I joined homestars 3.5 months ago. When speaking to the sales rep. (Norman) I explained that I was looking for quality leads for bigger home renovation projects that i could lead as GC. He ensured me that homestars could deliver such leads in abundance (100+ leads per year with a 50% success rate). Since joining I have only received 6 leads one being today (which I believe to be fake, sent by HS) and they were all jobs I specifically explained i did not want sent to me (tiny handyman jobs). When trying to cancel my subscription, they totally ignored what i was requesting. I reached out to my rep. (Kelly) and was emailed by someone else (Apoorva) who informed me that it was her that I needed to speak to in order to cancel. When I finally got her on the phone, she just tried to keep me from cancelling with all the same BS promises i heard before. When she realized that i was not going to be persuaded into staying, she informed me that i had to speak with someone from a different department and that they would call me the following week, which they didn't and still haven't. So $315 per month for 3 months ($945) plus the cancellation fee of 35% of the amount remaining ($992.25) equals $1937. 25 for absolutely nothing at all. PROMISES YOU THE WORLD ONLY TO DELIVER EXCUSES!

They were on time and well equipped with all the parts required to finish the job, everything was completed and I had the City of Calgary Inspection permit the same day as the hookup was complete.
I had my neighbor Matt Owad (retired) come over to see the completed job as he had 45 years of employment with ATCO gas formerly CWNG, his job was installing gas lines like ours in residential homes, he stated that the job completed by Scott and his team was one of the best he had ever seen!
We had a very pleasant experience in all aspects of the job completed. I would highly recommend Scott and his team for a Professional job, great turnaround time and a very affordable fair pricing for the job.

I bought a Lennox EL16XC from Mersay Heating and Cooling. The salesman told me it was large, but should have made me aware that it was too large for the area it was going into. I told them it was unacceptable and was then told it could be changed for the EL XC13, which I agreed to and was told that they have one in stock. After taking out the old unit and them installing new coolant, I noticed that the new air conditioner was the Merit series 13ACX. Not something I wanted. Had they made we aware of this I would have cancelled the order. The model I wanted was on back order and could take anywhere from 3 to 10 weeks to get. So I had to settle for the Merit Series. Suffice to say that I am disappointed with my experience with Mersey.

I closed 2 contracts in a 12 month period not worth the money and I told them to cancel my account and there not cancelling it's almost 2 months from when I told them to cancel please stay away
Bad people. Wasted thousands of dollars with them. They will do everything they can to get you to sign contract and after that you can go to hell.
Not happy at all. I have been trying to cancel my membership and they do not even respond. I'm forced to cancel my card. They do not produce nearly what they should considering the costs.
The workers arrived exactly when they said they would and did an amazing job! They cleaned up perfectly and left things better than when they got there
I give Home-Stars, 4.0 of 5.0, I have some major problems with them posting FALSE reviews with false facts and this hurts my company. They are a good tool if you combine it with other references like the BBB rating e. T. c., Some times you will use a good company and not be happy it doesn't mean they weren't a good company. Overall I recommend Home-Stars even though I have lost money over their web-site, this is mainly because the consumer puts to much weight on bad reviews and false negative reviews. I hope some day Home-Stars will allow a business to show facts of a false review and remove it ( alot of opinions contain false facts, Home-Stars should take this more seriously and make it very clear to reviewers false facts WILL NOT be tolerated) Brent Routley Owner M and M Moving Systems
I have been a contractor with home stars for 7 years and have slowly watched their service diminish. Not only are contractors charged to be on the system, but also charged to access leads. This double dipping this is no good for hard working service providers.
The second major issue is with their review process, the management of this system is arbitrary and not as strong as they say it is, we have a mid 90% ranking and yet still we get false or extortionist reviews that are not pulled off after extensive work on our part proving the inaccuracy of the review, on the flip side we have reviews that are a 10 for work we did not even complete. We also have clients that honestly review us and the review is never added to the site and tried another review that was from a false customer and it was let on the site. I no longer have faith in their system to accurately represent our customers opinions of our work. Negative reviews from log ago are weighted to heavily and continue to affect out business dealing with new clients
I do not recommend at 600$ a month this is a good investment for starting business and exsisting business have to stay on our all the review equity built is gone.
They charge alot of money for doing nothing to help your business. They give you fake leads as no body responds to your messages. You don't make even a 25% to pay for this bull$#*! app.
We have been with them, paying, for 2 years. When we first started they were great. Now that they have been bought out they have been getting suckier and suckier. Not because their rates are sky rocketing. If I get $5 for every $1 I spend with them it's still works. It's their customer service that is frustrating me the most. Although, I did hear the them at a banquet stating that we (the contractors) are not their customers, it's the homeowners.
They no longer answer the phones when we call, it goes to voicemail. They refuse to communicate in the manner that is convenient to us when we need to speak with our rep directly. Disgruntled employees are able to pose as customers and leave negative reviews (the investigation link is for show). Job leads are not evenly distributed. We have a great rating (98%) and we know people with less ratings in our field and we compare notes. They are getting leads almost daily while we were not.
Honestly, Homestars was a crucial stepping stone to getting our business going. But with these new price changes, unfair distribution of leads, and poor customer service now, I could not recommend another company to sign up with them.
I used to be proud to be part of HS, but now I'm looking for an escape route. If things stayed the same and they raised their prices, fine, I wouldn't like it but we would manage.
Don't count on this website. Homestars will not post good reviews if you don't pay them and will not allow anybody to post good revies. It's a scam!

Bad experience they keep sending you bad leads all the time and made promises that they cant keep. Stay away and all you need for reviews is google and its efective and free.
I've been working with HomeStars for many years, and have been very happy with their customer service, and their ability to direct my company to be even more responsive to our clients. A very effective consumer protection site that oversees ALL companies that do work in homes. Gone are the days that an unscrupulous contractor can come into your home, and fail to do the work promised, or provide the service expected by the homeowner. Our company has thrived using HomeStars as a way to show potential customers what our past customers think of our Stain Protection, and customer service. Our account manager, Jameela Baird, is extremely professional, highly responsive, and always helpful in getting the right answers to make our Profile as consumer oriented as possible. I would suggest, however, the company add a category - or a subcategory - for Fabric Protection/Stain Prevention as almost ALL cleaning companies provide Fabric Protection as a large part of their services. This is a multimillion dollar industry that may be as big as cleaning, and in some niches, much bigger. Possibly a great way for HomeStars to add more companies that wish to be associated with their services!
I would strongly suggest to all homeowners that they use HomeStars, and look up the contractor, or company they plan to use before making a decision. Moreover, homeowners can also use the HomeStars site to get multiple companies to bid for their services. Don't gamble with the companies you bring into your home, trust HomeStars to provide you with the best service, for the most competitive price!

We signed onto Homestars in January of 2021 with the expectation that the platform would be relevant and beneficial to our provided services as a company on the platform.
We spoke with Sam Ghazi and Aisling Turley for our initial sales discussion to determine the suitability of the platform for our business. These two representatives described and provided examples of other businesses using the platform and their apparent success in the same field of work. However, this proved to be far from the case in reality during our 4 months on the platform from January to April.
We received a total of (1) leads related to the actual service that we provide. Please note, that the issue was not that we were not receiving leads but that virtually all leads received were NOT SPECIFIC TO OUR PRIMARY SERVICE. Which was the whole point of using the platform.
We should have read reviews by other BUSINESSES who have used the platform as many others here have negatively reported. The sales representatives behave like the nicest people on the planet but in reality, are relentless in trying to illegitimately squeeze every penny however unethical from you once you sign on.
I have requested to cancel services ending the month of April and they continue to charge our Credit Card. THEY ARE FORCING US TO PAY THEIR CANCELLATION FEES.
Please do your business a favour and DO NOT SIGN WITH HOMESTARS. If you spend the same amount on any other form of advertising you will reap a much greater return.
If we treated customers like Homestars does, we would have been out of business 15 years ago.

I have read reviews from others and have to say that I experience the same as those that are extremely unhappy. This company is TOTAL SCAM - and I mean it. The are sending me invites to become their member and to pay monthly between $200 - $700 so I can receive new clients. When I called and spoke to the person who works there only 4 months she could not answer the question - how is it that all these paying members are at 91% - 98% satisfaction. We are in business since 1975 and we service approximately 300/week and 1500/month clients and with help of our office staff we're asking our customers to write review on Homestars and they are not appearing at all or in some cases they are calling our customers to find out work order and/or invoice number for prove to delay the process. But if I was to pay them money they want than there would be no verification and DEFINATELY my score would have been at least 95%. THIS COMPANY IS ALL ABOUT MONEY AND NOT CUSTOMER OPINION. THE MORE YOU PAY THEM THE BETTER SCORE YOU HAVE.
Bad business. HomeStars employ predatory sales people who place a lot of sugar on top of a rotten dinner you will be forced to eat until you can get out of that damn contract. RIght out of the gate, you will be placed on a hamster wheel where it is entirely up to YOU to make your monthly payments work for you. If you do not have positive reviews coming in on a monthly basis then you are sent to the oblivion section where your company just looks... really bad and you continue to pay for it all the while. Companies that have contracts lasting more than 30 days (mine take 6 months to a year) you are kind of screwed because if you don't have a "new customer" review come next month, your profile (and reviews) are dropped to the basement and there you stay chained to the dark damp wall with your lighter. Your assigned 'account Manager' (who changes without notice) has no power and must refer any request to the head office sales team who are a bunch of thugs. Account manager seems to act more like a buffer, the first of two or three locked doors you must knock upon before arriving at some watered down reply. You will NOT get out of your contract without paying for it dearly. By the way, they will not allow you to delete your company from their data base and they monitor and block you from making any changes to your company profile so... talk about big daddy watching. Another curios thing is HomeStars does not allow for any reviews on or off its website; did you notice that? Also, not a member of the BBB, why is that you think? Probably because of the ton of complaints they would have to deal with. I paid I think around $6000 to get out after 8 months (with penalties) and literally threw that money away for absolutely nothing. They are a very bad company and highly recommend staying away or you will pay the cost. I have included one of many invoices which does not reflect the true cost. I wish I could download the phone conversations but my experience is accurate and absolutely horrible. To this day even though I have nothing to do with HomeStars, my company is glued to their data base with HomeStars refusing to remove it which makes no sense except they want to look bigger than they are
