I had a suspicious activity on my account they blocked my card and I did not have access to my other funds. I had late fees no groceries and no way to work. Not acceptable.

Hidden fees and entering into monthly arrangement fees and other hidden fees! Not good for tourists or temp travel solution. Stick to prepaid gift cards from Walmart or Target.

Yeah. It's great that you get your check early, but lots of other banks do that. But if you ever have an issue (and you will) their customer service is the absolute worst I've ever dealt with. I made a purchase from Walmart and a usual because this is a prepaid card, they placed a hold for the pretax amount. A few days later, the total amount was charged, but the hold did not come off. I waited 2 weeks to see if it would clear up on its own before calling customer service. The girl I spoke with didn't understand this very common practice. She first argued that the dates were different. I explained the first was on the day the order was placed, the second was on the day it cleared. She argued that the amounts were different. I again explained that one was pretax, and the other for the final amount. She told me that the $99 charge must have been the delivery fee. I explained that there was no delivery fee. She insisted several times that my card had been compromised and the charge came from that. I explained several times that wasn't the case. I asked for a supervisor multiple times. She refused. In the end, she marked my account for fraud and disabled my card despite my telling her several times not to. They are STILL holding my $99. I am required to MAIL them all of the exact same information that I have over the phone. And I am still waiting for the new card, which means I have no access to my money. Obviously taking my money elsewhere. If you haven't signed up for their service, save yourself the hassle. I've heard good things about Chime.

You can't get YOUR money when you want. They say You can withdraw $3000 from a bank but don't tell you it at $1000 increments so they can charge you a fee with each amount. $500 from an ATM but you also can't do that. FRAUDULENT practices at it's finest. BBB will hear about you & your fraudulent practices. DO NOT DO ANY BANKING WITH THEM?

I would have to agree with most other reviews here. While Green Dot is decidedly one of the worst in the financial sector, It's hard not to interact with this company at some point in life. According to Wikipedia, it's considered the "world's largest prepaid debit card company and operates the platforms for Apple Pay, Uber, & Intuit", and is in partnership with businesses like TurboTax & WalMart's GoBank. Green Dot also owns the RushCard.

Green Dot also operates under the name Bonneville Bank, but accounts or transactions cannot be transferred between the two. That's where I had the biggest issue.

Green Dot's customer service is very UNhelpful, and is very limited. If you have a problem you're practically on your own. Their reputation is bad across the web, on Yelp, Amazon, & CreditKarma. It's definitely about the worst you can do business with. Avoid the prepaid card if at all possible, it's loaded with extra fees, and you may even be stuck paying the monthly fee if you don't setup direct deposits of at least $1000 per month.

Account not mine!

Green Dot has continually report an account they claim I opened in 2017 as a negative charged off account in the amount of $67 despite I have filed disputes. I have demanded copies of account statements and the account application that has my signature showing I applied for an account and they have ignored me. I've disputed the reported account with the national credit bureaus and they keep responding that the account is valid and it remains on my credit file. I'm now filing complaints with the CFPB and FTC. I RECOMMEND YOU STAY AWAY FROM THIS BANK AND AVOID DOING ANY BUSINESS WITH THEM!

I don't even want to give them the full one star. I was not under the impression that everytime I slid the card I get charged 1.50. Green dot has taking 9.00 dollars from me in fees and will not work with me to get it back. That's a rip off! I bought the card for bills and put exactly what I needed on the card. Once I got to the last bill I realized I didn't have enough which was odd. I logged in and saw that they literally charged me 1.50 each time I used the card. I called the company and explained that I was not aware of the fees and they said they would refund my money only to hang up on me after being on hold for 30 minutes, just for me to call back for them to put me on hold for another 20 minutes and hang up on me the second time. I have been trying to reach out to this company and I have zero luck. I will never use this card again and I will advertise how badly my experience on any and everything I possibly can. Thanks a lot green dot for the $#*!tie fees you have stolen from me.

I've dealt with bad costumer service. Who hasnt. But when I say this. Here my warning. Run, don't walk! Green dot on the surface seems ok. But God forbid you have any problems or questions. If your able to get through by phone(2\12 hours) You'll deal with a terrible echo that makes it impossible to communicate your problem! You want to dispute a charge, good luck bc there online site says in handle disputes, but it just refers You to call. Remember 2 and 1\2 hours + phone echo. So now your left with chat room or email. Well email has yet to even send a apology letter and I've sent multiple for past 2 weeks. And the chatroom lol... Well my 4 year old can comprehend better than the ppl I've come across. I would explain all what I just explained and the number one response. I apologies, please try the phone number on back of card! I can't make this up. I explain I have problems with the phone and you help is. "Sorry call it again". I understand you get what you pay for. But in a market where there's a dozen prepaid cards. Stay clear of green dot.

Greendot scamming
August 12, 2021

I've been calling customer service since July 21st 2021. They randomly sent an email saying it's unusual activity going on with my account because my taxes was deposited into my account. Only 1,079. That's not much. I HAVE KIDS TO FEEL WHILE SUPERVISORS HANG UP IN MY FACE AND BEING RUDE. I have 4 different case numbers because NOBODY IS HELPING ME. Greendot is scamming me FOR WHAT? The CEO of greendot DEN HENRY makes 2.4 million dollars a year. Why take my 1,079 and giving me the run around when you have more then people will ever see in a life time. I've contacted fraud department to unlock my account and send full refund in a paper check. I have to wait another 4 weeks for the check IF IT COMES AT THIS POINT. They lie and schem and steal from the lest fortuned people. That's not ok. I'm a hard working single mother.

Horrible Scams

DO NOT USE THIS GREENDOT COMPANY. THEY STOLE 400.00 OUT OF MY ACCOUNT A. YEAR AGO I WENT THROUGH HELL TO GET IT BACK. NOW THEY GAVE ME A 5 DAY NOTICE UNDER THE ASSUMPTION THAT I WOULD BE RECEIVING A NEW CARD WHICH NEVER CAME AND THEY STOLE $1,200.00 FROM ME THIS TIME MY BILL MONEY AND BLOUNTLY TOLD ME "TO BAD THATS YOUR FAULT YOU WILL HAVE TO WAIT 30 DAYS TO GET A CHECK IN THE MAIL" JUST LIKE I AM STILL WAITING FOR THE CARD THEY WILL BE PAYING EVERY LATE FEE EVERYTHING I LOSE DUE TO THEIR. POOR NEGLIGENCE I WILL BE IN COURT. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE ROBBED BY PEOPLE WHO CANT EVEN SPEAK PROPER ENGLISH. THEY ARE THEIVES STEAL PEOPLES MONEY ROBBERS LOW LIFE TRASH. Loaded my greendot pay-as-you-go card, made sure the load worked, went to the ONLY site online I use the card at, and... It was declined, because greenf*** is "holding payment until March 7th" - which HAPPENS to be their billing date for their monthly fee. Greendot, YOU SUCK DEAD BABY BUNNY BALLS.

Warning DO NOT USE THIS BANK AS THEY ARE A LEGAL SCAM PERIOD! They have also started 2 sub banks to try and hide their dishonest practices. Gobank (closed down) and Go2bank. Green dot and Go2bank are worse banks next to Russian Banks and ill even bet Russians banks are better than these bs banks. Every employee is over seas and can hardly speak English and could care less if you understand them. Steer clear of these banks as they are the worse, ever, in every aspect of customer service. The prey on people with weak credit and people who can't get a regular bank account. These companies are preditors and have no problem ripping u off with out offering you any lube as they F you. How do they get away with it you ask? By supporting the other thieves in Washington. Rediculace 100%

I feel like this green that is a scam. They're very unprofessional have the worst customer service I ever have experience I had my text return sent that court. It's been sitting on green dots is the 28th of last month. It is now the 14th of the next month And I still cannot use the cart. They placed it back on the car for no apparent reason when I called the office to ask why were there a block on the card they reply was it was fraudulent activity, which was a lie. I went to go withdraw some money from 7-Eleven and there was a black on the card. I called the office verified myself and asked if the black be lifted. They told me it's gonna take 48 hours to unpack the card that was a week and a half ago then I called them today. They told me that it's gonna take 10 days now to lift the block. I told him that my mom has his pass and I had to pay for the funeral that didn't mean anything to him. This is a scam definitely. I would advise anyone to stay away from green that it would be one of the worst decisions that you were made to try to do any kind of business with greenback. I will keep you posted on how long does it take for me to Ashley are use this card. He had the black took off, we're going on two weeks they're telling me 10 more days with no explanation

On may 12th i added money to my card i wamted to book a hotel and canceled im trying to call these ppl they gave me a phony phone to at&t phone directory to speak to smone abt getting my money back i called the number on the back of my card 10 times and all 10 times they hung up on this card is a scam dont put your hard earned money on this card cuz u wont get back now im out of 104.00 dollars cuz these ppl refuse to give me a right phone number so i can get my money back i will nvr use this card again ever
