We have been customers with this company for about 15 years.
Unfortunately our domain was tied to an account that was closed and we lost the domain because IONOS does not have options to protect the customer when billing issues arise.
We were told that our domain was in a redemption status and that the fee to get it out was over 100.00. They lied and said the extortion fees were created by ICAAN and that they had nothing to do with it. This is patently false. IONOS refuses to negotiate the punitive fees which are essentially blackmailing us.
We have moved to another registrar and will never do business with this one again.
I had previously used IONOS to purchase a Domain Name. That went ok. I'd give them 2.5 Stars on that. I got a call from one of their telemarketers offering a free trial for a web site builder with the option of canceling within 30 days at no charge. They said that there was simply a link that I could click on to cancel. Well, there wasn't one that I could find. So, multiple times I had to deal with their Cancelation department and Billing department to try and get this cancelled. I have spent hours trying to get it right. I also had to dispute their charges on my credit card (automatic billing) and even change my credit card number to prevent. As I am typing this, I am still on the phone, again trying to get this resolved.
This company is absolutely abhorrent. DO NOT HOST YOUR DOMAIN OR E-MAIL THROUGH THEM. They are cheap; but you get what you pay for. You risk E-mails not being received by recipients. Their E-mail domain regularly gets blacklisted. Their customer service will not take responsibility for anything. They take days to respond to inquiries. They also knowingly provide false information just to try to get you to spend more money on their company. If you value your business and your personal domain/E-mail, DO NOT use this company.
Deceptive pricing & poor support. Initially cost about half as much as competitors, ended up paying 3x as much as better web host services. Their support "team" also doesn't know how to properly communicate via phone or email. Definitely would NOT recommend.
I just paid 1$ for a domain at ionos.com and they charged 10$ for two years, as for first year it was 1$ and moreover they will charge 9$ per year. I was happy with that because i got the domain for two years, but after a month they sent me another invoice asking for more 10$. I was extremely disappointed with their customer support and behavior of their agents. They said that the first 10$ was just a test payment and we returned that to your bank but i didn't received that. And they were lying. When i asked for a proof of payment refund they refused to give me any proof.
So ionos.com is fraud and they charge their customers with fraudulent methods. Please stay away from that.

Here is what happened to me.
I signed up with them on 23 Dec 2021 and shifted my domain with them
They offered me some services with a 30 days money back guarantee.
I subscribed to their services and then canceled well before 30 days, ie 3rd of Jan 2022.
BUT even after CANCELING they CHARGED MY CREDIT CARD with USD 90.00
When I tried to call them on their support numbers, there were some machine and human mix voices, who put me on hold every time and I had to hang up after waiting for a long time i. E. 10, 20, 30, 55 minutes. I did Good THING and after they charged my credit card, I called my bank and warned my bank for this fishy website business company and asked them to put a check on my credit card. Finally, one final time when I called and waited enough to catch one guy named THEO told me he is forwarding this case to the security team since my account is locked and they cant do anything.
So I told this THEO guy that I want three things to be done in 72 HOURS, pls put this note with my support ticket. 1. I want my money back USD 902. I want my Credit Card details deleted from IONOS.com3. I want my account to be canceled from IONOS since I DONT WANT THEIR SERVICE ANYMORE.
I will also send these three points in the email a couple of times to record this for my documentation.
Then after 72 HOURS, I will pass all these documentation, emails, call recordings (yes I have recordings for the last two calls) to a lawyer in the USA and file a lawsuit against them.
Shocking customer service I forgot I had a domain with this company and they set the domain... Without telling me... To auto renew... Then sent my details to a debt collection agency demanding £27 off me for the domain I forgot about... My credit score dived... Shocking

Very poor business practices who lie about their contracted services in order to get business. Spoke to one of their sales people on the phone who sold a monthly contract. Specifically asked if it could be cancelled at any time and was told that it could. When i tried to cancel because it was a poor service, was told that it had to be paid for for a year. Avoid, there are better companies out there.
I was ripped off by this company charged 3 times for 3 years I didn't even realise when I questioned them the said I had a contract and wasn't entitled to a refund
Not capable of providing a service. I cancelled in May and I still have problems with these idiots. Stealing from me, illegal account that was not opened by me and not capable of transferring my domain.

I took a free of charge. co.uk domain for one year from these scammers. They then tried to take money even though the domain was transferred to another registrar within the free one year. £12 became £27 as they passed the fictitious debt to another dodgy company called Arvato for collection. They have been doing this for years and need to be exposed. Nasty bunch of fraudsters!
Horrible! Had my domain with them. I took a look at four packages to build the website with them and chose one because the price was OK and disregarded the other 3.
In October and November they charged me for the 3 I didn't use.
I have been calling and sending emails now they are ignoring my emails and havent refunded me when it is evident that I never used the services just tried out for a few hours. I had to open a complaint with the BBB and dispute with my bank.
1st of all, They waste my time money and do nothing. This company does not have clarity in sending invoices, as I can see amounts are deducted without my consent, and they also give promises to solve problems and technical problems are not solved. I have called them over the past four days, almost every day, for more than an hour, an international phone call, because of technical problem related to the internal system in this company but nothing resolved. I do not advise anyone to deal with this company
If you looking for reliable hosting choose IONOS and Thank me later! The speed is fast, the 24/7 service is real, they will call you back If you need assistance within minutes and they always solve all the issues, have this service for years and I didn't have a problem at all.
This without any doubt the worst company for anything regarding domains, made the mistake of falling for a cheap offer they made and forgot to review them online before i did. I would have spent more money to buy the domain with another company than have to deal with the arrogance and stupidity of dealing with 1and1.com, they are so bad at everything they do, they had to change their name to hide all the BAD customer reviews, but they are still the same crap useless company they were before NOTHING has changed. Worst company EVER. Don't make the mistake of fall for their cheap rubbish deals, their customer service sucks!

(BEWARE) Don't hesitate to file a complaint against 1 and 1 to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). Under the for Unfair, Deceptive or Abusive Acts and Practices (UDAAP).
My opportunity to renew the domain promptly due to the confusing 1 and 1 massive flooding of Marketing/Junk/Advertising emails sent to my billing email box; made it extremely challenging to distinguish essential billing emails from junk. An influx of marketing email from 1and1, definitely hindered my ability to made payment; due to new card had been issued with an updated expiration date.
After all, was said and done the wanted to pay a whole lot more to reinstate the domain and they then ridiculously hiked the price of the domain up so high that I let it go and now the domain is bidding for $ thousands of dollars higher online.
Should any of you experience this please file a complaint with the CPFB with the UDAAP in mind.
I had already asked them Countless times prior, to stop the advertising/ marketing email from them precisely because I was getting confused and they failed to do just that, and the results ended up with me losing a domain I had for nearly two decades. They blamed the mishap stating it was my fault anyway. I felt the deception of bait and switch for a higher rate. So please, if you experience this please file a complaint through the proper channels. Understand the UDAAP laws.
They're silly cheap, how can that be? Simple, they're fraudsters.
Their password didn't work. Their automated password change service didn't fix the issue. I've never been able to login to the account I paid for.
Can't log a support ticket, because you guessed it, their password doesn't allow a login.
So you can email their support to resolve this issue, right? Wrong. Their support staff won't talk about your account unless you're using the email registered with them. I use aliases, and don't have this issue with ANY other company.
So you can at least sort it out over the phone, right? Eventually, if you have lots of time and patience on your hands. So their customer disservice has been offshored to the Philippines. Their staff hang up on you when you ask to speak with a supervisor. They won't talk about your account until you provide the pin they provided, except they dont recognise their own pin either! Eventually I asked to speak with sales and managed to get a refund. There's a reason their prices are so low. I know tech folk who have used their services, and they attest to an intolerable customer disservice level.
Answer: Scam! Theyll charge you randomly without your consent.
