Once you book through their portal, no changes can be made afterwards. The company that I booked through their portal did not give me the car as I did not have a credit card and they weren't accepting debit card for a deposit. I told them to add my friend as an additional driver, or change to main driver, who had credit card in her name but initially they used as an excuse that they can't accept it as it is issued in UK and she has different nationality (she is living in UK hence the UK card).
HolidayCars also mentioned the following once I complained:
"Unfortunately it's not possible to add an additional driver upon arrival as a lead driver. To change the lead driver's name, a new reservation has to be made as a new rental agreement has to be made as well. This is not possible anymore at time of pickup because the supplier is not able to make any changes since the reservation was made through HolidayCars.com. "
Of course, they haven't provided me with the T&C mentioning that it's not possible to add an additional driver upon arrival.
Instead in their website's supplier conditions they state the following:
"additional driver
Additional drivers can be added to your rental for a charge of 8.54 EUR per day. Maximum 128.1 EUR. Includes 22% tax. Please pay for additional drivers at the rental desk when picking up your vehicle."
It has been one month now and still no answer from them for refund of a service that they did not provide.
I hired a car at Palma airport, prebooked with HolidayCars.com. The voucher was for Record Go and we were told that we could return the car full or otherwise there would be charges. Our credit card was charged for a full tank of fuel (55.95) and a handling charge of 24. We filled the tank just outside the airport and dropped it off with the Record Go attendant, informing him that the tank was full. He kept the paperwork and told us that we would be reimbursed within 48 hours. When I checked the credit card statement we had been reimbursed only about half and were out about £35. Getting any information from HolidayCars.com was very slow and we are now informed that we needed to supply the fuel receipt when we returned the car, otherwise the charges are as signed for. They charge by the 1/8 tank yet we have been charged for ¼ tank that was completely full. We have supplied HolidayCars.com with the credit card statement that is timed and dated but they are refusing to budge. This is a rip-off charge aided and abetted by the incompetent Record Go attendant. I will not use either again and cannot recommend them.
All I can say is ****BUYER BEWARE***** I booked through Kayak ON 2/15/18 and I thought I was booking through Thrifty, which the website stated. I made a huge mistake when it took me to a third party site, Holidaycars.com. I should have known better when it asked me for my credit card but I wanted to make sure I had a car reserved. I booked the car for three days at LAX. My wife informed me later that we could use my daughters car for two days so I needed to change the reservation. I could not get through to Holidaycars.com and could not change the reservation on their website. When I arrived at Thrifty I again stated that I needed to change the reservation to one day but they spend an hour and could not. They gave me a new reservation. When I dropped the car off I again notified them that I needed to change the reservation. The agent said he took care of it. On my credit card I saw that I had been charged for three days from Holidaycars.com and one day from Thrifty. After numerous calls to both, Holidaycar.com is based in the Netherlands, they noted their fine print and would not reimburse me. Therefore, trying to save a only a few dollars costed me $177. I thought by using a legit website like Kayak and car company like Thrifty I would be protected but I was wrong. I can only tell you about my experience so you can make your own determination.

I rented a car through them for my annual vacation. Everything was fine until the Governor of Nevada closed all the hotels due to the corvid-19 virus, this cancelled my trip so I tried to cancel my reservation. They allowed me to cancel it but charged me a 25% cancellation fee. They say it is in my paper work but I have it all and it is not. There is even a place that says to "Please carefully read the supplier's rental agreement to make sure you fully understand it before signing." I did read it multiple times and still have a copy, this fee is not in there.
There is another place where it says ". We have listed on your voucher what the price paid to HolidayCars.com includes and what it does not include." All the voucher says it includes is a car and excludes collision damage. No where does it say there is a cancellation fee or the ability to avoid it but buying something - which they now say I should have bought.
They are talking advantage of this disaster and are thieves and liars that are making up stuff after the fact.
Money was withdrawn from my account for a car that is unavailable.
There were no cars available at all, had to take taxi.

I can't believe this company is still operating. Companies like this one literally deserved to be shut down and out of business. The people who run this company should be thrown in jail and i am not over exagerrating either. Look at all the reviews regarding the pandemic. They are refusing refunds on car rentals that were clearly cancelled due to the pandemic. You think during a crisis they would be showing the utmost best customer service bust instead it is the complete opposite. They are doing everthing they can to hold and refuse people their money back and that is exactly what they did with me.
First you can't even speak to someone, they shut off their phone line so you can only email. I emailed them hours before my car rental. I didn't think their would be an issue obviously because of the pandemic. They followed up with me the next day saying i emailed them hours after my car rental which is completely false. My pick up was 12:30, i emailed them 915am in minnesota. They are one hour a head. This is sickening.
I would urge every single person to leave a bad review, report them to the business bureau and attorney general. These guys should be SUED! ABSURD!
This company sells you a deal on a car rent and only AFTER checks if the deal is actually available and then will let you know within 48 hours if they can deliver on that deal. That's a business model you as a costumer can only rely on IF YOU BOOK AT LEAST 2 DAYS IN ADVANCE. If you're not, don't rent through them. I booked same day only to find out at the car pickup that the car was not there and I was forced to rent a car there FOR A VERY HIGH PRICE.
On top of that I did not get informed that the car hire did not come through in any way, and so far I've not been refunded any money.

All our car rental offers are on request available only and with most car rental suppliers a prepayment is mandatory to create a reservation. It could take 48 hours to get a final status update from the supplier, which means it could take maximum 48 hours before the reservation will be confirmed or denied.
In case the selected car rental offer has not been available, or could not be confirmed on time, we will provide you a full refund to your bank account if no alternative could be found or is accepted.
If this has not yet happend, please contact us and mention your reference number so we can further check out the refund proces and make sure everything is being handled correctly.
Furthermore I would indeed advise you to book a rental car via an online broker like us, at least 72 hours in advance.

I made a reservation thru HolidayCars for a rental just before Covid hit. Due to Covid, my trip was cancelled. HolidayCars issued credit which could be used indefinitely. However, when I tried to use the credit, HolidayCars says that they cannot honor the credit. Here are the replies from them:

I rented a car from Advantage through holidaycars.com and when i arrived the Advantage Rep lied to me and upcharged me for the very same class of vehicle i had already paid for. In the end, i did get a car for our vacation, but the price i paid was above what i would have paid for a top-end vehicle which we definitely did not get. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. If I could give a 0 star I would. We booked a car through holiday cars for our trip to Cyprus. When we arrived at the airport it was unclear that the pick up location was not in the airport but you needed to get a shuttle. After finally contacting the shuttle driver and getting to the local car service that was booked through holidays cars we were disgusted at the car that brought out to us. Firstly it was NOT the car we booked, and secondly it was in the WORST condition. Oil spills on the back footwell, filthy, old and in a condition that looked dangerous to drive. We got a letter from the rep saying that we should receive a full refund. We immediately emailed Holiday Cars who said they will make "an exception to the general policy and provide a full refund", and that it will take from 21-28 days. It has now been over 2 months and when I contacted Holidays Cars they started making excuses saying there was never a guarantee for a refund. Then blaming the merchant and so on. I have been the one to contact them each time and they have taken no responsibility. Each reply is another excuse of why we haven't received our refund.
Do yourself a favor and book directly through a reputable company.

The rental car you see at our website is an example of the rental car within selected category and could not be guaranteed. Only the category rental car could be guaranteed.
Do not use this company. This is my experience: booked a car rental in 2020 for Ireland and prepaid. Canceled due to COVID. Funds held as "future credit." I tried rebooking a year later with the credit. I paid more due to an increase in prices. A few days pass, Holidaycars says prepaid credit cannot be applied due to an internal error, and instructed me to pay remaining balance for new rental. I refused, asked to be refunded all money paid. Never issued a refund directly despite multiple email communications promising a refund in "10-15 days." I disputed the more recent charge with my credit card company and was issued a credit (from my bank) for that amount. I'm still out over $200 because the initial charge in 2020 is outside the bank's time frame for disputes. Holidaycars has told me to provide all my bank account information (including account and routing numbers) to their accounting department to receive a refund for the 2020 amount. I've received no replies from this phantom accounting department after multiple attempts. Unfortunately, Holidaycars is more of a scam than a rental car agency in my experience, and I would gladly pay double not to deal with them in the future.
This is our first ever negative review! We rented a car through Holidaycars.com in January 2023 for an April trip to Salta Argentina. The rental company at Salta was CDO. Pickup was at 9:00 at the airport. When we arrived, we found out that there was no CDO office at the airport. From other rental companies at the airport, we learned that CDO shows up at the airport with a car. Nobody from CDO was there at the confirmed time. We had prepaid the rental but we could not reach CDO. A very kind person from a reputable rental company also tried contacting CDO for us but to no avail. We were about to give up and rent from them when CDO finally showed up one hour late. He had parked the car between 2 other cars and quickly showed us some scratches on the hubcaps. The rest appeared good but the evaluation was rapid and difficult because of the cars parked on both sides. When we returned the car, the CDO man went straight for the driver side door and pointed to a barely visible scratch and asked for 40,000 pesos in cash. This did not happen while we had the car. It was always parked in a secured lot and when we did park in a public place, one of us always stayed with the car. We had a plane to catch and no time for arguing so we paid by credit card (132$ Canadian). At least he did not pocket the money. From now on we will stay away from Holidaycars and go through a well known reputable car rental company. In Posadas Argentina 10 days later, we had no problems with the Budget agency.
Horrible Service!
Our flight was delayed and we didn't end up landing until shortly after midnight, which is after closing time. I tried calling ahead of time (during business hours) to alert the company of the delays but I wasn't able to get through to anyone. It continued routing me through automated responses with no ability to speak to anyone or even the option to leave a voice message. The automated message only gave me the option to send an email, which I did.
Since we weren't able to rent the car I had to rent from an alternate company. All I asked for from HolidayCars was a refund for the car I was never able to rent. I didn't receive any feedback from the first couple of emails I sent. Then I finally received a response almost 2 weeks later, informing me that they would not refund me for anything... despite the fact I contacted them alerting them of the delays and never even acquired the car.
Whenever trying to call to get in contact with anyone in customer service I never get a response, no matter if it is in the morning, mid-day, or evenings during "business hours".
I would strongly encourage anyone contemplating renting through HolidayCars to NOT DO SO! In the event you run into any issues or travel delays you will not be reimbursed or be able to contact anyone to notify them.

This is a European based company and they do not accommodate the advice of US government health officials (federal, state or local) on Covid-19 when handling US-based reservations. My husband had contacted them multiple times to refund his upcoming pre-paid car rental in Orlando, but HolidayCars has refused to provide the full refund he requested.
The need to cancel his car reservation is not due to personal preference but because of the coronavirus pandemic. I am writing this on March 29. The resort he booked from April 6-10 has closed and his reservation was canceled. He has no place to stay in Florida! In addition, his age (67), reduced immunity from cancer treatments and diabetes means that he is at high risk of Covid-19 complications and his medical providers have advised him not to leave home for the next few months.
HolidayCars offered to credit my husband with a future rental but this company is not trustworthy, and we will not do business with them again. From now on, we will rent directly from an AMERICAN car rental company which are known for providing superior customer service. I advise all other Americans to do the same!

I had to cancel a trip in 2020 due to COVID. I accepted a credit for that, hoping to rebook. The total cost was $472.40. Several months ago, I decided to use that credit when booking another trip. Not only did they not let me use the credit, they asked me to pay for a portion of this new rental ($117.84), which I did. They offered to refund the money I paid to my bank account afterwards. That was upsetting, so I wrote in to their customer service email. They cancelled that reservation and said a refund was coming. They also offered to refund me the original $472.40 if I filled out wire transfer information and sent it to an email address at the BookingMonkey.com domain. I did this on June 24th, 2021 and have received nothing, not even a response. I have tried to contact them several times after the original request and nothing. Customer service says they can't access their accounting systems because it's based in Switzerland. Now their phones are down, nobody is responding via email, and there's a message on their website about their insolvency problems. And I guess I'm out nearly $500.

If you notice the positive reviews are all from very recently, clearly made in an effort to boost their image and clearly made by people who were either coerced or have never used the service.
I used this company to book a rental for a trip to Honolulu after finding them through my employer-sponsored discount links. I brought the invoice details with me during the travel, and wasn't expecting there would be any issue. I couldn't recall which car rental company they secured for the rental (the invoice doesn't say), so I went to each one; the car rental representatives only ask for your first and last name. None of them could find any rental through Holidaycars. I attempted to call the number on the invoice, which isn't even a working line! I attempted to search for my rental information on Holidaycars.com using the invoice number, first name and last name and email address, and none of my booking information was ever documented!
It's like they just took the money and ran. We assumed this to be a scam and are now disputing the $230 charge with our bank. We had to come $450 out of pocket to pay for ANOTHER car rental directly through the rental company (Avis). My advice is to do this every time; do not bother going through shady 3rd party companies.

Unfortunately debit cards are not accepted by the local car rental supplier you requested your rental car with. You could find this information in your online reservation and at your voucher. If you can not meet the rental conditions upon arrival, the car rental supplier may cancel your request and charge a full cancellation fee. I'm very sorry to inform you, but we do not get a refund confirmed for this situation.

Unfortunately very bad experience. Quite confusing and complicated website. Vehicles that are not really available are also offered. Overcomplicated terms of conditions. I have been waiting for the shuttle bus for almost 45 minutes. Then was told at the desk of car rental provider that there is no reservation like mine in their database. So I decide to make a new reservation for the same car directly in the office. But there was no car like this, only other and worse models. They offered me another vehicle, of course, at a higher price. It was late night and friend of mine was already waiting for me in the next city, so I agreed. Suddenly this particular car rental was not able to accept my card for the payment. Then I take Uber to the airport, went to a Europcars, rent the exact car I wanted with no probs using the same card. After my trip I asked StealidayCars for a refund of my "non existing" reservation. Surprisingly I was told they are not able to refund me, because I have already agreed the terms of conditions. They probably did not even ivestigate the case. Sorry but seems like a cheap trick to me. Definitely a sad experience and also hope my last with StealidayCars.

Thank you for your message. I'm sorry you have not been able to use the reservation for your rental car. My colleague is already working on your case and asked our booking partner to make an exception and provide a refund. We are awaiting the final solution for this.
I would like point out, that it is possible to modify your booking until the requested moment of pick up. After this moment, we unfortunately don't have facilities to change your reservation in the reservation system from us, nor the local supplier. Additional driver can always be added to the rental contract as second driver, as long as the rental conditions are met. These terms and conditions are provided to you, prior and during the reservation proces, as well as at the voucher. The second driver can not be added as lead driver, after the requested moment of pick up.
Unfortunately if the lead driver does not have a credit card, the reservation for the rental car can not be used and a new booking needs to be made.
Herewith I hope to have provided you with more clear information. Once we got an update in regards to your refund request, we will let you know.
