be submitted like dang, ion got a lot to say but that's wild and a proves my point
Don't use Lyft. They take advantage in any way they can. They charged me $70 over the projected cost. Customer service was zero help. They repeat the same lingo from their training I'm guessing.
Unfair, frustrating, shady is all I can say.
Lyft will steal your money monthly. When you try to resolve the issue, customer service is so rude and unprofessional. These people have zero regard for people. For the past 5 months, I've been charged monthly for services I've never received. They don't care to help. This is not my first time reaching out about the same issue.
It's impossible to get real customer service - maybe that's the day and age we live in? It's just maddening as a consumer - If you have expectations, you're made to feel guilty because "it's a pandemic." Yes, it is. AND I still have expectations that companies are ethical and do what they say they will. Lyft more than doubled the rate for my most recent ride from the time I pulled it up and pressed "confirm." Additionally, the maps ALWAYS take the driver some willy nilly round about way and I always end up having to walk at least a half a block home. And don't even get me started on the air fresheners in the cars. I'd rather ride in a car that smelled like teenage boys than these damn air fresheners. I had to shower as soon as I got home and the stench is STILL in my nose. It makes me ill. There should be a way to filter those cars out for those of us with allergy and respiratory issues. It's DISGUSTING.
My first ride with Lyft and will be the last., this company paying drivers so low that couple drivers refused to come pick me up even when a driver was only 3 minutes away from where I was. Finally they got a driver came pick me up after 50 minutes of waiting, make me late for the greyhound bus to Dallas, TX for my job orientation. They changed me $48 and paid driver under $20 for that ride, no wonder 2 drivers refused to pick me up!
Lyft basically stole my money. On 11/21/22 I selected a ride from Lyft. The calculated cost of the ride was $33. After exiting my ride, I look down at my phone saying Lyft charged me $70. I have read that the price can change if you don't order within 10 seconds. This may have happened as I waited 5 minutes to make the order. However, going from $33 to $70 is an incredibly high increase for waiting 5 minutes to make the order.
Lyft made me think I had several drivers on their way only to cancel each one and then say they're trying to find the closest driver, me and my kids were trying to go to a 4th of July festival with a friend of mine and it let me down! This isn't the only time this has happened this has also happened when I was trying to get to work. Lyft sucks it's an absolute useless ride share app that I do not recommend to anyone anywhere
Will take your tips and other promised bonuses. Customer service is horrible. Left in a chat for hours and then they ended chat. They told me my phone was having connection issues or I missed a ride but neither happen, yet they never paid me the money I worked for and put miles on my car for.
We scheduled a ride to the airport a week before leaving. The morning of our trip the Lyft app showed that our Steve in a Dodge Caravan was en route but 15 min Away. After that time the app suddenly stated, "Looking for driver. " Steve disappeared. Thankfully I had the UBER app and ordered a ride with them. Uber driver appeared just in time to get us to our flight. Thank heavens there is an option other than Lyft.
They email you a discount offer then raise the rates on the same journey you have taken multiple times in the past month making it more expensive than normal. Rip off! Gonna start using Uber instead. Don't like to be tricked like that!
Reserved Lyft in advance, then went to regular pickup space for drive share in my apartment building at designated time. Received message that driver had arrived, but there's NO WAY to message driver back to ask where he is! So, at 70+ years old and all dressed up for an evening out, we had to run all the way around the block till we found him. Across the SIDE street at the farthest possible distance from either the garage or the main entrance.
I took a 12 mile ride that was $22 by the time I got home they took 71.99$ out of my bank account saying that it was for traffic fees there's absolutely no way to contact anybody there's absolutely no way to get a refund they will not help you at all never will recommend this driving service ever to anyone
Lyft Treats its Employees like crap. No personalized support. No way to speak to a human being. They just keep spitting out trouble shooting script on repeat without actually taking in what you're saying. Even when you take the exact steps they mentioned. It just seems like mostly low paid workers with very few management with critical thinking and power to make decisions. There is now wat they will continue to survive like this. Upper management needs a MAJOR shake up.
Be very weary of using Lyft
Left a bad review because driver was going entirely to fast around curves and hills, no regards for safety. Then they want to charge us $80+ dollars for getting a little dirt from our shoes on the floor mat.
Answer: They randomly out of the blue deactivated my account. This was there explanation. We found your account to be violating our Terms of Service and you will no longer be able to use the Lyft platform. I can honestly I have not violated anything so clearly there is something wrong with there information but the worst thing is they dont even tell you what the problem is. Oh well guess take my business to uber instead.
Answer: Lft runs different promotions and depending on promotion they promise a signup bonus(500-1100$). Now if they really pay the bonus it's totally up to their discretion.in my case they didn't pay. I completed the 60 Rides required in the first 30 days, which was the requirment to qualify for the bonus but they still didn't pay. After a brief email exchange with a lyft employee(they do not give their position or full name) they stopped answering. Now I am filing a complain with BBB and I will let you know where it goes when I have updates.
Answer: Lyft's customer service is terrible. If they won't correct it, file a dispute with your credit card company.
