This company drops their cards into stores where they display them along with the normal gift cards. Then consumers pick them up for family thinking that is what they are buying into and the person they give it to gets tricked right out of their money from the very start.

A parent of mine got me one last year. I dropped it in with the rest of the other gift cards waiting to be used and didn't really get much anything done last year because of the current covid situation. This month I decided to break it out and use it to find out I have to register it first. Ok, so I pay normal and go home to register it for next time. Then to find out I need to give them my social security number and all sorts of information. I look everything up online to find out this has nothing to do with being a gift card. It is a prepaid debit card and in order to use the funds someone gifted on it, you have to set up a whole bank account with them.

So then I do it, ready to drop everything as soon as I use the $50 on it for something. The very moment I register the card with an account, they immediately charge a $7.95 "monthly fee" from the $50. Well, this keeps getting worse.

I will never go anywhere near a Green Dot card. Even if I was purposely looking for a prepaid card, I would stay far away from them because of this experience and their practices in tricking people into buying something thinking it is something else (a covert bait and switch routine they have there). I won't touch them again and I advise you to stay away as well.

I wouldn't be surprised if they try to "fee" me closing the account once the card is depleted...

In the past I have asked a few questions. I stopped once I asked one about if there is an application or method to "wake up" the power off state of monitors (power saving) when you sit down in front of the computer (ie, by detecting movement via camera or something). It sounded like a good concept, and then after one answer that had nothing to do with anything (someone posted something like "very interesting thoughts"), the question was then removed and missing when I came back to it to see if anyone else said anything. My other few questions were indeed answered before that though.

I felt it was odd it was deleted but didn't want to waste the effort of typing out detailed questions like that again with the risk of it just being removed. So I figured to pass time I'd at least answer a few others since a few of mine were indeed answered with solid answers.

Sorting through the questions that weren't posted in good faith to find properly asked questions, I only had the chance to answer about 5. These were simple questions like how to access certain features in an application (i. E., how to access a settings menu in a graphic application), or how to accomplish something in Windows. My answers were short and to the point. Another question I remember was where someone could find something online (product), and I searched for a few things and replied.

Then all of a sudden I get an email from Yahoo that my account was suspended (a true email, not one of those fake/mimic'd emails). I replied back patiently asking if there was something I have done as I assure them I haven't broken any rules or stepped on anyone toes. They answered the next day with a swift text-book answer without obviously researching the few answers/questions I have ever made, saying:

(QUOTE)
You have posted content in violation of our Community Guidelines or Yahoo! Terms of Service. As a result, your account has been suspended from Yahoo! Answers, and you will no longer be able to access this service. Community Guidelines exist to keep Yahoo! Answers a safe and useful community.

While your access to other Yahoo! Services is not affected, if your account is flagged again for a Yahoo! Terms of Service violation, your account may be terminated without further notice.
(END OF QUOTE)

I tried to give it some thought and couldn't come up with a reason as I have never posted anything rude, vulgar, sarcastic, off-the-topic, spam or any form of adult-graded topics or material. I figure obviously someone must have flagged me in error or someone was abusing their flagging system. I responded with such and they had no reply. Instead they make me feel like some kind of unwanted criminal.

So at this point I have even decided to expire my usage of all Yahoo! Services as that was concerning. I have been using Yahoo since the late 90's it was nothing but a search engine. Now I fear if I spend the effort to do anything anywhere else on Yahoo they will just simply delete me there as well without even asking questions.

Meanwhile, they have people posting questions that make no sense, questions that blatantly talk about private parts for kicks, answers they don't make sense, people posting rude comments about other people's answers and so much more... and that's ok. But when I respond to a tech question with a simple to understand and straight to the point answer or help someone track done a product they are having trouble finding... I'm removed from the picture without any question, research or jury.

After a decade and a half of using their services, I firmly stand on my decision to no longer use Yahoo.
