The company exhibits a mixed reputation, with notable strengths in customer satisfaction when it comes to specific contractors and service providers, who are often praised for professionalism and quality work. However, significant concerns arise regarding the lead generation service, with numerous customers expressing frustration over poor-quality leads, lack of refunds for invalid contacts, and overwhelming solicitations. Many reviews indicate a decline in service quality following the merger with Angie's List, leading to a perception of the company as unreliable. Overall, while individual service experiences can be positive, systemic issues with lead handling and customer support remain prevalent.

Worst company ever I wouldn't sign up for nothing. They charge you for crap you never even signed up for I plan on calling the BBB to file a formal complaint of fraud.
The worst, lying cheating scammers! Leads are 1/20! Said they won't charge past $270 a month for leads and they charged us $620!
They lie lie lie and rip you off for leads! Most no one will call you back and you get charged $37-59 every time! Do not sign up for membership! Terrible business and should be shut down!
Do not do it. They rip you off and they f*** you over to not end. They're a sleazy company built on a sleazy business model. STAY AWAY. Seriously. Don't do it.
There are 2 kinds of real estate appraisers. Residential Appraisers and General Appraisers.
Because of an apparently deliberate error they list Appraiser - General and Appraiser - Real Estate. This should be Appraiser - Residential. They send Bad Leads to Residential Appraisers for Commercial properties and refuse to refund the lead fees which are very expensive for leads which are prohibited by law for residential appraisers. I warn other residential appraisers not to fall for this rip off.
Sign up and you will pay for fake leads and if you refuse to pay for them, you will be sent to collections. Worst experience I have ever had. Thank God I lived next to a class action attorney who is taking a look at my case.
Just like all the one star reviews say, They send out to at least three contractors the same customer info and in my case 75% of the customers never answered, 20% already found a contractor and the last five told me they never requested a contractor or yes they needed one---a month ago. I never NEVER, received a viable job from any contact sent to me by H. A. I set my alarm on my calendar every week to remind me to put my leads on hold during the last six months because I've heard the misery H. A. put other contractors when trying to cancel membership early. So I lasted the last six months with minimal inconvenience but still feel ripped off. I was polite when I finally cancelled two weeks prior to the end of my year but I will NEVER ever use H. A or Angies List (they are owned by H. A.)
They are absolutely horrible! If you are a contractor, STAY AWAY! YOU WILL LOSE MONEY WITH THESE MORONS! They don't adhere to the budgets you set and then tell you that budget only applies to certain types of leads so they can filter in a bunch of them that don't get accounted for and run up your balance. They were exceeding our budget by 3-4 times of what it was set at. COMPLETE RIP OFF! DO NOT USE! I WISH I COULD GIVE 0 STARS!
As a pro i would like to say this company is a scam, they send leads at 3am claiming its real customers but they are not since i could never get hold of the customers who submitted their requests at 3 am in the morning
I am a contractor. They send me bad leads and charge me an enormous amount for them. No one was real and when I canceled they said I need to wait 15 days and charge me again. A lot of money expend for nothing. Amigos no los contraten. Cobran por cada lead que les mandan asi no tomen el trabajo o no este en el area que ustedes querian. Pesima experiencia. No los contraten.
My company received a call from Home Advisor stating that our company had a driving infraction so we were no longer eligible to advertise with Home Advisor.
What kind of unprecedented excuse of a company does that? To top it off, they now use our company name in their ads on Google!
It is my opinion that Home Advisor is incredibly incompetent to give a home owner any advice at all.
Some company I never even heard of didn't pay a bill that was $17 and I spend $1,000 a month with HomeAdvisor. They put MY account on hold because they said my account was a sister account. I never even heard of this other company. They couldn't give me a reason why we were connected and said my name wasn't on the other account or anything. I never gave them permission to connect me to any other account as the account representative and they said it's up to HomeAdvisor to decide who's account I represent and they won't unlock my account until the other people pay their bill and I can't do anything to disconnect us. Completely irrational to lose $1,000 a month for a $17 bill that isn't even related to me.
They don't give credits for leads. Had one lead one hour and a half away. They won't credit. I like how they put on the bottom of their email. When you win we win.
They will sell you. They will charge your credit cards non stop. They will not stand behind you. Big waste of time and money as a business owner.
My name is Joe Mollric
I own The Septic Surgeons, Inc in Ohio.
I have used Home Adviser for over 5 years years, and currently spend about $6000. 00
A year with them. I work in several Ohio counties, and their out reach is very effective.
I have a "not to exceed figure" per month.
While receiving credits for work that I'm not licensed to perform is time consuming, and costly, they generally agree.
They can't ask me to do something that is illegal.
They get that-most of the time.
My experience, over the years, has been profitable
If the client found me on Home Adviser, I ask them to write a review on my service.
I get really crappy leads often-price shoppers or not the home owner- That's part of doing
Business.
The best leads for me come from referrals, septic pumpers.
I pay a $100 referral fee for each and every one that turns into a paying job.
Being new to the Tampa area & needing a water heater repair I turned to Home Advisor at the suggestion of my girlfriend. Home advisor contractors are vultures. Absolutely none would provide any type of estimate over the phone. I made appointments with two. The 1st Haske plumbing cancelled. The 2nd Cass plumbing is a huge ripoff. I authorized the repair before realizing what a ripoff it was. $264 to replace 2 $10 parts in less than an hour. NEVER EVER US HOME ADVISOR!
This is the most dishonest place I have ever worked for in my entire life they will charge you per lead have the audacity to charge me 51.00 for a cutting grass that's 1000 sq ft really thats a small yard called them 24hrs before I decided to cancel they said I have 297.00 credit in my account a day later there saying I owe them 653.00 That's 953.00 I paid them to use them for 3days not to mention I paid them 300bto set up there horrible and refuse to give you your money please dont use them...
I used this company for leads. Worst idea ever. They are ripoffs. I got charged for the same lead 3 times. For some reason they kept on sending same leads over and over. Most customer are not even ready for projects and they are just shopping around. Be careful
This is absolutely the worse company I have ever worked with. They will change the way they send you leads and then charge you extra money without your permission. The last straw was the new "pay online" feature. They quoted one of my jobs without my permission, charged the customers card, and supposedly scheduled the job. The next thing I know the customers calls to confirm a appointment that I had no idea was suppose to be on my schedule because no one from home advisor bothered to call and schedule it. So I had to rearrange everything to get this poor customer on my schedule because she had already paid for it. It has been over two weeks no one knows where the money is and how I am going to get paid for this job. Do not work with this company!
HA did not provide leads from us and then did not refund money for absolutely no business generated. This is a dishonest company that is just interested businesses hey so I have a fee and then they scam lead fees. It would have taken several new pieces of business to pay for the
Lost more money in lead fees than I made on actual leads. HomeAdvisor does not screen for people who are serious about hiring therefore anyone who's only curious about how much a job will cost will be sent to you as a "quality lead". The contractor will pay hundreds of dollars for leads that will never answer the phone and HomeAdvisor will not credit you for. Giant SCAM!
Answer: We had a similar experience when first trying Home advisor out. They kept taking money out of our account arbitrarily. I finally had to file stop payment forms at my bank. Then they threatened us with extra fees unless we "settled" our account. We have strict DTPA laws (deceptive trade practice act) in our state. I advised we complain to our Attorney General about this. I think home advisor should be banned in our state because of this fraud.
Answer: I didn't, they have been blowing my phone up for 6 month's now and now they act like thier desperate for me to sign with them. I have absolutely no want or will i ever sign with them after i have heard what thier doing to contractors who have a contract with them. I just signed with a family owned reality company and even they told me not to sign and even when i tell home advisor i don't want thier business they ignore my request and still call and now they act like thier a home owner requesting painting but once i get to asking where they live or information all of a sudden I'm being told to do a background check and i sign up for free! But i have to pay a percentage of my leads or size of job something of that nature where i pay them for a no guarantee of work as i see it. I can't trust handing money to a company that's being deceitful in a phone call off the rip! Just be careful i don't hear good thing's about them all over now.
Answer: Fake leads, sends email, text & calls between 20-30/day and charges for each. Even if Contractor doesn't open Or answer any calls! Will rip off contractors about $800/day until they catch it and no refunds! Do Not Use HomeAdvisor!
Answer: I don't know about the house cleaners but, I do not trust the company based on my own recent experience.
Answer: You don't know you have to call home advisor and wait on the phone for an hr until they pick up
