Yes, it may be helpful to help you resume once, and then you don't use their "self-service" again. Without keeping you in the look of their service through emails or updates, they will charge you $40 a month plus extra little charges here and there ($1.19, $. 03, $1.00). I called to cancel and get a refund only which they did for one month, the others they don't refund back after I told them that I didn't use it again and that their service was not helpful.

Hi Queeny L.,

I’m very sorry that you have had this experience with our service. We explain that the subscription is auto-renewing. As an international company, LiveCareer processes payments through LiveCareer UK, Ltd. With its offices in London, England. Some banks charge an international transaction fee, even when the charge is in US dollars. These fees are charged by your bank and not LiveCareer.

The refund that we processed was a courtesy credit. Unfortunately, that is the maximum that we can refund. We do state clearly on the sales page that the subscription auto renews on the 15th day if not canceled. We also mention this on every page in the payment process as well as in the order confirmation email we sent you after your purchase.

We are very committed to providing great customer service and customer satisfaction, and again are very sorry that you had this experience. We take all feedback very seriously. It will be forwarded to our Marketing Team.

Best regards,

Anna

This resume builder site is amazing
July 7, 2014

This resume builder site is amazing. They even have sentences already professionally written out pertaining to your past jobs, all you have to do is click on a sentence and click the add button. I built a professional resume in less then 10 minutes. Thank you livecareer.

The payment didn't go through even though my card got charged 4 times, my money was sent back, but that's weird because I've never had that problem before? So I had to use a different card, but now I'm skeptical that they are going to charge both my cards now.

The web site leads you to believe this is a free service. But once you finish they have a 1.95 fee to print resume. After spending an hour on there site completing your resume you say " F" it and pay the 1.95 thinking you just want to be done. After the hour you don't notice the small print at the bottom. $39.80 per month $477.60 per year not worth it and they know it. Thats why the website is set up to be misleading. After i realized my account had been hit 3 months at $39.80 i called customer service and listened to music for about an hour and a half... Nobody ever answered... went online. Used website chat, i had to login to cancel. They refused to give any refund not even for the $39.80 that was still pending in my bank account. Would not recommend this website to anyone!

Available, helpful, and patience CSR

I was stressing out when I called, but relieved to find the kind of distance customer service rep. Rep went beyond telling me how to solve my problems, to fixing it himself. Was very delicate in making sure I was completely satisfied with his work. Not hurried to get you off the phone...

Not for part time work
June 18, 2016

Just needed extra work part time. And of course you need a resume so I thought I was getting a free template ends up you get signed up for subscription right off the bat. So I'm out $27.00. But looks like it would be good for someone looking for a full time career.

I, like many of you, signed up for the 2 week service. When I went to cancel my account, it was too late and they already charged me $34.95. When I chatted with a customer service rep, mid typing she ended the conversation. So then I called. What did they tell me? That since I've paid, why don't I take advantage of the services? Hmm I don't know, because I already have a job and don't need your services. What I do need is $34.95 in my account to pay my bills! This company is a sham, stay away! You sign up for one thing, and they sign you up something else.

Dear Nicole,

Thanks for your comments.

We are very clear that when you subscribe there is an auto-renewing feature for which you can cancel anytime and if you don’t cancel your subscription within the given period, we will bill you at the monthly rate of $34.95. We state this on your payment confirmation page and again in your payment confirmation email.

Many subscribers continue to use the service and update their resumes for each job they apply to, and appreciate the continued service. We don’t sign you up for something else; we just want you take full advantage of the services you’ve already paid for. If a subscriber does not wish to continue their subscription and does not want to be billed further, we have multiple ways by which to cancel: You can call our customer service number at 1-888-816-0576, 17 hours a day, 7 days a week; you can cancel by live chat, or, by writing an -mail to customerservice@livecareer.com. You can even go to our website, where there is a self-cancellation feature under the “My Account” section.

I signed up for a $2 two week trial to help me wrote a few cover letters, and when the trial was up I did not use the site anymore. Two months later I was charged 36$ which was all of my grocery money that I had left. I talked to their customer service and it turns out I had to cancel the subscription instead of it automatically cancelling, which in my opinion is a sneaky underhanded practise, however their customer service representative helped me get the two months subscription back quickly and kindly. 5* for the people who work there but 1* for the company's practises!

I will report this site to the FCC. Fraudulent company... I never signed up and they are taking $39.80 every week. Watch your statements carefully and change your card info. The 888# on their site and 800# on my bank statements are non-working numbers. I even got charged an international fee which proves this company is NOT based in San Francisco.

Knowing that this was a paid service upfront would have been nice. Of course I love the resume I just worked hard to create, so I want to download it. The fee isn't expensive but it leaves the user feeling forced and tricked.

Thanks, Jasmine, for the feedback!

To clarify, we offer two types of accounts, the first one being a basic access account that gives you the chance to try out our builder before deciding to purchase our premium features, this account allows you to download a plain text version completely free. We also provide a full access account for a small fee that grants you 14-days to print, email, or download your documents using our copyrighted templates, but these features are NOT listed within the free account.

In addition, we do offer a 100% money-back guarantee for our 14-day trial if you are not satisfied with our services.

I don't even want to give this company one star. They are a total rip off. You can not print any resume you build and are still charged a small fee with each attempt. On top of the small fee you are also subjected to having $40 per month deducted from your account. Do not get involved with this company. They are many reputable companies to help build your resume in the USA, the company is located in the Philippines, regardless of what they tell you.

Worst experience
January 31, 2019

I used their website for a day to build my resume, and paid 3$ which I feel is fair. They charged me 25$ after 2 weeks which seems their policy. I spoke to their customer service and the guy was polite and promised me the money will be refunded. Which never happened, so I had to get with my bank and dispute the charge Looks like they fought back with BOA and reverted the charge. Their customer service is outsourced and the sweet words are a lie. I would suggest to be careful, they were unwilling to send any details thru email when I called them again regarding the same.

Hello, Muralidharan:

We are truly sorry for any inconvenience that this may have caused and we're deeply sorry to hear that you experienced this with our company, under no circumstance do we like to hear this kind of news. Upon further account evaluation, we are unable to offer you a refund at this time. Our decision is based on the fact that as a customer, you chose to contact your financial institution before contacting us to provide the refunds to your account. Since these charges were disputed, you will need to contact your bank so they can provide you with the proper resolution. Once your bank intervenes, it is no longer up to us, because the charges were already disputed.

We hope that this information helps clear things up. If you need help in the future, please do not hesitate to contact us directly, as we'll be very happy to assist you personally with anything you need. We are sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused. Please feel free to contact us in case you have further questions.

First off I don't think their resume format was impressive, I made the mistake of not reading the find print after purchasing a resume for $1.95. After a couple of weeks they charged me $39.80. I called and expressed how I felt and wanted to be refunded fully. They did a pro-rate and state they will refund me $29.85. I have not received that yet. I did learn a very valuable lesson! Read the reviews on any site you plan on purchasing from before you purchase. It will save you much aggravation. If I would of reviewed their site, I would of realized what I was getting my self in to.

Fantastic Customer Service.
September 19, 2017

I used this website to make a resume for my college. The resume creator was super helpful and guides you every step of the way! Although, one thing to watch out for is that there will be a recurring cost eventually, so keep an eye out for that!
I also just wanted to say that I had to talk to someone from customer service, his name was Juan Morales, and he was so fantastically helpful and patient. Overall, fantastic website!

Initially, I thought this company stole my money. They did give me the impression that I pay 7.50 per month for a service and can cancel anytime, but took 95.40 from my credit card for a yearly (rather than monthly) subscription. I felt as if I was lied to. However, I called them this morning, and someone picked up the phone in less than two full rings. The lady I spoke to was EXCELLENT. She was kind, and very understanding. She downgraded my subscription, and refunded me 93 dollars. This company is not as bad as first impressions might indicate. I say give them a try. You will hate how the rates are sold to you, but you will love the service.
