The company exhibits a mixed reputation, with notable strengths in customer satisfaction when it comes to specific contractors and service providers, who are often praised for professionalism and quality work. However, significant concerns arise regarding the lead generation service, with numerous customers expressing frustration over poor-quality leads, lack of refunds for invalid contacts, and overwhelming solicitations. Many reviews indicate a decline in service quality following the merger with Angie's List, leading to a perception of the company as unreliable. Overall, while individual service experiences can be positive, systemic issues with lead handling and customer support remain prevalent.

If you are any contractor small or large do not do business with this company know as home advisor they're the biggest ripped off they caused my bank account to over draw the leds were not legit worst company ever
They charge a lot for leads and send them at all hours of the day and night, so many so that you can't keep up with them and at the end of the week end up owing them around $200-$300. I would have to upcharge the jobs so much just to pay for the leads and not even make any money. On top of that they charge you $280 just to start it up and it does not go towards any leads. You are only allowed to pause leads on your own for 2 days at a time, if you want to for longer you have to call them. I'm sorry but who wants to call them every time they need to pause it? If I'm paying it I should be able to control it.
I am a contractor and they just will not leave me alone I know this company is a scam and any home owner with the ability to connect with Home Advisor can find local contractors on their own. I tell them I am not interested and stop calling me they stop for a month or two then start up again. They bombard my email with so called potential leads people who are looking for the Cheapest contractor regardless of ability I am not that contractor.
So contractors and trades stay away from this scam.
After about 3 wks. Nothing resolved. Hired someone they recommended which now I taking them to small claims. Stay away from home advisors.
Disgraceful criminals... I am a college student running a small eco-friendly landscaping business. HomeAdvisor reached out and scammed me into a "free" year of leads. "Leads" are homeowners looking to hire your type of work. A little about these leads... they send them to competitors all over your area, they aren't filtered or pre-screened, mostly elderly people just looking for prices, HomeAdvisor charges YOU an insane amount (like $40 for a leaf removal job) just to get the clients information!
I called a lead and scheduled a consultation, then 30 mins before the consultation he cancelled and said he was going to blow the leaves into his sewer. I called HomeAdvisor for a refund... THEY DONT REFUND.
HomeAdvisor is a disgrace to this country and humanity as a whole. They charge your credit card every time they send you a random lead, and these leads are terrible dead-end jobs that you can't have refunded.
Please please please, do not waste your hard earned money on HomeAdvisor. Ask your friends for reviews, or just call the companies individually. They belong in jail for their actions.
Home advisors is nothing but a great big huge scam! We needed emergency repair on our roof after wind damage. I called HomeAdvisor I'm booked what I thought was a professional. Professional? Yeah right! The guy showed up a half hour late, no truck, no equipment, not even a ladder!
After looking at the roof now the guy had to go to Home Depot to purchase all of the material which of course we have to pay for, and to boot, he's asking me to pay him $500 more. Do not ever call HomeAdvisor! Be sure that you are calling a professional. HomeAdvisor absolutely does not send out professional's but rather amateur handy people.
Kenny, did a excellent job on my front door the man is very professional and let it looking like new i would tell everyone to use his business and knowlegable.
Thanks,
Michael Mowers
Charged in advanced. Reschedules and then never showed to reschedule. Wait on my refund and wasted a week for my pool cleaning
I already got a lawn-moving quote for $75 on my own several days before I contacted HomeAdvisor looking for additional quotes. I clicked the button which said I wanted to negotiate my own prices. Regardless they said they found a company willing to do the job for $22. Bull! Within minutes I got called by two local specialists. I found out they pay $29 per lead to HomeAdvisor. No wonder they called so fast. This is working great, I thought. But I also got several emails touting first $10, and then $15 off a quote. I was annoyed since I said I wanted to negotiate on my own.
Then I got a call from a HomeAdvisor worker promising to call around and get the best price. Frustrated, I asked, "Who pays you?" She said HomeAdvisor. I said, "No, I mean who pays HomeAdvisor?" Pause. I said, "The companies?" She said yes. Fine, I said, go ahead. Pause. She came back with $132. With the $15 discount that's still more than I negotiated on my own. And clearly the $22 was a bait and switch scheme. I hung up and unsubscribed from their email. The next day I got more spam offering $15 off. Companies say an unsubscribe order takes a few days, but are lying. It got set up in seconds, and could be stopped in seconds. I blocked their emails and vowed to only use them to get names and ratings and then Google the companies to get their real phone numbers and negotiated directly. That way my local companies don't have to tack on a surcharge to pay for the lead. I started doing this when I negotiated a price with a tree company and then did an online mass request via a company similar to HomeAdvisor. The same tree company I already had a price for got dinged for a surcharge and complained to me. I should have remembered that. Avoid these spam-happy con artists and negotiate on your own.
CasaBella home improvement.
This contractor was one of your recommendations and Flavio was; timely, courteous, and did a really great job I couldn't be more satisfied! This is the second project he has done for us and I would recommend him to anyone.
Thank you Home Advisor!

I am a 90 year old woman who, until this year, have always done my own yard work. This year my walking has become so limited I felt I needed help with spring cleanup of my yard. I contacted Home Advisor hoping to get several possibilities for me to contact. All communication is on line. I was contacted on line with the request that I choose an "appointment time". I assumed this was an appointment to come to my home to see what I needed done and if I wanted to proceed with some very simple leaf blowing for part of my yard. The charge would be $124.48. I chose a time, but later decided to try to find a cheaper bid. I emailed Home Advisor to cancel. Today my bank statement reveals I was already charged. I contacted H. A. for a refund and was told it would be refunded in 3 to 5 days. Strange that the charge could go through in minutes but the refund would take several days. Terrible way to do business!
Craig came to my church & installed 3 blinds. He was very efficient & knew what he was doing. He also has a great sense of humor. We laughed & talked & I was very impressed. The blinds are great quality & will be calling him for more work in the future.
Home Advisor sounds great until you point out the flaws in their system.
In short, a contractor pays per lead. The same lead gets submitted to multiple contractors and you pay whether the customer calls you back or not. HomeAdvisor doesn't necessarily approve credits for misdirected leads. So it is often that a handyman pays for leads which should have went to a licensed plumber, electrician or general contractor.
Home Advisor told me not to worry about the lead fees, but to consider the ROI for my overall participation. I did just that and found that Home Advisor fees accounted for 49% of the gross revenue generated through their program.
I wish home advisor checked their clients as ones like "all superior" are worthless. They offered a bid that was extremely high compared to others received. It would seem that this firm was not interested in doing a small job as the weather had obviously done damage in the area and they wanted only the big ones. I would have acceped a " no bid" as a proper response to my issue. Why are your, home advisor, so low. Don't you care?
Now they're asking for cc info without providing a contractor number or any other info. STAY FAR AWAY.
Bastards charge 28 dollars for each lead, 95% of leads dont answer the phone, and very few call back. The prosess for getting refunded for such leads is limited and difficult. Called to cancell service, they did not, and charged me for another year, called them. Was on hold for over two hours, only to have them tell me they cannot issue a refund. Liars
A company called 24 Hour Service installed a Bream hot water heater at my home on 2/26/2020. It stopped working approximately 2 weeks later. This was at a cost of over $1300. 00. After numerous calls and no response, today they said they could not come out due to the Coronavirus. Funny that other plumbers in the area will come out but of course at a charge. Isn't plumbing an essential service? Next call is Rheam direct and BBB. I noticed HomeAdvisor doesn't have great rating either.
More then half of the leads I have received were not actual leads almost all of them were not asking for any type of service, wrong contact info or even people asking if we were hiring. I have not only paid for the membership but has also cost me 300.00 everyweek because of these fake leads. I really advise people not to trust in home advisor helping grow your buisness. All it is is a very expensive extra bill.
The company Home Advisor Pro and their representative are con artists! Be aware (Warning) it doesn't matter if you respond to a lead job or not, YOU WILL BE CHARGED. Who has time throughout the day to constantly check their Home Advisor Pro app to make sure that you're not being overcharged for lead jobs throughout the day. Also be aware of them just throwing any job at you, my company is into Demolition and they kept sending my Home Advisor App lead jobs that had to do with trash removal! My advise go somewhere else that really care about their customer!
Any place but Home Advisor Pro!

Answer: We had a similar experience when first trying Home advisor out. They kept taking money out of our account arbitrarily. I finally had to file stop payment forms at my bank. Then they threatened us with extra fees unless we "settled" our account. We have strict DTPA laws (deceptive trade practice act) in our state. I advised we complain to our Attorney General about this. I think home advisor should be banned in our state because of this fraud.
Answer: I didn't, they have been blowing my phone up for 6 month's now and now they act like thier desperate for me to sign with them. I have absolutely no want or will i ever sign with them after i have heard what thier doing to contractors who have a contract with them. I just signed with a family owned reality company and even they told me not to sign and even when i tell home advisor i don't want thier business they ignore my request and still call and now they act like thier a home owner requesting painting but once i get to asking where they live or information all of a sudden I'm being told to do a background check and i sign up for free! But i have to pay a percentage of my leads or size of job something of that nature where i pay them for a no guarantee of work as i see it. I can't trust handing money to a company that's being deceitful in a phone call off the rip! Just be careful i don't hear good thing's about them all over now.
Answer: Fake leads, sends email, text & calls between 20-30/day and charges for each. Even if Contractor doesn't open Or answer any calls! Will rip off contractors about $800/day until they catch it and no refunds! Do Not Use HomeAdvisor!
Answer: I don't know about the house cleaners but, I do not trust the company based on my own recent experience.
Answer: You don't know you have to call home advisor and wait on the phone for an hr until they pick up
