The overall reputation of the company reflects significant customer dissatisfaction, particularly concerning its customer service and order fulfillment processes. Many customers report issues with delayed shipping, unresponsive support, and complications with returns, leading to frustration and a lack of trust. While there are occasional positive mentions of product quality and successful transactions, these are overshadowed by recurring complaints about misleading product descriptions and inadequate assistance from staff. The feedback indicates a pressing need for the company to enhance its customer service approach and improve communication to rebuild customer confidence.

You guys are horrible now! I've been a GC fan and shopper for over 15 years. I actually worked here back in the day. Service was always good. Seems since you guys went Bankrupt, service is now subpar. I've been sent used gear that was advertised as brand new. I was even told by a phone rep, the only way to guarantee I'd receive a new product was to order through him. I guess adding a new product to my online cart doesn't mean anything now! My other gripe is that I had an order that was never shipped, and it's been over a month now, and no one has even got back with me once to tell me the current status. I'm used to companies that'll take care of the customer first, then deal with UPS on the back end. Why am I waiting for a refund to something that you already have proof I've never received! I'm am through with you guys. Every rep I've dealt with has been very nice for the most part, too bad they work for a company with bad policies and no general sense of what good customer service is.
HMMMM WHERE DO I START... FIRST OFF I JUST WANT TO SAY WITH GUITAR CENTERS CUSTOMER SERVICE YOU HAVE TO KEEP CALLING AND CALLING TRYING TO GET AN AMERICAN ON THE PHONE AND TRYING TO FIND AN AMERICAN REP THAT WONT SCREW YOU OVER. I WAS LIED TO ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS REGARDING AN ORDER. I WAS TOLD I HAD OVER 200 DOLLARS IN CREDIT AND I PLACED 2 ORDERS WITH THAT SO CALLED CREDIT JUST FOR THOSE ORDERS TO BE CANCELLED AND WHERE I HAD TO CALL 8 TIMES IN A ROW AFTER ALREADY SPENDING 2 HOURS ON THE PHONE WITH INCOMPETENT SO CALLED REPS THAT JUST KEPT NOT HELPING ME OUT. THEY DONT CARE ABOUT CUSTOMERS AND I AM SO DISGUSTED AND FED UP ITS NOT EVEN FUNNY... SMDH
I recently bought a Squire bronco bass. Sounds great, and after you adjust the action, it is a band worthy bass. However I also recently got the nut of my guitar fixed. Yikes! $90!. Which is absolutely outrageous. (In my professional belief). The tool kit is $30, and a good quality nut is $10. I get having to pay the bills, but $90, is a bit much.
Bought a new ddj 1000 srt white. Came & found out it is an open box with scratches on the controller. Called the customer service & they don't have any new ones at the warehouse or in stores. These people are selling open boxes at new item price.
For the weekend black Friday deals I got a new bass, a bag, and a cable, the website said it would take about a week to ship. 2 days later my bass is here, the next day my other items are here as well! I'm super happy with the company and how quick they shipped. Even after I had just placed the order and called to ask some questions, the employee answering the phone was knowledgeable and ready to help me. Shoutout to my man Andrew, I hope they give you a raise!
I bought a drum kit for Black Friday. I entered my correct address to set up the shipping, but when I signed into My account on the guitar center site, It overwrote my address with my old address on file. I saw this and reached out to guitar center directly after placing the order. I talked to customer service and he said there was nothing he could do right now because the order was placed so recently. He suggested I call back the next day. I called the next day (was hung up on and had a disastrous time getting a hold of someone) GC customer service the next day said that there is nothing they can do, they have to send the package to my old address. This has been frustrating and all to save 60 bucks, now I have wasted 3 days of my life dealing with GC. Not worth the ‘savings' I will never buy from GC again. I suggest you don't either. Their service is horrible and their products are cheaply made and overpriced for what you get.
Got into the store and had to wait 20 minutes to be helped by an associate when I was the only customer waiting. For the first 10 minutes there were no employees at the register at all and it was only when I asked for help from a stocking employee that I was able to receive assistance. They did not have the item in stock so I had to order it through their website at the store. I was told it would be shipped to my house to save me the 1:30 it takes me to get to this store and back to my house. When I got home I received an electronic receipt saying the delivery would be shipped to the store and I'd have to pick it up. I called in to check about this and was told that nothing could be done and I'd have to make the drive once again. Absolutely terrible service 10/10 will not do this again.
Be Careful... They show on their website to have items "in-stock and ready to ship", then a few days later you will get an email saying that the item is "back ordered". I had to cancel my order (they never even give you the option to when they tell you your order has been "backordered"). I even let the phone associate know that this was not cool, and the website needs to reflect if they ACTUALLY have it in stock or not! Lucky my order was not for a present or something cause I would have been really upset. Went to a competitor and got my order without any issues. Fix your website, no more bait and switch!
I was purchasing a pair of headphones and placed my order online through the Guitar Center website. It did not let me know that the item was on backorder until I put my payment information in and I should have taken that as the first red flag. However, I was in no rush to receive the order. It informed me that it would take longer than expected but I did not mind and placed my order on September 12 and I should expect it September 20. September 14, I got an email saying the item was still on backorder and I would get a shipping notification when the gear is on the way. No problem I was already told it would be late. However, September 20 came and went. I waited until a week later, September 28, to see if I would receive any more updates, and when I didn't I reached out to customer service wondering where my order was after seeing the price charge pending on my card. I was upset that there was no more updates on my order or no one had reached out to me that I had almost forgotten I placed it until I saw the statement on my card. They informed me then that "It looks likes this model amp is on back order until the date of 10/05.20" then offered to find me a different item which I appreciate but it not what I wanted. I had already waited this long, what is a few more days? Plus the order was not for me but a gift so personally I did not need the item right away. October 5th, came and went with no new email or update. I waited a few more days to see then I received an email on October 12 that my order was still on backorder but no other expected shipment dates or information besides "we don't have it". I was livid. I wish they had just put "Out of Stock" on their website and I could have just avoided ordering it at all. I called October 20 after no further updates or contact from Guitar Center. All they said was "Ok" to me wanting to cancel my order after I explained the situation of not receiving my product or updates. I felt that at least a more sympathetic ear to my situation would have at least made me feel better about the situation. This was such a easy situation to avoid with either an "Out of Stock" marker on their website or prompt updates from them instead of having to reach out them about what is going on with my product. That same day I placed an order on SweetWater and I could not be more impressed with their customer service. They called me that night to ask if there was anything else I needed or if I had any trouble ordering. The next day they shipped it out and called ahead to let me know. The packaging was great and included some candy to thank me for placing my order. It was such a 180 degree turn around experience from guitar center. I can not talk about their customer service in person but the online experience has made me wary of ever ordering from them in the future.
I paid for express shipping but the order still hasn't even been processed. It should have arrived in two days but it's the third and not even processed. They said they'd refund the shipping but I still haven't seen that.
I placed an order over 2 weeks ago. When I placed the order online it said it was in stock, I checked back the next few days and it said back ordered. I called the customer service and they said it would ship from a Raleigh store & I'll receive the email that day about it... nothing. I called back the next day and it said it was going to ship from the Fayetteville store, I called that store and they said they didn't even have it in stock. I called customer service again for the 3rd time and cancelled my order. They advertise delivery in 3-5 days and as of today it's been 14. I would stay away from this company.
We ordered a nice electric piano from the Guitar Center.
Now they have haunted our emails with between 3 and 4 emails EVERY DAY.
We have blocked them, we have unsubscribed on their website, we have contacted the company and worked with a very nice person who assured us that we would receive no more emails. All attempts have failed.
It may not seem like a big deal, but having to delete their multiple emails every day is getting old.
Given the other negative reviews I will never do business with them again.
My pre-amp blew in my amplifier. I had a job on September 4th and 5th so I ordered a Marshall Code 50 off of there website because it said they had it in stock, There was no activity on the order for a couple of days so I called to follow up and was told that the amp would be delivered to my house on August 28th. On the 29th I get an email telling me the amp is back-ordered! So I called them back today and they are telling me that it will be arriving on September 5th!. I called and the attitude I got from them was basically it is what it is... and "Oh well" and thats how it ended. Could have offered a loaner or something but nothing! Still waiting to hear from the supervisor. Lets see what happens.
I bought an amp from them 2 weeks ago. After 5 days of "Processing" I got an email saying that my purchase was cancelled. I called customer service and they told me that they no longer have the item in stock - why the heck would they put it up online if they don't have that item in stock? I checked the site again the next day and the amp is again available for sale. This company is run by a bunch of scam artists!
It also takes forever for them to ship an item. I'm still waiting for the other item that I purchased with the "cancelled" amp 2 weeks ago. Order Status is still "Processing". I called customer service several times and they always tell me to give it another 24 hours. The item is supposed to be shipped within 3-5 business days after ordering - its been 2 weeks! I'd rather order from Sweetwater, they have better service than these guys.
I went to GC a few days ago and was the second on in line waiting to get in. I got in knowing what I wanted. I told a guy at the desk I wanted a Les Paul, didn't tell him the exact model. They are in a room he said and also said he would send a rep there. I went to the room where only one person allowed because of the COVID situation. I looked and saw a lot of the lower-priced Les Pauls not even there even when they said they were in stock. I thought ok when the rep comes I will ask for the model I was looking for maybe they're in the back (sell tactic to see the better ones aka higher priced ones). He never came I waited 30 minutes in that room and it seemed like an hour. This is not a one-time situation I've been there before COVID and they just don't seem to have great care in customers. Most people deal with them because they are basically the only game in town to not have shipped. If I owned that company I would maybe give them incentives on sales to change the atmosphere. When you go to spend over a 1K and feel like your on your own that's terrible.
I went to my local store to purchase a mini-amp, which was listed online as "in stock" in the store was not actually in stock at all. No worries, a sales associated walked me through how to order on line. So I looked up my item and it's was "in stock ready to ship" at another location. So I ordered that, and an additional item while at it. Same days shipping was touted. So after 5 days I get an email that my order is ready. But surprise! It was only half my order. The mini-amp didn't ship. It took two online help chats and two phone calls over four days to get an answer. There was a delay. Why? No one knows. Three days later, no info, and I get an email, finally, to a question I sent support staff - the item was now being sourced from another store and would ship ASAP, at which time I'd be emailed. Two days pass, nothing. I reply to the email and now the item is "back ordered." Yet, online, the amp is STILL listed as "in stock ready to ship" so Guitar Center clearly could care less about the next poor customer with their hopes up. A day later I email again and an associate replies, we don't have it, but another store has it, and to get it, you need to cancel the order, and re-order through us to expedite. Are you still following me here? How can a business be this poor at delivering a product to a customer?! I'm dumbfounded at how inept the whole operation has been. I haven't decided if I'll roll the dice on re-ordering, but one thing is for sure, I will cancel the order. No business this terrible deserves a dime of my money, and it shouldn't be taking yours, either.
I was browsing GC guitars. I saw a Les Paul I would have liked to own. The information for a payment plan was definitely in my budget. I ordered it and waited for over a week. My order was canceled with out any explanation. Now I have an opened a line of credit not guitar. Guitar Center biggest waste of time.
I placed an online order for curbside pickup due to COVID-19. They took the money from my account, but the status online with Guitar Center is still pending. It's been HOURS, I'm under a time crunch and was not able to assist my client. I feel like I wasted 1300 dollars, and no one can seem to give me a solid answer as to why the status is pending or why the purchase is taking so long. I have had several bad experiences with Guitar Center over the years, but this one takes the cake... 1300 dollars was deducted from my account and I STILL do not have a product. Order from Amazon and don't waste your time...
Bought a new Line 6 Helix online. $1700 with shipping and taxes. Waited a week for it to arrive.
Opened it to find seal broken, plastic around unit ripped, screen protector removed, parts missing, and when I plugged it in someone else's name was programmed already!
I contacted store immediately, they said it was a demo but never disclosed this at the time of sale. They also admitted they do this routinely since if it was never sold it is still new!
Even with parts missing, this whole non-sense they would not exchange for new - I could just return it.
I will buying elsewhere from now on!

Answer: They suck altogether, online or mortar. I spent over $250 on studio equip during 2021. Most of it failing (including 2 mics) and they gave me nothing but bullshit pushback when returning for a refund, or replacing. BIG bunch of bankruptcy scammers.
Answer: I'm sorry to hear that, James. If you change your mind, feel free to email us anytime! We are here to help.
