I am overweight, so I have the model that is considered bariatric. Problem is, right in front where you need to stand in order to sit down, there is the motor, a huge bulk. Try to step around it, it's almost impossible to do and I'm not that short, 5'6". If the seat swiveled it would be fine, but not an option on this model. So after one day I called and said come get it. Still no word on when.
I called in regards to replacing my current MPV5 Hoveround that is 13 years old. I spoke to a representative that contacted my doctor and explained all the information that was needed to complete the replacement order. I called back the next day late afternoon and was told the insurance that I have you do not except. Not only did you waste my time you wasted the doctor's time as well. Why did I not get a call from Hoveround letting me know about the insurance policy before we set up appointments with doctors?
Junk company, another company that screw over the medicare system, anything for a buck! Chair sucks, no adjustable seats unless you pay extra, freaking $#*!s think people with bad backs can sit on this uncomfortable chair all day wrong
Great people! They have a Well set up process for approval where Hoveround does almost all the work.
Gave me answers on how to get my dad's power wheel chair need met quickly. They put him in his very nice chair times faster than than what the local
Medical supply house told us would happen. The local place even told me that they expected denial!
Oh if only Medicare and the other government programs were as efficient and caring!

Person, who attended my call was very helpful. She initiated the appointment with my primary doctor and explained all the procedures that we need to complete in order to obtain a powered wheelchair. Excellent customer service. Really appreciate it.
It was. So much easier than I thought it was going to be. Your service you provide changes the lives of people who can't get around by walking any longer. I haven't seen my daddy this happy in along time.
My Mom got a Hoveround with her medicare, and for the first year or so, it was fine. A few months after we moved, we started to have issues. They sent us batteries twice to 'fix' the issue and in the past 3 months, we've had at least 4 techs here to look at the **** thing.
They now tell us it's the break system messing up and that they can reset the breaks remotely. I finally yelled "Well next time this happens and the things stops dead in the middle of the road, she'll call you and we pray she don't get hit by a car. GOOD DAY SIR!"
Sarah was very helpful in explaining everything to me and setting up a conference call with my doctor. It turns out I'm not eligible until July 2019 for a new chair but have requested they contact me at that time. Sarah was really professional, friendly and knowledgeable.
First call dead batteries in first 6 months was ok. They said within load test so nothing they could do. 6 months and 2 weeks later, batteries only lasting about 1 block of travel or 1 hour of just sitting, which ever comes first. 3 calls and were told each time, "We're working on it"

NOT recommended. Hoveround MPV5 Power Chair was bought in January 2020. The chair has need multiple repairs over the past 2+ yrs. August 2020 it need a wheel replacement. August 2021 the controller, arm rest and frayed wire needed replacement. May 2022 the chair completely stopped functioning properly. New batteries were ordered - didn't solve the issue. Since May 10,2022 we have been waiting for a service call to be scheduled. They did take payment for the call which hasn't been made (it has been 11 days and multiple calls). When the previous breakdowns occurred parts were shipped - we had to perform the repair. My FIL is wheelchair bound and has not been able to have a quality of life since the Hoveround chair broke down 11 days ago. Medicare only pays for a chair every 5 yrs. I do not recommend this chair which lasted less than 2 1/2 yrs - with multiple repairs needed during that time.
I was dealing with the Scooter Store to get a new power chair (mine is broken). They were SO helpful, but they're outside our insurance network. My insurance told me I would have to go through Hoveround. I'm hearing & reading nothing but horror stories about them. Seems that the chair itself is hard to use, the batteries last just 6 mos., and their customer service is actually UN-customer service. This site just reinforced that for me.
I love my new chair but getting it took 4+ months, a visit to my primary physician, and several follow up calls to make sure everything was good. With that said I'm glad I hung in there and completed the process.

We started this back in March, its now September, still no further then what we were 6 months ago. My husband needs the chair now. Doctor has did everything that Hoveround requested. People seem to be very nice but no one wants to try and speed this along. Very disappointed and tired of waiting.
A two year old hoveround chair requiring major maintenance raise quality control issues, however, hoveround service is non existence. After 8 calls, not one representative was able to confirm or deny what the other 7 representatives said. It is therefore a fair statement to say that customer service for customers who paid for their Hoveround's is non existent as well. Horrible service and equally horrible customer service once you pay.
I like my Basic Hoveround Chair, but next time around, I want one with a few options. I wish they all came with the swivel seat and cup holder. For us older people, that is very important. Most of us live on a fixed income and to spend out of our pocket for these little extras means we have to do with out something else. I do not what to sound cheap or want something for nothing but I do not know how else to put it. I am truly grateful for what you have given me because I can now get around without asking other people for help. This is just my opinion.
Both of the gentlemen who came out were very, very nice. Explained everything to me and answered all my questions. Should have gone to them earlier. Only took 2 weeks to get my chair and I love it.

Chris was on time, went over every detail required, and made adjustment
To fit my physical conditions. He assembled the chair in out family room
(Raining cats and dogs outside) with very little mess and once I gave it a
Test drive made some final adjustments that made my ride much better.
When he was finished with the chair, he cleaned up the water on the floor.

This company is terrible, their power chairs are garbage. My chair had to be serviced constantly. Their parts don't, they put, garbage parts in my chair. It takes forever for them to get the parts and left me non mobile for almost 2 months. Their customer service reps are rude and nasty. The technician Mike, was not friendly, always came with major attitude, when coming to fix my chair. Avoid this company at all costs. I'm do for a new chair, and have taken my business to a new company. Customer service people are nice, they had my chair approved within a week, I'm waiting on delivery now! Now, it's how it should be…..
Answer: So sorry to hear that. I am no longer living with my father-in-law, but I can add to my earlier review and comments. The company did exactly the same thing to him, again. A year later. They got in touch to say that Medicare had accepted their appeal and that the chair was now finally his, and they sent a guy round with the paperwork for signature and everything looked great. It subsequently turned out that Medicare hadn't approved anything and didn't know anything at all about the appeal, and that they were not going to pay. The story that Hoveround gave me was smoke and mirrors and back came the bill for the chair again. As far as I know, a year and a half on, the chair is still not officially his. I probably won't hear anything more about it now, but I'm quite glad I don't have to deal with these people yet again.

Answer: Yes, if doctor can prove medically necessary. Doctor must make file notes to support and you must have an office visit that only addresses the need for your chair.
