First, it was expensive for what it was, and unlike other meal companies Green Chef doesn't give you all the things you need for each meal (you need specific tools like a zester, or ingredients like butter, salt, pepper. I guess maybe most people have these but just bothered me at around $12 a meal). I actually had to throw away part of the ingredients from several meals because they were bad when they got here. They also claim to be healthy but without modification the recipes call for butter, 'toasting' things in oil prior to actually cooking them, adding sugar to a salad (because all they gave for dressing was white vinegar?)
Also some of the bell peppers I got were like partially cut up. They cut the top off and pieces were missing like they removed a bad spot to save them money instead of sending an actual fresh item. So disappointing. And disgusting!

Overpriced and not very good

If you are thinking about trying out Green Chef, move on and don't waste your money! Green Chef costs more than many other kits, so I anticipated good quality ingredients. The quality of ingredients was mediocre at best. I had to toss the green pepper, cilantro, and scallions in the trash because they were rotten when delivered. The recipes had some unusual combinations and, overall, did not taste very good. Two meal kits were OK tasting, but the meat was tough or had inedible parts on both (bbq cherry pork w/ potatoes and kale salad; Monterey chicken with mushroom sauce and roasted zucchini and tomatoes). The other 2 meals (salmon and roasted sweet potatoes; Greek beef and feta patties with kale and squash) we tried were so unappetizing that most of each ended up in the trash! (except the salmon—that was very good). I like the healthy meal concept, but unfortunately, Green Chef misses the mark in both quality and taste.

Eh cancelling

While I like the convenience of this service the quality is atrocious. The last three boxes we have gotten have gone rotten withing days as far as the produce goes. It has become a waste of money after wanting to try it again this summer so we are cancelling our subscription again. If I'm paying $160 per box for 4 servings I expect the produce to be fresh and good, not to spoil so quickly that is unusable.

Good food, terrible service

Food is pretty good. However, orders frequently arrive with missing ingredients or rotten ingredients. Last straw was missing protein in a meal. Customer service said all they could do was refund the cost of what was missing. What do we do with the rest of the package? Full refund not available. Been with them for a year. Will never go back. Looked at Hello Fresh and guess what - they own Green Chef.

Don't waste your money or time ordering from these places. There is more waste in the environment than if you just ordered a meal from your local restaurant. I needed three pans to cook one meal. Everything was sealed in individual plastic bags. One small scallion in a plastic bag. 6 olives in another bag, it goes on and on. In addition the meals comes in a huge box with other plastic and cardboard. You still end up spending time cooking and you only get enough food for one meal. No leftovers. Order from your favorite restaurant and you end up with three meals and it costs less. You have to pay shipping costs for basically $5.00 worth of food. Meals are overpriced.

I would NEVER recommend Green Chef to anyone after my experience with them.
I am gluten free due to an allergy, and it has been very difficult to find a gluten free meal subscription service. Green chef advertised having a gluten free meal plan so I thought I would give it a try. You are only allowed to select meals AFTER your card has been charged, and according to the customer service team there is not a way to cancel that first box. I tried selecting meals, and repeatedly got an error saying my selections could not be saved. I went to account settings to see what I could do, and noticed it had my meal plan set on paleo. I went to change it to gluten-free, as that is what I had selected on the first screen, however gluten-free isn't even an option under the account settings. I opened up a chat with customer service, who claimed they picked my meals, and then told me they DO NOT have a gluten-free plan, but that the keto and paleo plans HAPPEN to be gluten-free. This was upsetting to me, as I am actively trying to love my body and heal all the damage that diet culture has done. I felt as though this company had lied to me about the meals they offer and were trying to subliminally tell me there was something wrong with my body. I asked to immediately cancel my subscription and cancel the box being sent, when I was told that wasn't possible since I had already been charged. Frustrated I moved on, thinking at minimum I had three meals to eat this weekend. Well the box arrived today with the wrong meals, one of which I can't even eat because, go figure, it's not gluten free.
Green chef is a joke. Don't waste your money.

INEDIBLE

I got my first box yesterday. The entire box was warm the ice pack was melted and the chicken AND fish was not even chilled, but warm. The ice packs were all melted and got the veggies all soggy and the brown paper bags the food was in was in pieces.

First, the food is not worth the price but thought I would try it anyways at least once. I didn't like it so I canceled my plan and still got charged weeks later. Talked to support and the support agent made me feel like an idiot by constantly asking when I canceled my account and saying I must not have done it. Terrible company. Stealing money.

I cancelled my subscription because I literally could not afford it that month but even after cancelling my plan I was charged for the first box delivery. I did not expect to be charged for anything since my entire account was deactivated. This means that Greenchef is still having access to your payment information even after your account is cancelled which is totally unsafe and feels very deceitful. Further, there was no email acknowledgement of the activities in my account so it makes me wonder how safe our vital information is with this company. I do not trust Greenchef at all and regret creating my account on their platform and sharing my financial data with them in the first place. I repeatedly asked customer care to provide a transaction ID to track the process but they refused to provide any information stating that I will get an email when it is done. But so far, no email or acknowledgement.

It's a SCAM beware!

I was going to try them out because I wanted a new option and I started signing up and then they ask for address and credit card THeN they show you the menu… I realized their menu palette is too complex for my needs and kid (eating with me) I went to cancel/deactivate it let me deactivate but forced me to get 3 meals still and I wasn't allowed to pick from them. Such a SCAM. Don't do it!

Just received my first order. 3 meals for the week. No way. I would rate this negative stars, if that was possible. Delivery arrived at 7pm - ok, not the end of the world. The produce looks like it was dug out of the trash, no joke. Look at this celery, no way. HOW old is that? It arrived like that., it did not sit in my fridge for 100 years, though it would take that long for it to look that way. Moldy shallots, for real? Mold spot on the bell pepper, for real? There is a serious quality control issue, and anyways, it is packed and sent that way out to us, suckers. No thanks.

Absolutely disgusted at their customer service policies. After failing to honour what was promised, they then cut me off the chat (not accidentally due to connection, literally saying do you have any further questions and have a nice day after ignoring my 3 questions). This was in addition to waiting 2 hours on the phone to resolve the issue the first time, only to find out today they did not resolve it or add any notes (well, the agent was either refusing to check the notes or was refusing to answer me whether he would check or had checked)

I really don't know why they have not gotten in trouble for false advertising. Their website says organic all over but if you look at their ingredient lists... there is maybe 2-5% worth of organic ingredients, don't believe me... go look at their ingredient cards. Don't buy from these people, they have been scamming honest people who just want healthy ingredients for years.

Not a company that I'd want to work with

I purchased Green Chef and did not receive any of my boxes. I finally called and let them know I haven't been receiving them when I realized and have still been charged $300 and there was nothing they could do. They do not err on the side of their customer at all. I was told it was my fault because one number was off on my address and it was my fault for the accident. The first gentleman I spoke to told me it was my fault for "not reading the terms and conditions" and was extremely rude. At least the second time I called the guy refunded me for my most recent box, but said he couldn't refund me for the other 3. I asked if anyone in the entire company could help me or refund me and he said no. He said I would have to dispute charges with my bank. If they are not able to help out their customers and understand that accidents happen, I don't want to do business with them. If they are not able to refund customers who clearly haven't received the products they paid for, I don't want to do business with them. Poor business model and poor customer service. They are very expensive to be not providing quality service.

Food Poisoning

The box that the food comes in is very nice. I made the Montery Jack Beef Patties recipe with included hamburger provided by Green Chef. The mean was even partially frozen when I took it out of the fridge and I am positive it was stored in my home appropriately. U made the meal per the instructions, cooked the meat until done completely and consumed the meal at 8pm. By 10pm the same day I was extremely ill and am still having stomach pains 3 days latter and am unable to eat. The stomach pain is terrible.

They also told me that they cannot process an investigation without me sending them a picture of the food wrapper. Really?

Canceling my account took 56 minutes on the phone.

Received my first order on 4/1/22, the recipe cards were what I ordered but the food didn't match. Emailed customer service right away - it's been a week and no response. Produce quality was terrible overall - some downright inedible like the moldy lime and rotten cilantro. I cancelled my subscription - just know that once you do that you can't leave a review on their site despite being sent "Rate My Recipes" email requests from them. They heavily advertise vegan options but there are only a few and the ingredients are the same in all of them, plus the calorie count is over 1000 per serving so it's definitely not for anyone that eats healthy.

I have ordered my first box with vegan recipes only and received the wrong ingredients such as some duck. It was upsetting and when I called them to let them know the ingredients were wrong, they inform me that they don't swap the box or refund them, even though it is not what I have ordered. Disappointing and upsetting.

I tried ordering a box last month and the website wasn't telling me if my card went through or when I would get my order so I thought it didn't work next thing I know I'm negative in my bank account and when I called to cancel my account she was rude and I had to be Stern to even get a partial refund. At least with hello fresh they tell you right away if your card went through and when you will be getting your order.

The first time I got bafd produce in my kit I thought maybe I hadn't stored it correctly but this has now happened more than once that I have had to throw ingredients away because they were no good - slimyand rotting red pepper and half frizen zucchini that went to mush and molded before I could use it. These kits are way too esp3ensive to put up that sao I've cancelled my subscription
