Take advice and book directly with a car hire company. I have done this previously and just this time booked with search engine being an emergency situation.
My partner had to travel to south africa urgently due to a family emergency. Whilst she was getting ready, i booked a car through their site on my credit card for collection the following day following her overnight flight. Only when i confirmed the payment you get a message saying that you need the credit card that was used to purchase the hire with. My partner took my credit card as well as all the other required documents including her own credit card as proof of ID.
Well, i tried calling the customer services of holiday suto who was very poor in speaking english, did not listen or understand what i was saying. What could have been a simple five minute chat turned into a 15 minute row as you could not speak any clearer.
The call center is based in the philippines, english not being one of their job descriptions to have a job there.
I have now lost my money in dealing with these people as they have refused to refund my money. I will take it further. As i said, you get the "must have" warnings only after you book it. An error maybe, but what the hell could be so difficult when my partner has all her own documents and proof of ID. Even if they change the booking details, considering what the situation was. I just paid for the car. What happens when a company books the car for an employee travelling on a company business card. The employee wont take the business card.
Take advice and stay away from this website. Cheaper is not always best.

This company has no soul

This company has robbed my entire rental car money just because I had a debit card and not a credit card to pay the rental agency for the deposit. They said the money is lost!

Will not book again

I was 2 hours late because there was a delay with our luggage. We did not get our car since they cancelled and we didn't receive any refund!

After cancelling they send you mails for a request. You answer and you get the answer from Holidayautos:
This account is not manged. I have send about 30 mails. Their adress in Munich is a fake adress.
You do not get back your money! Be carefull!

WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT BOOK THROUGH THIS WEBSITE!

I've always used Priceline to book my car rentals and this was the first time that they transferred me to another company - Holiday Autos. It was nothing but trouble trying to book as it would say "Booking Confirmed" after entering in your credit card and then minutes later you would receive an email saying that it was 'cancelled'.

I finally got it to work and received an email saying it was confirmed. As I am boarding the plane, I receive an email saying that my reservation is cancelled but I check my credit card and I've been charged three times.

The online help system for Holiday Autos is a joke! They put you in a hold system where they hope you will give up. Then the representative tells me that I wasn't charged even when I send screenshots of the charges.

Save yourself the hassle and stress; book elsewhere.

They stole my money 456 euors and did not give me a car
I Booked a car with holiday autos and they did not pay my money back, We i reached to pick up the car with SIXT cars, at union station DC, USA, The lady did not have a car to give me. The ladies who worked at Sixt cars were also rude. They did not have a car to give me. So they mentioned I was late to pick up the car, but I stood right there and called Sixt call center and they booked the same car that i booked and it was available at the same Sixt car center at union station and they still did not want to give the car even when I see the car in front of me. They still told there was no car available. So they mentioned on holiday autos that I was late, I have provided all the evidence to Holiday Auto and they still did not want to release my money even when I did not pick up the car. I have communicated several email and their answer to me is so show them the evidance that i was there on time, so i have told them that my friend dropped me by car and i showed them that i had made two bookings with sixt and the cars where not given to me, I show them that i later booked with heartz and I had rented the car but they still don't believe me. In Conclusion Holiday Autos are there to steal your money and not to give you any car. All the good reviews they have about holiday autos are Fake.

Total con when you book cars through this search engine. They mislead on the excess insurance on offer which basically covers excess dame limitation.
You pay them BUT you still get your credit card blocked for up to £750 from the company they actually lay the booking off to who in turn lay the booking off to another company.
So when you book at Gatwick it's from Car Rentals to Holiday Autos to Easirent. All take a a slice of the pie and all wnat covering with insurance.
Who says big business isn't a scam. DONT USE CARRENTALS.CO.UK and in fact the other two HOLIDAYAUTOS.COM.as they are all in it together
What a shame that they all still have their fingers in the pie and all mislead you when you just want an honest booking for a holiday.

HORRIBLE COMPANY

Ran into problems with creditcard. We couldn't change or cancel the booking because the holiday auto's website didn't work. Ended up paying for a car we couldn't even use and had to change our holiday plans. They will NEVER refund you. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY.

DO NOT USE - Refuses refunds despite stating that they have free cancellation. We all know life isn't great at the moment with all this covid pandemic causing cancellations of holidays etc but we used Holiday Autos because they have free cancellations; however, we have tried to get money returned to a credit card and they outright refused and have offered Vouchers... WARNING... DO NOT ACCEPT THE VOUCHERS... Their terms and conditions for the vouchers are biased strongly in their favour.
This is the first of many bad reviews I'll be leaving for them.
After reading similar BAD reviews around their refund policy, their replies asked the reviewers to get in contact with them. We have and we had a absolute refusal to honour the refund to the credit card.

I have used holiday autos many times in the past with no issues but recently they SCAMMED us. Together with Centauro in Lisbon.

We went through hell getting to Lisbon with tons of cancellations and delays. We kept in touch with them throughout the entire ordeal letting them know we would be late for pick up.

NEITHER party allow us to literally just leave the car on the lot and allow us to still pay for the unused day due to our flight delays. They completely cancelled our reservation with no refund. We showed up the following day and they said NO. Both Centauro and Holiday Autos.

We rented it for the entire month at a crazy price but we needed it. All they had to do was allow us to pick it up the following day but they didn't allow it! They took our money and ran off.
AVOID BOTH AT ALL COSTS!

We rented through Holiday Autos, which paired us up with Easirent. After series of horrible experiences (below) Holiday Autos didn't respond to my reports.

Easirent is a scam company. They were very hard to rent from, seemed shady, and our car broke down on the third day of a 10 day rental. They left us stranded for a full day on the side of the road - we finally left the keys with a tow driver they sent 8 hours later who had no idea what to do with it. We had to go our own way and rent another car from another company. Easirent further claimed that it was because deisel was put in the engine, which was most certainly not the case, as attributed by the receipts I have, and the attestation of the tow driver. Not only did they waste an entire day of our vacation, they charged us for the 10 full days, and claim we owe another $600 for tow and repairs. I have since read dozens of similar stories about Easirent on travel forums. It is a scam company.
We rented through Holiday Auto, which is damaging its own reputation by representing them.

I have had a very bitter experience with holiday autos and Sixt combined. Booked a vehicle for 2 weeks from Manchester airport. Email said I had to take my licence, credit card and passport. On arrival I was asked for a second proof of address by Sixt which I did not have on me. As a result they cancelled my booking and left me high and dry late at night and refused to give a car. I did manage to get my credit card bill as second proof of address after about 30 minutes but I was told by Sixt guy that he had already cancelled my booking stating I had failed the address check.

I then contacted holiday autos. They did not answer the phone despite me being on phone for 30 mins. I sent them messages on twitter which were responded to the next day stating that I would not get any refund as it was my fault for not producing the second proof of address.

I feel like I have been conned by both Holiday autos and Sixt together. I have lost £300 as a result of a small technicality. Holiday autos refused to refund anything or cancel the booking. I feel like I have paid them for car and added insurance for nothing.

I would never use holiday autos or Sixt ever again. Previous experience with Hertz was very good and smooth without all the fuss of 2nd proof of address.

Take every opportunity to charge more

I rented a car for almost a month using this company. Everything went as expected, so I decided to rent a second vehicle from them.
Since my airline changed my itinerary I called the rental company directly and asked them to hold my car. They were very courteous and reprogrammed my pickup time. They confirmed this with an email.
Unfortunately I had to cancel my trip and 26 hours before my scheduled arrival I called Holiday to cancel my reservation.
First, they told me that they would charge $60 dollars because I was cancelling less than 48 hs before. I told them that they Terms & Conditions specified 24 hs, not 48 hs. Then, they said that I was cancelling 20 hs in advance. I explained to them that I had changed my pickup time and that I had an email from the rental company. They said that I should had called them to change the pickup time and not the rental company. I asked them where in their Terms or in their website was this specified and their answer was was I should had know this!
I even asked to talk to a supervisor but I was told that non was available. In the end they did charged me the $60 dlls!
Be careful with this guys! They'll charge you for whatever they can! Really bad company!

Unfortunately my experience with Holiday Autos site is very bad. Firstly I rented a car from Holiday Autos site that provided Green Motion's company as local supplier in Gdansk in Poland.
When we arrived to Gdandsk in 27-12-2019 we surprised at Green Motion had no office in Gdansk airport. So we phoned them then one of the employees came after 20 minutes to pick us from the airport to their office location. There we agreed on that he would meet us on our departure day, 1-1-2020, before our flight at the same place to pick us again to the airport, the same way we came from the airport.
We did exactly what we agreed on together. We waited beside the office 45 minutes, which was locked with t. V on. No answer, more than 7 calls on his phone numbers that say 24/7 active lines and I sent more than 2 messages. Then we had to take the decision to head off to the airport and parked the car in airport parking. 6 hours after, the employee called us to know location of the car without apologizing even. After 2 hours Green Motion company sent email to me saying at they charged me 73,80 EUR as penalty for at the vehicle has not been left in the designated place. At the same time, Amount of 74 EUR was also deducted from my credit card balance av. I tried to contact them but they didn't answer. Then I reported a complaint (PL*******, case: *******) to Holiday Autos site which after one and half month said at they can't do anything! Now I will report my bank for at I have all documents that support my case.

Holiday Autos are basically dishonest liars, they extorted me for money and near ruined our holiday I booked a car specifically for 2am airport collection. I was charged an extra fee for out of hours collection. I got to their local representative desk before 2am and it turns out the had been closed since midnight, leaving me and my family stranded, a 2 hour drive from our hotel. I rented an expensive Hertz car for the night and returned the next day pretty angry with them. They were initially apologetic, claiming they had not received notice of my arrival time from the UK office. They agreed they would eventually refund the extra day and the late booking fee and cover my additional transport expenses. I put my claim through back in the UK and eventually received a message claiming that they had waited until 2am for me to arrive and that when I didn't show they went home, therefore they refused to refund any money at all. This was a complete lie as they had already verbally admitted to my face that they had not been there at the time. They basically said I had to prove I was at the desk before 2am. I'm not sure how you prove that if there was no-one at the desk to record me being there. Complete con. By all means use them if you must, they are cheap and nasty, but if you've seen this, then don't bother complaining when you get shafted, you were warned.

Mis sold insurance

After 14hours of transport with airplane, we come to realisation that our booking was never handled even tho everything was paid. When called they tried to make us pay on the spot and we would get refund in 20days (by the reviews this would not happen). Then they tried to shorten our rental for two days and not return anything - and we would have to pick up the car a day later because there is no car available. The women at the desk told is they have a car for us, the company just needs to send the voucher. I RECOMMEND STAY AWAY FROM THIS.

AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE. In addition to the cost of hire I paid for full insurance cover. The supplier was Record Go at Palma Airport (Mallorca). Needless to say they asked for (a) further payment as it was a 'special car' (Jaguar F-Pace) so the cost of hire doubled. Further, they did not recognise the additional cover I bought so had to buy further insurance with Record Go. WITHOUT DOUBT THE WORST CAR HIRE EXPERIENCE since the last time I used HolidayAutos. NEVER EVER AGAIN.
