H&M's reputation is marred by significant customer dissatisfaction, primarily stemming from poor customer service and issues related to order fulfillment. Many customers report receiving incorrect items, experiencing lengthy delays, and facing challenges with returns and exchanges, often feeling unsupported by the customer service team. Although the quality of the clothing is generally appreciated, the company's policies and execution appear to detract from the overall shopping experience. This disconnect between product quality and service reliability has led to a growing sentiment of frustration and disappointment among customers, prompting many to reconsider future purchases.

My Mom and I went to the store on May 9, 2017.We qued in line for payment and when it got to my mom's turn, she give out hundred and the cashing machine got stuck after the cashed put in the money.so my mom have to wait for like 20 mins over there at the corner while the shoppers from behind pass by.my mom dun wanna wait anymore so she give the casher the exact price and changes and want to take back the hundred and go. But the casher say he can't do it. I totally understand things like this happen but he didn't even feel sorry for the trouble or act like he didn't care and be cool. I m a huge H&M fan, most of my outfits are from H&M but this experience was just a disappointment. I hope no other shoppers experience such a bad service in future.
I just had a very poor experience with Edwin of customer service at H&M. My husband returned mail order items to the Friendship Heights store of Wash. DC and was told that he had to have the exact credit card that was used for the purchase. Instead, he was given a store credit. When I reported this to customer service, I was told that the same card used for the purchase must be used for returns. Since I had the receipt in from of me, I asked him to show me where that appears. His reply was that it tells you on the receipt to go to their website. This is a clear abuse of a customer. Moreover, he insisted that the only way to have my money returned was to go directly to the store. Another clear abuse. This is a company that exercises poor ethics. My guess is that young shoppers are taken advantage of on a routine basis. The leaders of this company and its Board of Directors should be ashamed.
I had just checked out of my shopping bag to proceed to purchase my items. I clicked on pay pal to submit my payment information, once I hit "complete order" the order didn't go through and went back to the main page. So I clicked on my shopping bag and one item was missing, the one item that I wanted to purchase in the first place. So I go to the item, and low and behold it was SOLD OUT. SO I decided I can go up a size since I loved the item so much, but I wanted to see just how big their size was... Let me tell you, I spent 2 hours looking for a women's shoe size chart. There is none, only for kids. I even googled for one. Nothing. 2 hours later, I decided I will get them 1 size up and buy an insole. Doesn't the same freaking thing happen? I hit complete purchase, get redirected and turns out THAT size is now SOLD OUT! WTF, they need to not allow you to actually complete a purchase before you can find out the shoe is sold out, what a waste of my day.
I sent a message to customer service, and their rep responded that basically too bad, things get sold out, call customer service to find one in store and you can go get it within 24 hours, if they have one.
First of all I am shopping online for a reason. I don't want to go to the stores.
Second, I am not going to drive over an hour away to get a shoe, you can deliver it to me! That wasn't an option by the way.
What an annoying website, seriously, don't waste your time shopping online. Somehow there are mass buyers manipulating their online system and clearing out popular sizes and most probably selling them on ebay.
Save your money. Shop at Zara! It never happens there, and if an item sells out they advise you that they will email you when it is back in stock, AND they have a freakin size chart!
Website is an awful ecommerce experience. It doesn't allow you to ship your order as a gift or to another address.
I bought items on sale that were final sale. I picked dresses my size 36 and even larger (my size is usually 32-34). YES I AGREE the price was good but the dresses are sewn with awkward pattern (above bust where dress connects to shoulders/arms) stretches and too small that you cannot even raise your arms. I went for exchange BUT no they did not accept. It is the same issue with my friend
's purchases too. Too disappointed with H and M. Would not recommend to anyone. This was the location in Laurier Québec, 2700 Boulevard Laurier, Québec City, QC G1V 4K5.
Bought a dress, got home n noticed a sensor was left on my dress. Returned the following day, Abdul was the worst. He never greet me or my daughter but continued a conversation with his coworker instead. Not a hello, may I help you nothing. His entire demeanor was rude and cold. I will not be back..
I purchased shirt from the store 2-3 weeks ago and forgot that I had it in my car, so I changed my mind and wanted to return it. So I went to the store and was told that used item cannot be returned. I never wore it. So manager told me it smell perfume and cannot be taken back. I tried to explain that it never was worn, but he would not listen to me. So I left and called customer service in Chicago and was told that they cannot obey store rules and item cannot be returned. I don't know maybe when customer try item they gave perfume on. Maybe be after each try on they should dry clean it, other wise this company will have problems. So people, before u planning to by anything from this store----think about it, or u will stock with merchandise u don't need or ever going to wear. I will never shop at this store
I ordered swimsuits in the mail seeing that everything was returnable in store. I tried on one out of the 4 swimsuits bottoms I purchased and realized that they were too small. I went to return the swimsuits at the store and I was told I could only return the tops. 3 swimsuit bottoms still remained un-opened and I was still unable to return them due to sanitary reasons. I was told I needed to read the fine fine print where it said they don't take back bathing suit bottoms. I understand the concept but what I don't understand is that I was the only person to try on this one swimsuit (with underwear) meanwhile the remaining suits sit in the store and get tried on over and over again until sold. This is the only store I have seen do this and it's irritating that it is not advertised where a buyer can see it when making a purchase. Now I'm left with 4 swimsuit bottoms that don't fit and cannot be returned, thanks H&M!
Overall, the thinks are brilliant. Everyone knows the quality of H&M. But sometimes the service is not that ok, it fells like they could love their clients more. Don't know, maybe it just seems to me so...
I've got a lot of clothes from here. It's convenient, stylish and fashionable. Ordered here for several times, so I can easily say that it's ok. Managers are so different but all in all the shop is one of those I'm planning to visit again.
Afternoon shift very rude manager at Conestoga mall Waterloo, Ontario she needs more training she should know what she is there for.
When I went there the other day with my mom, to shop for my brother we saw a jacket we really wanted to get him. We checked everywhere for his size, but the only oe left was on the maniquin. We went to ask an associate if we could take it down and put up a different one but they said "Oh, we don't take things off our maniqiuins, But we can put you on the waiting list." my mom and I were very upset ad felt the need to share this wth the world
I brought some jeans online from there plus size section, now the few times Iv shopped there Iv be able to fit in their normal clothing but I am bigger on the bottom then on the top half, so unsure what the sizing is really like, I odered my jeans the next size up (uk 22) thinking they would definitely fit me. The day they arrived I ran up to my room to try them, but I couldn't get them past my knee, I was upset and angry with myself. But I thought I couldn't of put on weight as the rest of my clothes that are smaller fit me just fine, so I sized them up to my nans size 14 jeans, shocked to see they are both the same size! No wonder I couldn't get them past my knee! So disheartened! Iv put a complaint in and I'm waitting to hear back!. But only after that I saw all the bad reviews they have, if I had know this I wouldn't of gone there! I find it very stupid as a plus size girl I can't fit into their plus size section yet I can fit into their normal tops just fine! It's ridiculous.
I love most their style. Glad I can get it online because I don't bother with the store front any longer due to long dressing room line & cashout line.
I usually enjoy shopping at H&M, so I was excited when their site finally allowed you to order online. That excitement however, was short lived. I order a top when they had a free shipping promo. I entered the code and it showed shipping as free, but reviewing my purchase now, they've charged me the &7.99 shipping fee. They also don't allow you to return online purchases in store, so you're stuck with what you buy unless you the the hassle and want to pay for return shipping. I won't order from here again
When it comes to customer service I always picture someone with A very outgoing, bright personality and very friendly but every time I go to the H&M at MOA the associates verily notice you and when in Cashwrap they instead of focusing with the customer they have side conversations. I'm not exaggerating it's for real, I was at Apache mall in Rochester MN two weeks ago and the guy working in the men side was nice not as bad as MOA he greeted me only the girl in cash wrap was a little obnoxious because she had an attitude of I don't really want to be here. I mean like who hires them and recruits them. They should be working in the back room I think that's where they belong.
Dont buy H&M online. No in-store return. Have to pay all money for shipping back for return. Since H&M carries so many cheap clothig and you know. It is 50:50, if you buy 10 clothes, some of these are really $#*!ty when you actually wear it. So disappointed return policy.
In all the years I've been to H&M I've had a few snags but nothing catastrophic. I can fit a size 6 across most clothing stores and H&M does pretty good with that size for me. Sometimes it's a little loose though, so I don't know what's up with that. They have good sales online and in store and during one shopping trip I can usually find 2-3 things I absolutely love and have to have so that works for me.
Never shop at H&M online! I live in the country and do a lot of shopping online and have had reasonable experiences until H&M. I ordered a Jacket for my granddaughter at $17, on sale, $35 full price. The order went through and then a few days later I got an email from H&M stating that the order was cancelled - they were out of stock. I checked the website and it was still available, so I called customer service (that's what they call it!). They apologized and gave me a discount code for 25% off full price and free shipping. This brought the cost to almost the same as the on sale price, so I placed an order. A couple of days later I received an email stating the order was cancelled as the item was again out of stock. It was still on the website. I called customer service again and was told it was really out of stock. I told them I didn't believe it and I would reorder the jacket at full price and then contact them again for a discount when it was shipped. This order was cancelled immediately. You guessed it - out of stock! It occurred to me that they were watching for my email address to prevent me placing this order so as not to have to give a refund. The jacket was still on the website so I opened a gmail email account and placed another order using this email address. The jacket has shipped and I have been charged, so miraculously the jackets finally appeared.
The truth is that H&M didn't want to give the reduced price and then the discount for this product and pretended it was out of stock. They were tracking my email address because I told customer service I would reorder and follow up with them for a refund, and consequently cancelled that order as well. When I reordered the same day with a different email address it went through and my jacket is to be delivered tomorrow.
I will certainly be calling customer disservice as soon as I have the jacket in my hands and since I've kept every email and order status I will be asking for my 25% discount plus free shipping. Although this whole experience has been unprofessional and dishonest - at best shoddy, I won't be surprised if I don't get the discount. That's the tacky kind of company that they are and whether I get refunded or not, I will never open their website again.
While I'm at it, the only H&M store I've ever been in was the one in Place d"Orleans and it was disorganized and messy, with no visible staff. Definitely an experience I intend to never repeat.
Take my advice and save yourself the aggravation - avoid H&M online!
