I had the same experience

You don't really get a chance to "try it" for free, because the fine print is that you have to cancel on the day you receive your first box, probably before you've even made the first meal. I was pretty unhappy. However, I called to complain and they did give me a $25 discount on the second box.

How is that legal? I did the trial and deactivated the account. However it was reactivated without me doing anything but just logging in the account. So if you deactivate and just log in to check if it's deactivated correctly or for whatever other reason, the account will reactivate its self with no warnings. It's nothing else but a scam. The food was bad and salads came with bugs. Not sure what is organic or not. Horrible customer service and got scammed a 100$. Been on the phone for an hour trying to remove my credit card infos with no success.

Just canceled. The meals were great! But 5 of 6 boxes were delivered late. And 4 were so late the food had spoiled (terrible smelling upon arrival). I was really sad that we had to cancel as we did love the food when not spoiled. Tried each week to correct the situation with no resolution. Would order again if they fixed they shipping issues in my area.

Do not even bother!

I started with Green Chef on a promo with four weeks of $15 off. The first week food was missing from a recipe - bummer - but when I called to inform them I got a lot of excuses. Accidents happen but to make excuses and try push back against a partial refund is unfathomable! So the next week my charge isn't regular price - $15, but minus the $12 for a partial refund. When I called about this the women was extremely rude and said it is clear in their rules you cannot combine offers - treating me like I was annoying her. I canceled my subscription on the spot - and that "customer service agent" acted like she could care less.

Eh cancelling

While I like the convenience of this service the quality is atrocious. The last three boxes we have gotten have gone rotten withing days as far as the produce goes. It has become a waste of money after wanting to try it again this summer so we are cancelling our subscription again. If I'm paying $160 per box for 4 servings I expect the produce to be fresh and good, not to spoil so quickly that is unusable.

If you live in an area where Green Chef utilizes LaserShip to bring you your box... DON'T SIGN UP! This service is mediocre, inefficient and shoddy on it's best day! My boxes did not show up on the assigned day many times in the past year, or they did not arrive at all! I voiced my opinion to Green Chef over and over again; however, they stated nothing could be done. I am amazed a company such as Green Chef would be affiliated with a such an unreliable company! In today's world, the competition for Home Delivery of Meals has increased dramatically... If Green Chef tells you LaserShip is your delivery company... Chose a different service and alleviate a great deal of stress for yourself!

Not what I hoped
July 24, 2023

The package was a day late. The vegetables and meat were horrible quality. Vegetables were wilted mushy and slimy. The chicken breast were juice but extremely rubbery. The quality of food is not good. The amount of plastic and paper waist is ridiculous. Contacted green chef about it and was only refused $25.

My credit card info was stolen by Green Chef Employee, I know this because when I called to complain low and behold the person who used my credit card for her personal purchases answered the phone! When I asked to speak to a supervisor I was told it would take 24 to 48 hours for a call back. I went online and started a chat requesting cancellation of my acct immediately. They did confirm cancellation of my account but never a call from a supervisor or an email of apology. Crooks! Do not support this company. I had to cancel my credit card and get a new one.

Do your homework

I got a certain amount of "free" meals from a friend; coupon promotional. They charged upward for $500 before I realized not one of the meals came to us free. They charge you in spite of their claim for free food in their promotion. I should have done my homework. Hopefully you won't be scammed too.

Yuck!

We have tried Hello Fresh, Home Chef and Blue Apron and loved them all. Saw a good review of Green Chef and gave it a try. I am usually not inspired to write reviews about anything and don't like to complain, but wow. This food was barely edible. And yes, I followed all instructions to the letter (cannot tolerate people who "review" something and state they added this or that). I did everything right, the food was just almost disgusting. And to make matters worse, they were a crapload of trouble to make. To go to so much trouble for gross food just adds insult to injury. We've loved every one of our meal-delivery places except this one. As for faves, probably a tie between Hello Fresh and Home Chef. LOVE the packaging and organization of Hello Fresh and love being able to choose from so many meals at Home Chef. Try either or Blue Apron. Green Chef was a total waste of money, work and time.

Horrible. Food average, no skills required, expensive. You will not be able to try the meal before you get to decide whether or not to cancel/ continue the subscription as they expect you to take a chance with them and modify your order at 12.00 noon 7 days before your next order. Which is before your first box is delivered to you.

Terrible company…First off we signed up for vegetarian food choices…They send us a bunch of meat…Then we want to skip a week we are still charged 131.00. For what they said was a order 2 weeks from the date of delivery. Terrible company we ended up donating the food…Avoid this COMIT all cost.

Very Unreliable
November 30, 2021

My family has been using Green Chef for several months. Unfortunately, the customer service has not been good. Green Chef does offer great food and recipes; however, there were several times when my order has arrived with open packages. I have always notified the company of this, and they have each time promised a credit on my account. This has never happened. Last week my order never showed. This was the final straw. I have since then cancelled my order and am trying a different company.

I cancelled my subscription because I literally could not afford it that month but even after cancelling my plan I was charged for the first box delivery. I did not expect to be charged for anything since my entire account was deactivated. This means that Greenchef is still having access to your payment information even after your account is cancelled which is totally unsafe and feels very deceitful. Further, there was no email acknowledgement of the activities in my account so it makes me wonder how safe our vital information is with this company. I do not trust Greenchef at all and regret creating my account on their platform and sharing my financial data with them in the first place. I repeatedly asked customer care to provide a transaction ID to track the process but they refused to provide any information stating that I will get an email when it is done. But so far, no email or acknowledgement.

Scam
November 1, 2020

A friend gave me a referral code to have a week of free meals. I received the order with no issues and the food was good. However, I was charged $80 the following Friday. I was never notified that I would be charged or entered into a subscription plan. I have reached out to them multiple times and they have refused to issue me a refund. If you are looking for a meal plan, please consider shopping for a more ethical business. Thanks for reading.

Scam Company

Absolutely disgusting company practices, I would leave 0 stars if I could. Their competitors notify you when you have to cancel by, but this company keeps it hidden and will not allow you to cancel even hours after the deadline. Customer service is useless and cannot get anything done. Only way this company is above water is by scamming people.

Don't waste your money or time ordering from these places. There is more waste in the environment than if you just ordered a meal from your local restaurant. I needed three pans to cook one meal. Everything was sealed in individual plastic bags. One small scallion in a plastic bag. 6 olives in another bag, it goes on and on. In addition the meals comes in a huge box with other plastic and cardboard. You still end up spending time cooking and you only get enough food for one meal. No leftovers. Order from your favorite restaurant and you end up with three meals and it costs less. You have to pay shipping costs for basically $5.00 worth of food. Meals are overpriced.

I froze my account with green chef because it did not give me the option to cancel the account at that moment. Six weeks later on Feb 20 2023 I was charged for a box I did not request or receive and I received a second box on March 3 2023 that I did not request. I called to request a refund and they were rude and refuse to refund my account. I will never use this company again and I highly recommend everyone stay away because of the bad business practices. I did dispute the charges with my bank.

I ordered a trial box, went online and unscheduled several weeks in advance thinking that this would give me time to try the meals without pressure. Sent email to close my account. Received an email with a link to cancel the account and did so. Last night I looked at my bank account and saw that GreenChef had withdrawn funds for a food box. Wrote an email asking them to stop delivery and refund my money. No response. Called and was informed that the box had already left and all they could refund was $25.00. I will be out of town for a week when the box arrives. It was suggested that I ask a neighbor to retrieve the box. I live in the mountains and my nearest neighbor is over a mile away. Even if that were possible, whatever fresh product comes in the box will spoil by the time I return.

INEDIBLE
June 28, 2022

I got my first box yesterday. The entire box was warm the ice pack was melted and the chicken AND fish was not even chilled, but warm. The ice packs were all melted and got the veggies all soggy and the brown paper bags the food was in was in pieces.
