I'm 84 and I only used my laptop for emails however I was running Win 7 and I was informed I need to buy a new laptop. I spent many hours on the phone to Stan and found him to be very patient and helpful.
I received my laptop yesterday from laptop and am pleased to report it was installed with Win 10 saving me $1500. Absolute gentleman at this establishment.
Purchased a laptop from this company. The initial computer we ordered after waiting sometime we were informed they could not now supply but sent us a similar one. On receiving the laptop the keyboard had the letter N key blank with no letter printed on it. On contacting the company they replied they do not normally replace keys. Just recently a low battery alert comes on every time the laptop is fired up. We have only had the laptop 9 months. No the company does not cover "consumables". So never again will we deal with this company and will share the negative review far and wide.
They send me a laptop that won't even turn on. They don't respond to my urgent request for refund and are not afraid of customers complaining to Consumers Affairs. They don't provide you with a phone number and are basically impossible to reach.
I did a bit of research on refurbished laptop specs vs price, with the aim of getting a machine for my young son to game on... essentially a modest-priced laptop with decent specs. Price ranged considerably (in some cases double the price for same spec)... with laptop.com.au being amongst the most competitive.
So I ordered a laptop through their website. This was the only bad part of the experience... they do have a pretty archaic billing process which, after purchase, made me and my bank a bit nervous... to the point where my credit card got locked as a suspicious transaction. There was no immediate receipt of purchase (that was manually processed the next day) that had alarm bells ringing for me.
I contacted laptop.com.au via email and Jesse got back to me promptly. He was professional, courteous and most importantly reassuring. I sorted out the credit card lock and everything else went smoothly. I ordered the laptop on the evening of Thursday 28 October and the laptop was couriered to my door Wednesday 3 November. Less than 5 business days turnaround.
The laptop has met my expectations of purchase with no issues (at this early point).
So in summary, I got a well-priced refurbed laptop delivered speedily in a COVID-delayed delivery environment. Staff were prompt at resolving concerns/issues. All in all a 3.5 star experience, which could easily be a 4.5 star experience if they upgrade their billing systems.
Ordered a laptop and provided the CC of my Boss. They want to check if that CC is not stolen by deposing less than 50 cents to it. The company's finance department has enough things to do than looking for your tiny amount of deposit. You can still find that my registration account is a business email and still think that I might ordered it using a stolen CC? Are you guys really that stupid?
I bought a cheap Toshiba laptop from this company in 2017 with no issues. Four years later when that laptop died, I decided to trust Laptop.com.au again, as it all worked out last time right? This time I went with a more expensive purchase, of a Lenovo Yoga refurbished. Basically, the laptop they sent to me didn't work when I took it out of the box, and I Emailed and corresponded with Jesse, who was very helpful and gave clear instructions on how to return it. About three weeks later I received an email from Jesse saying they were going to send me a new laptop as the old one didn't work.
The new laptop arrived today, about 4 days later, and so far so good with the laptop, but I won't be shopping here again as it was such a hassle and I went without a laptop for about a month.
I read these reviews before I bought it and I thought i would be one of the lucky ones who just gets what they pay for... it's not worth the risk, just buy from somewhere else!
Hi,
Thought that i would write a review about these guys to balance out a bit of the negatives. I bought an Macbook air from laptop.com.au last month and foolishly did not read up on any reviews as they were an Australian company with a physical retail shop, so no red flags for me.
After I had chosen and paid for my laptop, then did I decided to read the reviews. Much to my horror they were getting slated by everyone and my heart sank as I had already paid them. I thought that I would get the wrong product or something sub-par and damaged and I would have to fight with them over the next few months to get my money back.
The order was taking some time to be shipped, although the website claims express delivery, so I attempted to cancel the order as the product had not been dispatched. I received an email an hour later saying that the order had been dispatched and i thought "dodgy *#@kers", they are sending it right away so that i cannot cancel the order and get a refund. Now i wait to see what they send me...
When the mac book arrived a week later i took it straight to the mac shop still in the box to have it assessed and to make sure that it matched the specs as advertised.
To my surprise everything was as stated on the website and with all genuine apple parts, in perfect operating condition. I got exactly what i ordered and there was no damage to it at all so this is why I'm giving them 4* and a good rating.
The only problems that i had with Laptop.com.au was with the time it took to dispatch and deliver my product, although i can understand the delays in posting due to the Covoid-19 situation. It would also be nice to mark the macbooks if they are considered "vintage".
I would suggest anyone buying a refurbished laptop, in my case Mac book to do their homework on the model as my one is now classed as vintage by apple so they will soon cease to make replacement parts.in which case if it fails in a year then it will be as much use as a paperweight!
I can only suggest avoiding this company at all costs. I ordered one laptop to have a bloke ring me and tell me that they didn't have any and had to send me a different one. I received a faulty laptop and they told me to send it back. They picked it up from the post office and lost it before finding it when I showed them the postal tracking. They told me they were fixing it but I said I wanted a refund as it had already been three weeks. Two weeks ago I was told "of course you will get a refund." I have not seen any money. These people are common thieves and should be avoided at all costs. The company should be shut down. Since sending them my bank details I cannot contact them. They won't answer the phone or e-mails.
I ordered a laptop the Easter weekend gone (2020), believing that it would be sent within the 2 days as advertised and that it was new as it didn't state refurbished on their site. They also stated that any issues they'd contact you, after over a week of not hearing I contacted them to be told they were waiting on parts and it would be a little longer. Several weeks later I received confirmation that the order was being dispatched. When I received it a couple of days later the condition of the machine was questionable and disappointing and the processor I requested had been substituted with another brand without any consultation with me. I returned it immediately after contacting the company and telling them my disappointment and anger. Today I received a call from the company and the person I spoke to called me a moron and hung up on me, this is unprofessional customer service and not a company that I recommend to anyone.
They sent a laptop charger that had a crack
In the casing (from overheating) and the cable had a cut with wires exposed and fraying. We asked for a replacement. At first he said yes and implied he'd send one on (date). We waited for it to arrive but never did, so we asked for a tracking number. Then he changes his story and says there is nothing wrong with using it like that, that it is normal for a charger to be like this. We continued pressing and he was very rude and arrogant. Making excuses why he couldn't talk etc. Finally he agreed to send after we sent this one back, so we'd be without a charger until he received this one and then sent one back. Finally he agreed to send it with proof we sent our current one back, which we provided. We received the replacement one today and now I know why he refused to send it without sending ours back. Out of arrogance he's sent the worst charger you could imagine. It's like he dragged it behind his car on the road, how anyone could think it was acceptable to sell such a product is beyond me. It's filthy, unbelievably scratched, the wires are loose and pulling out from the charger point. The computer is required to have a 45w charger. He sent a 60w. Clearly not a mistake a "computer guru" would make, purely done with the intention to destroy the battery and computer. He should not be allowed to operate under Australia's consumer protection law, poor products, faulty products, suspicious warranty. It won't be long before his products cause a house fire or electrical burn.
They sent the wrong machine (which was also damaged and not working). They only responded after consistant threats of legal action via no less than three channels of communication. They (Don) was very rude and entirely unhelpful and tried repeatedly to make it out to be my fault. I sent it back for a refund and eventually got it but only after a months worth of BS. Avoid this place like the plague. I have complained to ACCC... I suggest you do the same.
Yes, the laptop my son received was not the unit we ordered and it did indeed arrive damaged. I was very anxious about bring "burned" yet again by an online trader - especially after reading some of these reviews and I may have sent them some alarmist emails. It took a few days for Don to get back to me about a resolution but eventually we sorted out our differences and the laptop has been returned to them (reply paid) and I expect a full refund in the coming month.
It was unfortunate our machine had issues but once Don was on the case, all the problems were resolved. Yes, he can be a little abrupt but he is no doubt a busy man and I thank him for his patients and understanding in helping me resolve this issue. At this stage I can continue to recommend Laptops.com.au - but I think patients on the part of the buyer is key here. Flying off the handle will not solve the problem. - thanks again Don...
Before you proceed, please search on whirlpool.net.au for "laptop.com.au" and save yourself a lot of potential headache. This person "Don", whom I had the misfortunate with correspond with, is every bit as rude and thuggish as others have described.
Long story short. I received a laptop that was not as described. I requested a refund and even offered to bring it down to their shop in Springvale. Should be a simple matter with almost any other retailer worth their name, but nooo. This "Don" person not only flat out refused to give me a refund which is my right under the consumer law, he was extremely rude with the language he used.
Well, obviously he had no case under the law, and I ended up getting my money back from the credit card company, but they dragged out the whole thing and made me wait 5 long months.
I can't understand how these guys can still be in business while treating their customers in such a shoddy manner.
My wife is upset with her laptop and the "service" received when trying to address the issues with it. Having read her emails I can see why
I read a lot of the reviews here before purchasing. I am unsure why there were some negative reviews.
I dealt with Don and he was very responsive and knowledgeable. He was kind to explain in detail a laptop that suit my business needs and helped with other research.
The laptop delivery itself was prompt and couldn't be happier with the quality of service rendered.
I highly recommend

Recently brought a laptop from Laptop.com.au
Couldn't believe the cheap price and ongoing support.
I would highly recommend this business.
Great range, quick and efficient service.
Bought a charger from them and was dispatched in the day. However when I went to return it - I had to ask them 3 times over a month for a refund. When it was eventually processed, they charged me $10 for putting it back on the shelf...'restocking fee'.
I paid for a laptop from the site 3 days ago now and was asked to complete the verification i did so and my order was changed to disptached i was then told i would get a tacking number that same day it i have sent 2 emails and both have not got replys and i still do not have a tracking number
They didn't want my business so I took it elsewhere! It doesn't cost anything to be polite to your online shoppers!
Unhelpful would be a compliment for these people, repair issues arose shortly after purchase. Save your money and go with a more reputable company who cares about looking after customers.
Answer: Hi Tommy. We very rarely have any issues with our ex-demo range and we find they are just as reliable as our brand new range. However, they are still laptops so it is always possible and yes on occasion there are issues. If there is an issue advised on arrival you have the option of a replacement or refund (your choice) and return shipping is arranged at our cost. If an issue later in the 1 year warranty period then the laptop is repaired or replaced under warranty.
