$8 monthly fee, $5 fee to deposit cash. Rich people make money with their money, poor people lose money just to hold it.
Unable to login or retrieve my User ID. On hold for hours and no one ever picks up. Horrible service.
These cards are ridiculously difficult to activate and require way too much personal information. Almost useless if given as a gift.
But wish they didn't charge too much for a monthly fee every month. Makes my check lower then what it actually suppose to be.
Your so call business/company is trash, and ya'll are all different color of animal& human $#*!. You (Imbeciles)!
My mom stashed $700 now it's completely gone into the oblivion. Customer service is not helping. Help
Green dot has a 2 week hold on any transactions, but doesn't list this in their card when you buy them
This company drops their cards into stores where they display them along with the normal gift cards. Then consumers pick them up for family thinking that is what they are buying into and the person they give it to gets tricked right out of their money from the very start.
A parent of mine got me one last year. I dropped it in with the rest of the other gift cards waiting to be used and didn't really get much anything done last year because of the current covid situation. This month I decided to break it out and use it to find out I have to register it first. Ok, so I pay normal and go home to register it for next time. Then to find out I need to give them my social security number and all sorts of information. I look everything up online to find out this has nothing to do with being a gift card. It is a prepaid debit card and in order to use the funds someone gifted on it, you have to set up a whole bank account with them.
So then I do it, ready to drop everything as soon as I use the $50 on it for something. The very moment I register the card with an account, they immediately charge a $7.95 "monthly fee" from the $50. Well, this keeps getting worse.
I will never go anywhere near a Green Dot card. Even if I was purposely looking for a prepaid card, I would stay far away from them because of this experience and their practices in tricking people into buying something thinking it is something else (a covert bait and switch routine they have there). I won't touch them again and I advise you to stay away as well.
I wouldn't be surprised if they try to "fee" me closing the account once the card is depleted...
I have received a phone call from Bernard stating I was going to get refund & also
I received phone call from Josh on 2//1/22 he informed me of BBB contacting greendot, and that I will be receiving my $200.00 back in a check. It takes 2 days to process the refund. From this day still no check in mail. I emailed twice, and finally got call from supervisor, which I was at work. So I called back and spoke to a lady and she informed me that I am not getting the $200.00 back because I did not give them the info they needed. I sent them the receipt. They want the card. I don't know how many times I have to say the card was stolen/lost and was sent to Florida in the mail. So I was lied too after Josh told me I'm getting the refund, and it will be mailed to my address. I have been dealing with this company since December, and was told twice that I would get refund back. When I talk to others they said no. I have spoken to Bernard and Josh from Greendot. They need to train employees. $200.00 is a lot to lose, and I sent my information that they request like 4 times. How many more times I have to keep emailing and calling. Thank you for your time, and understanding. I have been dealing with this company since December 2021 with phone calls back in forth and have been lied too. I am not going to waste my breath with them again. BEWARE OF THE COMPANY! I keep telling them I bought 2 gift cards for the amount of $200 one went to my daughter in Illinois, the other mailed to Florida and was stolen my son did not receive. I have been mailing the cards to him the last 5 years and this has never happened, and he is a cop for crying out loud he would not lie about not receiving the card. They lie, and they really need to train there employees if they are not going to give the refund!
After a mistake made on their part, we are still locked out of our account. Can not access our money or close our account.
We can not get anyone with the authority to over ride their system.
On hold for 1:25 hours on one call. They just pass you around to another person, that also has no authority. While they all do make apologizes and say sorry for the inconvenience as if they are all reading this from a script. Even got kicked up to speak with the Corporate Resolutions Team.
They kept asking us for or bank account number, personal address, phone numbers, full social security number, date of birth and so on. Although they would not tell us the bank's address. Just that they not in America.
We've noticed many other people in the same situation.

We have contacted Consumer Affairs and the Better Business Bureau. We are arranging for Proof of Service to serve a law suit to Mr. Dan Henry President and Amit Parikh Executive Vice President, although the address in Pasadena is a vacant building. This Office space is available for lease. The Better Business Bureau is using a PO box as their bank address.
Their corporate resolution team wants a letter of indemnity from the payroll processing company that my employers uses to hold green dot bank harmless an agree not to sue. This is not an option they will do for us, besides our lawyer advises not to waive this right. Counsel agrees with us, that the mistake they made that is blocking access to our money in our accounts is cause for action legally.
If anyone wants to join this suit please reply. The attorney said there is no cost to you to join our suit.
I was given two Walmart 'debit' cards for a birthday gift, Just going through the registration process for these two gift cards was excruciating enough, given the fact you have to give them all of your personal information, SSN, DOB, address, phone#, and then the card fails to register, then I call their customer service number on the back of these two cards wait on hold for over two minutes then when the CSR, customer service representative gets on the phone puts me on hold for another five minutes, I assume expecting me to hang up, yet they disconnect the call themselves. I call back and go through the same process stating my case, with the hassle of just redeeming these two Walmart gift cards, and the second person hangs up. This is w/o any profanity, although on the second call, I was tempted when they disconnected the call. The third call was on hold for another 8 minutes, listening to music, then silence, still connected to the call, but no one picked up. Walmart using this GreenDot Bacnk is a horrible addition to your service for loyal Walmart customers...
I got my own resolved and I was able to access my funds send a mail greendothelpcentre@ aol. Com for a fast response and solution.
They charge me for a month fee the day I got it wtf was the point of me needing the card with money if they stoll my money
The customer service representative is a voicemail that repeats the same questions if there is a problem. No other help available.
Does not seem to be a zero star option. No response, no recourse, no service, no luck, out $200.00.
Ymmv
They shouldn't have a customer service. They are the worst for fraud, scams and customer service. They never help you. Don't trust this card service.
I got the card from a CVS. The GreenDot.com systems is down. Can't activate the card to use it. No number to speak to someone.
Answer: No This is a prepaid debit card that keeps your money for a few wweeks to deny access
Answer: Forget it. They direct you to web or cannot help at all
