If I could put a 0 I would. Ive never written a bad review ever but this was the first time in my life that I had such an absolutely horrible experience purchasing anything. Guitar center shipped me the wrong amp which arrived in a joke of a package and the box hanging half way open. The amount of people I then had to speak to who had no idea what happened was ridiculous, then they decided that I had to go out of my way and drive 45 minutes to take this incorrect amp to one of their locations, and when I arrived the store manager stated "He didn't want this amp in his stock and I should have just received a label" so I had to call back online and have them figure it out. After I got my refund they told me I wasted me time and wouldn't get the correct amp. Then when I arrive home, I realize that they only refunded me a partial amount, so I had to call once more to have them fix that as well. I cannot express how bad this whole outcome was. I've never had my week ruined that bad. Please save your sanity and never shop at guitar center. Shop anywhere else.
Sold me a guitar that they described as in "great shape". The guitar arrive scratch, chipped and dented. I contacted their customer service through several channels. When I got a response, "Riley" offered me a 10% or a return. Buyer pays shipping both ways at GC when you return. I took the 10%. They did not credit the 10%, and I have not heard back from them. They essentially ghosted me. They were really nice before I bought the guitar (sales), but ignored me after the sold me a junk guitar (customer service). Advice is not to be fooled by the sales staff.
Once again, I was scammed by this company and left holding the bag. This time, with a mesa amplifier. The item started malfunction ing right after the "return window". Shocker. It kept getting worse, guitar center refuses any connection to it, and refuses to address this issue in any way other than "should have paid hundreds for our pro coverage."
Avoid these people. Sweetwater always honors their deals, and always goes above and beyond to make sure the customer is taken care of. Go through them instead.
I have had guitar center clsoe my account, and remove all data from their back end. Scammers till the end as per usual.
I ordered a schecter 7 string that they had for sale online. They had the wrong pictures on the listing so had to cancel the order. They left the charge on my card for over a week and in that week the guitar I wanted was bought. Tried to chat on the website and the employee just closed the chat without offering any resolution. Had to call 3 different times to find someone to actually help me and even then their solution was to get a gear card or ask for a higher limit on the gear card. Finally ordered a guitar that was my third choice since the used pieces I wanted were sold while I stared at a guitar center charge on my card and then shipping is delayed two days because it's in a different box since guitar center isn't honest about stock and will let you buy anything even if they don't have it after I was told by the agent that helped I would have it on the weekend. That didn't happen.i have been trying my hardest to buy a guitar from them for a month now and still don't have an instrument in my hands. Getting someone from the company to consistently respond to emails or the live chat to help you is near impossible so they can filter you to the phone I suppose where they try to sell you more and more. Worst customer experience I have ever had and I will never spend money with this company again.
So I needed to cop a new guitar cuz my old one was all busted and stuff, you know how it be. Anywayz, I headeded to Guitar Center and damn they got mad optons yo! I ended up grabin' this sick Fender Strat and it's like butter bro, sooo smooth to play.
The guys at Guitar Center was mad chill and hooked it up wit a discount too which was flame. No cap, they know they stuff and helped me get exactly what I needed. Solid expireance overall, deffly reccomend Guitar Center if u need any music gear frfr. Aight peace!
I had been shopping for a taylor guitar for my daughter. I found one here but I live in Chicago. I called and asked if it came with a gig bag, the associate told me yes. I ordered the guitar online the next day. I got the guitar... no gig bag. I called the store. I spoke to 2 managers and now the 3rd one interrogated me like I was trying to steal a Les Paul from their showroom floor. He asked why I didn't order it when I called the store. What was the associates name. He told me that there was no way they told me that it came with a gig bag because it didn't. Finally I said "we are talking about a 20 dollar gig bag here sir" and he said FINE will 20 bucks appease you? That was the end of the conversation as I told him what he could do with the 20 bucks. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER HAD BAR NONE. TOOL ALERT.
I never understood why do we keep buying anything from Guitar Center. Their merchandise is in very low quality, and their guitars look cheap even though their prices are up in the sky. Whatever you want to buy from Guitar Center, you can find it anywhere for way less. Moreover, the resale value of their guitars is zero, according to them.
10 months ago I bought a guitar from their Sherman Oaks store for nearly $500. I went there earlier today, I wanted to exchange the guitar for another one they have and I was willing to offer money on top. They offer to buy my guitar $75! A guitar that I bought 10 mo ago, from the same store, for $500, and wanted to sell it back in the same condition I got it, they offered $75 for it. By that they told me "Do not buy anything from Guitar Center, you won't be able to sell it later". I didn't ask for $500 and I knew to expect way less than that. But $75?!...It happened to me a few times before at their store. Why will you buy anything from Guitar Center? No wonder they are bankrupt, we are suckers but only to a point!
The worst place to learn music is here, very rude staff and irresponsible instructors, my daughter is 8 years old and she complains that her instructor yells at her all the time, her room smells of cigarettes, this place is not recommended at all.
I called and ask a question about one of the Gibson Las Pauls. The person on the phone had zero interest in answering any of my questions, and was giving me one word answers. This is terrible customer service. Whoever that person is, should not answer your phone I will not be shopping at guitar Center in Cerritos. Have a great day.
I have had several good visits to our local Guitar Center in Evansville, In. I stopped in today to buy a guitar case that was on sale. A younger male with bushy curly brown hair asked if he could help me. I pulled out my phone, showed him the case I had in my cart online. He looked it up, said he had 2 of them. Told me it may be a few minutes before he can find it. I replied no problem, I will look around a bit. Well the next thing I see him on the floor, ignoring me, talking with another employee, then reorganizing something in a box, looked at me, turned the other way. I am thinking what did I do... Then I went up to another man with beard, I think he is mgr, and told him what I was looking for and the more I thought about it, hell no, Ill order online and have it shipped to me. I wont be back. I may order stuff online but I wont go back to store.
Went to two Guitar Centers to buy a guitar. Not one person in either one came over to help. Even when I asked for help they were to busy on their phone. Bought from Sam Ash.
10 stars service and support from Terry Thank you very much sir, for your assistance and advice
Terry is one of the best agents I ever dealt
I was given a snare head for Christmas. Clear Remo black dot. As it turns out it's awful. I chatted online with an associate on Dec 31st. He said I could return for a refund. Today, Jan 1st, received a text msg being told drum heads non returnable. I said, not even 2hrs on it, no marks at all. I didn't want a refund. I would like to exchange for another snare head. No reply- dead silent. Already ordered a replacement. No questions on returns. I'm done with them. That's why unreasonable.
Am in the market to buy a Martin HD-28/S28 or gibson hummingbird. See them hanging 3rd teir up locked up. All I need is a saleswman eager to make a sale let me compare. 1 hr later still no salesman in sight.
Come back a week later ask for help at the sales desk. 1/2 hour later noone in sight. On my way out the door I see a young employee kneeling at the fromt sales desk playing around with the stock. I ask for the floor manager. He is the floor manager playing around with some $2.00 merchandise not paying attention to anything happening on the floor. Doesn't care and clueless that someone wants to Purchase a $4,000 huitar and just needs help determining which one.
Guitar Center may think they are the only option but I will ne going to 2 other guitar stores to see who wants my $4,000. That's OK Guitar Center be happy with them $10 strings tou just sold and take solice in the fact your $2.00 merchandise is perfectly aligned on the rack.
I purchased a drum kit online. Their site states that it will be delivered via frieght and customer wil be contacted to set up a delivery time. I called and spoke to 2 different people at GC that verified that I would be contacted after the purchase to set up a time for delivery. After placing my order I rec'd an email that night that the delivery was set for 2 days. I called GC to let them know I need to set up a delivery for a time that I would be home. They told me not their problem to contact friehgt co. Well it is on thier site stating I would be contacted and I spoke to someone. They could care less. They also have no contact info for the freight co. I wanted to set up a time/day so I would be home and it wouldn't be left at my front door for someone to steal. I was also told it would be 3-5 days which was great as I would have been home on any day from 3 to 10 days after placing my order so I wasn't concerned about a specific time. ALSO there is NO WAY to get in touch with Fed ex about the delivery. What a bunch of lies about delivery just to get the sale.
I placed a simple online order for one book. I get an email stating I need to call in the complete verification in order to release the item for shipping. Erik Cisneros From Guitar Center answers and literally demanded a bank statement to prove this wasn't a fraudulent charge. They suspected fraud because I used my husbands debit card, which is a joint account we share, and the shipping address had my name on it instead of my husbands. The other option was to call my bank and get some verification merchant code? Complete waste of time and very frustrating. I will not be shopping here ever again.
Customer is beware if you buy used equipment online from guitar Center don't. I purchased two acoustic guitars online but before I did, I called up and spoke to a sales associate to take a look at the guitar the first time and they said it was an excellent condition. It wasn't. It was broken the second time I tried buying a guitar eight months later, I called up again, spoke to the sales associate, and they assured me that the guitar was in great shape, a day later, I got a phone call after purchasing the guitar from the sales associate telling me that the guitars got a huge crack on the side of it and if I still want it and I just said no that's it. I will not shop at guitar Center anymore.
I had just walked in and looking at the guitar wall before perching some strings. That's when the tech guy, my old friend, came out from the back and told me I had to leave, then went on to tell the employee who was helping me,, that I was banned, over his personal feelings about me.Im a former employee and a 40+ year guitarist. I don't cause anyone problems. Just an unprofessional douchebag got put in charge
3 months ago I purchased a DigiTech GSP5 online from GC. It arrived on time and shipped well. Upon finding a power cable they did not provide, I discovered that the clock battery was shot. No big deal, $3 and ten mins I had that in. Annoyed, I moved on getting the equipment into my rack expecting to use it for modulation more than anything. Well, it emits a squeal and horrible noise on every setting. It just does not work. I contacted GC and was promised a refund, they were sending a label to me to send the item back. After several emails, I still do not have my refund. No label. And a boat anchor in my rack. Suffice it to say I will not buy another thing from them again. GC. NF. Never again for used equipment.
I've been emailing with an Eric Eldridge with guitar center and he sent me a bad Ibanez and won't exchange it for me. I took my guitar into guitar center to get looked at and they didn't recognize they sent me a bad one. Instead charged me $100 for a horrible setup and sent me on my way. Very unhappy customer with Eric and guitar center. Don't ever buy from them. Sweetwater seems to care more about their customers than guitar center.
Answer: I bought an amp from them 2 weeks ago. After 5 days of "Processing" I got an email saying that my purchase was cancelled. I called customer service and they told me that they no longer have the item in stock - why the heck would they put it up online if they don't have that item in stock? I checked the site again the next day and the amp is again available for sale. This company is run by a bunch of scam artists!

Answer: They suck altogether, online or mortar. I spent over $250 on studio equip during 2021. Most of it failing (including 2 mics) and they gave me nothing but bullshit pushback when returning for a refund, or replacing. BIG bunch of bankruptcy scammers.
Answer: I'm sorry to hear that, James. If you change your mind, feel free to email us anytime! We are here to help.
