Worst customer service
September 28, 2021

I tried to get a refund for a debit card I can't use. Customer service is difficult to get live on the phone. Told me to send a picture of card & receipt. But company wont even accept my email to look over the pictures. Tried twice sending the email, tried several times to talk to someone. I guess I m one of the lucky ones. I just lost $37, but after reading other reviews (and there are many), other people lost larger amounts of money. ALL WAYS READ REVIEWS!.

The worst service ever!

I would give them all negative stars. I bought a card today and followed directions to activate the card and cant get my card activated. Keeps giving me a error message and then of course you cant get a live agent on the phone and then when you finally do they can not help you other then telling you to try it again but you get the same error message. All they say is they can not help other then filing a report that will take 24 to 48 hours to get a response. Now my bill is late and my money is sitting out there some where and i dont have access to it at all and they just say they are sorry. I would not ever recommend this company or card to any one ever.

A member of our church generously donated the full amount of a Green Dot card he had received as a gift. After spending several days trying to work with the site, I was finally able to receive the "personalized" card to use. Back to the Website, to make an attempt to send the money to the church. What a mess. For 35 minutes, every time I clicked on an action, the site sent me back to the login page. I'd login, try to send money, got sent back to login. This went on for almost 20 minutes. Then, and only then, did I discover that Green Dot had already taken out $7.95 in fees. In other words, the member was unable to give the amount he thought he was giving to the church. I would not recommend this card or company to anyone, especially another church.

I purchased the card yesterday and they automatically took 7.95 off my card for a monthly charge that was almost half of what I put on the card I'm so pissed and dissatisfied with this prepaid card

This is one of the more popular prepaid credit cards and you actually just get it at Walmart, then when you want to make a purchase online that seems a little dicey to you, just use the prepaid card for the exact amount that you want to spend. No more worry about future unauthorized charges or disputing a charge that you didn't want.

Do not use green dot.

Green dot is so terrible. It hurts me how terrible it is. They will charge you money on your card when its not even activated yet and when you call most of the people are very unhelpful and they won't care about your problems and are true jerks to you.

Green Dot makes it very difficult to access your money. There customer service is an automated system and a online chat that has their reps ending the conversation on purpose. It's terrible. They hold your money and you can't transfer it to your bank account, and if you send it to a friend or family member they have to have a green dot account themselves. It's legit a way for them to hold your cash and not get it you or people you need to send money to unless that give you a ridiculous fee or weeks of waiting

I was given the card by a colleague as a retirement gift, the person not realizing that this was a bank card. Except for receiving the card and information about it, never received a statement as to was happening to my monies. Found out about 2 years later that my account was closed, and the money almost gone. Was very disappointed by the representative's response to my total disbelief. When I wanted to make sure that my information was not to be shared, that was a challenge in itself. DO not recommend this bank... found out the one representative was speaking to me from the Philippines, but the address is Sioux Falls, South Dakota!

I purchased a prepaid card. $1.95 activation charge at the counter. I put $20 on this said card to pay a bill. I go to activate card and it registers me for a new card, which I DO NOT want. Go to pay my bill and a declined transaction comes up because this scam company took $7.95 for an activation fee. Then this piece of $#*! tells me it says they charge it on the card. I would not recommend this green dot card to my worst enemy or even a homeless person. They rip you off and take your money. How are you going to charge someone a maintenance fee for a card that does not even have your name on it? I wouldn't even give this company 1 star

I have been loyal customer over 7 years $8 month for them to close my account without warning hold my money and keep resending me new cards having to wait wks at a time then every day on phone with cooperate them not fix this still have my money is crap. I can't believe this.im calling federal bureau here is n Colorado reporting them

Closed account, lied about how to get my funds that was on my card when they closed it. Now have to wait 30 days to get paper check. Never got the card in the mail talked to someone last week telling them that they said"do not fear" and in that moment I should of feared. Bc now I have no access to my money and my bills are not gonna care that green dot closed my acct with out my permission or their new stupid card.

Card is terrible

This card is, by far, the worst card I've dealt with. The ATM they were using that charged no fee are no more. You can't transfer your money to a REAL bank to pay bills. (In order to do so; you get hit with fees) If your trying to build credit you can forget it with this card, because no cc company accepts this card or "Bank" as they call it. Green dot is just a terrible excuse for a card that coerces you to spend even more money than you already have to.

Unbelievable

So I loaded my card after checking my balance online. Online it shows a zero balance, not negative. After loading the card I find out the money I loaded isn't updated online. I call customer support to find out my account negative over 100$. Really! So then as I'm explaining that it showed a zero balance why would I load a card in the negative. Smh, then they say oh we can waive 25$, really that doesn't help me at all. If it showed originally it was negative I would have never loaded it. So instead of acknowledging the technical issue they tell me 25$ waiver is the best they can do. Thanks, but no thanks. You guys operating in bad business practices. So be aware I definitely will not ever use your service again and would advise anyone else either.

My elderly mother's card got locked because she answered a single security question inaccurately. While good security is important, they have a complete inability to deal with the situation once the card is locked. We've spent in excess of three hours on the phone. On hold. Getting cut off during transfers. Getting bounced around to supervisors, etc. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY.

This is a con. I am giving them one star because I have to give atleast that much.
I am very certain whoever set up this? ( it's not a bank or card) is either a con or half honest. If there is even a slight doubt about legitimacy of this review request to be reached to me thru my email. I have not thrown their card. Shame on you Greendot, may you be exposed.

Fraud

I cashed app myself 1500 on a Saturday check my card Wednesday. I have another cash app to myself for 1500 that I didn't do nor is it on or has ever been on my cash app. Now I have to wait at least 45 days for a investigation for something clearly is on there end. I have never had a problem until now. When I asked to speak to an American. I was told no Americans work for the department. Now I need my money that I may or may not get back. How do I tell my kids there vacation coming up and now we can't go

Scam alert
January 20, 2024

This greendot has ZERO security. 1st day I activated it some streaming company took 49.95 from me. I called dispute department and the card was never deactivated. 2 days later another unauthorized transaction happened in which this company is to blame after they did not cancel existing card. Now I'm in the negative after having zero funds
