I use instacart one time and it was okay the second time it was a nightmare which was today Super Bowl day of all times! I told him I do not want Frozen Kroger brand waffles they were delivered. I called the second time on the same order and added something was never put in and you can tell the guy didn't even start shopping yet Trico the instacart is a thing of the past with me. Total incompetence
Not only are they charging you all kinds of fees and tips but they charge you more for your groceries than what they pay. My order today was a total of $271 dollars if you include the difference in what you pay for groceries I paid $80 to have my groceries delivered. They bury their disclaimer several pages down so unless you scrutinize the receipt, assuming you get one, you aren't going to know. I'm disabled and don't have a car. I have used their service for the last year because it's hard for me to get out and almost beyond my capability to carry the groceries into my house on my own. I live on less than 1400 dollars per month so every dollar counts. I feel like I've been raped by Instacart.
I've been sick the past week and don't want to spread my flu germs around so I figured I'd give a delivery service a try for a few items. They offered free delivery within one hour so I decided to go for it. I also used a coupon code for $10 off of my first order. They did not apply the coupon despite me getting a pop up saying it was. I'm watching the tracker and the order was never shopped. The hour came and went and my status still said it was waiting to be shopped. I cancelled the order because I wanted to take a nap and didn't want to be asleep when they finally decided to deliver.
Made a comment on their Facebook page and it was answered by a shopper who rudely said "You probably didn't tip enough. Shoppers won't take orders that don't have big enough tips". Wow... tips are supposed to be for good service. There was a tip on the order however prefer to give my delivery people cash so I'm sure that the tip goes to the driver and not to the company... so if they would have actually shopped and delivered, there could have been a bigger tip in it. Instead, they got nothing and I won't use them again.
I loved this service as I am handicapped. The shoppers are polite and do an excellent job of choosing great produce and meats in addition to my other items. But today a new shopper brought my order and it included the register receipt from the retailer. I have never received one before and wow was I surprised. My order was $32.00 over the actual register receipt. I emailed the help center and they said that tha retailer chooses items that will cost more with Instacart, it's called a "pricing platform". I called the manager at my store. He said there is no such thing. The prices are the same in or out of the store. So with the amount of the receipt, the delivery charge, tip, and service charge my bill was $125.01. I was charged $157.20. They dont want you to see the register receipt cause they don't want you to know how much you are being ripped off.
I ordered my groceries Thursday and got a confirmation that I would receive them Friday at 8pm. Then I get a text Friday at 7h30pm saying there late and that I should receive it by 9h00-9h30pm. At 7h50pm they confirmed someone was shopping my order. Then at 10h21pm they confirmed a different person was shopping my order. They had to remove two items that were unavailable and replace two items with a substitute. At 10h53pm I get a text saying the driver is on the way by which I was already sleeping. I figured it's too late and the groceries would be delivered in the morning. At 11h08pm the delivery driver calls me saying they are at the door. To me this is completely unacceptable to deliver 3 hours late. They never told me I would get the groceries passed 11hpm. Completely unreliable and unacceptable. I went with instacart as I needed some things from Walmart. However, I will return to Metros delivery service as they are courteous and punctual!
Instacart Shoppers in general are not as professional as Shipt Shoppers. I can not understand why businesses use Instacart when Shipt give better customer service. My last two Instacart Deliveries have been deplorable, with one ruining my New Years Eve.
I don't recall dealing with a worse business. I ordered Christmas groceries for my brother. Instacart notified me they would be half an hour late. An hour past the supposed delivery with no groceries arriving time, I called them. They guaranteed they would deliver the items within 4 hours as they were having a shopper problem. Another five hours later, no groceries arrived. I called them again to be told there was no shopper available. There was no explanation as to why they didn't contact me with this information.
Instacart "marks up" the grocery prices that you order, even though they are already charging a delivery fee and driver tip, and you are tipping the driver out of pocket when they deliver.
Instacart also can never find something your ordered and needs to 'replace' it, and will 'replace' items ordered even when you check 'do not replace'.
I don't see how they can legally change the prices of groceries you have ordered from grocery store website.
I would not reccommend Instacart to anyone because of these reasons.
Ordered pop from Aldis in DeKalb, IL. Selected the option to not replace the item if out of stock. Wrote in the note to the shopper to not replace the item, and still, the shopper replaced the item. This store normally has amazing customer service. I am so surprised a company like Aldis would associate with instacart.
Don't use this app. They deliver wrong or damaged items and not refund your money.
Terrible customer service.
Arranged a delivery six days in advance in preparation for a vacation. The delivery was supposed to occur 1/12/20 between 8:00 pm and 9:00 pm. Received an email indicating that the delivery was delayed to 9:30 pm. At 9:30, contacted Instacart customer service who said the delivery was being further delayed to 10:30 pm. The representative offered the reason being a problem with Publix and they didn't have enough staff. At 10:30 pm, contacted Instacart again. The representative apologized and said they didn't have enough shoppers to meet the demand and offered to cancel the order or have the order delivered the next day. He provided an 8 hour delivery window. Obviously, we won't be wasting 8 hours of a precious vacation to wait on a grocery delivery.
We opted to cancel the order and will be carefully monitoring my account to ensure the refund.
Also, please note that Instacart uses a call center, likely in India.
Buyer beware.
I've ordered from krogers for delivery multiple times. Mostly for delivery to my home. Ocassionally for delivery to my 94 year old mother. They seem to have no problems with my deliveries, but twice now, they screwed up for my mom's stuff. The first time, she never got the groceries. When I called instacart, I was told they were delivered. But they weren't. You can't talk to anyone at krogers where the groceries came from, nor can you talk with the person who supposedly delivered. Instead, you are talking with someone from instacart, and I have no idea what state or city or they are in. That time, they did end up refunded my money, but it took 4 days. Today, I ordered groceries from krogers for my mother again. After I placed the order, I remembered, I forgot to tell them something about the delivery. I called instacart and got a very nice lady. I told her my mom didn't know the groceries were coming and she is hard of hearing. They needed to go to the back door and knock loudly. And I wanted to be called when they were delivered. She told me they had a huge power outage (where, I don't know) but my groceries were being shopped for as we spoke. Several hours later, I called again because my mom didn't get them. This time I was told again they have this huge power outage and they don't know what happened. A few minutes later, they told me the order was cancelled. I didn't cancel it. They "think" it was cancelled on their end because of the outage, but no one bothered to call or email that it was cancelled. They also had no record of my earlier call. They offered to reorder the food, but then said because I ordered thru krogers, they couldn't access the information. Then why bother to tell me yr are going to put the order thru again? I have shopped at krogers for 30 some years. But if they are going to move into the 21st century and use current technology to make things easier, then they need to handle it themselves and not farm it out to this instacart thing that does nothing but screw things up. I am tempted to forego krogers altogether now because of these two problems. Om is 94 and lives by herself. I need to be able to count on getting groceries to her when I order them.
Huge mistake. Told would arrive between 11 & 12. Then told delayed an hour. Still no response. Zero communication. Will never use this service again. Still waiting for a response on my delivery
I was sick and couldn't go out, so I hired IC to get me a few items from a store that is 3 minutes from my house. I received the wrong items. They bought more than I ordered, and I was charged for things I didn't buy. I was charged $3 for cans of soup that were $1 in the store. Yup, I was charged 300% of the items' actual prices -- on top of all of their other charges. Attempts to communicate with the IC shopper were ignored, likely because he did not understand English very well. When I attempted to complain, I got a lot of extremely phony and condescending emails asking me to jump through all kinds of hoops obviously designed to put me off. That a total SCAM company like this can even remain in business shows what low status the consumer now has in this country. Don't support these horrible people. Pay a kid in your neighborhood to do the shopping for you.
I wish I had read Jennifer K. Review below before we put our trust in #instacart and #safeway to deliver. We are in Colorado and basically had the same experience.
They just don't deliver. I don't mind them not showing up but why take our money and waste our time.
Very disappointed that a good firm like Safeway #*******@safeway affiliates with this type of fly by night organization.
Simple message... stay away.
I'd give Instacart a zero-star review if I could! After a friend highly recommended their service, I decided to try it for the very first time in Oldsmar, Florida (suburb of Tampa) when my family and I were traveling there on vacation and staying in a condo with a kitchen. Our flight was scheduled to arrive in mid-evening, so I thought it would be a great idea to have the week's groceries delivered that same evening so we'd have dinner ingredients pretty much right when we got there and breakfast ingredients for the next morning. When our plane landed, I received a text that the delivery would be delayed by an hour, which I was a bit disappointed about, but figured we would still be ok. The thing is THE GROCERIES NEVER SHOWED UP THAT NIGHT, and I had to reach out to Instacart because they never sent any more correspondence that evening even when the delivery was well past the scheduled arrival time. We ended up ordering a pizza to tide us over, setting us back an unanticipated $35. I reached out to Instacart, who said they'd deliver the order by noon the next morning, so we rearranged our entire next day to accommodate... and by 12:30pm WE STILL HAD NO GROCERIES. Finally I called and cancelled the entire order, we went out for lunch (because my family was starving! Spent another unanticipated $55!), and I wasted yet another 1.5 hours of our trip grocery shopping. ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS!
Instacart Delivery to Office - FAILED!
I placed a delivery to my office from BJ's via Instacart. Since the driver could not locate my building, which is clearly marked, he returned my order to BJ's and then Instart had the nerve and gall to charge ME a cancellation fee of $15. Unbelievable! Never again will I be ordering from Instacart!
Our deliverer made the mistake of giving us the real receipt for the food we ordered through instacart. We were being upcharged 70 dollars for a 200 dollar bill, PLUS the service charge PLUS the tip. This site is a scam. Don't be fooled like we were. Came to 304 dollars by the way. You know what... I think I'll pick up my own groceries from now on.
Oh, and the upcharge for the groceries is in the fine print, so you have no legal recourse.
Ordered.
They held the possible amount.
Receipt reflected $90 less.
Called InstaCart.
They REFUSE to refund the difference.
Blamed it on the merchant.
Top it off, the "get $15 off your order instantly" is a lie. You have to catch it, then call them to honor their discount.
This is corporate prey.
They ask for your phone number but don't use it. I ordered 10 of one item and they sent me 10 of another. I filed a complaint on their site but got ignored. Now I have $50 worth of groceries I do not want. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE!
Answer: Instacart does not give you the sale prices from the store. So if the peanut butter is 3.50 on sale. Instacart will charge you 4.80 regular price. Their prices are all over the board but on average you are paying 20% more.
Answer: You can't! The only way I got a response from them was when they emailed me to rate my driver and I gave a bad review for her and Instacart. I got an email back. Otherwise, there is no Customer Service! I tried everything under the "Help" section and got nowhere!
Answer: Seriously? They have already scientifically proven that is not spread that way. How many strangers & kids and semi drivers and warehouse people touch your stuff before it even leaves the store.
Answer: No, they don't by policy. But I've found they don't deliver anything else either. Last two orders were cancelled. I dumped my account and told them to keep the gift card balance. Done with InstaCart.
