I got prompted to upgrade to a plus membership at the checkout window. Click to upgrade and get the Apple Pay screen stating my membership fee of $9.99 a month would be taken out of my account. I proceed and finish my order only to notice that they charged me for A FULL YEAR (which is an over $100 charge). They claim they can't help because I purchased an order on the membership and refused to take accountability for the pay wall screen mistake.
I will not be renewing my service with them. Inexcusable that a company of their size wouldn't work to accommodate someone who has been using their service for over a year consistently.
Other than that, do expect to pay a good $15 or more over your order total even after purchasing a membership.
I've had to use Instacart for 2 years since my husband had a stroke. He can't shop anymore and I'm disabled. I pay for plus too. For a while when they screwed up,, they'd process refunds. Lately, after getting incorrect orders and rotten produce, they are telling me that I've lodged too many complaints and there's a cap on refunds which was never brought to my attention. I'm furious and disappointed especially since there are no other grocery delivery services..
So I saw a charge for 9.99 for instacart. I cancelled this service months ago, I called and they said that the account I called about hasn't been used since 2022. They are still charging me even though I cancelled my subscription. They inform me I had 3 accounts which I don't. They cancelled my account as of today and refunded me for this month, but refused to cancel any other months.
The customer service working (as I say that title as a joke) instead of helping me get a refund basically was blaming me.
This company is a joke so they have stolen 240.00 from me.
If you return anything, you wont get your full amount and will have to deal with all of the hidden fees
The customer is trash they lie and tell you that they can help you, but do not honor their word. I was refused a refund and when I asked to speak to a supervisor I was hung up on. Never again will I use instacart. If I can give a less than a one star I would beware use instacart at your own risk!. You have been warned!
Awful experience! They can cancel on you at any time after an order is placed. If you accidentally place an order at the wrong pick up location, they will not let you change the location, even if you just placed the order minutes ago. I will not ever use Instacart again.

On thing is clear: Instacart is not using the funds derived from its excessive markup of products to hire customer service reps. I've spent an hour talking to three incompetents working from home. (For one, we had to talk over the sound of his roosters crowing. For another, I had to tell her how to fix her headset that was partially unplugged. Jeez...) The only answer that I got is that it is not possible to deactivate a family cart while keeping the personal cart as is. (Although the "cart" question did get some sage advice about how to change my credit "card"--non-native English speaker. What can I say?) The automated online help has the deactivation procedure, except the selection you are to make from a drop down menu does not exist. (I'm pretty sure Instacart's AI isn't a native English speaker either.) Walmart is offering a much better delivery service and much lower prices, so maybe the answer here is to deactivate both "carts" and take my business elsewhere. What a bunch of incompetent bozos. Money spent on hiring US based service reps and then actually training them would be well invested.
I paid for a year in advance in August 2023. In February of 2024, I needed to cancel my subscription. They will not refund you any $$ for the month's that you are not going to use the service. Zero, Zip, Nada. So, if you pay in advance, you better make sure you are going to use every single month because they will not refund any months that you do not use the service.
I am a senior but mentally very smart instacart used my credit card for a 99.00 fee thet said was for a subscription i never signed for it took hours to straighten out with my bank and instacart did nothing to help do not give you card to instacart
WARNING! Looked at receipt and compared it to actually cost of items. Totally over charged me which seems illegal. Will never use them again.
Stated on the shopping list that items were charged. When delivered the shopper delivered my pet food and none of my groceries! How does that even happen! Now I'll have to pay the fees AGAIN to get my groceries! Talked to customer service and they were no help at all. They gave me a $5 credit for my inconvenience! There's ansolutly no accountability for these shoppers!
On January 21,2024 I placed an order on Costco.com. Order was paid for and
Shipped via INSTANT CART. I noticed Instant Cart charged the wrong tax rate (8%),
Which is not the tax rate where the order was received (2.9%). When I called their
Instant Cart Customer Service THEY refused to adjust the tax rate to the correct amount,
They also refused to refund the difference to my credit card. I called Costco.com, and
They said there was nothing they could do. I called my credit card company (Costco
Citi Card), and they said there was nothing they could do. I then called the Colorado
Attorney General's and filed a compaint against Instant Cart for charging an illegal
Tax rate on my order. BUYER BE WARE - DO NOT USE INSTANT CART FOR ANY

Great concept, brutal customer service. They "auto renew" the account which always leaves a bad taste. If you try to call them for help they will actually hang up on you, complete indifference. It is shocking to think of a business being run like this. I wouldn't sign up again and have deleted my accounts in the middle of my membership due to gross incompetence with the customer support. I wanted an email to confirm my account deletion and they couldn't make it happen. I don't trust this company.
I bought a water bottle for a Christmas gift last Fall, not realizing they automatically signed me up for the $99 annual membership. I called after receiving my credit card statement, but since it was after 30 days, they won't refund the membership fee for a service I have since cancelled and will never use again. If I hadn't received a special offer in the first place, I never would have used them. Since they refuse to offer even a pro-rated refund, I'm making it my mission to make them pay (in lost customers). I appreciate your consideration in boycotting their aggressive business tactics and unfriendly policies.
I had an order and the customer wasn't answering, i reached to customer support and they tried reaching out to customer and they couldn't be reached. I was then told they will cancel the order. Now at this point I already have the customer order in the back of my car and was told if the store doesn't take back to either donate or dispose, so that's exactly why I did. I was then told that within 30 to 40 mins I would get the batch amount which was over 40 and I never received it. I then reached out later in the day and was told I'm not getting anything back. So I was told to donate or throw away if store doesn't except back which they didn't and I'd still get paid for my service the who $40 and some change and that was a lie to. Literally have screen shots being told this lol. $#*! you guys hardcore and stop playing games. I also asked to speak to a manager and was told NO! Lol
This was by far the worse transaction ever! I am displeased and giving a horrible review on every website I can. This trash a$$ company charged me twice, totaling $100 for nothing. No groceries were ver delivered and all they could offer was apologies, excuses, and a $5 credit. Once my money is refunding, I WILL NEVER use this service again. I placed an order early afternoon 1/15 and nothing was ever delivered. They kept extending the delivery time and as of today (the following day) it was pushed til noon 1/16. Unacceptable. Horrible. Tacky. Unprofessional.
1&1/2 had to hang up they just kept deliberately putting me on hold no resolution! Oh & because the customer was probably drunk & didn't let me in there docking my pay if I don't take the 3$ cheap 3 bottles of wine back to Aldi's over it worst company ever!
Instacart ShopRite Delivery wrong address received refund against my will refused re delivery! Called customer service. Rep keep talking and he do not listen customer. Transferred to Q, when I asked for supervisor and disconnected, Rep agreed to re delivery, but changed his mind for no reason applied refund without my permission. Called customer service again re: issue. Spoke to rep. Wait on line, but supervisor was not available. I never received my items, received refund without permission instead of redelivery my order. It's a really bad experience!,
I ordered at 6:40 pm, for the first time ever, and to my surprise, I got free express service, 7:40-9:40 delivery window. Great! Well, the shopper waited til the last minute, and the store was closed. Order cancelled. So, I tried ordering from another store, just before midnight. My delivery window was from 3-5 the next day. I started my game of phone chase at 5:26, trying to catch humans, being told to call others, looking on websites, etc. Finally, I got through to a human at on the phone, at instacart, 6:30, and they blamed a glitch in the grocery store's website. They claim the order never came through, and they CAN'T assign a shopper, I CAN'T resubmit the shopping list without repaying for it, and the refund may take 5-10 business days. That's my grocery money. I expected food today. Not in 5-10 days, when I get my money back, but today. Luckily, the refund came through immediately, my bank is a good one. Long winded way of saying, first time I tried it, gave it 2 shots at 2 different stores, both unsuccessful. I give up. I guess I'll go to the store myself.
Answer: Instacart does not give you the sale prices from the store. So if the peanut butter is 3.50 on sale. Instacart will charge you 4.80 regular price. Their prices are all over the board but on average you are paying 20% more.
Answer: You can't! The only way I got a response from them was when they emailed me to rate my driver and I gave a bad review for her and Instacart. I got an email back. Otherwise, there is no Customer Service! I tried everything under the "Help" section and got nowhere!
Answer: Seriously? They have already scientifically proven that is not spread that way. How many strangers & kids and semi drivers and warehouse people touch your stuff before it even leaves the store.
Answer: No, they don't by policy. But I've found they don't deliver anything else either. Last two orders were cancelled. I dumped my account and told them to keep the gift card balance. Done with InstaCart.
