The company exhibits a mixed reputation, with notable strengths in customer satisfaction when it comes to specific contractors and service providers, who are often praised for professionalism and quality work. However, significant concerns arise regarding the lead generation service, with numerous customers expressing frustration over poor-quality leads, lack of refunds for invalid contacts, and overwhelming solicitations. Many reviews indicate a decline in service quality following the merger with Angie's List, leading to a perception of the company as unreliable. Overall, while individual service experiences can be positive, systemic issues with lead handling and customer support remain prevalent.

I've been with them 3 times. The second ended badly. Naively, I joined a third time and was burned again. I told them I wanted to control my lead generator and I was sent and charged for leads before I had unpaused them. It appears to me that the whole system favors those that need the professional and not the professionals themselves
They attempted to rip me off big time. They sent fake leads. There were numbers where no one answers the phone. They bill for people looking for price check not even serious buyers. They are not up front with billing process. They make it sound like they will help your business grow, but you end up either breaking even or losing money. This is definitely not the company I would recommend to any contractor or business owner. They will rob you and refuse to refund you. I am warning you do not become a victim of this fraudulent company. Also, they have a pending class action lawsuit against them, and it is obvious why.
New Sliding Door.
Sales person did a great job of selling us on the product plus we had seen it on TV. She was supposed to contact us throughout the job and did not. The men who came to measure--measured incorrectly so door had to go back to Minn.
We started in June, 2018 and the job wasn't done until the Fall of 2019!. The crew that first put it did the job incorrectly so we had to wait for second crew to put it in correctly., You can find another company for less money for this job!
I paid in advance for Home Advisor to send a professional painter to paint 3 basement rooms and the hallway walls. Painter permanently damaged the floors with paint and did a terrible paint job. I do not think the man ever painter before. He was a very nice man, that never painted before. He even got paint on my $900 vanity. He had paint all over himself and the bottom of his shoes. Yes, he tracked paint on my finished floors. HE DID NOT CARE. He paint most of vfc 2 rooms and started painting 1 wall of the 3 room. I left him alone to paint because he would stand there and talk and not work at all. He was paid in advance for 7.5 hours.
Hired home advisor to put a swing together for my daughter. First they only sent 1 person for a 2 person job. Then when it came to reschedule we where told that the 1 person hired to do the job was given a window from 9-5 and and no one ever showed up. We will never use this service again
Yes and be power washing fantastic company did a fantastic job on my house his name is Gary Stone his phone number is *******170 I gave him five stars very polite and did an excellent job so hire him
I had a simple electrical job to fix an outside outlet and an outside light plus install outlet for a above oven microwave and they cancelled on me 3 times on the day of the service.
I lost power on the first day so we rescheduled but even that was difficult
They rescheduled me for Mon. And texted me to cancel on that day
They rescheduled me for Wed then they cancelled on me that day
They rescheduled me for Fri. And guess what... they cancelled on me again that morning.
STRIKE 3 THEY ARE OUT
I was excited to find an organization that would help take the pain out of finding contractors. I booked window cleaning and provided a ton of information on storms, number of windows, how many storeys the house is, etc. They charged my card immediately. Apparently booked someone - who never showed up. I spend ages on hold and trying to find the right number to ask why. Got no answer, but they booked someone else. Who showed up 4 hours late and then said she couldn't do the job, and left. At least they refunded me. But they sat on $300+ for 3 weeks without providing a service. Will never use them again.
We had Ironwood Tree Service LLC remove two pine trees from our yard. One of the trees was dead the other was a large healthy but needed to be removed for other reasons. Sean, the owner, came out, discussed how the removals would be done, how long it would take and how the clean up would be done. The dead tree was quickly removed. The other tree was removed piece by piece. We had several flower beds near the healthy tree, great care was taken and none of those plants were damaged in the tree removal. We had also asked for the stumps to be ground down below ground level, this was done a couple days later and all debris was removed. Sean and his crew were professional, polite and left everything absolutely looking great.
They force leads w/o your consent and then attempt to bill you? I cancelled my CC the second I saw how they lie and yet they still send leads, won't hv a supervisor call me, and constantly lies. This company needs to be sued and I might be the one to do it. Disgusting.
I have been having trouble trying to find a contractor to fix my pool heater. Home Advisor stated for a fixed price they would send a contractor to fix the pool at an agreed upon time. Two days before the appointment they confirmed the appointment. At 6:45 the morning of the appointment they text me that there was a Pro call out and would have to reschedule. First what the hell is a "call out", second why confirm, Third they didn't even have a contractor to do the job. But I paid in advance and yes "$#*! happens". But the next appointment the same thing happened. I can't keep rambling on about the poor customer service. Suffice to say just find your own contractor and stay away from Home Scammers.
Satisfied with repair timly and accurate Recommended to neighbors
Work completed at a fair price, Not paid until job was completed.
They send leads to multiple contractors for work that is already completed and make money on all contractors. Which is fraud
Beware of there service
Randy Reiniger added a wall, a bi-fold door, door casing, texture and baseboards to divide the long L-shaped living room/office and give me more privacy in my home office. His work is excellent! His attention to detail made the wall looks like it was build with the house. I particularly appreciated him taking his time to match the wall texture to the adjoining wall. I would highly recommend him to anyone needing work done inside their home.
With all the ads and emails received, I thought I give Homeadvise a try. Booked a lawn mowing job, straight forward, prepaid, and got the membership. 1st appointment set, the "Pro" can't make it so it was rescheduled for two days later. Meanwhile, got a call and then texted by the PRO asking for additional $$$ and to write them a check when they come out on the rescheduled appointment. I've advised the PRO that the job has been paid and I am not about to double pay for the same job. The PRO never showed and "Daisy" with Homeadvisor customer service was only willing to provide 50% refund for the above incidence.
Normally, I don't do reviews; however, I thought by learning and knowning more info in advance, others wouldn't step into the same trap.
I understand the business model and the concept is nice; however, the reality is just completely different.
Avoid Avoid Avoid!
P.s.: Not by HomeAdvisor. I got myself a local lawn maintenance company to do the job for slightly less $ and it was done the second day after the initial call.
I was searching for heat pump and was forced to enter info. I then clicked to not get connected with pro/advisor. I received no options but 1 for people in my area. Later at 10pm i get a call and text from a pro. I ask to unsubscribe and this is the message I got. I feel bad for the pro, but home advisor is running a shady business forcing consumers to pros!
My partner suggested using them. They said 300$ up front and 30 a month and they would send us leads and only if we accept them do we get charged and it would be deducted from the 300$. LIESSS! Im now 2 months later. We paused our service. Im getting 200 chages every week. Im up to over $1000 in charges and we have yet to recieve ONE actual lead. They will not refund your money, they will send you tones of bad leads and charge you for them wether you accept or not. THESE PEOPLE DESERVE A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT! CALL YOUR BANK AND REPORT FRAUD. I cancelled my account today and they said oh but you still owe us 297$! LIKE WTF! I said im not paying they said "owe dont worry it will go to collections" these people do not give a damm about you, they will charge your cards thousands. THIEVES!
Excellent job, very friendly people, friendly service. Very professional. Would use them again. Thank you
Home advisor: The problem is that you are asking for a spinkler system
Customer: I had 3 to 4 different Home advisor professional referrals to come out, evaluste my currentvirrigation system, maje recommendations and give me an estimate. The drip irrigation and sprinkler systems are still the same after 3 or 4 people coming out.
Question: Does anyone actually know how to set up a home landscape irrigation system which includes all types of irrigation from sprinkler heads to drip irrigation on a timer?
Answer: We had a similar experience when first trying Home advisor out. They kept taking money out of our account arbitrarily. I finally had to file stop payment forms at my bank. Then they threatened us with extra fees unless we "settled" our account. We have strict DTPA laws (deceptive trade practice act) in our state. I advised we complain to our Attorney General about this. I think home advisor should be banned in our state because of this fraud.
Answer: I didn't, they have been blowing my phone up for 6 month's now and now they act like thier desperate for me to sign with them. I have absolutely no want or will i ever sign with them after i have heard what thier doing to contractors who have a contract with them. I just signed with a family owned reality company and even they told me not to sign and even when i tell home advisor i don't want thier business they ignore my request and still call and now they act like thier a home owner requesting painting but once i get to asking where they live or information all of a sudden I'm being told to do a background check and i sign up for free! But i have to pay a percentage of my leads or size of job something of that nature where i pay them for a no guarantee of work as i see it. I can't trust handing money to a company that's being deceitful in a phone call off the rip! Just be careful i don't hear good thing's about them all over now.
Answer: Fake leads, sends email, text & calls between 20-30/day and charges for each. Even if Contractor doesn't open Or answer any calls! Will rip off contractors about $800/day until they catch it and no refunds! Do Not Use HomeAdvisor!
Answer: I don't know about the house cleaners but, I do not trust the company based on my own recent experience.
Answer: You don't know you have to call home advisor and wait on the phone for an hr until they pick up
