Bad Customer service

This company is atrocious. I recently purchased an office set from them. There is ZERO communication throughout the process. The website boasts a 3-4 day delivery lead time. After a week of not hearing anything I attempted to contact the company. They did not respond to any emails, didn't answer their phone - I was consistently sent directly to voicemail no matter what time of day I called. Finally reached someone (by the way, only one person answered the phone every time - a company of one?), I was asked for my order number, was told the site would be updated within 48 hours and then hung up on. The order updated a few days later to say the product was on backorder for 4 months. Four months later, contacted them again to deal with the same issue of them not answering the phone or responding to voicemails and emails. Was ultimately asked for payment info and again hung up on. Needed to call again to ask for ETA of delivery - which was estimated at another 2 weeks. Finally product was delivered, but delivered both short and damaged. Their site said I needed to notify them of damage 48 hours in advance, however, order notes stated that I needed to note the damage on the carrier paperwork (how, since the pallet of product is just dropped off?). In any case, I followed both processes and now they won't offer a replacement and say that if I want a new one then I'll have to repurchase the set or pay to get it repaired. This company is AWFUL. If you place an order and don't need to have any communication with them whatsoever, then consider yourself lucky. That was not the case with me and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.

Unfortunately for me, I have to work to pay for my furniture. This was a big problem for me when shopping with this company as I was told by the first delivery company, after ordering, I had to arrange for delivery of the palleted unassembled furniture before five on week days as there is no Saturday or after 5 delivery options. I don't get out of work until 5 or 5:30. Even then, you just get a four hour window frame not a solid delivery time. In addition, when I contacted Home Cinema for some help with getting delivery set up, I get an email on 12/8 from rep. Kelly saying as of 12/9 I would start incurring storage charges because the furniture had been at the delivery company for over a week. Never mind that I originally wasn't getting communication on my cell number as requested when I was out of town but instead, they were calling my answering machine at home, when I'm not there. After telling Kelly I was going to make sure I leave a review of Home Cinema for others to read about my experience (lack of customer service) with Home Cinema I get this clause in an email,
"LEGAL NOTICE:
Since you have resorted to a threats and company defamation: Should you choose to make due on your threat, police report will be published for slander, your contact information added to national registries and this case turned over to our attorney for processing of slander and defamation. This will carry a minimum damages penalty of $20,000 and you to appear in SC state court." So, after having received my furniture and it having some damage on both pieces, which I did note on the delivery receipt as instructed, I read their policy on damages and it states you also have to contact them within 48 hours of delivery. I emailed them somewhere around 8 hours too late and as of today have had no response to my email. So, in summation, I can say this; there is no way I would recommend doing business with this company to anyone I know. It would have been much easier for me to deal with a local furniture store and when I checked out the pricing, I could have done that for only $100 more but would have had someone assemble and delivery the furniture without all the hassle. For me this was a live and learn situation.

Ordered an upholstered leather office chair $400 and a $1000 desk. Chair arrived badly damaged and desk came with wrong parts, couldn't be assembled. I immediately contacted Home Cinema Center to request a solution to the issues at the time the items were delivered and unpacked at about 1230 pm Central Time on 07/25/2016. The packaging for the items was in good condition with no holes, dents or visible damage. Upon opening the box with the chair I discovered both wooden arms on the chair were snapped clear through. One of the chair arms had a sloppy hole drilled through it that looked like a botched repair. When I opened the desk boxes I found the desk was shipped with two left drawer base units and it couldn't therefore be assembled to the desk top. The items arrived at 1200 noon on 07/25/2016. I called the company immediately upon discovery of the issue at about 1230 pm. The man on the phon, Marc was very rude and short with me on the phone, demanding I send him email "proof" to verify my claims. He then hung up on me twice without any explanation of what the return process is or any apology for the defective merchandise. I then immediately send photos of the chair with two broken wooden arms and the desk with two left base units which could not be assembled. There needs to be a left and a right unit to be able to assemble the desk. I called again on 07/26/2016 and Marc again refused to speak to me about how my issue was going to be resolved and refused to even confirm receipt of the photos I sent by e-mail. The company has a 7 day return policy and refused to discuss what will be done to resolve this issue. When asked if they received my photos he told me it would take three to five days to respond by email. I demanded they pick up defective items and provide a full refund. There has been no response. There are multiple (29) other customers with similar complaints at the following consumer website: https://www.sitejabber.com/reviews/www.homecinemacenter.com Go to One star reviews and you will see a definitive pattern with the same shoddy customer service.

Then when I attempted to post an honest review of their activities on the HomeCinemaCenter.com site, set up for that purpose for its customers it was not posted. Apparently they will only post positive reviews. This is a home based business using a UPS post office box as their business address. All items were paid in full in advance so there is no reason I would lie about having received defective products. This can happen to any distributor but my main issue is with the completely unprofessional and unresponsive attitude by Marc when I attempted to resolve this issue. If possible I will post the photos of the items sent to my house. STAY AWAY, this business does not want to assist you in a reasonable way if things go wrong.

I cannot believe the awful experience I had with this company, their customer service, their delivery and shipping options and just the overall experience. I ordered a $1,000 desk online and prior to ordering asked about delivery and assembly, and I was informed that it would require no assembly and be delivered to my home. I WAS NOT informed that they would drop it off at the curb of my house and not bring it into my home. I was also NOT INFORMED that I would need to STALK the company to find out, #1 where my delivery was, #2 when and if it would be delivered.

I never received a confirmation email of shipping, I had to call to find out that my order was in Chicago. I was told to call the next day to arrange shipping. I did so, provided the tracking number and then told that they had it sitting in Chicago and that no delivery address was given and they would not deliver it to me because they would need the company to call and tell them where to send it (Detroit). I called the company *Homecinemacenter" and was told they would send the paperwork on, they did not because I called the next day and had to redo the entire process again, finally, someone got through to them. I was then told to call and arrange delivery, I did, and they informed me it would be delivered the next day between 9 and 5, at 3:30 I had not heard back from anyone and so i called the shipper who said that the driver had called me and left me a voicemail about delivery (i had no missed call and no voicemails) then I was informed they would bring it to me that evening. The driver called me to tell me that he would be dropping it off at the curb, but asked if someone could help him since he didnt have the proper vehicle to do so... obviously no one could help so he had to rearrange delivery for the next day. I called the company immediately inquiring about a cancellation whereas I was informed that there would be "enormous amount of fees" to return, half the cost of the item.

Bottom line, what you think you might be saving with this website, you will make up in confusion, delay, headache and annoyance. RUN AWAY. Do not do business with these people.

I was excited to see a furniture site with such high quality looking furniture for a great price... well now I know why. I purchased a dining room table and bedroom set from this company. Upon placement of order, 2 weeks later I found out that the bed frame wasn't available. Since there was no other option I opted for a refund. The refund was no problem to get. Next, they called to schedule the delivery of the furniture about 3 weeks after the first interaction. The delivery man dropped off a crate of items, which did not appear to be our in the center of our garage. We let him know that it was not what we ordered and he said the order number matches, then left. After calling Home Cinema and letting them know, some vague, disgruntled employee answered the phone and told me my order was "lost" and they would let me know when they found it. A few days past and no calls to me happened. I called back and the same disgruntled guy answer the phone and told me they found it and it would be to me at "some point" then they would pick up the wrong furniture sent and drop off what I ordered. Needless to say a week later the shipping company called and attempted yet again a delivery. After delivering our furniture (all boxes were banged up and torn up) the delivery company said they couldn't take the wrong freight back as they have no records to do so. We received our furniture and put everything together... everything was damaged. Multiple chips and scratches/broken pieces... and still a giant freight load of furniture that wasn't ours sitting in the center of the garage. I contact Home Cinema to let them know my furniture is broke. They completely ignored my request and asked if I returned the furniture. I told them the situation and they said "ok" then completely ignored me. Delivery company is now trying to figure out another pick up time to schedule which I have to wait a 4 hour period again. I called Home Cinema once again to talk about the damage to all my furniture and they stated they would not talk to me until the wrongfully delivered furniture was picked up. The company then threatened to charge me for the furniture if I didn't respond within 4 hours to schedule a delivery. I have emailed and called Home cinema over 10 times to try and get everything straightened out. The same smug, rude, disgruntled man continuously answers the phone and never provides any customer service. I am pretty sure that he also answers all the emails under "alias names" because they have the same rude actions. Unless you want to throw away all your money to receive broken furniture, DO NOT BUY FROM THEM. Save yourself some money and headaches.

I purchased a table and chairs (set) for $1265. 04. It was delivered damaged. The table top was the only damaged item. I sent an email on 2/1/18 informing them that the table top was damaged and included pictures of the damage. They responded on 2/5/18 ". A credit in the amount of $75 to correct the issues at your convenience 2. Dispatch a furniture tech to correct the issues within the next 2-3 weeks" I responded on 2/5/18 with, "I believe the pictures may be a little deceiving. The breakage is really bad and completely unfixable in any way that would put it in a "new" condition for which I ordered and paid for. Either you can send me a new table top or I can inform American Express, BBB, Google Reviews, Yelp and every other website that your company was made aware of this damage and did nothing but offer a band-aid (and inadequate at that) to fix and not per your " best return policies in the online business" that is clearly stated on your website. I did not purchase used, broken or defective materials. I purchased a table that is supposed to be in new condition. This needs to be escalated up your chain of command to send me a table that is not damaged, defective or broken. They responded on 2/9/18 with "Please provide a copy of your signed delivery receipt for review. " I sent it on 2/9/18. Then POOF they were gone! I followed-up on 2/17, "Okay, it has been 8 days with no follow-up from you regarding fixing this issue. On Monday, 2/19/18, I will be writing a complaint https://www.bbb.org/consumer-complaints/file-a-complaint/nature-of-complaint/ at 3pm. Then I will ensure follow-up with the AG's office. I am trying to be reasonable and accommodating since I understand that customer service is difficult which is why I am giving you this opportunity to do the right thing. Also, by letting you know what my next step be.

I want the new tabletop that I paid $1265. 04. I don't want a measly $75 nor to have someone come out and "repair" it. I PAID for a new table in new condition. They advertise that they have the best return policy; YET, they have not lived up to their promise. I want an unbroken table top. I did everything that they requested and they are trying to get out of doing the right thing and hoping I just go away. How many other consumers have they done this too. Or this is the fault of a low-level employee and the executive team would be aghast that they have failed to give good consumer service.
