Money scam!
June 8, 2023

This company is horrible to work with. They take full advantage of clients, charging fees with NO COST BREAKDOWN or justification. It's a money scam and they use "state requirements" as their "justification". So the state wants you to take additional money with no explanation from paying customers? Great business model. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

This is ABSOLUTELY the WORST business. I cant believe that they are still operating, CLASS ACTION SUIT every heard of it? I was lied to when signing, I have to have this device for 5 years and I was looking for a good deal when shopping around. I should have done more homework because this place is a leach of the worst kind. I was told that I was going to pay Around $100 per month, all fees and costs included. I am completely blind sighted each billing cycle with fees that I was not told about. The lease is confusing when talking to their reps (if I can get them on the phone) they give information that twists the plot even more. Some law firm should look into this place and cash in on a class action because this business is fraudulent. DON"T, FOR THE LIFE OF YOU, DON"T SIGN UP! Save your money.

I got charged a lock out fee twice and I was not in the inside the car! I turn off the car and went around the car grab my lunch bag and gear out side of the car went inside my job clocked in at 10:58pm and Intoxalock said I missed two retest after 11:01pm. I had to pay an extra $79 cause I missed a retest. Customer service was no help all the man wanted to know if I was with what credit card was going to pay. Unbelievable! How is this even legal?

They Lie to You
December 6, 2022

Please stay away from this company at all costs. I have been waiting 30 days for a document that I need to send to my state so I can drive again. I call customer service and you go to agents in a foreign country who have nothing but canned responses. I have spoken to them, and their answer is you will have the document in 24 to 48 hours. You wait two days, and nothing comes you call the next day they say the document takes 3 to 5 business days and they are working on it, and you are in the que, and they can only work in the order they come in on. If you are lucky and you get them to transfer, you to the USA to a specialist and those people say, "I have escalated this, and you will have the document within the next two hours" and noting ever comes. I have been doing this dance for weeks now and there seems to be no way I can get a one-page document that takes 2 minutes to manually fill out. I can't drive or work until I get this document to my DMV. They basically just lie to you to get you off the phone. If you look at the feedback on "Glass Door" you will see that the employees themselves, say they just lie to customers to get them off the phone because they are so disorganized and they are paid incentives to have the shortest calls. Basically, have had the device on a car I can't drive now for 45 days and counting waiting for a one-page document to mail to the DMV to get my limited drivers license and go back to work. This company is ruining lives and should be ashamed of themselves.

From…
I've only been hung up twice from intoxalock today...
Very professional company. They can lose data, charge criminal fees and tell lies from one agent to another.
Currently paying for a lockout for an unauthorized start. I literally admitted I do it weekly and she says they have no data for it. Why would I admit that? How doesn't that show direct evidence intoxalock is failing.

Not to mention the added car fees this unit provides to your car. We are talking new battery every max 10 months. Starters go out much faster.

The units themselves are all inconsistent. I live in mn and one can stop working in 40 degrees and one will work all winter long. I just blew into my unit before being hung up on and all I did was blow twice. It's pretty sickening to have to call in sick once every 3 month cycle just to figure out what is wrong with the device now, or what problems the device is leaving my car.
Not to mention sometimes you need to blow 5 times just for it to actually process. Never do automatic payments because the only way to get in contact with someone is to pay 111 million dollars and then they want your card info.
When you are all we have and the only people we can go to, it would be nice to be able to rely on the company. Not be terrified about what will be next.
Not to mention they deleted my last review.

Horrible experiences overall with Intoxalock - the installer damaged my car to install the unit, which I had to file a claim on. Filing the claim was a nightmare because I called 4 or 5 times and they never emailed me the form they kept saying I needed to fill out as part of the process. I was finally able to get the form when I insisted on talking to a supervisor, which took 15-20 minutes on hold to speak to, and then I had to wait for the supervisor to dig up information and process the call for another 20 minutes. Later, my Intoxalock device said it was not calibrated on time and wouldn't let me start my car, this was on December 26th. My account and emails about the service said the calibration was due December 27th, so there must have been a misalignment between the devices internal calibration due date and my account's calibration due date.

A have had a miserable experience with this company and cannot recommend them to anyone.

0 stars. Charged for exceptional fee's when deliberately unagreeded too. Only told reviewed for credit towards account. If I wasn't still on lease. Credit wouldn't reimburse. If it was my last term I wouldn't get money back. At least least Smart Star and Life Saver wouldn't have lost me so much money. Still fighting withe Intoxalock. Good luck on speaking to a human.
Picture below displays a biweekly payment after a $37.50 USD credit towards amount. (Would have owed more). Never agreed to protection plan, but charged. Was not informed of rental or charge of hand held cover (Hand Held Koozie) which was mailed and charged to me (would have declined if notified). And left stagnet with no longer able to use extension number to previous contacts to human beings. Stuck with automated messaging systems. I recommend a different company.
Thank you, regards Intoxalock customer.

I have yet to find an interlock device company worth starting a service. I Really wouldn't trust this company. They seem legit but are really good about being vague or avoiding you/long wait times and fail to send reports you need as your waiting, even after just getting off the phone with them. I've been hung up on 3 times for what I perceive as asking too many questions, or because I called the party number of a representative who gave it to me and im guessing she was bothered I used it to contact her for help. After that phone call, she never answered my phone again. I called from my dads phone, she answered within a couple rings, realized it was me. She did help me, then never answered her phone off my dads number again.
There may be a misconception that service is bad because people are rude and mad they're being help responsible for drinking and driving. I bet its really common. However, there's a lot of people, who are truly doing better and fixing their mistakes, yet this company takes advantages of peoples situation. In my experience, even more so because I was polite and maybe a bit of a push over. Document every thing, ask them about every possible and recurring charge you'd be obligated to pay. Flip this company.

***STAY AWAY*** Customer service is terrible. I strongly regret selecting this company and feel stuck because of the court order. If I had known, I would have never done business with these people. For almost a year, right after device was placed in car, my car battery began to die up to 4 times a day. I called numerous times to report to call center and to service center. Advise provided did not correct issue. Finally 11 months later after dealing with this daily nightmare, I was given correct diagnosis by a different service provider but am now being charged for a "lock out" fee by Intoxalock. I called to ask why I had an additional $100 charge on my monthly bill and was told my car went into lock out when car toys was looking at it, but that it was still my fault and responsibility, despite my numerous requests for help in trying to resolve before that happened and despite the fact that it happened while car toys was working on it. I could not possibly be more disappointed in a company, the product, or the service provided. And the company itself seems to not care because they know their equipment is court ordered so the consumer is forced to continue to have device in car. Do yourself a favor and choose someone else. I wish anyone who took the time to read this the best of luck with another company.

On Jan 18th your device gave me two fails after forgetting that I had rinsed and brushed my tongue with Listerene(SP) I waited about 15 -20 min drank water and blew into the machine it gave me 2 fails and then gave me a pass but on my rolling retest about 5 min later it failed me...I spoke to a guy at intoxalock that day and spoke to a lady today@4:10pm Feb 15 and she called me a liar about starting my vehicle on Jan 18th which I told her I could get prove from the post office as I had to sign for a package...Now my state(MN) wants me to start my 3 yrs over... Who would like to sue this company with me for their equipment malfunctioning or for them calling us liars.
I am going to to put my full name because I am sick of this $#*!! If I didn't start my vehicle how did I make it a Perkins 50 miles away! Zero rating if I could give it.

I found out the hard way that I couldn't allow my vehicle to warm up in below zero weather without sitting inside of it. It locked me out. I paid a $75 fee to have it unlocked. My monthly bill of $108 for some reason was $129.99 after this happened. I contacted the billing department and they said the additional charges were due to a device lockout which I already paid $75 to have unlocked. I then looked through the application I installed on my phone as per their recommendations. I then later found that there were other hidden charges for roadside assistance.$5 here.$4 there for absolutely no reason whatsoever. This company is heavily abusing its customers financially and need to be held accountable. When I spoke with customer service they said they had no record of the $75 lockout fee to unlock my device, yet the transaction shows up clear as day on my app profile. The worst part of the whole situation as I was found not guilty on the DUI charge. The summary suspension went effective before my trial. So unfortunately I am waiting up on the state to release my driver's license so I can get this pile of garbage out of my car and stop being ripped off by these fraudulent business operators.

We just got it installed- beeped most of the way home. Next day, did the exact breathing and truck won't start now. Called the CS #- which by the way is INCORRECT ON THE DEVICE!?!- 1st lady barely spoke english, had no clue how to help us... called another # and she informed us that it's probably defective and that we'd need TO TOW THE TRUCK BACK TO THE SHOP WHERE IT WAS INSTALLED!? After she had me disconnect it simply by unscrewing it and waiting 20 seconds. Her first sentence to me was, don't worry I'll have it running within half hour... she said the message "try again and breathe harder" means it's probably defective. We have to pay for the tow and a new install and then " they'd reimburse us"!?! There has to be an alternative company that makes a similar device! Awful to put people through the stress. I will be contacting the state of MN to get answers ASAP.

Scam!
May 2, 2022

Avoid at all costs. READ YOUR COURT PAPERWORK CAREFULLY. I realized after they had spammed me with mail and I finally signed that they were not even an approved company by the Court.
They will nickle and dime you every chance they get, and are offended when you ask for an explanation as to what random $1-5 charges are for.
It is nearly impossible to speak with someone on the phone, and If you can reach someone expect to be interrupted and talked to rudely 99% of the time.
Last but not least, after your device is approved to be and legally removed, THEY WILL CONTINUE TO TRY TO CHARGE YOU FOR "ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE" AND MISSED CALIBRATIONS. THEY ARE SCAM ARTISTS PREYING ON PEOPLE AT THEIR LOW POINTS. AVOID!

This company completely sucks! Any good review you read is totally fake. This interlock has killed 2 of my car batteries, one BRAND NEW. The interlock will go off randomly WITHOUT beeping so you don't know to blow until your entire car alarm is going off. They say you have 2 minutes after you turn off the car, and you can start it without blowing. That put me in a lockout TWICE! $75! Because I started my car with 20+ seconds left on the timer. It messes with the whole car alarm I had a passenger that opened their door at the same exact time I started my car which caused my alarm to go off and would NOT stop when I blew. I MYSELF had to search up online how to fix it. They only send reminders for payments so that they're getting their money. When it's time for your lease to be up they don't send any reminders at all so you have to extend your lease and pay even more! WORST company and service I've ever received. I do not recommend this for anyone unless your rich and don't care about having problems.
