Instacart has a rating of 1.2 stars from 2,491 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Instacart most frequently mention customer service, credit card and grocery store. Instacart ranks 123rd among Grocery Delivery sites.
They will automatically charge you credit card, a lot of people were charged for items they never even received, I wish I looked at the reviews before making a purchase, I would recommend staying away from them, their customer service is the worst. You will never ever get a response from them.
My first order with instacart, was a small "test" order, and it went well, and left me feeling like someone had mastered shop & drop, and turned it into a big business.
My second order was a minor train wreck, but survivable, if one has the time and patience to connect on the phone with customer service, and spend a few hours getting things straightened out.
My third order was a complete disaster, and what did finally, after 19 hours, get shopped and dropped, never appeared at my door, until 5:30 AM the next day, in a neighbor's arm's, as she told me when she opened her door, to leave for work, it was sitting there. Of course all the refrigerated and frozen goods had ruined. It was then I said I'd never do instacart again. But instacart had refunded my money, and gave me a $20 credit to my account, plus one free delivery.
A month went by, BTW I am disabled, and can not physically go to the stores myself, and this day I thought a frozen pizza would be nice, so I thought I would give instacart a chance to redeem itself, and I used the $20 credit, to order 4 Jack's frozen pizzas. Of course I added a couple loaves of bread, some potatoes, and cleaning supplies.
Well low and behold - I GOT SCREWED! AGAIN! It's obvious I'm not getting my money back this time, That $20 credit and a free delivery was obviously a set-up and I took the bait! Let me leave you with this warning - instacart is fantastic for your first order, but don't let them sucker you in. It is the only time you will be giving them 5 stars, from then on out, you're screwed! And instacart will play you to the MAX! Keep your money, and your financial information. Don't be the fool I was!
Impossible to talk on the phone to Instacart, always a 3+ hour wait and then the call disconnects! Similarly, online "chat" is equally unresponsive. Trying these communication modes because they double shipped the same order and therefore we paid twice!
The shoppers have all be great and most appreciated.
I get it! This is a company overwhelmed at the moment and equally unprepared.
I waited a week and paid extra delivery charge to get toilet paper. Then, hours before scheduled delivery, was asked by text if napkins would be an acceptable alternative. I wouldn't wipe my $#*! with this delivery service again.
I guess they don't deliver to my city. I wish "they" would say that upfront. After I've spent hours shopping I get "no deliver options!" What the heck? Why not tell me that before I start shopping? Need to find a better shopping program.
Well, gave in to pressure from my family to not go to the grocery store and it has NOT been a good experience. Ordered quite a lot from Costco, expensive olive oil, cheeses, etc. They delivered someone else's order and of course you can't contact the actual driver. Gave a bad review on their website and indicated all the items that I did not get. Also started a live chat, which is a joke because it's been 4 hours and I still have not gotten a response. Got the typical automated email response from the reported problem and and have not heard back from that either. Tried calling and the message I got was that they are not answering calls! Guess I'll have to contact my credit card company and have them dispute the charge. I guess the good news is that somebody got a really great deal on a bunch of expensive food when they received my order!
I ordered 27 items from Costco. Costco uses Instacart for delivery. I did not know this as I ordered through the Costco web site. I was ripped off and Costco customer support told me its not their problem. Really?
I waited for one week for my order of 27 items to arrive. What I got made my eyes drop out of my head.
I received 3 items in the box and nothing like what I ordered. They charged me 330 dollars, including 15 dollars tip for wonderful service. My receipt is attached. They (Instacart under the cover of Costco) claim that I received most of what I ordered. Sounds pretty good. However, this is what I actually got. See the photos of the delivered items.
9 dozen eggs (I did not order nine dozen eggs - who needs 9 dozen eggs?)
3 lbs bananas (I did not order bananas)
I carton whole milk (I ordered to cartons of lactose-free milk.)
This is pretty amazing for 330 dollars including 15 dollars tip. I wonder how much of a tip I would need to pay if my order was actually fulfilled.
I hope Instacart goes bankrupt, I really do. There is no excuse for this sort of thing. You can't mess up an order this badly without malicious intent. I hope Costco takes responsibility for their use of third party losers (Instacart) to make their deliveries.
Epilog: I was so pissed off with the delivery that I jumped into my car and drove to the nearest Costco. I was expecting to see empty shelves. Instead, I found all the items I ordered and did not receive. I was shocked by how easy it was to buy all the items I was looking for. Lesson learned.
I've "tried' to use instacart during this virus epidemic to keep my family safe. First time they delivered
To wrong address and told me tough. Fortunately, I found the address and was able to get the order.
Second time, they only delivered 1/2 the order yet charged me for the full order and will not respond or
Reply. I've forwarded case to Police and Sheriff's Office for prosecution. This is fraud by means of interstate
Commerce folks. A federal felony.
The delivery man accidentally gave me the Publix store receipt for my grocery delivery. The groceries came to alittle over $96. When i received my invoice from instacart, they charged me over $108 I called Publix and their employee told me that this company adds fees to the normal publix prices. What you think you are paying for is going to be totally different when you get your bill from instacart. I am cancelling my membership and will never use this company again.
Instacart is terrible. They treat their shoppers like dirt. They deactivate their shoppers for the mistakes instacart has made. Without the shoppers, they'd be out of business. I highly recommend staying away from this company.
They make it seem like they deliver in your area. You have to sign up 1st and pay a fee. I've wasted time adding things to various carts in 2 different locations but while they claim they have delivery time slots available I have yet to be able to schedule one in 2 WEEKS. No CUSTOMER SERVICE. NO ONE RESPONDS. They should be investigated, imagine how many people are signing up that they are collecting fees from but not able to deliver service. SHAM!
I know it's a busy time, but what does it take to get an order correct? On 2 separate occasions (2 different stores) I was charged for items I did not get. In one case it was over $25, and it has been 5 days since I reported the problem. You pay a service fee, a tip, premium prices, and get a headache in return. What a deal?!?!?!
They rescheduled out order leaving us to wait for 10 more days. Then on the day items were due for pick up, they cancel. Reportedly the merchant cancels. This is a bull$#*! service!
Ordered groceries and even received a text saying they were delivered. Was charged and did not receive any
Groceries. They will not even take any calls and don't respond to emails I sent regarding problem. Where's the money and food going?
Ordered groceries from the local store. Instacart posted the groceries were delivered. Nothing at my door. Tried to contact Instacart. Could not get anyone to talk with. I am now out the price of a week's groceries and had to purchase them again in person. 0 rating is not allowed.
This happened to us with Instacart and our Costco order - delivery promised yesterday, message received advising order had been delivered, credit card charged yet nothing has been delivered. I've texted, phoned, even direct messaged on Twitter and all we've received are automated responses from Instacart advising that they're very busy these days. I'll be stopping payment on my credit card and never using Instacart again.
I agree to the 5 day wait for my grocery's during Covid. But when they said by Friday evening and 5:30 came I was not happy. At 6:30 my shopper started and was not good about showing me other options when I asked, got an item that is not the same as what's listed ( same brand not right item) and mass confusion with refunding, replacing. All around an inconvenient, time consuming event because I had to sit there with my phone for nearly the entire shopping to chat w I th the shopper for most items. My groceries were not there until 7:30 pm
My Costco order was to have been delivered on a Wednesday morning. My husband and I were both home waiting. I get a text the delivery was made at 10:53 am, but we never received anything and then they put the charge on my credit card! I texted back the delivery person, no response. I texted Instacart at least six times and just got automated responses that they were busy would respond when they could. I emailed them and got same response. I tried calling and got recording that said the hold time would be two hours! After two days with no reply I contacted my credit card company to remove the charge. This company is either crooked or hopelessly incompetent.
During Covid 19 and have autoimmune disorders I was fearful of shopping. Thanks to Instacart I placed my order online thru the app Thursday evening. My order arrived perfectly by 6pm Friday. Thank you Lisa from Coldwater for shopping for me and delivering my item right to my door. I was immediately refunded for a couple items that weren't in stock and my grapefruit they were out of were replaced with oranges. Perfect. I'll be using this app often.
Bless you all for what your doing, stay safe out there.
Where do I begin?! DO NOT USE INSTACART!
I 100 PERCENT retract my amazing review of insta cart delivery!
We placed our second order Wednesday and then we later placed $44 in add ons to that order, no issue.
We had our groceries delivered today no problem! 30 min later another delivery driver dropped off our original order without the "adds ons." I told him we already received our order. He told me to just keep them and figure it out.
So I looked on our credit card transactions and we were charged for both orders when we only placed the order once. AND then there was a random $160 charge on there for nothing!
I called price chopper they told me they had nothing to do with it that we had to contact Insta Cart.
I called them and was on hold for 3 HOURS and 18 min! I finally got to talk to someone and he basically told me after arguing with him that I placed the order twice (which I didn't obviously) he told me there was 1 min between the orders. Obviously, I didn't have time to go back and reorder everything and send it again in 1 min, and I don't need double milk, bananas, cheese etc... he put me on hold came back to tell me he couldn't refund it, and asked if I received the groceries? I said yes, but I don't want them! I'll gladly return them!
I informed him I'm not paying $110 for a double order I didn't order, that's not my fault, and a glitch on your end!
He put me on hold again, because he said "this is a difference of opinion, and he didn't know what to do" then 15 min later on hold I was hung up on and then sent a text from a number I am unable to respond to that says "we have given you a refund as a one time courtesy. It will be credited to your account within 3-5 days." didn't tell me what was being refunded! Was it the $110 double charge, was it the $160 random charge! He could of easily came back on the line and told me that, but no he was tired of dealing with me! And he hung up!
So I get on the website to send an email about how unacceptable this was and when you go to "report a problem" it takes you back to the top of the page same with the email link. So I've ended up finding an email and emailing them!
So use them at your own risk! Our first order was great, but this is becoming a headache and I'd rather of risked getting the corona virus and going to the store then having to deal with this $270 issue! I've wasted over 4 hours on the phone today dealing with this and it still isn't resolved!
Answer: Instacart does not give you the sale prices from the store. So if the peanut butter is 3.50 on sale. Instacart will charge you 4.80 regular price. Their prices are all over the board but on average you are paying 20% more.
Answer: You can't! The only way I got a response from them was when they emailed me to rate my driver and I gave a bad review for her and Instacart. I got an email back. Otherwise, there is no Customer Service! I tried everything under the "Help" section and got nowhere!
Answer: Seriously? They have already scientifically proven that is not spread that way. How many strangers & kids and semi drivers and warehouse people touch your stuff before it even leaves the store.
Answer: No, they don't by policy. But I've found they don't deliver anything else either. Last two orders were cancelled. I dumped my account and told them to keep the gift card balance. Done with InstaCart.
