Terrible leads, most of the time they did not fit my profile. The leads are sent to too many contractors at once and clients mostly never answer the phone or completely waste your time.

Terrible leads, most of the time they did not fit my profile. The leads are sent to too many contractors at once and clients mostly never answer the phone or completely waste your time.

HomeStars has been a complete waste of time. They sign the contractor up for a listing. Send you a few leads, which lead to no face to face contact with the client and send you a bill for over $800. At the end of the day, who are you working for, for yourself OR to pay for the listing?
When you reach out to the representative, they won't call back, they ghost you, and don't reply to emails.
This is not how to conduct a long term marketing relationship with contractors. Save your time and money and avoid HomeStars. This HomeStars will never get 5 stars in my books.

HomeStars will never get a full 5 star rating.

I had a problem with a contractor, but when I put my reviews, HomeStars did not post it and when I complained, they said they do not post the review at this time. That was a couple years ago! Then I noticed that my contractor is paying HomeStars that is why they did not post my review. This shows that the reviews are not mostly true, and HomeStars is selective of the reviews which is kind of deceiving for the people who want to hire a contractor.

As a new contractor in business I was reluctant to sign up with them. They reassured me I was going to get 10 - 15 leads through a month. "you'll be overloaded with work".

I received an average of 2 leads a month and the quality of the leads was just laughable.

Would not recommend to anyone.

This company is a complete scam.
Once you sign up, forget about talking to anyone. No one answers the phone. When you call your phone number is routed to your rep regardless of what number you call. (you could try another phone number I guess, if you have time for that) And of course forget about a call back.

Towards the end of your dismal contract, a different kinder, more understanding crook will call to try to smooth out the mood due to lack of, and useless leads because of miscategorization of your service, and offer you a discount for the remainder of the contract. Even if you tell the rep that you are not going to renew. Why?, because they set up the new discounted price as another annual contract without consent.

I had no choice but to cancel my credit card because I read elsewhere that Homestar's will continue to attempt to debit your account even after the contract has run its course. And sure enough, they did! (try that is)

I could go on, but I hope you get the point. Work on your own SEO, forget these clowns.

They have removed my review only because their system is set up to reject any review that has a contact information. What's happened was we got ripped off by a company that was supposed to fix our cooktop that they accidentally broke the glass part of and never followed up to replace the broken cooktop. It's been 2 years since the incident and they don't care. The cooktop is a $2500 and we are stuck with a broken glass top. Now, I have read other negative reviews for that company and found that there are so many other people that got ripped off so I wanted to write a review including my email address for others to contact me so we could do a class lawsuit against the company and because I have included my email address, my review was removed by the system.I have complained to them so Home Stars manager did contact me just to say that their system is set up that way to remove any contact info. My reply is, we'll then set it up the way do the system accepts the review because right now Home Stars is protecting and promoting fraudulent companies. Having said all of the above I suggest anyone who considers to be a part of Home Stars community to stay away from these clowns. Home stars is a complete joke.

I worked at Homestars as the annoying person who would always call you to sign up. The job had its great days and others were horrible! You were expected to make at least 120 calls daily and have a talk time of at least 3 hours per day. Also it was a salary job plus commission, so if you wanted me to call you after hours, I was not getting paid for that (and I would call you after hours, so if you are someone who asked for it, please pick up that phone, I hated missing time with my family only to be ghosted!)

Now, for the people saying they call all the time, it's true they call ALL THE TIME! We were expected to call you at least 5 times before you were put back into a cooling off time (a few months) before called again. The only way to get off this list is to SPECIFICALLY SAY REMOVE US AND DO NOT CALL AGAIN. If you do not say that, they will not remove you, only put you back in for a call in a few months. Also, the reps who call you, are given the lists and have to call you, so I got used to being told off multiple times a day because of how often we would call, and I had no choice (alternatively, I spoke to many who were driving between jobsites who were not interested but had great conversations and enjoyed it!). Just remember, the person calling you is getting pushed by the higher-ups to call you, so everyone is pressured, its sales, but politely saying to remove from the list is the best way to stop calls.

Next is price, damn it was expensive! You are charged based on location and category, so if you choose to go on HS, make sure you know what you want and the area or you will be overpaying and getting crap leads. Also if you are in back woods of Alberta, don't expect any leads! Basically, any leads are from major city centres, AND then you are on a rotation depending on how many other companies are in your area (and I will add they are sent through a rotation and evenly distributed). Price is negotiable as well so if it is something you want to do, hit them back hard on the price!

To summarize is it worth it, I mean it all depends, Sure reviews are important to some, but depending on what you do and the area, it can be (I mean if you install overhead doors an hour outside Toronto, hell no. If you are a handyman who does small jobs downtown Toronto absolutely (they have A TON of leads because nobody wants the small jobs)) but if you have the mindset that you are going to get a ton of leads for the price you are wrong! If you have a high-margin business and pocket 20-30k per job, then if it cost 8k a year and you get 1 or 2 good leads it sure can be.

Hi everyone. Please don't use this site as it's a scam. They trick you saying it's just 1 payment then after you get charge $600/ month for 12 month. Try to cancel then they make you give them 2 month notice and then on top of that you have to pay 30% of remaining balance. There is no lead at all. Scam scam scam

Complained to HomeStars about DCD Landscaping practices. HomeStars endorsed this company. Homestars does not verify reviews and does no audit or follow up on consumers' complaints. Homestars does not authenticate a company fully and thus puts consumers at risk. Homestars is solely interested in collecting money from contractors and be damned with the consumer.

Just passing by to say that home stars is a lack of respect for others. And organized crime. They came to us and said we would keep busy with work.

It's been more than 5 months since we paid them 500 dollars every month. In addition to them not sending a quantity of work, when they do send it they also send 20 other companies to provide a quote. I have been paying for 5 months and have not completed any work. This is a theft.

I'm at a point where I need to earn money and not pay to work. And they are robbing us. because I'm losing money. Never do anything with them they are a fraud and organized crime

I've been trying to cancel it since June and they still have the nerve to want to charge me 355 of the amount. Because when we start business with them they make us squeeze everything online. And then comes to say that everything is in contract precisely to steal from us. I hope to see them soon in a bad situation

We got rid of this company a few years ago for having no accountability for reviews. Ever since we have received multiple calls from them to get back on board. We're not interested in a platform that has no accountability, and charges x4 to x5 times the competitions annual fees, we put in too much hard work in the field, we want to be represented correctly and accurately and heard as business owners when there are legitimate concerns"
I felt compelled to write this review after a very pushy phone call from one of the reps today.

Erindale landscape still have not come back to complete job.still missing my step to the side door. Front step so wobbly they move everytime you go step on then.
But did come around last Sunday for more money

Worst platform I've ever used.
Take your money, give a lot of false leads, and then flag your number on file and make it near impossible to speak with an agent. Had to start calling from another number to reach someone.
And that's just the tip of the iceberg. I could write an essay on their BS

Hi, invoice # ******* was much higher than expected. The call back was for a bbq issue, the service person Craig, did a furnace check (which had been done), a fireplace check and he replaced the BBQ outlet. I was told that I would be paying only for parts but was billed for all the above. We are not happy about the bill.

They do not really do anything to bolster your business and sneak in a 35% THIRTY FIVE PERCENT. Cancellation fee when you realize their services are usless costing you anywhere from 700-1000$. One of my biggest mistakes I've ever made. They turn small businesses into easy money for themsevles.

I stopped paying for this service 5 months ago. Get calls to sign up and pay more than I was. My 98 want down to a 90 with no bad reviews. Home stars is no help on my market as leads are poor.

Wanted a 1 month membership, they said not a problem.
They did not tell me it was a 12 month agreement with a 700$ cancellation fee?
Now they want 3000$ or 700$ for a service i didnt use let alone finish the verification process.
I asked to cancel and they tried intimidating me telling me to pay 700$ or else. And told me its in my best interest and to be careful about disputing...
What did i just get into?

After two days of trying to unblock a pipe from our basement to no avail, I turned to professional help, Mr. Rooter. Less than a hour from my first call, George Shakh arrived and with his camera equipment showed me the blockage, 44 feet from my bathroom.
We discussed what needed to be done and within 15 minutes I had a quote, accepted it, he made a appointment for the next day. Three men arrived by 8:30 and began work. By 4:00 they found the pipe 8 1/2down and repaired it. A very hot humid day, Alex, Andrew, and Eugene all went beyond the call to finish the job. A huge Thank You to all for a great experience and I will definitely call for future help.

If you have money burning a hole in your advertising budget pocket, then feel free to send it to me, cus I won't do anything for the money either. Complete waste of my money, and I'll be wasting more just to get out of the contract. First month, an overwhelming number of phone calls to see how they can help me. Got seven or so leads, turned out to be "tire kickers". Beginning of the second month, got one lead that turned out, but not big money and not really for what I do. Now at the end of the third month, absolutely nothing. Complete waste of money, in my opinion. As a renovation contractor, it would be better to leave my business card on the table at the food court.

Tip for consumers:
Do some research and see how many people complain about homestars. They might have started out to help people, but now theyre only helping themselves.

We have an agreement with Reliance Home Comfort Protection Plan 24-hour since 2007. They are committed to providing outstanding furnace heating and cooling, repair and maintenance, Ecobee smart thermostat wiring furnace, and a hot water tank service. Their goal is the same as ours: to get the heat or cooling turned back on fast. First I talked to a very knowledgeable representative at Ecobee, similar to the Nest thermostat. The problem. We could not get the fan started without having the heat on. We had a missing wire going from the furnace to the thermostat upstairs. I immediately booked my appointment with Reliance under my home comfort protection plan to do a scheduled repair the next day. Resolution completed. John from Reliance was very knowledgeable and removed the fast-stat and installed a new 5 wire from the smart Ecobee thermostat upstairs to the furnace in the basement. He did not hesitate to call a co-worker to discuss the diagram of the Ecobee smart thermostat which I like to see because it tells me that the rep cares to fix the problem. He diligently disconnected the thermostat, removed the baseboard in the dining room to create hidden access to run the new wire from the main floor to the furnace in the utility basement. He did a clean job! So nothing a little silicone on the trim can't fix. The fan is now running and we programmed it for 30 minutes an hour. I'm 100% satisfied with the service they provided. Get the home protection plan and pay for what service you need. Heating/Air conditioning/Hot Water/Plumbing/Water Purification/Electrical/ Smart Home. This way you get the rental protection program price.

Do not ever believe what they are saying. I have experienced that they say something but do something else. Due to some reason I had to call them but they took God Promise they did not my call. I have tried so many times. Now when blocked my card to stay away from payment they started calling me to just to get the payment. They were taking money from me for nothing. Don't listen to them its all $#*! they will tell you to get the signed on contract. I humbly request be safe and be care full.

Signed up for Homestars after the rep said I should expect 1-3 leads a day and that there were over 2700 leads in 2020, most of them going unanswered. I jumped through all the hoops and got a 90% rating. I paid $200 a month for 5 months and only got 7 leads, none of which even turned into jobs. I brought this up with my rep and they just pointed out that they don't guarantee leads and that I agreed to a year term... total garbage! I do lots of online marketing and this has been one of the worst ones yet.

I was starting to use homestars and unfortunately I found it a big waste of money last year as I was getting no jobs and paying them 400 a month for job leads.
My sales guy insisted I need better reviews said it could be me not getting quotes is my fault,I use Facebook and book jobs like no tomorrow have alot of good reviews on different sites homestars, Facebook,Google etc.
Another person just called this year and I'm very hesitant in signing up after I tell him it's not a good thing financially he just rushes off phone complete scammers all they want is money,infant they give all the work to people paying them better money don't sign up you will regret it.
