Hav found chair to be fairly dependable. Batteries last about a year. Go to battery store and get Delco or similar. They will warranty for at least a year. There is really not much to these chairs. 2 batteries, 2 drive motors, controller and frame/seat. Have had some luck sourcing parts on Craigslist or eBay. Lot less expensive than list. Like any vehicle they need maintenance and cleaning. Latest issue is flashing controller lights indicating limit switch on drive motor not making when in drive position. Wiring diagrams are nonexistent but will figure out which wires go to limit switch in motor and probably jumper out. Overall have been satisfied with product but company sounds more like a Medicare scam.
My Hoveround MPV5 chair bought through Medicare will shut off very unexpectedly. I have been tossed on the ground about 5 times. Hoveround maintenance man said it can't be fixed. The problem is built in. I would like to trade it for a Jazzy. I don't recommend anyone buying a Hoveround unless they don't mind being thrown to the ground. It also has sharp edges that stick out and damage walls, doorways and furniture. Call me and i will tell you more. Tb
My mother purchased a Hoveround electric wheelchair new and was told by the salesman that she had a full one year guaranty that would cover any repair on the machine. One of the tires went flat after only using the machine a few times. It was never ridden outside only on the carpeting in her assisted living center. After two months, multiple phone calls the company said that the tires were not covered under the warranty and that she would have to pay for the part and pay for the service call if she wanted the chair repaired.
I wish she had consulted me before buying this chair. She paid in excess of $4,000 for this chair and has only been able to use it a few times. Taking advantage of seniors like this unconscionable.
I'm ok with a walker and cane inside but am pretty much housebound due to not being able to afford a scooter. I wish I'd known these were only for inside. Though I see folks much healthier than I using outdoors. It's very sad when someone has been active and working all their life is put in this position. I'm 66 years old and can't afford to outright buy one of these. Medicare has been a total disappointment in so many ways. This has forced me to become homebound, like it or not.
I cant really explain a incomplete job? I thought satisfaction is substance of a finished job? People seem nice; at the least i can say for the proceedings. How ever this matter depends on the following
Doctor + Insurance = Money out my pocket soooo... surely you understand my position all so far is quite well now shall we continue this adventure please?
My phone consultation, was very easy and pleasant. The person who helped me even called my Doctor office to help get the appointment set up. The nice person on the phone was concerned for me when I told him my chair doesn't charge anymore and worked to get me a quick as possible app. With my Doctor so that we could get on the road to replacing my chair. It was a over pleasant and easy experience and I appreciated that very much - thank you.
Ok I have not had much interaction yet with this company. Just answered questions and sit up a dr visit. I do hope this gets approved. It is much needed by me. It is hard to even get a chair at Walmart and I can't shop without a motor chair. We will see?
5 months 4 sets of defective batteries china made 1 set motors wiring harness same problem within 3 weeks cant make it to the mailbox and back called co rep said made in usa repairman says made in china that's whats labled on batteries good service defective product first hoveround no complaint you cant cure china crap
THe company will not take my insurance for my power scooter and my doctor signed off on the forms 3 times. I feel the company is not of help to low income people who really needs the equipment.

I currently have my third Hoveround. Two bought by insurance and one that I bought. (I am responsible for maintenance on that one.) On the first one service was great! The next one was a different story. The Service Reps. (not the technicians) are rude and condescending. They act as though "it's us against them", like you are trying to beat them out of something.
For example: After eight years of depending on a power chair, I am familiar with symptoms of weak batteries; short life and long recharge times. For one thing the newer batteries are inferior and therefore the cheapest they can provide. If I get stranded by failed batteries I have to call for assistance. The Tech practically accused me of working the system.
Judging by the charges that I see on my Medicare and BC&BS statements, they are the ones working the system. But they can blame it all on Medicare...
Not happy with the power chair don't like the design the
Way the back is sticking out make it hard to turn in the house or doctors office
Also it a problem charging it at nite every time also there no head rest think about returning it
Hoveround called me at the perfect moment. I've had 2 serious back injuries. This last one felt like I jammed my tailbone up into my backbone. Anyway I've fallen 8 times since and I'm really tired of falling. Thanks to Hoveround calling I now have a motion test with my primary doctor this next week. He's been my doctor for a few years and he sees me really slow down. This has just got to go good. Thanks Hoveround for helping.
You act too slowly. I'm sick of waiting. I am a 77 year old female who has been disabled since 1979 and you act like I'm able to walk. I see people who can walk getting these chairs with no problem so why am I being denied.
My father received a new chair this week. The entire process went smoothly (also in thanks to his doctor who was diligent in filling out the required paper work). Service was quick, and tech was excellent. This hoveround is my father's independence and we can't thank them enough for making this process quick and easy!
These people are amazing. No one made me feel like less of a person for needing mobility help and even went out of their way to help me with scheduling a doctors appointment and my insurance information.
Upon the chair arriving the tech proceeded to walk around measuring as I watched a video he brought the chair into my house, the first disappointment was him telling me the seat does not swivel and that to get into my bathroom would be a tight fit, after he left I? Started to test the chair and found I could not get into the bathroom at all, not happy I will continue to try using it for a couple of days and most likely have them take it back
Had my Hoveround for 2 years and had major breakdowns twice. Been without my wheelchair for 3 weeks now, again, have had to push them thru each step to get the repair made and am still waiting. I am shocked at their complete customer service, very rude and no compassion at all. They absolutely don't care, very poor attitudes, told they have hundreds of calls for repair every day and would not let me speak to a supervisor or anyone else that might be able to help me escalate this. I cannot even stand or walk and I can't push myself in a manual chair because I am so crippled. But they tell me everyone's the same way. I am so sorry that I bought a Hoveround. The quality is not there at all and the service if you need help almost don't exist. They have screwed this up since my call on 10/4/23 and I found out today they still have not submitted it to the insurance company to cover my repairs. BJR

Up to now, I loved Hover round and their fantastic service. I have been trying to get back with them several times and getting nowhere. Got a notice tat I have a Drs appointment but I
know nothing about it! C'mon Hoverround... Don't break my heart. I need a working, safe chair now. Diabetic wit three big holes in both feet.
The process was easy. Both the doctors office and your personnel worked closely and efficiently. The chair itself is wonderful. This will most certainly affect for the better my husbands outlook on life.
If i could give them less than a one star I would. I purchased at full price a hoveround for my 88 year old mother. Purchased March 3 2017- 2 batteries and now the arm control. Each time a service rep goes out $140. New arm control installed 4 days later chair not working. I also asked at the last service call to have the speed locked on low both forward and backward, only backwards was done. The condescending call rep just kept telling me the service reps don't go out for free, that's it over and over no solution to the problem that the chair isn't working. I asked to speak to someone else and put me on eternal hold. ARGHHHHHHH.
Answer: So sorry to hear that. I am no longer living with my father-in-law, but I can add to my earlier review and comments. The company did exactly the same thing to him, again. A year later. They got in touch to say that Medicare had accepted their appeal and that the chair was now finally his, and they sent a guy round with the paperwork for signature and everything looked great. It subsequently turned out that Medicare hadn't approved anything and didn't know anything at all about the appeal, and that they were not going to pay. The story that Hoveround gave me was smoke and mirrors and back came the bill for the chair again. As far as I know, a year and a half on, the chair is still not officially his. I probably won't hear anything more about it now, but I'm quite glad I don't have to deal with these people yet again.

Answer: Yes, if doctor can prove medically necessary. Doctor must make file notes to support and you must have an office visit that only addresses the need for your chair.
